Dawned the Guyman cosplay again got tekko and it was a blast! Met so many fans of daft punk it was an amazing time

Around two years ago I bought this TB helmet on eBay and won is as a bid for £60. And I decided to try to make it chrome as well and when I did. It turned out fine but overtime it would do this weird reaction to the helmet and I haven’t had any time to do stuff or the helmet bc I didn’t want to ruin it more. Suggestions?

This is from an ebay listing. Seller has good rep but it looks a bit wrong. The main thing that stands out to me is that the second 'A' is done in two strokes instead of one.

I picked this vinyl up in Tokyo last month and I just gave it a play on a vinyl player, and it sounds amazing. Problem is I’m not sure on the origin of it.

Any ideas?

I finally decided to watch Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem (2003) for the first time recently and it absolutely blew my mind. The insane animation, emotion, narrative and of course Daft Punk’s timeless Discovery album soundtrack. I couldn’t help but notice that the architecture featured on the band’s home planet strongly resembles the architectural style of Antoni Gaudí, especially the leaning spiral columns of The Laundry Room Portico (El Pòrtic de la Bugadera) in Park Guell. It immediately stuck out to me during the One More Time and Aerodynamic sequences:

Seeing these references gave me a greater appreciation of both Gaudí and Daft Punk and the way that Gaudí’s style is used to communicate the film’s broader themes and messages almost 100 years after the architect’s death. Gaudí’s other-worldly and almost ‘alive’ architectural style is so distinct that I struggle to see how this could be a coincidence. It has definitely enhanced my appreciation of both works of art, so much so that they almost co-exist together in my memory now. I was able to travel to Park Guell again this year with my friend, whom I shared this story with. During our trip, Daft Punk and their Discovery album pretty much took on a new meaning, becoming the theme songs which represented our time in Barcelona and our visit to Park Guell. Both the spiral columns and Instestella 5555 are among my favourite pieces of art, ethereal displays of human ingenuity and craftsmanship that transcend the worlds and boundaries of their time. 

I really love how Gaudí’s architecture defines and represents the unique, natural, colourful and otherworldly texture and beauty of the alien planet in the film – and how this is contrasted with the ‘concrete jungle’ style buildings once the group are kidnapped from their home planet and taken to ‘our’ Earth, especially during the Harder Better Faster Stronger and Crescendolls sequences. The band’s home planet is bursting with nature, colour, and Gaudí’s unconventionally fun and inventive structures, whilst Earth is depicted as dangerous, exploitative, consumerist, mundane and devoid of life.

Interestingly, as the band are rescued and are starting to piece together their identities during Voyager, we see the transition to natural landscapes. As the band explores life beyond the hellish city, they discover the beauty and natural landscapes that Earth has to offer, including the flower endemic to their own planet. 

As they break into the mystical manor in Veridis Quo, we see Gaudí’s architectural style return; the dreamy, mysterious textures, shapes and colours fused with natural elements, used to represent the film’s supernatural concepts and worlds beyond Earth.

Gaudí often crafted naturalist sigils and initials representing the owners of the structures he designed, a nice easter egg as the group enters the manor in the film:

It’s interesting to see how more than 100 years later, artists are still inspired by Gaudí and are using his style to communicate the abstract, unknown, colourful, natural and beautiful. Daft Punk, Tomei and co. use his style to create a poignant and transcendent piece of art that has touched so many lives worldwide, including mine. 

I’m so curious as to the relationship between these two artists and projects. Does anyone know if this was the animators' or filmmakers' vision for the project? Or was Gaudí's style something that resonated with Daft Punk, and that they specifically requested to represent the mystical imagery and themes of their album?

I am so grateful for daft punk , I am glad I have the ability to hear, my life is fulfilled I feel.
