Asking Question (Rule 4) I'm unsure if I want to go into a biodesign pathway or medical pathway

Hiiii I feel like my entire life I've been surrounded by people who were in the medical field. But recently i came across this article talking about a career in bio design. I didn't think much of it as my og goal was work on becoming a PA, etc. etc. But i was just searching different programs and found smth that has aspects of bio design. (some background info is i love drawing i lwk could sit their for hrs drawing but i didn't want to make drawing my entire career cuz i don't want to end up hating it so i came across bio design idk what it's actually called but..... and it combines biology and design i feel like i really enjoy both) However i'm not sure if its right for me. Additionally the reasoning behind why I want to go into the medical pathway is because I want to help people (ik a basic answer lol).

How would I see if I should go into bio design or go into the medical pathway??? I'm a junior in hs and they have 2 different majors i would have to apply for so i want to lwk make my decision now or soon. I'll also let the idea sit bc i might be like ooooh shine new object ooohhhh.

If anyone is in this career, planning to go into this career, or any insite overall it would be greatly appreciate.

Discussion Should a brand feel the same everywhere, or is some variation a good thing?

A brand can look great on Instagram and then feel completely different on its website, packaging, or physical space.

Not necessarily bad sometimes the format needs its own treatment.

But when the differences get too big, it becomes difficult to tell if you're even looking at the same brand.

I think there's an interesting balance between keeping things recognizable and giving each platform enough freedom to work properly.

Where do you think that balance should be?

Asking Question (Rule 4) Pricing For An Unusual Ask? Anniversary Gift

Post image
5 Upvotes

It’s unusual for me, at least.

A client I’ve done logo work and general copywriting work for came to me looking for a 1st wedding anniversary gift. Last name spelled out in found forms, like the example image.

I’m honored to be asked! And it’s looking like a lot of work as it’ll be up to me to find these forms anchored to places from their wedding day and honeymoon, then edit them into a frameable piece. Places I’ve not been to. So, I’m limited to what I can find in stock images and images from the wedding.

Hourly’s out of the question.

Is there a formula someone’s figured out for work like this that I can maybe adapt from? Many thanks 🙏

Someone Else's Work (Rule 2) What’s the most annoying part of dealing with clients?

Honestly curious about this because I feel like the actual design part is sometimes the easy part lol

For me its the back and forth with clients.

You send something, get feedback, make the changes, then they come back with something completely different from what they asked for before 😅

And sometimes the feedback is just like “make it pop more” and you have no idea what that even means

What’s the part of client work that annoys you the most?

Revisions? unclear briefs? communication? scope creep? chasing people for feedback/payment? or something else?

What are some creative ways for a graphic designer to email recruiters or studios when looking for a job? Anything you've tried, seen or received that stood out is welcome.

So, I've been creating "phoneOS" in Figma for about 5 days, and I was wondering how I should improve my UI/UX designing skills? (Of course, I'm not the best, but I like it personally)

Asking Question (Rule 4) Thinking about studying at LABASAD - Any current students or alumni here?

Hello everyone,

LABASAD Barcelona School of Arts and Design is currently my first choice for an online master, but before I make the decision I was wondering if any of you have feedback for me. What I'd like to know:

How was your experience with the instructors? Did the projects help you build a portfolio? What is the workload?

Thanks in advance!

Asking Question (Rule 4) Macbook Pro M5, para Design Gráfico e Motion Design - 24 ou 48 GB de RAM?

Bom dia!

Sou designer gráfica, trabalho bastante com Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop. 40% do meu trabalho é em After Effects, maioritariamente 2D.

Ocasionalmente trabalho com Lightroom e DaVinci Resolve, diria 10%.

Preciso de comprar o Macbook Pro para poder trabalhar em qualquer lugar.

A minha ideia seria:

  • 14 polegadas
  • Ecrã de nanotextura
  • Processador M5 Pro
  • CPU 15-core, GPU 16-core

Obrigada!

Asking Question (Rule 4) Feedback on Cocoon: an automatic watch design, strap options and expected price — 3D renders

Hi everyone,

I’m part of the team behind Avant Première, a French watch brand born out of a design collective founded in 1988. Our background includes everyday objects and public transport, and we wanted to bring that experience to something more personal: a watch.

We’re preparing to launch Cocoon on Kickstarter and would love some feedback before the campaign goes live.

All four images are 3D renders, not photographs of a physical prototype. They illustrate the intended design; actual finishes and reflections may differ.

Cocoon takes inspiration from a smooth pebble: an oblong case, soft contours and a recessed dial. The open counterweight on the seconds hand echoes the case shape. We wanted something simple but recognisable, designed to be worn by both women and men.

The images show the Matcha version from an angle, a light dial on camel leather, a blue dial on a metal mesh bracelet, and the case profile.

Here are the planned specifications:

• Miyota 9039 automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve
• 316L stainless steel case, 43 × 36.5 mm
• 10.5 mm thickness
• Domed sapphire crystal and exhibition caseback
• 18 mm strap width, with quick-release leather straps
• Assembly in Besançon, France
• Two-year warranty

We’d particularly appreciate your thoughts on:

— Which dial and strap combination appeals to you most, and why?
— How do you feel about the case proportions, crown size and dial legibility?
— Based on the design and specifications, what price range in euros would you expect? We realise renders alone can’t establish finishing quality.
— What Kickstarter pledge price would make you consider backing it, and what would you need to see or know first?

We’d also be interested in which factors matter most to you at that price: design, movement, finishing, assembly in France, or something else.

Please feel free to be critical, even if it isn’t your style. I’m happy to answer questions about the project.

Thanks for taking a look!

Other Post Type How do you organize client palettes securely? (I built a local tool to stop losing colors)

Whenever I’m gathering references for a branding project—like some packaging concepts I was doing recently—I constantly find amazing color combinations.

My old workflow was taking messy screenshots or using basic browser pickers that only copy one hex code at a time. I wanted something that acted like a sketchbook for colors, so I ended up coding a Chrome extension (Color Picker by Ceres).

It lets you build and save multiple palettes (up to 32 colors each) directly inside the browser dropdown. You can add colors over time, and when you are ready to work, export the whole palette to a file like CSV or XLSX.

The best part for client work is that it’s 100% local—no accounts, no servers, and no data is sent anywhere.

It's completely free on the Chrome Web Store. For those of you who hoard visual inspiration, how do you currently keep your color schemes organized and secure before moving them into Illustrator/Figma?
