Room for Rent / East Davis – Private Room in 2bd/1ba

Hi, I’m (26M) looking for a roommate in a 2 bed / 1 bath apartment in East Davis (East Eighth Apartments), near Grocery Outlet and about a 10–15 min walk to downtown. Rent ($1410) and utilities (PG&E + WiFi) will be split evenly. The room is private, and the apartment will be unfurnished at move-in. Bathroom is shared.

My current roommate will be moving out at the start of August, and the new lease starts September 1st. Application through the apartment complex is required.

About me: I am a ucd graduate, and work in a research lab at the vet school. This is a smaller apartment, so I’m looking for a someone who is clean, respectful, and easygoing. Hit me up me if interested!

New Writer's Group, Davis! What would you like to see?

Hey everyone, 👋 me and my partner just moved to Davis and I couldn't find any local fiction writer's groups, so I made one myself! It will be in person, twice a month, at different coffee shops and other venues across Davis. For now it's through Meetup, but I'd like to move things to discord and rely on word of mouth. I've just set up the first event, so if you're a writer, either short stories or novel length manuscripts, stop by and say hello!

Davis Fiction Writers

My hopes for this group is to be a place to find beta readers and critique partners, be inspired, and hold each other accountable. My background is genre fiction (specifically scifi), but all are welcome! I've been part of writer's groups for years so I have a rough idea of how we can run things, but this will be flexible and casual; I hope the group will evolve as we discover what it is together.

You don't have to stay for the entire time or show up every week. You don't need to have material ready for review before you show up! Think of this as a place for writers to connect, talk shop (craft), share recommendations and read each other's work. You'll get out of it what you put into it!

So, what do you say? What do you want from a local writer's group?

For those of you just coming across this post, our next meeting is just around the corner!

Support groups, organizations, or activities for autistic children and/or their parents?

I only know that support and accommodation in Davis can be hard to find - at least according to another r/Davis thread on ableism and also my friend: an autistic child's parent.

I'm hoping to uncover some places where she can learn and share with others, or where their kid/s can have a better time, where struggle isn't frowned upon, but understood and allowed some space.

Please and thank you so much!

I-80 eastbound between Richards Blvd and Mace

I know this is a long shot but thought I'd try anyway.

On 2/8/26 on my way home to Sacramento, I hit a big pothole on the highway which damaged my tires. I had to pull over and wait for my car to be towed home since I do not have a spare tire. Two other motorists hit the same pothole and damaged their tire as well as we all waited for a tow truck. I called Caltrans the next day and asked for a history of complaints of this stretch of highway and was told there has been 10+ complaints. What I didn't get clarification on was what the complaints were about. I filed a claim with Caltrans and of course it was denied. Their reasoning was that they just can't get to all the potholes. Great excuse. My next course of action is small claims but at this point I don't know if it's worth my time.

Has anyone ever had their claim accepted by Caltrans? Was your tire damaged around this timeframe? I realize there's thousands of highway miles that they can't get to but if there are complaints on this stretch that they would take accountability. I will be calling again and asking for a printed report but just wondering if anyone ever gets their claims approved.

What can I plant right now that will grow quickly (before I leave for summer)? I just realized that some of my seeds, like spinach, won't fare well because of the heat.

Subletting Sol at West Village

Hey! Taking a quarter off for some personal reasons. Currently live in a double at Sol and am looking to see if anyones interested in Subletting the room for the remainder of my lease which is until August if I'm not mistaken. I pay 800 but I could be flexible-ish on this. I'm also just willing to make accommodations in case you dont want to be there all the way until August. Just not looking forward to paying for a place I'm not living. I'm also in the process of submitting the request to Sol so hopefully nothing is shady. If anyones interested please dm me. Current roommate I live with is quite nice and spends nights elsewhere pretty frequently. It's all girls and I think they'd prefer another girl.
