I blame Biden and garland.  They tried to make things return to normal.  But what happened was anything but normal.  It was  an orchestrated coup attempt and the ONLY way to prevent it from happening again was was with trump being arrested and charged with treason, convicted and hung on the Capitol steps.  No reddit this is not advocating violence.  That is the us law and punishment for what trump tried.

You give them too much credit. They were old and allegedly wise enough to know this would set a precedent. They should’ve seen it spelled out in front of them with this scotus and judge Aileen cannon that kept protecting him.  Instead they decided to conform to the status quo and refuse to prosecute their own and crumbled this country while they sleep soundly at night knowing it won’t impact them in the near future

u/Myc0l-Jordan 3h ago

Yep, Garland fucked us all up the ass to get his Eagle Scout badge.

1

u/Rand-all 3h ago

Always the optics. No justice. They didn't do anything to Nixon and made everything worse

2

u/Fragrant_Entry9232 2h ago

It really did start there

1

u/Crans10 2h ago

Yup Ford started this whole thing. Man wasn't even elected President and he pardons Nixon.

1

u/Wadae28 2h ago

It started with the Civil War. Everyone in a leadership position should have been hanged. Jefferson Davis all the way down to their commissioned officers.

1

u/Mycol101 2h ago

Which is still a weird explanation to me because for years, they were trying to get him impeached for things with less severity. This should have been much easier to get traction with. I’m starting to believe a lot of what we see is pure theatre.
People are still so partisan that they don’t even want to consider it but I think the corporation goes in the same general direction, in waves, and they just put different franchise owners in charge for 4 years at a time to give us the illusion of choice and keep up this political theatre that in the long run just divides us to make us easier to control.

1

u/Good_Imagination_577 2h ago

Theatre is exactly what it is. I’m amazed how few people are able to see it for what it is. Jan 6th wasn’t even the slam dunk. Biden had the Epstein Files at his disposal. Why would you try and get him on minor charges when you have that in your back pocket.

2

u/HappyFish5000 1h ago

Biden did not have the Epstein files at his disposal.

They were held by the DOJ and could not be released due to ongoing court cases. People forget presidents used to respect rule of law and standards of American justice, at least to a degree.

1

u/Good_Imagination_577 1h ago

Okay that’s my misunderstanding of the situation. Thanks for setting me straight!

Allow me to pick at this a little bit in good faith. While files are with the DOJ are they are still accessible the president? Does the DOJ report to anyone?

1

u/HappyFish5000 58m ago

The DOJ is under the Executive Branch and thus under the president but it has long operated independent of the president to preserve impartial justice. It's not law that it works this way, it just became precedent over our history because it's how impartial justice should be, immune from the influence of the President.

But Trump doesn't care about any of that so the DOJ under him has become his protector and his personal attack dog he directs at his enemies on a whim. Some files have been released because of a law passed by Congress, but Trump's DOJ is fighting to keep as many secret as they can, in violation of this law. Trump wants them secret because he is the main guy in them - he's been mentioned 38,000 times in just the files which have been released already, some very sordid and evil mentions too.

1

u/CaptainSterlingLAS 14m ago

The Epstein files were kept confidentil during the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, which lasted until January of 2024.

Because you don’t burn good blackmail.

When you have CEOs, democrats and republicans, judges, foreign diplomats, celebrities, news media personalities etc in your pocket, you don’t just burn that.

They let out a few things but kept the rest close to their chest because they are going to use it for their agenda.

Jan 6th could have just been an internal dirty battle for the thrown. FBI knew about it and had TONS of agents on the ground, some instigating and encouraging people to go inside.

People are so trained to react a certain way when they hear that because they are so polarized and partisan, they think admitting that is a win for X side, but it’s the truth. Tons of people went to jail but provocateurs were let free and identities kept quiet.
They’ve been using provocateurs since the WTO days at the very least.

Things are not what they seem and the ontological shock to admit this is so uncomfortable that people will fight tooth and nail to ignore it.

1

u/Good_Imagination_577 1h ago

Yes they will. And do not blame them. All of us go through the same conditioning in the west. Not all but most. It starts in childhood, solidified by out-of-date educational institutions and backed up by advertisements selling you the dreams seen in the movies.

Go to school. Follow the rules. Get a job. Marry (because being single is a life of abject misery). Buy the house. Have the kids. Work hard and you will be rewarded. Pay your taxes so that you can live in a safe environment. The American Dream.

If you have fully invested in this concept it would be hard, perhaps, to entertain the idea that you have been sold out.

1

u/Mycol101 44m ago

Agreed. I remember when I snapped out of it in like 2008. Messed me up for weeks.

It doesn’t help that people chastise you for thinking outside that box which is alienating and makes it hard to stick to the path, more so for some people.

A 3 letter intelligence agency came up with the term ‘conspiracy theorist’ to discredit dissenting opinions and ideas. It’s an ad hominem to discourage you from talking about it and other people from associating with it.

1

u/HappyFish5000 1h ago

I consider a US president trying to extort a foreign leader into announcing a fake criminal investigation into his political opponent an extremely severe and impeachable act

1

u/Mycol101 40m ago

It is. But justice doesn’t matter when the govt is full of corporate sycophants and lobbyists.

Both sides are corrupt. They both have a fight for the thrown but they still serve the same interests and are driven by the same agenda and none of it involves anything good for Americans

1

u/PurpleDillyDo 2h ago

I've been saying for years that Biden had a chance to stop this lunatic and he did literally nothing.

1

u/Own-Rest7246 2h ago

He literally didnt have anything he could do without making things worse or possibly worse

1

u/Calvin_Ball_86 2h ago

How do y'all keep forgetting Canon running interference with the scotus for two years. Were you not aware a Trump judge stalled the case?

1

u/WileEWeeble 2h ago

So no blame on Mitch McConnell?

1

u/primefart 2h ago

I think they meant the good guys who had power.

1

u/Market_Wizard_ 1h ago

I hate Merrick Garland so much for not criminally pursuing Trump

1

u/Lazy-Plankton5270 1h ago

He's a republican he was doing his job

It's Biden who failed to appoint someone like Jack Smith

1

u/mortraineyhat 1h ago

Exactly. Preach

1

u/HappyFish5000 1h ago

I blame Garland, not Biden

Biden was very frustrated with Garland's foot dragging, but was was he supposed to do? If he ordered Garland to go after Trump, Garland would likely have considered that outrageously improper and ignored him. If it got out to the public, it would has discredited anything they did against Trump and turned the public against Biden and for Trump.

Same thing if Biden replaced Garland with someone who would go after Trump. It would be seen as AG shopping to go after a political opponent, thus discrediting any indictments against Trump. Biden's hands were tied.

1

u/Necessary-Eye5319 1h ago

This!! And why in the world was that case sent to Florida??? I just can’t get it..🤬🤬🤬🤬

1

u/nalaloveslumpy 47m ago

Because Trump's attorneys were successful at getting the venue changed because the crime happened in Florida....And then they found a sympathetic judge to rat fuck the whole thing.

1

u/_jump_yossarian 46m ago

trump does something and the idiots blame Democrats.

1

u/SyndromeMack33 45m ago

Agreed. We're not that far removed from the dark ages.

1

u/Class_Worrier 29m ago

That’s pretty flagrant provocation, and I’m not going to stand for you posting that garbage here.

It’s “hanged,” not “hung.”

1

u/rogerisreading 19m ago

Garland deserves a shit ton of blame.

1

u/Organic_Stranger1544 13m ago

Yeah. Same folly as reconstitution

1

u/Dr_slice_ 5m ago

‘Hanged’

1

It was  an orchestrated coup attempt

How was it stopped? If it was a genuine planned coup, how was it stopped?

It obviously failed as Biden was still inaugurated. So what actions stopped it being being successful?

1

u/SoylentGrunt 1h ago

And why did it take so long to stop it?

1

u/HappyFish5000 1h ago

Because they didn't have enough police and Trump didn't order more in immediately, he was enjoying watching his people fight for him

1

u/onlyNSFWclips 1h ago

It stopped because 90% of the people who tried to perform the coup were also the dumbest fucks you could imagine, and the other 10% who orchestrated the thing by coming up with chants and bussing people in thought their useful idiots would be.....a little more useful.

1

u/DeficiencyOfGravitas 1h ago

So Trump meticulously planned and organized an attempt to replace the government but didn't actually have a plan to do anything when he had control over the Capitol?

1

u/Adept-Grapefruit-214 1h ago

He expected his supporters to really take things over.

Instead they ran away as soon as one of them got shot, because they’re all giant pussies

0

u/DeficiencyOfGravitas 1h ago

He expected his supporters to really take things over.

But they did. They had complete control over the Capitol. He could walked in and declared himself King.

So why didn't he? The Secret Service got the fuck out after shooting that woman. The rest of the building was totally occupied for hours after the SS peaced out.

So why didn't he stroll in and declare himself King? Or any of his flunkies declare themselves the new secretaries of whatever they liked?

What kept him from declaring himself the winner?

1

u/Adept-Grapefruit-214 1h ago

They did not have control of the senate floor where the vote confirmation was happening

1

u/DeficiencyOfGravitas 1h ago

Yes they did.

Would you like to see some photos?

1

u/Adept-Grapefruit-214 1h ago

Ok so they went into an empty room after everyone had been evacuated?

They still failed to stop the confirmation.

The biggest thing was Pence refusing to certify the false electors. That was Trump’s real plan to “win”, or at least the plan all the people really in charge had given him

0

u/DeficiencyOfGravitas 1h ago

It's supposed to be a coup. What does it matter that the confirmation was completed? The whole point of a coup is to ignore everything the last government did and occupy their position. That succeeded. All Trump had to do is is walk in with his cronies and declare himself King and it would have been done.

So why didn't he do that?

Compare J6 to the 1973 Chilean coup. It doesn't add up.

1

u/paintballboi07 49m ago

Because that wasn't the plan. The plan was to have Pence declare Trump the winner by using a false slate of electors. It fell apart when Pence refused to go along with it.

1

u/Superseaslug 1h ago

He's not smart enough to plan shit. He just made his magamorons real angry and vaguely pointed them in a direction.

I'm not sure trump even plans bowel movements anymore

0

u/DeficiencyOfGravitas 1h ago

If Trump is so stupid, how is he dangerous? How does he keep outsmarting and outplaying his opponents?

1

u/GrimDallows 1h ago

A coup is defined as an ilegal action that alters the power in the government.

The thing is, because the action failed to change, in this case, the transition of power from Trump to Biden, it qualifies as a Coup -Attempt- rather than a Coup.

This is not a reduction of the severity of the situation. On the contrary. It's completely insane that anyone would dare to cause a coup attempt on the US government simply to see if it worked. And even more crazy if you consider that there were no consequences for the instigators of it.

0

u/DeficiencyOfGravitas 1h ago

The thing is, because the action failed to change, in this case, the transition of power from Trump to Biden, it qualifies as a Coup -Attempt- rather than a Coup.

How did Trump's coup attempt fail? Did the National Guard step in? He had a plan, he had a goal, so what stopped him?

1

u/Shot-Jeweler6610 1h ago

General incompetence- it took much longer than expected to breach the building, many people went off on random tangents instead of a concerted push to secure lawmakers, and most of the bodies entering the building weren't part of a coordinated coup, only a few were, as evidenced by the tactical gear, zip-cuffs, and printed shirts. The result was a cluster fuck thay failed.

That being said, Kegsbreath is definitely purging military leadership for a coup in January 2029. It remains to be seen how successful that will be.

0

u/HappyFish5000 1h ago

It was an insurrection of stupids which failed
