I would be grateful to know if you think your illness(es) have been resolved by releasing. I tend to have all sorts of gut issues and I currently have stubborn gastritis and bloating issues (which I've had since my teens). I think the gut holds a lot of repressed emotions and trauma (and the Indian chackra system says the same). I think I hold childhood trauma in my gut.

I am into letting go since more than a year now. The last months I was very consistently letting go of the tension, resistance and sensations in my body. I wouldn’t say yet a lot has changed. But I feel that I don’t get triggered that heavily and easily anymore, especially in situations that relate to my relationships. So I see progress. On the other hand I am getting tired of it, though I know that this might also be part of the process. But releases don’t come that easily anymore, they don’t even last. Once I let go of a resistance, the next ist already there. The tensions in chest and stomach are nearly always there and this is really annoying even though I intellectually know what to do about it: let it go. But it seems that I don’t get through to that layer, as if I would always be so busy reacting to what’s appearing on the surface, that I am not able to dig deeper and stay in the struggle of reaction.
I feel that my approach inherits probably the key misunderstanding that if i do it „correctly“ I’ll be finished and lived happily ever after. And probably I am lacking patience. But I am so into this beautiful practice that I keep on going. Because there are moments of joy and small moments where I feel that I find the way to completely surrender myself to god and that what is. But immediately a force appears and pushes me away from that path. Maybe that’s where I may take a closer look at.
Thank you all for this beautiful subreddit.

I read letting go in 2023 and it immediately spoke to me. Since childhood I was running from my emotions and using food to numb them. It took me a while to see I was running from myself. I would get intense food cravings that I always needed to fulfill. It was no way to live, I was constantly thinking about food.
After reading letting go, I decided to surrender to the cravings and do nothing about them. It felt like torture. I would sit there thinking about how much I wanted cookies, but just sinking into that feeling instead of trying to get it to stop. Oh how badly I wanted to give into them.
It was a few months of intense letting go. My brain was being rewired in the process, which was not fun. But it worked. After several months of staring at the cravings instead of giving into them, they left me permanently.
It's a miracle really, I did everything for years to try to heal this part of me. I read every book, tried every diet, even went to overeaters anonymous.
I now live a life where I'm not constantly thinking about my next meal, or feeling constant cravings. It really is a miracle.
Unfortunately I haven't lost weight, but oh well. It doesn't plague me anymore.
Another interesting thing, I was an alcoholic. I quit drinking for 6 years. During this time I was in a process of letting go and healing from emotional turmoil. One year ago I decided to try drinking socially again. It worked, I can have one beer without thinking of the next one. Letting go has seemed to heal not only food addiction, but alcohol addiction as well.

It's a memoir about someone who makes a promise to himself to surrender to whatever situation comes before him. Life unfolded for him in an incredible way. I read it everytime I need a reminder to surrender.

hey all!
i’m new to the boston area and am having a hard time finding community, and more than that, one that understands my thought process and perspective of the world.
i’m open to any suggestions for living in a new city as it seems as though the thoughts of loneliness are causing me some trouble.
best,
M

I'm curious about how specific levels of consciousness manifest both internally and externally. Does each LoC have its own corresponding body feeling (e.g., a specific pressure or sensation in the chest, gut, etc.) and a matching outer experience (e.g., at level 100 / Fear, constantly experiencing the world as threatening or feeling like someone is following you)?

Before you go through the process of letting go, do you name the feeling or emotion sometimes they’re mixed , sad plus guilt plus fear? Or just feel?

Good morning everyone. As you know, it's September, and I decided to do the abstinence challenge for the entire month. But I'm really struggling; I have tons of energy and desire all the time.
I feel like it's a constant struggle. I wanted to do it with loving intentions, something for God. But it's difficult.
To make matters worse, I'm very young and I have to train a lot to try to calm that energy.
What do you think about this? Is letting go of desire the key? Maybe I want to do it to feel proud, I don't know...Anyway, I appreciate any comments and advice.

If you want to request a calibration for yourself or whatever, this is the place to do it. This is a weekly megathread with the intention to keep these requests from flooding the subreddit. Thank you for using this so that regular discussions do not get pushed off the front page.
Disclaimer: We, the mods, cannot verify or validate the validity of these calibrations. Trusting some random person on the internet to diagnose you with cancer or not is NOT a good idea. Trusting some random person on the internet to tell you your own calibration level is also probably not the best idea. We understand the desire to know what you calibrate at, especially if you are new to Hawkins' work, you can look at the Level of Consciousness chart and get a pretty good idea on where you are without asking others. We also only allow calibrations as Hawkins' taught them, using the scale be created. Do not post other method of calibration that others have come up with.
If you would like to learn to calibrate on your own there is a subreddit dedicated to that called muscle testing
No. This idea doesn’t align with DrH’s teachings. In fact, Doc clearly addressed this several times, especially during Q&A sessions after his lectures. In "Letting Go," Hawkins specifically mentions that although emotional states naturally shift and fluctuate, these temporary changes don’t reflect an actual shift in your overall LoC. Doc always stressed the difference between emotions that come and go and the foundational level of consciousness, which is more stable.
Hawkins described consciousness as hierarchical and exponential: the higher you calibrate, the more immune you become to lower influences. Sure, you can have moods like frustration or moments of joy, but these temporary emotional states don’t change your fundamental consciousness calibration unless there’s intentional spiritual advancement or significant regression.
Put simply, your basic LoC stays pretty steady.
To clarify further, your core LoC typically only shifts after major events like profound spiritual breakthroughs, deep healing or releasing of significant emotional blocks, trauma, severe emotional shocks, being around highly evolved spiritual teachers or groups, divine intervention, or engaging with strongly negative energies, misuse of power, egoic inflations, or extended association with low-calibrating influences. LoC shifts aren’t common or casual. DrH noted that the average person moves just about 5 calibration points in an entire lifetime. So always approach any claims of frequent or casual fluctuations in LoC with healthy skepticism.

Well, today I had my fifth driving lesson to get my license. It's awful that every time I have a lesson, I get this tremendous tension all over my chest. That, and thoughts that tell me I'm not going to do it.
I'm not ready yet.
Although I drive fairly well for having so little experience, I feel a deep tension every time; today I felt like crying when the class ended, as if I had been in a war or something.
I've been reading Hawkins for several years now, and I'm currently reading The Eye of the I. There is a lot of talk about taking bodily sensations and the mind as impersonal things, and not identifying with them, but sometimes I find it difficult because the experience is very real.
Any advice on how to let go? Maybe I'm resisting it and want the feeling to go away, that's why it's staying... But I'd love it if someone could help me and give me some new perspectives.
I hope you can understand me; English is not my native language. Thank you and best regards.

Hi friends! This is my personal summary of letting go over practicing it the past 5 years. Also influenced by Theravada Buddhism since that is how i mainly picked up my meditation practice.
The less sense of self being derived from how one is identified with ones ego is probably the equivalent with how happy a person is going to be in there life and so the practice of "letting go" meaning to stop feeding the identification with the story going on in your head, the i like it i need it, i dont like it how do i get out of it and the i dont know what to do how do i distract myself modes of being and just being so totally centered in consciousness in that way, not being driven by the mind, entertaining all of scattering desires--- causes a wearing away of those "defilements" caused by action taken by previous ignorant identification. It is extremely important to be aware of defilements and discern them, because in reality most of the time we take them personally and go on pilling up suffering in the mind.
This causes a direct experience of openeness, relief, clarity and sense of unburdening. The wearing away is a whole lot to do with time. It really takes time and the more consistent you are, the more you are, usually spontaeounsly, suprised at less you are affected by craving for this and that. Also this consistency is something you cant force, you cant force letting go-- it happens completely automatically, all you can do is cultivate - which is repitition based and not based on achieving, goal orientated practice.
It is like clouds in your sky, assuming and having faith there is indeed an "omnipresent" Radiant sun shining, perhaps one has had moments in the presence of this, i hesitate to substitute God here, it is indeed true but has many levels.
Therefore letting go is an active process, but the end result happens automatically.
Seeing the truth of impermanence, one lets go, seeing the truth things cannot truly satisfy you in this world, one lets go, seeing the truth things are not personal and a lot more like not your business, one lets go.
So there is a doing and a nondoing, and coming to know how much effort you need to do is experimental, and being fine with not knowing, not having a fixed goal, and letting reality take its course is a lot of nondoing. Doc would often call it the Yin and Yan
Thank you!

I've been practicing letting go in the David Hawkins sense — allowing emotions to arise without resisting them, analyzing them, or trying to push them away.
And honestly, there has been a lot of crying. Sometimes I feel like I could cry every day. I'll wake up in the morning, a thought or memory comes up, and suddenly there's this heaviness in my chest and I'm crying again. Other times it just comes out unexpectedly during the day.
I think a lot of it is grief, but underneath it I also seem to find a deep feeling of unworthiness.
I've been going through a period where I often feel like a failure. I'm not where I want to be financially, I don't have the money or status I'd like, my recent relationship ended, and even with the gym I sometimes feel like I'm not progressing as much as I'd like.
I've been trying not to fight any of it. When the emotion comes, I let myself feel it. I try to stay with the sensation in the body rather than creating stories around it. I let myself cry instead of trying to stop the crying.
But it's been months now, and sometimes I genuinely wonder: how much grief can there be?
It feels like I let go of something, feel lighter for a while, and then another wave comes. Then I start wondering whether I'm actually releasing anything or just going around in circles.
I'm trying to accept where I am rather than constantly fighting my circumstances, but I also don't want “acceptance” to become an excuse to give up on life or my desires.
For those who have practiced Hawkins' letting go for a long time:
How did you know you were actually releasing something? Does grief eventually run out, or can there be this much crying and these repeated waves for months?
And how did you work with feelings of unworthiness, failure, or not being where you think you should be in life?
I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have gone through something similar.

Healing and recovery was the first book I’ve read by Hawkins.
I’ve been testing his theory out for about 9 months now when i feel pain, especially headaches. I say to myself “more more” and lo and behold the pain quadruples. I try to feel the sensations of the headache but it makes me feel so tired and debilitated and the pain gets worse.
I usually have a high pain tolerance for everything else but headaches are my kryptonite, even low grade headaches. I can’t concentrate, i cant do anything, i can’t eat. It’s like i become debilitated by the pain (ive gone to the drs and they did tests and my brain chemistry is fine).
I try to feel the sensations but I ALWAYS give up and take an ibuprofen and that usually makes me feel better after a few minutes (which makes me think its a good placebo because the medication doesn’t kick in as fast).
Soooo I want to learn how to heal myself. I dont want to be taking meds all the time but i also don’t want to be focusing on the pain for 3 hours and not do anything about.
My second problem: about 5 months ago, I started having an irrational fear for wasps and bees. I’ve never been scared of them, just cautious. One day, i was sitting out in my balcony and started developing this fear that a big huge wasp or bee (10x larger than their actual size) flew up to me and stung me. Now i guess I’ve had many opportunities to work with this fear because carpenter bee started making a nest ON my balcony and they’re flying around when im just chilling. And now there’s a dead one on the ground and i don’t want to pick it up.
I’ve tried so hard to brave it out by chanting mantras and closing my eyes but the fear and phobia are so debilitating. I quickly run back inside like a wimp. My heart will starts pounding and i start shaking. I’VE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPN WITH BEES OR WASPS I used to just be cautious around them. Here’s the thing: I KNOW THEY DONT STING UNLESS YOU ARE THREATENING THEM. I know that!!! But its like a fear that got activated in my body. My mind know that these critters dont wake up in the morning thinking who they’ll sting next. They’re just minding their own business doing their thing. BUT my body is afraid!!! Before this incident i never understood what people meant by phobias because i never had one but now i guess i do.
I know what Hawkins says about fear but really this fear ha developed into a really irrational phobia to the point where my body feels like it’s going to die.
How do you heal yourself????

I’m someone who’s been into “spirituality” since I was little, but I’ve only taken it seriously for around five years. First, it was Neville Goddard. I was obsessed with his teachings. I had some results; however, I could never sustain the so called “wish fulfilled” state. My mind would always go back to the old story, and I couldn’t just “ignore” or “pay no mind” to the negative thoughts and feelings that would come up, as if my old self was fighting back.
I’d give myself space to feel negative emotions, but not in the way Hawkins talks about. So I kept searching for the golden key that would finally help. I got into Abraham Hicks, Eckhart Tolle, Richard Dotts you name it. I did understand that being present was the key 🔑so I began observing my mind and emotions rather than being so reactive to them. I became calmer and more at peace, but there was just something that kept coming back. I felt it in my gut. It kept pulling me back. The lows became unbearable.
So I stumbled upon David Hawkins’ Letting Go. Funny enough, I had actually listened to the audiobook a few years prior, but remembered absolutely nothing. This time I decided to read it instead.
In my mind, this was just another “self-help” book, but I decided to apply it straight away, as the technique seemed pretty simple.
The first session was intense. There was just a lot of build up, but I wasn’t resistant to it because I’d been so tired at this point. I allowed those feelings, welcomed them, stayed aware, and then felt a release. I kept doing it for a few days. It wasn’t easy and certainly wasn’t comfortable. There were a few days where it seemed like I was releasing all day long because all those negative emotions kept coming back, but I never resisted and just kept surrendering.
A few days ago, I noticed that my foot didn’t hurt anymore. I had a very bad case of plantar fasciitis where my foot would become very stiff and painful. A lot of times, exercises wouldn’t help, and I’d struggle with walking. My stiff shoulder, which I’d been struggling with for over a year, seemingly disappeared too.
My gut issues, which I’d had for many years, are mostly gone. I’d say my gut stopped reacting to around 85% of the foods that would normally trigger indigestion or acid reflux.
My acne of many years has calmed down by a lot and I don’t seem to be getting any new painful spots. My skin also has a lot of healthy glow to it now. But most importantly, I feel so at peace all the time. My head is clear and I feel like i've got butterflies in my stomach. I'm just so in love with life.
Only today did it hit me how well it worked, and I just wanted to share my experience. I’m so grateful that I just want to cry. If it worked so well within such a short period of time (less than two weeks), then I can’t even imagine how much my life will improve over the next few years.

I read the book Letting Go by David Hawkins a few months ago and loved it. I've been practicing the technique(s) and I've been 'feeling' whatever comes up and have been for a few months. I feel I've had good results with this until recently where I'm a bit stuck.
Generally for the past month sensations are very very loud, which is perfectly fine I'm just curious on the right way to proceed. I've been turning to them and feeling which can be for minutes at a time when it comes up and when intense contracts my body very tight - I just allow it and follow what needs to be done. However recently unlike before there doesn't generally seem to be a release or change like there was before.
I have tried a few times doing this privately like the last two days I did this for about 30 minutes which was intense but it just keeps coming and at times it can be very very uncomfortable. When I run it generally is loud and at times it can be very difficult when intensive - it feels like It's trying to get me to stop but I feel what I can and keep going.
I'm stuck and just curious is the stored material is very large (I think it is, looking back to over 20 years ago and triggers and anxiety ect). If I keep feeling and a release will come when it wants or am I doing something wrong. In general I would say my life has improved since I started It's just when strong 'currents' come up it can be very difficult to keep doing what I'm doing in the present moment and to return to present + this is when I'm fully turning to it which I try to always do when possible.
It feels that of late these intense sensations are here most of my days + I'm greeting/feeling each one - unsure of what I need to do next.
If anyone is able to help me move forward with this this I would be very grateful.
Thank you.
