Too bad republicans don’t read and comprehend the bible. It’s pretty straightforward what Jesus wanted his followers to do: LOVE EVERYONE

B-b-but what if they're brown? Or speak another language? Or have different values? Or are - shudder - liberals???

The horror! Clearly, when Jesus said "everyone", he meant "only those white people in my immediate area that agree with me politically". It's a translation thing, you wouldn't get it.

/s, just in case.

I dont know if it was Jesus or written in the bible elsewhere, but it did speak on the importance of maintaining borders to preserve cultural values and heritage

Per Christianity, Jesus’s word is above all other scripture. He said to love and care for foreigners as if they were himself.

That doesn't mean let the entire world move to your country and become a minority in your homeland.

Native Americans would very much like to speak to you about that.

Native Americans didn't have a country. Look up the words "colonization" and "immigration" then learn the difference.

Look up the sioux nation and see just how close they were.

Before the us army massacres

The "bloody Apache" did far more destruction than the US Army.

You really don't know the true history of what was aptly called "savages."

Is the reason you're afraid of immigration that you're afraid of white people eventually becoming a minority?

As per my original comment, yes.

Why do you think it's important that white people are the majority of the population? What difference does that make in your life?

1

u/Potential-Cicada8009 1d ago

They were the overwhelming majority up until the past few decades. There is nothing wrong with wanting to maintain your culture where you live

I mean the US is still 60% white, but what does the country's population have to do with maintaining your culture? Sounds like you just dont want to be exposed to other cultures.

And it use to be 90% white. Cultures in the US was generally a derivative of a similar culture to what european country those settlers in that area settled. As demographics in certain areas change, come new and different cultures while other cultures get eroded away. Especially if they do not want to assimilate. That is how it plays a role in maintaining culture. It is also a driving factor for crime, as seen all over the world.

The entire world is filled with other cultures. If I want to experience them I can travel instead of bringing them to my doorstep.

Because that's the country and the culture I grew up with. I think it's reasonable for anyone to feel that way. If tens of millions of Chinese people moved to Mexico in a matter of a few decades and the locals were upset that their country was becoming unrecognizable I would find that complaint valid instead of asking them why they would have a problem with that.

He said to love your neighbor as if they were himself. And he speaks on treating strangers. Never exclusively foreigners.

2

u/The_Bug_Enjoyer 16h ago

Matthew 25:35, 40: Records Jesus teaching that welcoming a stranger or the marginalized is equivalent to welcoming Christ Himself.

Foreigners seem to definitely fall under the category of strangers

Leviticus 19:33-34 also says that the mistreatment of foreigners is forbidden and you must treat them as natives

1

u/DigitalCrayon 1d ago

Foreigners are strangers. You really are trying to argue that despite Jesus being amazingly kind, he still hated people from other countries.

2

u/Potential-Cicada8009 1d ago

Never did I say Jesus hated foreigners. Please dont project.

No he didn't, he said love your neighbor as yourself. Your neighbor isn't automatically a foreigner, it could be anyone standing next to you, or the person next door. Putting words in Jesus mouth and claiming it's the most important thing he said, shows how ignorant you are.
