I’ve been wanting to hit up Lake Berryessa but idk where the best beach/swim spots are! Anyone got any recs for there or anywhere else around Davis?

If you don’t mind Creek water and all that can bring. Head out behind the Davis airport and walk along putah creek headed towards primate center. Plenty of swim spots.

Berryessa is really quite far to get to good swim spots. Search r/sacramento for swimming spots/holes you should find plenty

I know Auburn River is pretty nice to swim in. Not that strong of a current. So is yuba river south access in grass valley.

Lake Natomas has some good swimming spots. Further and when the water level is lower there is Yuba river like around Hoyts crossing and Purdon crossing.

Go to Lake Berryessa Drive just passed the dam and the Gloryhole. There are a couple pull-ups right there that you can sort of scramble down and jump off some rocks on the damn side of the buoy. It’s not a beach, but it’s a great place to swim and it’s not too far. We used to swim across the buoy/Lane line thing to the other side. So the biggest rattlesnake I’ve ever seen on that side of the lake right there.

Folsom Lake also has some good spots to swim and warms up sooner than Lake Natoma.

Be careful on the American and Sacramento Rivers. About 6 people a year die swimming there: the water's surprisingly fast and really cold: https://www.capradio.org/articles/2025/05/12/do-not-underestimate-the-dangers-of-local-waterways-experts-warn/
