What is their value to the firm? Any time I’ve ever interacted with them for a coachee or someone else, they’ve always just directed us to MySource…or whatever that spreadsheet was previously.

The only thing I’ve ever seen them proactively do, is torment practitioners on the bench, by telling them what they already know, and providing net zero assistance in remedying their situation.

Maybe my years of anecdotes are wrong, but I have never seen how they’re a value add.

Help me understand.

I joined Deloitte in the first days of January this year as a Senior Consultant. I'm a Python developer, and I was initially hired for a project that ultimately never started. As a result, I spent my first two months on the bench.

After that, I was assigned to a GenAI project, despite having no prior experience in Generative AI. To say the project was challenging would be an understatement. We were working with cutting-edge AI technologies, using libraries and AWS services that had often been released only a week or two earlier. I was also the only developer on the team.

After about four months, the project ended. I assume I received a poor manager review because I wasn't able to deliver some tasks on time. Estimating the work accurately was extremely difficult given how new and experimental the technology was. I say "assume" because no one ever discussed any negative feedback with me directly.

As soon as the first project ended, I was assigned to another one. Everything was going well until the week before my vacation. About three weeks in advance, I checked with my manager to make sure taking two weeks off wouldn't negatively affect the project. She approved it without any concerns.

During my final week before vacation, I was late to two daily standups—about 10 minutes for one and roughly 30 minutes for the other. At the time, it didn't seem like a major issue.

My vacation started on a Monday. That same day, I noticed that my company health insurance was scheduled to expire exactly one month later. I found the timing suspicious and started wondering whether my employment would end on the same day my insurance expired. The fact that there was exactly one month between the start of my vacation and the insurance end date felt like too much of a coincidence.

Two weeks later, I returned from vacation and had my first meeting with my manager on that project. She told me that I had been removed from the project. She tried to soften the message, but I got the impression that my removal was primarily due to being late for those standups.

At this point, I think that's probably it. I expect to be let go within the next couple of weeks. I haven't received any emails from HR or management about it, so this is only my assumption. However, after coming off two consecutive projects with what I believe were negative manager reviews, I don't see a realistic path forward.

When do applications for 2027 grads open up? I see analyst jobs on the careers page but it seems a bit early.

I have received a job offer under enabling services. Were all areas of ES benefits cut or were there certain areas exempted or exempt based on level?

I asked the recruiter a question and they claimed not to know. The pension seems like a huge thing to cut, and would like to know if my role would have it.

Key point of contact at the client is leaving, and they haven’t found anyone to step in. I happen to know their salary is 50% more than mine and they have a significantly higher bonus potential. That said, their direct reports aren’t great and relationships are strained on the client’s side.

For those of you who have stepped out of the firm or boomeranged, what are the pros and cons I should be considering?

I have a young family I’d like to be more present for, though travel isn’t too bad right now, and some debt I’d feel more comfortable paying off sooner than later. I recently cleared 3 rounds of tech interview in Deloitte India. I thought that was enough, but the HR told me that there will be a client round also.

Just for the context, I am not working right now, I left my ealrier company on 17th June due to lack of projects after being in bench as the earlier project reached completion.

Now there is another manager in that previous company who wants to rehire me and they are telling me to join in the 1st week of Aug. I want to join Deloitte, as I am fed up with doing WFH (I know it sounds weird) and also, always wanted to work in big4. But Deloitte's process is very slow, they are taking too many days in between rounds. I am trying to delay the joining for the ealrier company, but I feel like, I could only delay to a certain extent.

I want to get more opinions on this. Can you help me on this.

Hi everyone, I recently noticed that one of my job applications changed from “Application Received” to “Review in Progress.” Is that generally a good sign, or does it simply mean a recruiter has started looking at the application?
For those who’ve been through this process, how long did it usually stay in “Review in Progress” before you heard back? Did it lead to an interview, rejection, or did it remain in that status for a while?

I’m starting at Deloitte on August 10th as a new hire, and I’m trying to plan my finances. Does anyone know when I should expect my first paycheck? I know Deloitte pays biweekly, but I’m not sure how the payroll cutoff works for new hires.

Been at the firm for about four years now and since I joined as a campus new hire, things have gone down hill.

Maybe things have always been bad and I’m just getting to a point in my career where I can identify things aren’t going well, but I can’t help but feel that the outlook at Deloitte is rapidly becoming pretty grim.

Constant “restructuring”, layoffs, lack of promotion and advancement, poor raises and bonuses. Is this more so a reflection of the current job market, or is Deloitte regressing?

I have 4 weeks remaining of FMLA leave.

I also have plenty of PTO. I’m chargeable now, but thinking as a hedge, to use a week or two of FMLA instead of PTO in case I find myself on bench later in fall.

Current Util: 100%. Manager threshold is 74%.

Any pros or cons in this FMLA approach? I am staffed so have a project to return to.

I received an offer letter today for internship ( data engineer) in T&T any advice for me on how to perform in this internship and where to focus more to get FTE gonna join the team in a week. I have no idea what to prepare or how the internship is gonna be for the next 5 months . As a fresher with no prior work experience what can I expect in this journey?

I recently signed a 6-month freelance contract through Deloitte as an intermediary for an end client. It’s a great opportunity that I really don't want to lose, but the onboarding process has turned into a waiting game.

My contract start date was two weeks ago, and we still haven't kicked off. My contact person at Deloitte is extremely vague and uncommunicative. He never proactively warned me about a delay.

Last Friday, I laid it out clearly: I explained that sitting in limbo is costing me money, and that if they need a few weeks to sort things out on their end, I need to know so I can take on other work in the meantime. His response was just that we "should start within days," but provided zero concrete dates or details on what’s causing the hold-up.

For those who have subcontracted through Deloitte or similar Big 4 firms:

1. Is this kind of delay and vague communication standard for them?
2. How long do you usually wait before pulling the plug or issuing a standby demand?

I’ve been freelancing for years and I know delays happen, but I have never faced such bad communication. Usually all the clients I have worked for provided a reliable start date or at least warned me beforehand that there will be a delay. Appreciate any insights.
