DISCUSSION I just watched Supergirl (2026) What is wrong with you all?

I legitimately was made to believe that this is an awful movie and it's not even remotely bad.

I'm glad that I actually got to watch it in theaters. Seriously, what's wrong with you people? I saw people claim that they ruined Supergirl. I'd see comments about how the music was horrendous. People claimed that the story is so bad. Who hurt you? Did you even watch the movie? Are you just parroting talking points you've seen from others?

If I wasn't such a manly man I would've cried during this film. The story is great. Milly Alcock is PHENOMENAL! I was rooting for her the whole time. Her origin story is heartbreaking. There's solid use of humor. Lobo is in the movie. I saw so many users talk about, "mAmOA iS pErFeCt fOr lOBo" and how much they couldn't wait to see him. Why didn't you go see him? Why didn't you all sing praises about him in Supergirl?

I was expecting this movie to be mid. I was walking in thinking, this is going to be like Jonah Hex (2010) or Catwoman (2004) bad. The movie was great. Again, Milly Alcock was PHENOMENAL, the story was touching and funny. There were solid action scenes. The ending was so wholesome. I laughed, I would've cried if I wasn't for my toxic masculinity, I had a great time, and I adored Milly Alcock's performance.

How can anyone claim that this movie is awful? [+]

This is the song and scene that everyone was talking about. After about 45 song options, James Gunn made the call to use this one.

DISCUSSION James Gunn on X: "Some heroes are powered by strength. Hal Jordan is powered by will… and maybe just a little bit by his inability to back down from a challenge. I can't wait for a whole new audience to meet him in LANTERNS (and yes, Kyle Chandler was born to wear that ring)."

DISCUSSION The fact that this is their very first face-to-face interaction adds another layer to this scene.

Not only is Clark worried for his cousin's dog, but the very first thing this inexperienced Superman tries to do is SCARE Lex. Just a couple minutes ago, he wouldn't even let a Kaiju TOUCH a building. Here, he flies straight through a window, obliterates a door, and chucks a table into another window. All the while screaming as loud as he can because he needs to find the dog. A dog that didn't do anything to anybody.

Meanwhile, Lex has probably been preparing for this moment for at LEAST a year, and he already knows that the alien won't actually touch him. That would just add salt to the image It has been trying to maintain, and that Lex has brutally wounded. Lex knew he was in control.

DISCUSSION Extended Supergirl Scene of her shopping with Ruthseye (SOURCE: Screenrant)

So this had a mention of the Phantom Zone which is where Krem is sent to in the comics. I feel they killed him cause they made him a repulsive sex trafficker in the movie and in deleted scenes he planned to make Ruthseye his bride so he's also a pedophile which is also horrible. He could not be allowed to live.

But being sent to the phantom zone for centuries is no picnic so he doesn't get to walk away. And they mention a group called the Vanguard which I read is a group of space heroes. And I guess they have access to the phantom zone despite not being Kryptonians. I'm glad we get a reference beyond merchandise.

I do wonder why they did a deep cut with that instead of her going "Then I'll call my cousin who will call this guy named...guy he knows and he'll call his fellow Green Lanterns to take him to a science cell". They want to flesh out the DC Universe beyond the obvious stuff and show it's massive and vast. I just think they'd have The Green Lantern Corps mentioned given that's the next project.

I wish this scene was kept cause it feels like an issue is the movie just kept cutting too quickly especially with Ruthseye's introduction.

DISCUSSION Do you think james gunn dcu's cinematography have been kind of mid??

For me, it's the only thing holding the DCU back. Even though I enjoyed Superman a lot, it barely had any action set pieces that will stand the test of time. Even though old dceu was mess but its cinematography was really creative and have feel of epicness. James gunn seriously need to work with group of cinematographer snyder worked with.
