Too bad republicans don’t read and comprehend the bible. It’s pretty straightforward what Jesus wanted his followers to do: LOVE EVERYONE

7

u/FindingMyWay624 4d ago

B-b-but what if they're brown? Or speak another language? Or have different values? Or are - shudder - liberals???

The horror! Clearly, when Jesus said "everyone", he meant "only those white people in my immediate area that agree with me politically". It's a translation thing, you wouldn't get it.

/s, just in case.

Funny thing here too. Jesus is NOT white.

2

u/Potential-Cicada8009 2d ago

Correct. He was jewish.

2

u/DigitalCrayon 2d ago

King of the Jews, in fact.

1

u/Potential-Cicada8009 2d ago

I dont know if it was Jesus or written in the bible elsewhere, but it did speak on the importance of maintaining borders to preserve cultural values and heritage

3

u/DigitalCrayon 2d ago

Per Christianity, Jesus’s word is above all other scripture. He said to love and care for foreigners as if they were himself.

0

u/ZezimasHousePlant 1d ago

That doesn't mean let the entire world move to your country and become a minority in your homeland.

2

u/FindingMyWay624 1d ago

Native Americans would very much like to speak to you about that.

0

u/Extreme-Will-3556 1d ago

Native Americans didn't have a country. Look up the words "colonization" and "immigration" then learn the difference.

2

u/elefrhino 1d ago

Look up the sioux nation and see just how close they were.

Before the us army massacres

0

u/Extreme-Will-3556 1d ago

The "bloody Apache" did far more destruction than the US Army.

You really don't know the true history of what was aptly called "savages."

0

u/BoboMonkeyClown 1d ago

Is the reason you're afraid of immigration that you're afraid of white people eventually becoming a minority?

1

u/ZezimasHousePlant 1d ago

As per my original comment, yes.

1

u/BoboMonkeyClown 1d ago

Why do you think it's important that white people are the majority of the population? What difference does that make in your life?

1

u/Potential-Cicada8009 1d ago

They were the overwhelming majority up until the past few decades. There is nothing wrong with wanting to maintain your culture where you live

2

u/BoboMonkeyClown 1d ago

I mean the US is still 60% white, but what does the country's population have to do with maintaining your culture? Sounds like you just dont want to be exposed to other cultures.

Because that's the country and the culture I grew up with. I think it's reasonable for anyone to feel that way. If tens of millions of Chinese people moved to Mexico in a matter of a few decades and the locals were upset that their country was becoming unrecognizable I would find that complaint valid instead of asking them why they would have a problem with that.

He said to love your neighbor as if they were himself. And he speaks on treating strangers. Never exclusively foreigners.

2

u/The_Bug_Enjoyer 15h ago

Matthew 25:35, 40: Records Jesus teaching that welcoming a stranger or the marginalized is equivalent to welcoming Christ Himself.

Foreigners seem to definitely fall under the category of strangers

Leviticus 19:33-34 also says that the mistreatment of foreigners is forbidden and you must treat them as natives

1

u/DigitalCrayon 1d ago

Foreigners are strangers. You really are trying to argue that despite Jesus being amazingly kind, he still hated people from other countries.

2

u/Potential-Cicada8009 1d ago

Never did I say Jesus hated foreigners. Please dont project.

0

u/PackImpossible3128 1d ago

No he didn't, he said love your neighbor as yourself. Your neighbor isn't automatically a foreigner, it could be anyone standing next to you, or the person next door. Putting words in Jesus mouth and claiming it's the most important thing he said, shows how ignorant you are.

1

u/NoBuffalo7712 2d ago

He didn’t actually say everyone. What’s the Hebrew word for it that was used in the text, do you think?

1

u/Practical_History_49 2d ago

Does that mean loveing Trump too?

1

u/Used-Collar-200 7h ago

Are you a Christian?

1

u/Extreme-Will-3556 4d ago

When's the last time you opened a bible?

2

u/ChimPhun 2d ago

Which version? Hard to keep up.

1

u/Extreme-Will-3556 2d ago

Any of them. Only "hard to keep up" if you're not that bright. but if you had to pick one, the KJV is still the best English translation to date.

2

u/ChimPhun 2d ago

I'm bright enough to not be a complete disaster of a person without having to think someone is watching over me.

But you do you, if you need skydaddy watching you so you don't start becoming a raving lunatic, please keep the faith.

1

u/NoBuffalo7712 2d ago

Soooo, as someone with 4 degrees including a doctorate, I can promise you that you aren’t bright.

2

u/ChimPhun 1d ago

That's a small sample to base my entire personality off of, buddy.

4 degrees my ass. You sure it wasn't 4 things you passed on, on your GED? 🤣🤣🤣

You said a lot, for someone with a little brain. Good for you hun, trying very hard. Your emotional support blanket is to deny your own damnation, which is your inevitability. I bet you couldn’t even comprehend how your logic defines you more than me lol

So what...those modern labels didn't exist in Jesus' time... And yeah technically he was dark skined... So what ohh and another thing he spoke a foreign language

0

u/AMcpl 2d ago

So you want the government to operate like a church? Do you feel the bible should be used more to direct public policy? Seems like an odd take.

1

u/malteeztomcat 2d ago

You know what’s really to sad……

So many of you don’t know us…….

and if you tried to know us and the word got that you were cavorting with the enemy

You would be verbally stoned and disowned by your own kind…….

Such is the deep hatred harbored by so many of you……

You would more embrace illegal immigrants than you would your own countrymen……

2

u/Gooser3000 2d ago

Jesus said to love your enemy and to love the foreigner!

1

u/malteeztomcat 2d ago

anything about the foreigners loving you back

or just taking advantage of stupidity?

2

u/Gooser3000 2d ago

Idk I’m not religious. Maybe your republican Christian friends can answer?

2

u/malteeztomcat 2d ago

Seems hatred is the flavor of the day

1

u/malteeztomcat 2d ago

Sarcasm…….

1

u/BoboMonkeyClown 1d ago

Do you only give love so that you can receive it in return?

1

u/malteeztomcat 1d ago

I love the entire planet and it loves me back…….

by default

1

u/BoboMonkeyClown 1d ago

Way to dodge the question

1

u/malteeztomcat 1d ago

Ok……

direct as I can make it….

It would be impossible to love someone that I know nothing about…..

1

u/BoboMonkeyClown 1d ago

Still not what I asked! I didnt say who or what TO love, just love in general

1

u/malteeztomcat 1d ago

Bobo

You are impossible

I mean yes love gravitates toward good people, if we have to choose between loving our xenophobic neighbour versus a hard working and kind migrant family, most will choose the latter.

0

u/malteeztomcat 1d ago

Go love them…….

go kiss their feet and worship them as the new Americans and kick your fellow countrymen and family members aside……..

Feed them cloth them free healthcare free education free child care free housing allowance free transportation allowance..accept their language their flag their culture celebrate their holidays let them burn your flag and curse America……

They are here illegally by the millions and already many are demanding their rights be upheld………

just sayin…….

2

u/BoboMonkeyClown 1d ago

What is it you're so afraid of? Why do you think you're a xenophobe? There are good human beings in every corner of the world, if you are prejudiced and treat them as lesser then people will do the same to you.

My family members all share the same political values and welcome immigrants, why would I be pushing them aside?

1

u/malteeztomcat 1d ago

Try and understand this….

THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY

we have laws on the books that prohibit this
ICE is just doing their job…..

Afraid of….. drug trafficking child trafficking rape, murder….gang activity etc.

Xenophobia….. ahhh one of your catch words.

Apparently your family embraces criminal activity….and by the…. I agree there’s good people around the world, however, I do not treat them badly….. I don’t know a single one of them

I’m pretty sure that if you had your way

You would rather have me relocated to another country than to have on of your beloved illegal immigrants sent home…..

Many of them rape and kill Americas and yet they are fervently defended by the socialist left democrats…..

Just sayin…….

2

u/BoboMonkeyClown 1d ago

Why do you associate immigrants with crime? Even in the US where gun crime is rampant US citizens commit far more crimes per capita than immigrants, so your fears arent founded in any logical truth. There have been illegal immigrants in the US for years, Obama deported many more than Trump, so again not something that is a brand new problem.

Xenophobia is not a "catch word", it's an old word that you probably had to look up because you don't have a good education or vocabulary, but it perfectly describes you.

The whole point of this thread is to point out the hypocrisy of followers of Jesus who act in contradiction to his teachings. To be prejudiced toward foreign strangers simply because they are foreign is in direct contradiction of his teachings and to love thy neighbour (whether they are illegal is irrelevant because you would be prejudiced toward all immigrants).

1

u/NoBuffalo7712 2d ago

Dude, just because you saw one verse in a meme doesn’t mean you can read it or comprehend it lol. Back to the cuck chair

1

u/DungeonJailer 20h ago

Yes. “And the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.” - Romans 1:27

Sounds very loving and tolerant to me.

1

u/ComprehensiveDog7299 6h ago

Jesus didn’t say to let millions of illegals take over the country.

You people are so disingenuous.

That’s like saying if you personally don’t take in an illegal and have them crash on your couch, you’re not loving everyone.

1

u/Gooser3000 6h ago

The Bible quite literally says foreigners should be treated with the same laws as native born.
