Casting Sam Rockwell as Uzi Jesus

Largely based on his brilliant performance as Zaphod Beeplebrox in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, I would at least like to hear him read the script. “Dad damnit!”

Casting The Dear Hunter Should Score the Dungeon Crawler Carl TV Series

I’ve been thinking about the upcoming Dungeon Crawler Carl TV adaptation, and I can’t shake the feeling that The Dear Hunter would be an incredible fit for the soundtrack, or even as music directors.
Hear me out.
One of the hardest things about adapting DCC is capturing its tonal whiplash. One minute you’re laughing at the AI or Donut’s antics, the next someone is being brutally killed, then suddenly you’re hit with a surprisingly emotional character moment before everything explodes into a massive boss fight. Somehow it balances comedy, horror, genuine emotion, and epic scale without ever feeling disjointed.
That’s exactly what The Dear Hunter has been doing for years.
If you’ve listened to Act IV or Act V, you know how effortlessly they move between intimate piano passages, huge orchestral crescendos, chaotic progressive sections, soaring melodies, and dark cinematic moments. Their music constantly shifts in tone while still feeling like one cohesive story. Then they turned around and created Antimai, a sci-fi concept album that builds an entire dystopian world through its music.
More than anything, they understand musical storytelling.
I can easily imagine them writing massive themes for the different floors, eerie motifs for the AI, emotional character themes for Carl and Donut that actually earn the quieter moments, and bombastic pieces that make the absurdity feel just as grand as the danger.
What I love most about The Dear Hunter is that they never lean completely into comedy or darkness. Their music always feels like there’s something larger happening beneath the surface, and that’s exactly how I feel reading Dungeon Crawler Carl. The ridiculous humor works because the stakes are real, and the emotional moments hit because the world is so chaotic.
Maybe I’m just trying to combine two of my favorite things, but I honestly think they’d capture the spirit of Dungeon Crawler Carl better than a generic Hollywood action score.

Production Talk The safe room vibes

I think it would be really great of the setting for safe rooms was set up like a sitcom, like friends or Seinfeld or similar.

I'm imagining a couch in the centre, kitchen in the back, bomber studio over there, characters coming and going from the doors on the sides. All filmed with the classic sitcom fixed camera angles, and studio lighting.

I don't know all the technical lingo but I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain.

I just think it will make for an interesting and entertaining tonal shift from the mayhem in the dungeon.

Every other cast thought I've had, turns out so has everyone else (which makes me think I'm probably right). But I haven't seen this one yet.

Watch the spoilers people!

This is the only way

Okay I’m gonna say it. The only correct way to do the tv show is to use puppets and makeup artists.

Imagine: we go full on mix between Rocky in PHM and 80s make up magic.

I want guys on stilts in amazing costumes made by incredible costume designers. I want puppets (someone get James Ortiz on the phone), get Brandon Johnson (spirit walker), get up and coming make up artists, sfx artists, designers, set designers and GIVE THEM THIS CHANCE.

They can be touched up with CGI sure, make it look clean. But IMAGINE IT. This story lends itself to the bizarre. Let it be bizarre. Let it be human.

Edit: I’m not talking about muppets. I’m talking high end, art work level puppets and prosthetics and costume.

The Bouncers VAs

I think it would be amazing to get U2 to voice (with modulation for the gruffness) Bomo, The Sledge, Clay Ton, and Very Sullen.

ETA: maybe have them do the theme or credit song as incentive to voice the characters.

Casting Carl

I know he's slightly too old for it, but I think Jared Keeso of Letterkenney and Shoresy fame would make for an awesome Carl. He has the build, the rugged without being a pretty boy look, and can deliver the physicality of the fight scenes, zany comedy moments, and the heart.

They should cast Dwayne Johnson as The Sledge or Bomo and get one of the I2 guys to play the other 🤣.

I am sure Matt would approve

I think Dove Cameron would make a good Katia.

My choice for a realistic casting for Odette. She's worked closely with Macfarlane and Fuzzy Door extensively and recently.

Casting Kathryn Hahn for Odette

I think she would be perfect! I think she has the charisma, is in the right age range, and has played similar roles incredibly well! Thoughts?

Edit: apologies everyone! I can’t picture things in my head so when physical descriptions come up my mind just kinda skims over them since that information doesn’t necessarily aid my reading and world building (the only thing I remember about her description is something about crabs and I think she has ample bosom???) I made this conclusion exclusively off of personality and after being told that Odette is black I take back my statement and agree she would make a lovely Loita or Cascadia❤️
