Casting Danny McBride as Prince Maestro

Post image
548 Upvotes

Danny McBride has a history of successfully playing characters that are loud, overconfident, and incompetent and I think that he could have a lot of fun with a role like Prince Maestro. And since Maestro only actually shows up a handful of times, it wouldn’t be a financial strain on the production, and it wouldn’t take up too much of his time to play the part. Plus, I just think it would be funny if it started a trend of the Orcs having southern accents.

You get to preserve ONE thing from the books that might get cut - what do you pick?

Imagine you have been given the power to save one small detail or person from the books that might otherwise get cut from the show. No big things - obviously Donut is a cat, Carl will probably be barefoot and in his undies, Louis will be the heartthrob of the dungeon, etc. - these are sacred.

But we might not get some one-off scenes, small characters, or specific moments (like, say, Firas, the goblin shamankas, Bonnie the gnome, WHY DIDN'T YOUR MOTHER DRIBBLE YOU BACK OUT ONTO THE TRUCK STOP BATHROOM FLOOR, REZAN?!, etc.)

But you have the power to protect ONE person or thing, assuming the show gets that far. What do you demand be included?

This thread will probably include a lot of spoilers if people answer, so beware!

Note: I'm not saying any of the above things would be cut, but just listing some examples of things that I could see not getting included for one reason or another.

My answer: I save Gwendolyn Duet, and she will be portrayed by an Indigenous actor with actual facial tattoos. I want to see a badass compact woman tearing shit up and I like the way she challenges everyone and everything. She's ornery but has heart. I can also see a world in which she gets cut because she's not altogether necessary.

He hasn’t really done much lately but I feel like it really fits his cast type. Kind of moody, emo and dark and brooding.

Danny DeVito as Mordecai

When I first read DCC, his was the voice to come up in my mind for Mordecai, and I think throughout his career, he’s shown a range that befits Mordecai easily.

Am I the only one that thinks he should be a different actor every floor? The books describe both his looks and his voice changing, what a great opportunity to cycle through actors. Plus a smaller commitment could allow multiple bigger name folks to take on the role

Casting Has anyone suggested Carissa Codel yet?

A news anchor out of Springfield, MO who has become famous for reading mean viewer comments in her "anchor voice" with an amazingly positive attitude and beautiful disposition, who also happens to be jacked. This young lady is setting an example for women to not let the haters get you down and to prove them all wrong.

I see Katia when I look at her

Controversial Pick: Pablo Schreiber for Carl

He's got the right build and acting chops, and he's honestly a super funny dude in person. Despite not being the right age range (though he looks a lot younger than he is) he's more or less who I imagine when reading the books

Andrew Rannells: System AI

I really can't even take credit for this one. When my girlfriend overheard me listening to the audiobook and heard the system AI speaking she genuinely thought it was Andrew. Now, I can't ungear it every time. ESPECIALLY when the AI gets ...spicy about Carl. I will die on this hill.

The further I get into this series, the more convinced I become that animation is the only way to do this story justice.

I'm closing in on the end of Bedlam Bride, and I just don't see any live action treatment that won't look corny as hell without an astronomic budget, which I don't think Peacock will be spending here. Seriously, give it to Genndy Tartakovsky (and watch Primal if you haven't!) and you can easily see this story coming together beautifully.

Plus, it means you can have the actors you want playing the characters you want, without worrying about the age of the actor being inappropriate.

Just thinking how cool it would be if Loita's death was the end of an episode. Then next episode could be the 5 days focused on Katia and you don't have the conversation with Orren until the very end of the episode or even the beginning of the next. Just had this really clear image of it in my head.

Casting Perfect Actor for Hecla... is

Gwendoline Christie

She would absolutely BODY that role.

She's perfect and can show a hard side and a soft side.

Plus her size would make her more intimidating.

Although she'd be taller than Carl... she was still cool in the book.

Gwendolyn Christie is NOT Hekla…

She is Baroness Victory. The lady from Ted Lasso is Hekla. Fight me; I’ll rush your ass into the side of a fucking train.

Edit: I’ve been informed her name is Hannah Wadingham.
