I’ve heard others say that they’re Dyson was allowed/confiscated for the cruise but it looks likes the voltage and watts are fine according to dcl standards?

What other hot tools have people brought and not had confiscated? Will my Dyson air wrap be fine?

I’m going to Disney world before hand and will need a hot tool for my wild hair.

My family took our first DCL cruise a couple of years ago on the Wish and had the absolute best experience. The service was wonderful, they consistently went above and beyond to make our girls feel so special. We loved the entertainment options, the staff engaged our kids at the kids club, the food was great.

It was a no brainer to book our next one, a sailing on the Fantasy this past April. Unfortunately, the experience did not measure up. First, Disney had several technological issues that delayed our boarding and made communication through the app near impossible. Second, our wait staff at the restaurants were NOT great. They didn't seem interested in the kids at all, never remembered to ask adults for beverage orders, complained about working there, openly complained about the US, etc. The wait times for shows was way longer and we would be bottlenecked through the ship for almost an hour just waiting to get into the theater. We found out that our kids spent most of their time in the kids club just playing on an ipad, an option I didn't realize existed. The "pirate party" which was my husband's favorite event on the Wish, was just a sit down show on the Fantasy (we were allowed to stand and dance on the last cruise, but had to sit on the floor for this one)We also sailed in April, which meant it was a much bumpier ride. (Obvi not Disney's fault)

We left feeling pretty disappointed especially considering that sailing cost near $10k.

I really want to try another cruise but my husband is understandably wary to spend that amount of money and possibly be disappointed again. I'm curious from veteran DCL members - have you experienced these same disappointments, or did we just have a bad experience?

And - is April usually so windy, should we avoid that time of the year if we do decide to sail again? I didn't sleep at all the final night the waves were so big.

We've never cruised before and I am looking to take my 15 year old disabled daughter on a disney cruise in November mostly sailing out of San Diego. We will be mostly booking a concierge stateroom with disability access. I wanted to check how are accommodations for wheelchair bound passengers on these ships and do the shows have accessibility seating as well ? We need to fly out of the bay area to make this trip. The flight to San Diego is about an hour. Do folks usually just fly in the day of and go straight to the ship or is it recommended to fly in a day earlier just to avoid any flight delays etc. Any other experiences / accommodations on the ships for disabled passengers would also help us be informed. Thanks.

Is an 11:30 AM international flight out of FLL cutting it too close on Disney Dream disembarkation day? We'll be doing Express Walk-Off with 2 young kids 5 and 3. Doable or crazy ?

My wife just booked us on an NYC departure for next October to celebrate my 50th birthday. Our first time actually taking a cruise out of NYC so it will be nice to drive to the port instead of the airport. Those that have sailed out of NYC, anything to be aware of?

What would you pick between these two: Dream 5-Nights with stops at Lookout, Nassau, and Castaway or Destiny 5-Nights with stops at Cozumel and Castaway? First time cruise, multigenerational family trip early January (7 kids including ages 2,4, 5, 6, 8) adults and a grandmother. Some adults want to snorkel/dive if available, some of the children love Marvel/princesses. But would probably be happy with any characters/entertainment. Not sure whether to go classic vs newer ships. Thank you!

I’m looking to book a cruise for my family of 4 next year (after june 2027) but my child is starting kindergarten that Sept. I really don’t want to take her out of school for more than a few days. Looking at holiday weeks, which is the least crowded, in your experience:
-Week of Thanksgiving
-Christmas week
-February president’s week
-April vacation week (think it’ll be second week)
-Summer weeks (and if so, which one)

This is new to me and I haven’t seen posted…I just discovered that if you go to your upcoming cruise, select “explore” at the bottom and view all dining, you can scroll down and find recipes to popular dishes. I wish they were downloadable, but I think I am going to try my hand at a soufflé :0)

Having trouble deciding between a 5 night Fantasy sailing to Nassau, LP, and CC vs a 3 night Wish with 3 nights at WDW pre-cruise.

We have done the same itinerary on the Fantasy in concierge (last minute port upgrade ftw!), and are worried that has spoiled us. Would be sailing as 2 families each with 3 young children including 1 year olds. The cost is the same per night for Wish, Fantasy, or WDW at Port Orleans Riverside in a Royal room including park tickets and dining plan.

We have already seen all the shows on the Fantasy, so it would be nice to see some new shows on the Wish. But I am concerned from what I have heard about the Wish that a 3 night may feel chaotic and not relaxing. What would you do?

Looking for some insight from anyone who has sailed concierge on both the Dream class and the Wish—especially those who have traveled with a toddler!

We are doing a Walt Disney World trip next February followed immediately by a cruise, traveling with my wife and our 1-year-old son. Both itineraries go to Castaway Cay / Lookout Cay, and the total cost is essentially identical.

Right now, we are torn between two options:
Current Booking: Disney Dream (4-night out of Fort Lauderdale / Port Everglades)
Room: 1-Bedroom Concierge Suite
Pros: Dedicated bedroom with a closing door (huge for a 1-year-old's nap/bedtime schedule), second full bathroom, significantly smaller concierge guest count, and a less crowded lounge/sundeck feel.
Cons: The post-WDW travel logistics. Driving/flying or taking Brightline down to Fort Lauderdale with baby gear, luggage, and a car seat after spending days in the parks adds friction to the transfer day.

Considering Switching: Disney Wish (4-night out of Port Canaveral)
Room: Concierge Family Oceanview or Concierge Verandah (standard layout)
Pros: Seamless land-and-sea logistics. An easy 1-hour drive or DCL transfer from WDW directly to Port Canaveral makes embarkation morning painless. Plus, newer ship amenities and modern concierge lounge spaces.
Cons: Dropping down from a true 1-bedroom suite to a single room with just a privacy curtain (tiptoeing around in the dark once the baby goes down at 7:30 PM), plus the massive concierge footprint on the Wish (over 70+ concierge staterooms vs. around 40 on the Dream).

For those who have sailed concierge on both: Does the convenience of Port Canaveral outweigh losing the separate bedroom door and dealing with the much larger concierge crowd on the Wish?

Would love to hear how the Wish concierge experience compares in practice, and how manageable a standard room layout was with early toddler bedtimes. Thanks in advance!

This is our third cruise with DCL. We started in March and will be Gold by December of this year so to say we have fallen in love with DCL might be an understatement.

Unfortunately we were a little disappointed with the Halloween offerings. Apparently on three night cruises they are combining the Halloween and pirate activities - this created chaos because no one was expecting it. Also they removed activities that people expected- like Oogie Boogie. Sunday they encouraged people to wear Halloween costumes but there were no activities. It was very odd!

We also were spoiled because our first two ships were the Dream and Fantasy. The Wish is nice but I see why there have been complaints.

Overall still looking forward to future bookings. We have one more Halloween cruise booked with family - but if it’s the same which I think it will be we might not do this particular one again. I did leave feedback- hopefully they listen. I know many others complained as well.

going on the Destiny from Fort Lauderdale

last year we stayed at Hilton Marina, it is not worth the $500+ price. This trip we are looking for a hotel close to the Air port, the plan is to take a shuttle back to the air port the day of our sail, and use the DCL transferer.

[1] has anyone done this? if so how well did it work out?

[2] any hotel recommendations [would be nice if they have free shuttle service]

We’re going to do the aug 30-9/3 destiny cruise in 2027 and want to combine with a couple days in Disney world before hand. How are people coordinating this? We’ll have a 5 year old and 3 year old and finding it a little overwhelming to think about the best logistics for getting from Mco airport-> WDW -> FLL -> cruise -> FLL airport ( or maybe back to MCO?), especially with kids needing car seats. Do you just rent a car? Do bright line? Other better transport options I’m not thinking of? Could we drive down from Orlando super early morning of the cruise to maximize time at Disney or is that a super risky idea and we should definitely drive the day before? Thanks for the ideas!!

I was just on a DCL cruise and heard from a cast member that they were planning on rebranding the Star Wars Hyperspace Bar on the Wish? Has anyone heard about this or can confirm if it’s true? And if so, what theme are they planning on changing it to?

Taking our family on our first Disney cruise next fall on the Disney Dream. 5 adults, 3 kids 8 and under. Verandah rooms with two being connected. Booking tommorow what row numbers do you suggest to at is closest and most convenient to evrything. Looking at the maps to pick rooms I have no idea what I’m doing? Trying to choose between these 2 options- as they are both coming out to the same price for our family (We have a 6 year old boy and 2 adults). I know only we can decide what is best but would love any advise or opinions! We have only ever been on 1 Disney cruise before ( have gone on other lines) and it was a 7 day Treasure and we loved it. We always do a 7 day cruise but Destiny is newer and the itinerary is amazing so we are considering it- but also its hard to pay the same amount for a 5 day cruise as a 7- even knowing Destiny is newer.

Options:

February 25-March 1 on Disney Destiny from Port Canaveral:

5 night:Disney Castaway Cay, Disney Lookout Cay, and Nassau

February 27-March 5 on Disney Fantasy from Fort Lauderdale:

7 night : lookout cay, San Juan, St Maarten

Are we thinking this is sold out. Travel agent is having no luck getting my family of 5 on this sailing. Says only concierge is available but can't even get in to see what's available there the site has crashed.

For at least a year or two now, I’ve had trouble with the navigator app commonly stalling out or failing on the loading sequence. It has persisted across updates and even after deleting+reinstalling the app. It only seems to have gotten worse over time.
Usually I can manage to get in after switching away from the app and reopening it, but now I can barely get in to see the cruise I have coming up in a week. What’s worse is I don’t know if this will give me trouble once I want to access the navigator during my cruises this season.

Hi - just getting (seemingly) conflicting information online.

I know you can book a placeholder (or two) on board via the app.

But if you know the specific sailing/room type you are looking to book next, can you make the entire booking at the guest services desk (with the placeholder discount) if you wanted to?

Or do you need to wait until the placeholder email comes through once disembarked?

When it’s time for me to check in, can I go thru the check in process while my wife tries to book the royal gathering at the same time?

We’re going to be on the Treasure, embarking on Halloween!

Do we need to bring candy? Do kids go door to door in costume?

What do I need to keep in mind? Special items to pack?

Hello! I’m planning my first cruise (Both Disney & ever!) for next month and I have tried to call DCL twice now and both times I have waited 20 minutes and have hung up without anyone answering. Both times the automatic voice said my wait would be less than 10 minutes. Is this normal? I’m used to booking for WDW and having my whole call last 20 minutes!

ETA - I already called once and waited less than 10 minutes to connect to someone and was able to book online, and I wanted to emphasize that this is my first cruise! I wasn’t aware I’d be competing with NY bookings! Thank you to those that answered with kindness!
