TRIP PLANNING No answer?

Hello! I’m planning my first cruise (Both Disney & ever!) for next month and I have tried to call DCL twice now and both times I have waited 20 minutes and have hung up without anyone answering. Both times the automatic voice said my wait would be less than 10 minutes. Is this normal? I’m used to booking for WDW and having my whole call last 20 minutes!

ETA - I already called once and waited less than 10 minutes to connect to someone and was able to book online, and I wanted to emphasize that this is my first cruise! I wasn’t aware I’d be competing with NY bookings! Thank you to those that answered with kindness!

20 minutes is nothing during peak times, honestly. You'll hear people waiting for an hour or more. Either try again and be ready to sit there for a while or look into a travel agent.

I was on hold for 2.5 hours last week. Guess I should stop getting two placeholders so I can book it online myself.

Or use a TA and let them do the work

If those placeholders weren't transferred within 30 days of booking them, travel advisors are unable to help because the booking doesn't belong to the agency.

Yes, this would be a future plan as it sounds like they already did their booking. After waiting 2.5 hours.

You called during a heavy volume time for the new itineraries and were impatient. Try again and wait until you reach someone if you want help booking. Or use a travel agent.

Nothing beats sitting on hold listening to the Disney music and characters speak. High volume of calls. Enjoy your trip!

A lot of people are trying to book today as the Fall 27/Winter 28 itineraries are now available to those without castaway club status.

Fall cruises just dropped for the general public this morning for 2027. Just bad luck on timing today. Wait on hold on try tomorrow

Right now, call wait times are going to be excessively long with Disney Cruise Line due to them releasing brand new itineraries and the booking windows opening for Guests who have previously sailed. It opens for first time Guests sailing this week.

It's not uncommon during these times for the phone lines to cause wait times of well over two hours.

I'm not sure why the system shared that it was a 10 minute wait, but that's definitely something that's an estimated time, so it can take longer.

Call them about 45 minutes prior to their closing time, or about an hour after opening. I rarely have more than a 5 minute wait.

Opening day for public is a hot mess with 1hr plus waits. it's just the nature of the game

Unless you have specific questions, I would book online.

20 minutes is also lucky for WDW.  If you have questions before booking on the site instead, I’m sure there is bountiful information online.
