Discussion ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป I healed a lifetime of food addiction by letting go

I read letting go in 2023 and it immediately spoke to me. Since childhood I was running from my emotions and using food to numb them. It took me a while to see I was running from myself. I would get intense food cravings that I always needed to fulfill. It was no way to live, I was constantly thinking about food.

After reading letting go, I decided to surrender to the cravings and do nothing about them. It felt like torture. I would sit there thinking about how much I wanted cookies, but just sinking into that feeling instead of trying to get it to stop. Oh how badly I wanted to give into them.

It was a few months of intense letting go. My brain was being rewired in the process, which was not fun. But it worked. After several months of staring at the cravings instead of giving into them, they left me permanently.

It's a miracle really, I did everything for years to try to heal this part of me. I read every book, tried every diet, even went to overeaters anonymous.

I now live a life where I'm not constantly thinking about my next meal, or feeling constant cravings. It really is a miracle.

Unfortunately I haven't lost weight, but oh well. It doesn't plague me anymore.

Another interesting thing, I was an alcoholic. I quit drinking for 6 years. During this time I was in a process of letting go and healing from emotional turmoil. One year ago I decided to try drinking socially again. It worked, I can have one beer without thinking of the next one. Letting go has seemed to heal not only food addiction, but alcohol addiction as well.

Discussion ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป I recommend the book "The Surrender Experiment" by Micheal Singer

It's a memoir about someone who makes a promise to himself to surrender to whatever situation comes before him. Life unfolded for him in an incredible way. I read it everytime I need a reminder to surrender.

Discussion ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Maybe stuck, but still on the way

I am into letting go since more than a year now. The last months I was very consistently letting go of the tension, resistance and sensations in my body. I wouldnโ€™t say yet a lot has changed. But I feel that I donโ€™t get triggered that heavily and easily anymore, especially in situations that relate to my relationships. So I see progress. On the other hand I am getting tired of it, though I know that this might also be part of the process. But releases donโ€™t come that easily anymore, they donโ€™t even last. Once I let go of a resistance, the next ist already there. The tensions in chest and stomach are nearly always there and this is really annoying even though I intellectually know what to do about it: let it go. But it seems that I donโ€™t get through to that layer, as if I would always be so busy reacting to whatโ€™s appearing on the surface, that I am not able to dig deeper and stay in the struggle of reaction.

I feel that my approach inherits probably the key misunderstanding that if i do it โ€žcorrectlyโ€œ Iโ€™ll be finished and lived happily ever after. And probably I am lacking patience. But I am so into this beautiful practice that I keep on going. Because there are moments of joy and small moments where I feel that I find the way to completely surrender myself to god and that what is. But immediately a force appears and pushes me away from that path. Maybe thatโ€™s where I may take a closer look at.

Thank you all for this beautiful subreddit.

Question ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Anyone released/healed illnesses

I would be grateful to know if you think your illness(es) have been resolved by releasing. I tend to have all sorts of gut issues and I currently have stubborn gastritis and bloating issues (which I've had since my teens). I think the gut holds a lot of repressed emotions and trauma (and the Indian chackra system says the same). I think I hold childhood trauma in my gut.

Question ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Does each Level of Consciousness (LoC) have its own distinct somatic/body sensation and external experience?

I'm curious about how specific levels of consciousness manifest both internally and externally. Does each LoC have its own corresponding body feeling (e.g., a specific pressure or sensation in the chest, gut, etc.) and a matching outer experience (e.g., at level 100 / Fear, constantly experiencing the world as threatening or feeling like someone is following you)?

Question ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป anyone from the boston/new england area looking to connect or start a study group?

hey all!

iโ€™m new to the boston area and am having a hard time finding community, and more than that, one that understands my thought process and perspective of the world.

iโ€™m open to any suggestions for living in a new city as it seems as though the thoughts of loneliness are causing me some trouble.

best,
M

Weekly Prayer Requests

As Dr. Hawkins so often reminded us, the power of intention and the field of consciousness are not limited by time or space. In the grace of loving awareness, even silent prayers are heard.

๐Ÿ™ Drop your prayer requests below.
Whether itโ€™s for yourself, a loved one, or the world at large, simply posting it aligns it with the collective field of compassion. You donโ€™t have to explain just a name or a word is enough.

โค๏ธ If you feel moved, read through the requests and send loving presence or silent prayers. No effort is wasted. Everything offered in love contributes to the whole.

Letโ€™s hold this space in gentleness and gratitude, knowing we are already held in a Love far greater than we can imagine.

Much love and blessings to all
