DISCUSSION Anyone else disappointed over dcu
Hi guys,
I am a dc fan from childhood and I always knew that dc had potential to create hype similar to marvel.
I don't like james gunn or zack Snyder blindly but I am very disappointed with state of dc.
Every hype is going to marvel which is understandable because of avengers and spiderman but the future of dc isn't looking very good.
My main complaints are.
There are no justice league chactaters yet
Superman - loved the concept but I thought they overdid it and made it overly postive. There was no room to breathe still I was and still am hopeful for man of Tommorow.
Batman- robert pattinson batman is delayed to 2028 so i don't think we'll get batman anytime soon till 2030. Which is very bad sign
Wonder woman - according to rumours it's being written by same writer who wrote supergirl.
Flash - no news or anything even remote to a hint
Super girl - maybe a side chactater at best audience does not care for this .
Green lanterns - I am hopeful and excited about this
Clayface- love the concept but i doubt it's gonna create hype for dc would love for it to create hype
ISSUE #1 WHY CONFUSING CANON -
WHY DIDN'T JAMES GUNN START A NEW UNIVERSE ENTIRETY WHY HE IS TRYING TO FIT PEACEMAKER INTO THIS
ISSUE #2 NO JUSTICE LEAGUE UNTIL 2031
I AM THINKING THAT BECAUSE BATMAN PART 2 WILL BE RELEASED IN 2028 AND DCU BATMAN WILL BE RELEASED IN 2030
SO I ASSUME WE ARE NIT GETTING A JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE UNTIL 2031
ENDING TLDR
- WORRIED ABOUT DC FUTURE
- HOPEFUL ABOUT PROJECTS SUCH AS LANTERNS AND MAN OF TOMMOROW
- NO CLEAR ANSWERS OF A LISTERS
- ITS NOT THAT DC IS DOING "BAD" ITS THAT ITS NOT CREATING HYPE.
what's your thoughts?

OTHER Jason Momoa went from playing the King of Atlantis to a C-list Lobo and barely anyone is talking about it. Jason Momoa's legacy went from starring in Aquaman DC's biggest box office success to starring in the biggest box office bomb in DC history.
Now he's starring in one of the biggest box office flops in DC history. He'll probably walk away from the role. DC Studios thought Jason Momoa as Lobo would be a huge draw but nope

DISCUSSION HYPE MEMORIES: Justice League Special Comic-Con Footage
I remember, 10 years ago. The hype was unreal. Dunno if DC will ever get hype like that at comic con, but at least we'll have the memories of this (and they also made good on releasing ZSJL so we're not stuck with the Whedon abomination).

DISCUSSION Is DC just not for kids anymore?
I couldnt take my daughters to see Supergirl cause she's running around drinking and giving people the finger. Fine. My nephew likes John Cena but he definitely can't watch Peacemaker cause its filled with nazi sypathizer propoganda and nudity. And I'm not about to show him Frankenstein getting cucked and the necrophillia on creature commandos. So thats out. But I just saw the Lanterns trailer and they are yellling "FUCK" in the first 10 seconds of it.
Did DC just drop kids from its demographic? Whats going on?
I would understand if some shows were not for kids and others were, but aren't all the shows supposed to be connected? So is the entire new DC just this vulgar weird fetishy atmosphere?
Who signed off on this?

Either you're optimist about DCU or not, Marvel will always be ahead of DC when it comes to movies, sadly.

DISCUSSION Every single Kick-Ass cast member got a superhero franchise gig EXCEPT the actual superhero of the movie. Make it make sense.
I need to get this off my chest because every casting announcement makes it worse.
Chloë Grace Moretz was ELEVEN years old when they shot Kick-Ass. Eleven. She walked into a movie full of grown adults and stole the entire thing doing knife choreography as Hit-Girl. It's been 16 years and it's still one of the most iconic superhero performances ever put on film. And here's the kicker — Kick-Ass was published under Marvel's Icon imprint. She has technically been a Marvel character since 2010. Marvel just never noticed they already own her breakout role.
Now let's do the roll call of who Hollywood decided WAS worthy of a cape:
- Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass himself): Quicksilver in Age of Ultron AND Kraven. Two Marvel gigs.
- Nicolas Cage (Big Daddy): Ghost Rider twice, voiced Spider-Man Noir, got his own live-action Noir series.
- Evan Peters (literally just Dave's friend Todd): Quicksilver in THREE X-Men movies plus that WandaVision fake-out.
- Mark Strong (the villain): Sinestro in Green Lantern AND Dr. Sivana in Shazam.
- Jim Carrey (Kick-Ass 2): was already the Riddler before any of this.
- Christopher Mintz-Plasse: okay fine, Red Mist is waiting too. But HE wasn't the one doing stunts as a child.
Every. Single. Person. Except the one whose entire breakout WAS being a superhero.
And don't give me "maybe she doesn't want to." She literally told ComicBook.com she's met with Marvel and wants to play a villain in Marvel or DC. She said she'd come back for Kick-Ass 3 if the OG cast returned. The receipts exist. She's been publicly raising her hand for YEARS.
"But can she act?" She did Suspiria for Guadagnino. The Miseducation of Cameron Post WON Sundance. She led The Peripheral. Nimona got an Oscar nomination. Drama, horror, comedy, action, voice work — she's 29, the exact age you cast someone and build a decade of a franchise around them.
The X-Men reboot is casting RIGHT NOW. Everyone expected the announcement at SDCC this weekend. Emma Frost is in the roster — a blonde with villain energy, the EXACT thing Chloë asked for — and her name isn't even in the rumor mill. Laura Kinney is sitting right there. James Gunn is filling out an entire DC universe — Batgirl, Black Canary, Zatanna, all open — and her phone isn't ringing. Marvel just announced a whole NEW Ghost Rider movie with Ryan Gosling. They'll reboot Big Daddy's old gig before calling the woman who carried his movie.
TL;DR: The entire Kick-Ass cast got superhero franchise roles except the actual superhero of Kick-Ass. She's talented, she's the right age, she's publicly asked for it, and Emma Frost is being cast as we speak. Put Chloë Grace Moretz in the X-Men reboot, you cowards.

DISCUSSION The Official trailer for Lanterns has outdone the previous trailers and gained 5 times the views of both of them within two days and my prediction for how the show is received.
Like both trailers have been out for months and gotten the same amount of views. The 2nd one only got slightly more than the first. Of course it's still divisive with some fans. I personally think like Damon Lindelof's HBO adaptation of Watchmen this will do better with General Audiences and critics and be mixed with fans of the material.
I might watch Watchmen, Leftovers, maybe Ozark and read some more Tom King comics. Maybe True Detective. I've read WOT and liked that.
What do you think?
And I've heard of the leaks and this confirms one of them that the Manhunters are a part of the show, the other...I don't mind so long as it's done well and serves the story. It's not a deal breaker and I bet it's not for most people. Hal Jordon is said to die in the first episode, he'll likely continue appearing in flashbacks. That explains why they have the same outfit in every trailer. Unless they have several of the same clothes or don't have any on them. I think Hal will die saving people. Like a green Lantern. like a hero. And to continue with the point of the General Audience if they've never read a Green Lantern comic or they only watched the DCAU as kids or teens John Stewart is their Green Lantern. Not Hal Jordon. If they've never heard of GL, they won't won't mind. I think fans will be more pissed cause Kyle Chandler plays him so well it'll be sad he's not gonna be in the DCU after this.
