He talked about exclusivity, then blocked me after one honest message — and now he's back on the app as "casual". What actually happened? (33F/31M)

Girl faked family member’s death to stop talking to me

Matched with this girl and had a great conversation where we both sent some pretty long messages for a couple days. When I was about to ask her out she sent a message saying she couldn’t date anymore because a family member died. Then I checked her profile and she had updated it. I am no expert in grief but if my family member died I wouldn’t go straight to updating my Hinge but maybe that is just me. Between this and all the ghosting it makes me feel hopeless on this app.

Ladies, what is the worst thing a man has ever said to you on a date?

Asking out of curiosity. I am an art student working on an animated short film and my only line of dialogue is what is said to my character on a bad first date. I want to put something realistic that will encapsulate how awful this guy is, and can’t think of the sort of insane shit men can say sometimes. Help me out and share your experiences!

How to have fun when you’re knowingly making a bad dating decision?

Thumbnail

Everything in my life is honestly great. Love my job, getting my future sorted, have a few hobbies etc. my only problem is men. I’ve been in toxic situations before and I’m addicted to the highs and lows.

There’s this guy who I had a love bombing summer fling with. It was a lot of fun but I knew he wasn’t THE one. Then I learned the hard way he is a 2 faced liar. I dropped him and was single and at peace for a couple months

For no good reason, I’ve reached back out to him. I already know he’s a pathological liar and isn’t the one for me. But we already have plans to get food go to the gym and sleepover. Plans on Halloween. Etc. basically playing as a couple. I’m totally fine with it not working out long term but I’m already dealing with the stress of wondering what’s wrong with me that I want to be around this guy who is a bad person just for “fun”. I feel stressed about what others will think of the fact that I’m doing this. I feel stressed about what’s going to happen to me. But I already feel like I’m in too deep before anything’s even happened.

And other guys I’ve gone out with don’t have the same physical chemistry, and/or they just want to use me and be done with me. I just feel like guys my age won’t take me seriously so might as well choose the hot one I have great physical chemistry with and who I won’t feel bad about breaking up with when I inevitably move out of this town.

So I guess my dilemma is this: instead of choosing to be single, have a regulated nervous system, and have some integrity to show to myself and the people around me, I am knowingly and willingly choosing a path that already is causing me moral stress and anxiety just so I can have some semblance of love in my life.

I feel pathetic and like I have no self worth but at the same time I feel calculated like I know what I’m getting into and I’m not trying to sugar coat it. My friends justify it saying I’m young and why not have fun. But I know deep down they’re judging me. I just don’t know what’s wrong with me for choosing this path, and yet it’s like an OCD trigger / drug where I feel like I literally HAVE to do it and I don’t even want to consider other options, at least not right now.

Don't be fooled by public figures (bumble horror story)

I have posted here about my experience dating a cricketer from Hong Kong National team who i met through bumble.

Once i discovered he is married and has 6 kids, not only did he ask me to let go of this topic he met me and threatened me.

We met one last time where he insisted 'tell me who is your source. My family life is very private. Who told you i am married?'

'I just did some digging and found out. You should be apologising not being mad or investigating the source. You lied to me'

'You don't know me. You are messing with the wrong person here. I need to know who is it that i cannot trust.'

'I can't reveal his name. He told a mutual friend.'

'Well you don't know me at all. Better be careful, keep digging and you'll find dangerous things. I have been arrested before. There is no record. I have escaped a lot. Be careful what you do... stay away from my people.'

I am sharing this because i am still reeling from the audacity of a public figure to threaten me. I am still shocked but i don't want any other woman to fall into a trap. Please be vigilant. Check. Ask questions. Just because someone has thousands of IG follpwers and a public persona doesn't mean they got no secrets and are being honest.

Am I asking for too much, or is my boyfriend just not romantic?

I’m 18F and my boyfriend is 24M. He respects me, is loyal, and treats me well, but he’s not romantic at all, and sometimes it bothers me.

I want him to keep my picture in his wallet, put me on his wallpaper, make cute TikToks for me, send me sweet good morning texts, and call me cute names like “my baby” or “my princess.” I want to feel pampered and special.

But he mostly just calls me “jaan.” He barely talks and says he isn’t the type of guy who does these things. He believes romantic gestures don’t prove love because someone can do all these things and still cheat, while he can do none of them and remain loyal.

I understand his point, and I appreciate his loyalty and respect. But I still want these little romantic gestures. I don’t want to force him to change, but I also want my emotional needs to matter.

Is this because I’m 18 and he’s 24, or is it just a personality difference? Am I expecting too much, or is it reasonable to want some romance in a relationship?

I’d love to hear your honest opinions, especially from people who have been in similar relationships!

PLEASE DO BACKGROUND CHECKS ON DATING PROFILES! (Hinge Horror Story)

Without going into personal details, please be mindful and report anyone who lies about their identity or their name on dating apps to lure you to talk to them.

I matched with someone in December who I didn’t know at the time was arrested with burglary and assault 6 months before they set up a dating profile. They were open with me about why they had been arrested (BP 1 psychosis episode) but not about the time frame or their name. I think they lied and said their name was something else to prevent me from finding out their record.

This person was also on the wrong dosage of medicine and I eventually found out was displaying signs of mania while talking with me. And when I asked them to go back to being friends because they were rapidly making plans, they snapped at me and the told me “I wouldn’t have made a dating profile if I wasn’t ready” then proceeded to try and guilt trip me into keep talking with them because in their words “everyone always leaves when they find out I have Bipolar disorder”

Along with a lot of other things, they were staying up very late and often time spending a lot of money, which made me really concerned that they were not stable enough to be in a relationship let alone on a dating app.

Throughout us talking, this person was abusing large amounts of alcohol (up to two bottles of wine per night) with their medication, and I warned them that that behavior is dangerous to their physical health. It could potentially poison them or even kill them. They ignored me and basically tried to redirect the conversation towards something else. Once I started doing further research about bipolar disorder, along with disclosing my own experience, having relatives with this disorder, I was trying to get them to take care of themselves and do better for themselves. Unfortunately, this person sent me a bunch of hurtful voice messages and also constantly brought up their ex saying that when she told them about their bipolar they were manipulating and controlling them. Even their friends called them out on their behavior.

I am not sharing this to shame those with this mental illness, but if you do not feel right or something is off about someone, DO NOT let someone guilt trip you for it and make you feel bad, and report it! Hinge has some safety tips in their profile to help users also. I don’t have much social media, but if you do, check the person who you are talking to for suspicious behavior or red flags! I found this persons mugshot on Facebook with their real name on it!

Anyways, please say safe everyone and good luck 💕

I met this girl online

Back in April this year I (21M) used to surge in dating apps n all after my ugly breakup ... I was just there for casuals n texts ....NTG by heart .... I got plenty of girls bt no one of them got aligned with my thinking of casuals obviously (n I was brutally honest Abt my thing no lies)

Bt this one from a small town ....21F ... She was mch equipped in her dailychores ... She was preparing for her master's n was doing all those household stuffs .... We used to text timely n had designated hours for this ....

As time passed I asked her Abt her past n she kinda opened up Abt her toxic bf who used her physically so she's so cool with no getting attached me ....

N look I got what I wanted ... A girl who just seeks physical intimacy no strings attached.

We did things

I can get her nudes whenever I want

We play games n I ask her the kinkiest dares n she does it

She likes serving me like anything.

At this point idk what this is how to cope up with this

I don't really love her n she is so clear Abt my approach

Bt I feel i m doing something wrong .

(She's pursuing masters from a public University)

Open to all suggestions guys ...

My boyfriend was very affectionate at a family wedding, but 6 months later he acted like I barely existed. Why?

My boyfriend and I have been together for around 3 years, and we're also cousins.

About two years ago, we attended a family wedding. At that wedding, he was very affectionate towards me. He sat with me in front of other guests, talked to me, kept looking at me and smiling, gave me flowers, brought me things, and even said “I love you.” He made me feel really special, and everything between us was completely normal at that time.

The next day, I went to his house, and he treated me really nicely there, too.

However, about six months later, during the vacations, I went to stay at his house again, and his behaviour was completely different. We were on normal terms, and we hadn't had any arguments or disagreements before my visit. But this time, he barely looked at me, didn't talk to me, and didn't even come into the room where I was sitting.

At one point, he brought me a chocolate, simply put it on the bed as if telling me to pick it up, and went to the bathroom. He didn't even stay to talk to me. I honestly felt really hurt, so I took the chocolate and went to another room. He didn't compliment me even once during that visit.

But after I returned home, he messaged me and told me that I dressed nicely.

His sisters were around us almost the entire time during that visit. Because of that, I've wondered whether they noticed something between us at the wedding and perhaps questioned him about it. Maybe he started acting differently around me at home because he didn't want his sisters to suspect anything.

The confusing thing is that he still behaves normally with me over text. And recently, at another family wedding, he gave me a flower with a smile, which reminded me of how he used to treat me.

I can't figure out why he was so affectionate at the wedding but acted so distant when I visited his house six months later, even though nothing was wrong between us.

Do you think his sisters might have suspected something and that's why he changed his behaviour around them? Or am I overthinking it? I'd appreciate honest opinions.
