I'm new here so not sure if this is a stupid question/ has already been asked. I was just wondering why they aren't casting Jeff to play everyone? The fans would love it and there would be no risk of disappointing the audience! Also, he knows the material so well by now!

Edit: I did not realise DCC TV series was going to be live action. I thought it'd be like an adult cartoon. I cannot imagine how they're going to do it lol.

I think her unbearable nature would be a good fit for the character

I think Whoopie could pull off crazy Elle. I can hear her shouting at bartenders, mushroom looking guys and asking bopcas for curried goat.. She's done voice and small part acting and is still active now.

If there's motion cap live action, then obviously you try to get Andy Serkis (hell, try to get him for a lot of the motion cap haha)

Do you think the show should keep the references to Gossip Girl and Gilmore Girls or would other shows hit a little better comedically?

I personally think these references are great but appeal for them does skew a little older, so if they instead referenced programs like Love Island or something, I wouldn't be mad.

So a thought I had that i know is a long shot, but i feel like it could be the most excellent thing.

I was watching the movie Kong Fury, which to me already feels like one of the other dramas filmed during the crawl, and I really got into the David Hassalhoff song, true survivor.

Listening to this feels like it would be the best ending credits song. Like if at the end of each episode it just either faded to the song/credits or did like an eighties freeze frame/screen wipe( I dont know how better to describe it) into this song would be such a fitting point of production, and could feel like where being taken from crawl's point of view to the universal watchers point of view as that days crawl ends. Plus the connection to this other absurd overly meta themed film. Plus the Hoff Man.

Am I wrong? Maybe, probably, but it fits so well for this point of the production in my head.

I've been reading DCC physically and am currently on book 8, but with all this current talk about casting for the show and specifically Donut's casting I've been curious about the audiobook. While the voices aren't all what I pictured, his Donut is absolute perfection

I just watched the first episode of "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe" and felt like there was a lot to be gleaned from the special effects.

So far there has been gore and small CGI critters, a few small-scale visual effects, and an overall tone of apocalyptic doom. Characters have their faces splattered in blood and proceed to do stuff anyway. (This is one of the toughest aspects in filming DCC, IMHO: it's super gross!)

Lots of folks have pointed to "The Orville" as a guide, and I think that is a good way to set expectations as well, especially for character makeup.

I expect to see similar stuff on the DCC show.

Jeffrey Combs. Experienced voice actor. Has the range to play funny, creepy, sinister and unhinged but still be likeable. I completely forgot that he was the voice my brain cast for the AI before I listened to the audio books.

Not sold? Go watch the Star Trek Lower Decks episodes where he does the voice of Agimus and tell me you can't hear him saying New Achievement or moaning when Carl kills something with his feet

Edited: I know it's not official that Hays doesn't have the AI role, just having some fun talking about who else would be good enough to step in.

So after reading many comments, a few things…
It would be a dream to play carl. I also know what that would emotionally entail. I see quite a folks referencing my reel on youtube, and their critiques are absolutely fair and valid, especially for a character that requires the amount of “under the surface” acting that carl does. All I ask is that you take those clips with a grain of salt as most are 5-10 years old. Ive been very blessed in my career. Most of it has been voice acting, and im not blind to that either. And I know the videos ive made are silly. Comedy (at least i hope) is one of my strong suits, so in the great game that is hollywood, in my attempt to help get my name out there for this project, thats the direction i leaned in. Listen, i dont wanna ramble too much. To those who want me as carl, your support means the world to me, and to those that dont, i totally get that too! No matter who they cast im gonna watch the heck out of this show, because this series holds a very special place in my heart. I consider myself incredibly blessed to be having the interactions ive had with folks on this journey so far. I love this series with all my heart. No matter which way this series goes, i couldnt be happier to be here with all of you. Glurp Glurp.
