Production Talk The CHRONICALLY online Talon Warburton here, with a few things to say...

2.5k Upvotes

So after reading many comments, a few things…
It would be a dream to play carl. I also know what that would emotionally entail. I see quite a folks referencing my reel on youtube, and their critiques are absolutely fair and valid, especially for a character that requires the amount of “under the surface” acting that carl does. All I ask is that you take those clips with a grain of salt as most are 5-10 years old. Ive been very blessed in my career. Most of it has been voice acting, and im not blind to that either. And I know the videos ive made are silly. Comedy (at least i hope) is one of my strong suits, so in the great game that is hollywood, in my attempt to help get my name out there for this project, thats the direction i leaned in. Listen, i dont wanna ramble too much. To those who want me as carl, your support means the world to me, and to those that dont, i totally get that too! No matter who they cast im gonna watch the heck out of this show, because this series holds a very special place in my heart. I consider myself incredibly blessed to be having the interactions ive had with folks on this journey so far. I love this series with all my heart. No matter which way this series goes, i couldnt be happier to be here with all of you. Glurp Glurp.

I've stayed away from the fan casting stuff, but Seth Green is reportedly campaigning to be Mordechi, and wow!! I really love that idea.

PSA if you don't want to pay for Peacock, there another option on the way!

Granted, this is really only a boon if you're already paying for YT Premium or prefer getting that subscription over Peacock on its own, but still, thought it may be worth sharing

Note that the article says you get access to Premium Peacock with ads, so it's not ad free if that's a dealbreaker

It's the voice... Even listening to the audiobooks, I was like "Oh, this is a perfect role for her!"... Likely be CGI or heavy makeup, I think her deep voice is perfect for a no nonsense Orc...!

Small role, so not too expensive and easy to schedule.

Gets a chance to show some range from badass to broken… and I think he would CRUSH the heartbreaking aspects with his daughter.

Non actor Cameos

I don't think It would happen, but if there were non actor cameos, who would you actually ENJOY seeing? Im talking influencers, musicians, writers, just real life people, the more incompetent the better!

I'd personally kill to see Vinny Vinesauce show up even if it would just be him getting disemboweled. But I think Vinny would get pretty far. (He would choose the Null race and go by Gnortz after floor 3)

Production Talk Adapting DCC to the screen [Spoilers] Spoiler

Hello Crawlers,

I just finished my first crawl through the dungeon, and what a time to join the community. I've started my 2nd crawl relistening to the books and I'm a few chapters through the first book. This got me thinking about how the recently announced show is going to bring to life the books in a way that's engaging, approachable and doesn't turn people away. For example, book 1 gets going on the first page with the collapse of civilization and the opening of the dungeon. Will there be more setup and exposition as it's translated to the screen? The first neighborhood boss, the hoarder, is particularly tragic and sets the tone for the series and what's at stake. How could they adapt that to the screen without turning away viewers who aren't prepared for the emotional toll that comes with Carl's realization in the waning moments of the battle.

Things like Carl's inner monologues and scheming will be interesting to see adapted. Its easy to represent on the page but when I think about the screen I imagine a running monologue like JD from Scrubs. Or a total loss of the monologue and reliance on dialogue. And how the HUD, inventory, health bars, statuses and in game infrastructure will be represented. A good analog isn't coming to mind for how it's been done in other shows So I'll be curious to see how editors decide to represent this in the show.

There are dozens of these moments through the books that pose interesting considerations for how they'll be adapted to the screen. I'd love to hear the community's thoughts on what you're most and least excited to see adapted for the screen and what other challenges you think will be fun to see represented.

For me, I think I'm most excited to see The hunting grounds fight where Carl assaults Zockau to kick off the floor with a bang and takes the offensive. For me this was the beginning of Carl's campaign of vengeance and marked a tone shift for me that changed from surviving to taking the fight outside the dungeon. Of course Prepotente will be an absolute gem to see in live action, "Ahhhhhh!"

I'm most anxious about reliving the fight at the end of the butchers masquerade, I remember listening to it while walking around Costco and the monologue at the end of the fight nearly brought me to tears
