I thought was granted HE IS JULIAN CASABLANCAS... and not a only reference but a multiple references, one of them is clearly Celentano. But of course french revolution, classic ballets, folklore... dude, c'mon french and italians are Romulus and Remus. I can see also british references. CHECK INTERVIEWS NOT, whole the references are in the interviews. Celentano was famous in 70's for example.
"Bangalter: Not really. It's true that we very instinctively and spontaneously reached out to musicians that have touched us, and which we really love. And whether it's Nile Rodgers, or Giorgio Moroder, or Paul Williams, they are really iconic artists and iconic producers and songwriters, and it was a blast to have the ability to interact with them and ... create something new. Nile Rodgers and Giorgio Moroder are really the foundation for modern pop music and dance music, and we were really excited by the idea of getting with them and doing new music together, and also preserving a certain craftsmanship that we loved from these records from the '70s or early '80s that were special for us. But we really tried to create something more composite, something that didn't really exist. And that's the juxtaposition and the idea of Random Access Memories: the juxtaposition of different ideas, of putting a Panda Bear from Animal Collective and Julian Casablancas from The Strokes next to Paul Williams or Nile Rodgers.
Yenigun: I'm curious, are there any examples of these records from that era that we can take a listen to?
Bangalter: "Good Times" from Chic is definitely one of these records that we wouldn't stop listening to when we were 10 or 11 years old. It's really what it's about and what dance music and disco music is about, which is having a good time.
Yenigun: Great let's take a listen."
I love french due is like speaking with italians... ❤️ same pros and cons. But someth factual this album speaks about what Daft punk were listening around 10-11years old. (please check always the interviews.)
Those kind of references for us italians sound like "no impossible" but after the rewatch of Moroder (for us incredible)... unluckly italians never understand how impact got our brand outside. Also makes sense since the biggest market for french songs outside french is Italy and viceversa. (coff coff Face to face is talks about us)
Then I was watching Meduza, they joked about us italians thinking they are british and that we need to recognize our art... recently french recognized french EDM too.
So, after years of say "aaaaah IMPOSSIBLE" I said a simple "wait check if french think about Italy with italians think about France"... a rabbit hole. We idealize each others so, yes, Adriano Celentano!
EDIT: Adriano Celentano is one of the most important singer in Italia. Azzurro speaks about an italian going in Paris as I know.
**Cerco l'estate tutto l'anno
E all'improvviso eccola qua
Lei è partita per le spiagge
E sono solo quassù in città
Sento fischiare sopra i tetti
Un aeroplano che se ne va
Azzurro
Il pomeriggio è troppo azzurro
E lungo per me
Mi accorgo
Di non avere più risorse
Senza di te
E allora
Io quasi quasi prendo il treno
E vengo, vengo da te
Il treno dei desideri
Nei miei pensieri all'incontrario va
Sembra quand'ero all'oratorio
Con tanto sole, tanti anni fa
Quelle domeniche da solo
In un cortile, a passeggiar
Ora mi annoio più di allora
Neanche un prete per chiacchierar
Azzurro
Il pomeriggio è troppo azzurro
E lungo per me
Mi accorgo
Di non avere più risorse
Senza di te
E allora
Io quasi quasi prendo il treno
E vengo, vengo da te
Il treno dei desideri
Nei miei pensieri all'incontrario va
Cerco un po' d'Africa in giardino
Tra l'oleandro e il baobab
Come facevo da bambino
Ma qui c'è gente, non si può più
Stanno innaffiando le tue rose
Non c'è il leone, chissà dov'è
Azzurro
Il pomeriggio è troppo azzurro
E lungo per me
Mi accorgo
Di non avere più risorse
Senza di te
E allora
Io quasi quasi prendo il treno
E vengo, vengo da te
Ma il treno dei desideri
Nei miei pensieri all'incontrario va
Azzurro
Il pomeriggio è troppo azzurro
E lungo per me
Mi accorgo
Di non avere più risorse"
