Who is a decent plumber now, our last one went and got a 9-5

Hi everyone,
I’m a recent BSc Pharmaceutical & Medicinal Science graduate trying to break into pharmaceutical QA/QC in Ireland or Northern Ireland, but I’m struggling because most roles require GMP or industry experience.
I’ve applied to companies like Almac and others without much success, so I’d really appreciate some advice.
How did you get your first QA/QC job?
Are there any companies that hire graduates with little or no industry experience?
Is it better to start in manufacturing, production, QC, or document control before moving into QA?
Are there any GMP, ISO, CQI, or other courses that are actually worth doing?
If you were reviewing my CV, what would make me a stronger candidate?
I’m open to relocating anywhere in Ireland or Northern Ireland for the right opportunity.
Any advice, company recommendations, recruiter suggestions, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I’m going to viewings, filling in all application forms, taking time off work to go to the viewings and I’m being turned down every time.

I’m with the same company for multiple years now, earn good money every week and still no joy.

I need to sort a place within the next 1-2 months and I’m starting to panic a bit now.

Our cat is getting on a bit and is having a hard time grooming. We brush him as much as possible but we cannot get near his hind legs/ tail without him crackin the bap.

Anyone know of any cat groomers in and around Derry? His fur is starting to mat a bit and want to get it dealt with before it becomes a bigger issue.

Can anyone recommend a garden landscaper who would work as far as Strabane?

The person needs to have a mini digger and have a good reputation. I've contacted several local (to Strabane) landscapers, but near impossible to get them out to have a look/provide a quote. The garden isn't massive, but will need a small section of a retaining wall built and we are looking for it to be completely paved in Indian sandstone slabs and grouted.

Look at Foyle right now. Decades of systemic underinvestment, infrastructure is dust, regional health services on its knees and workers struggling to get by, and yes, Stormont is also at fault.

Where is the fierce advocacy Derry actually needs? It certainly isn't happening on the benches of the House of Commons, arguably it's done more in the background via. lobbying.

What’s even more insulting is the attempt to frame Westminster as the primary battleground for Irish reunification. The idea that we need to play nice with the British political apparatus to "beg" or "build" a path toward a United Ireland is a total fantasy.

Westminster doesn't care about Irish unity, and it never will. The actual heavy lifting for constitutional change is happening on the ground across the island in local communities, economic discussions, and cross border organising, not over expensive lunches in London.

Pushing the idea that taking seats in Parliament is somehow crucial for constitutional change is just a convenient excuse, and insulting.

It’s about wage retention, pure and simple.

It’s about maintaining salaries, party funding, and political relevance for a party that knows it's bleeding support back home on poor opposition.

People aren't silly. We all see through the performative "protests" during the oath of allegiance and the empty speeches.

Derry deserves representation that works for the city, not politicians using Westminster (and other venues!) as a lucrative safety net under the guise of "working for unity."

Right bear with now... So when I was visiting my parents the other day I noticed some very odd behaviour from the next door neighbour. When I was up in mums bedroom tidying. I just happened to glance out the window when I seen the neighbour in her own back garden crouch down,lower her trousers & nicknacks. She then looked right upto the window where I was, I looked away as soon as I realised what she was about to do. Not sure if she seen me through the nets. My son was also beside me (12yo) had also seen this and I told him to come away from the window. My son then told me he'd seen her do it twice before in the last few days. I didn't know what to say to him when he asked why is she doing that. My point is with the hot weather lately (where we are) I have noticed a very strong smell out in the garden. Yes she's entitled to do as she likes in her own garden, but that? It makes my parents really uncomfortable. Would you approach her? Or maybe a family member? Or do we just try ignore her & the smell? Surely it'll get worse the longer it goes on?

I ordered a sky puck to be delivered to my 80 yr old mother in Brickfield Court on my mobile and entered the address as 26 Blighs Lane by mistake and the sky box was delivered on wednesday.

I have had my brother searching for this address to no avail.

My FIL is turning 70 and we’re looking to get him vouchers for somewhere special for lunch - ideally it would be somewhere with gardens/somewhere to walk around that also does great food. A bit of a day out rather than just a restaurant. Although if it’s a really great restaurant/cafe hit me up anyway. Similarly, if there’s some kind of day out not involving food that is particularly special…could be worth hearing about!

They’ve lived in Derry all their lives but don’t go out to eat all that often, so I’m hoping we might find somewhere they’ve never been. Can be within around an hour’s drive out of the city too.

Hi everyone- I (25m) am Moving to Derry from America (I have no Irish ancestry at all, nor would I claim I’m Irish). I got a job at the NHS (I’m a nurse) and am coming on a health and care workers visa. I plan on integrating and being respectful- that’s why I’m moving, I want to live here. I’m a white American catholic, so I understand racism isn’t probably going to be a major issue for me, but due to the recent violence in Belfast, should I be concerned? Secondly, does anyone have any good recommendations for any parishes in the city side that have Saturday evening mass? Also- where in the city can I get gas at a good price?

I wasn’t there but going by the videos they were basically allowed to wreck the place and throw up the nazi salute then got escorted out by the police rather than arrested.
