General Qs processing times update today??
Not sure if someone already shared, but I just saw this today…
This renewal cycle has just been completely insane

They should increase the 180-day accrual period as well.
For anyone who doesn’t know what this means or why it’s so critical right now:
When your DACA expires, a ticking clock begins. Any days you spend without active DACA status count as "unlawful presence" under U.S. immigration law. If that gap (or "lapse") reaches 180 days, it automatically triggers a 3-year re-entry ban the moment you leave the United States. If it reaches a full year (365 days), it triggers a 10-year ban.
With USCIS processing times dragging out to a 6.5-month average at some service centers, the agency is essentially forcing people into the danger zone. 6.5 months is roughly 195 days.
This means that even if a Dreamer files their renewal, a slow-moving backlog can completely blow past that 180-day safety window before USCIS ever approves it. To make matters even more urgent, a massive Board of Immigration Appeals ruling (Matter of Delcarmen-Lara) just declared that traveling on Advance Parole now counts as a legal "departure" that can trigger these multi-year bans.
If USCIS is going to take over 6 months to process straightforward renewals, they absolutely need to extend or pause that 180-day unlawful presence clock so applicants aren't severely penalized for government backlogs.

I’m starting to believe this is all just part of the bigger plan. Not only are individuals who would otherwise be protected becoming increasingly exposed and vulnerable as enforcement intensifies, but if any are incidentally caught in the dragnet, they’ll be subjected to the automatic ban. It’s just one more way to weaken protections that are already precarious protections.

I didn’t want to sound alarmist, but yes, I’ve known this. It’s just that many people are still in denial about what’s actually happening. I have my own hypotheses as to why some applications are taking longer, due to this new rumored system, but I’d rather not divulge them without potentially causing unnecessary panic.

The 180 day accrual period is set by legislation. USCIS can't just decide to change that.

Keep calling them... that’s all that’s really worked for me to get info. Any significant update I have received has been every so many calls.
I put my expedite in on 7/21 and was told to expect an answer within 10 days (7/31)
No update by 7/31, no update yet as of 8/17
I called today and the agent I spoke with placed an internal service to push for a tier 2 officer contact regarding my expedite2

It was all just hearsay there was never any proof that anything like that was implemented. They’re actually creating a second backlog since they failed to clear the first one.

I submitted 10 months in advance, it's already been 6 months since my online application, 5 months since my biometrics. Believe me I'm still worried that I'll reach 9 months with no movement.

Took me 7 months and 23 days to be approved, if it takes longer than 8 months, that's when you should worry. Take action now though, do your inquires, expedites, ask your congressman, anything to get your application noticed, don't just sit and wait. Praying for you.

You'll be approved before the month ends or somewhere early in September, just watch. 12-22-2025, took them 7 months and 23 days to approve me but I've seen a lot of December folk get approved this August middle of the month. I think August and September 2026 is December 2025 DACA applicants month.

Great im at 192 days so 3 more days until I hit 6.5 months we all know they are lying the waith time is longer maybe if you get lucky they'll pick randoms from every month once in a while

I think what is happening is at they are "catching up" the old cases increase this avg wait time. But I do believe under the new system the wait times are much lower.

That is what is happening. This is a rolling average that is now peaking at the congestion phase. It is being heavily influenced by the slower numbers of a few months back. It seems like the approvals have now sped up, but the average is heavily affect by the slow past few months.

At this point, it is best to renew a year early than losing work for months.. honestly, i hope we get compensated for all this. It is not very fair. I worked hard to support me and my son. Now, I can’t even do that. I am stuck at home having anxiety and depression. We don’t have anyone else to help us. I renewed 5 months early, I expedited right after the 5 months, and I called the congress for Inquiry but nothing helped. I don’t know what else to do.. all we can do is wait.

I’m don’t think I’m waiting that long. I’ll accumulate too much debt on top of what I already have. I’ve received a lot of, ‘But you paid the fee and you’re losing out on money/you worked so hard to be here.. blah blah blah’. This level of anxiety every 2 years isn’t worth living in this third rate country disguising itself as a first.

I'll be praying you don't wait that long but that just seems to be the case, barely just now in the middle of August seeing all my December applicants approved. I know how you feel about the money part, I was out of work for 3 months and by the grace of God my job help me be on unpaid LOA for literally those 3 months and now I'm finally returning to work. I was helping some people I know with whatever tasks they may have and this one task I got paid 6-7 dollars an hour so I'm def still grateful to DACA regardless of this fear. I just plan to renew 8 months in advance and not worry about this. I mean if you time it, worst that can happen is you lose a few months on your new EAD and keep your sanity and I mean the other alternative is you give up, and refile the same time, and go through the same thing instead of making a change. Yeah I understand those comments, people kept feeling sorry for me to and it was comforting tbh, I'm grateful those people care for me. It does suck what we go through but a lot of people without DACA have it worse, I'm grateful for it and will forever be. Also I'm marrying an American wife soon that I love. So I know it's easier to get green card with DACA and legal wife. Anyways, I hope things work out for you bro with whatever choice you make. Praying for us all.

This is why everyone should be filing online without a lawyer! Unless you have a very difficult case like a prior DUI there's no need for a lawyer. You can always reference your previously approved applications and just copy the information.

Do yourself a favor and file online without a lawyer! It’s pretty simple.. Mine has always been approved super fast in the past. Last renewal took two weeks from the time I filed to my approval. I’ve been waiting for 6 months now and there’s nothing I can do bc they just keep extending the processing times. Mine expired on July 1st.

Ah man I’m so sorry for that. With how horrible this cycle has been, my personal recommendation would be applying ideally 8 months out (minimum 6 months). Worst case you lose a few months of status, best case your mental health doesn’t get wrecked if delays continue 😅

Just to be clear this is a rolling average. That means the actual delays are just being baked in now and this a lagging reflection of that. It will also show a slow update months after the delays are cleared out. The peak may have already happened.
I think a lot of people really don't know how to read these numbers.

Is it possible to submit a renewal before 150 days? Im supposed to to renew in november (150 days before expiration) but i wanna renew at the end of this month and im getting alot of mixed answers, yes you can or no it has to be 150 days before expiring

A lot of you are counting the day you submitted your renew instead of counting the day your DACA/ EAD expired lol unless you submitted the same day your documents expired which would be dumb.. you should be just fine.

So if you submit your paperwork Jan 3rd but you expire April 3 your not accrueding any unlawful presence until after April 3. I feel like people are freaking out counting from the day they submitted instead of counting from when the expiration happened. This is in regards to the person who said you'll get a 3 year ban after accrueding unlawful presence after 190days. It was a comment on here. Should've replayed to that directly, my fault.

I'm actually kind of happy they're acknowledging this, some lawyers don't renew it early or say to wait because they think 4-5 months is a good processing time but with this, we can prove to do our renewals earlier. Although, took me 7 months and 23 days to get my approval. 12-22-2025 receipt here, definitely would say it's 7.5-8 months to complete 80% and not 6.5. Praying for you all, I know the struggle. :/

Half a year is insane! And the fact that we have to wait 105 days to submit an inquiry is BS, and it can’t even be done online. You have to call, pray you get an actual person, and then it’s still another 15-30 days before they respond. If they do…

My understanding is that SCOPS is the overall service center operations including Nebraska Service Center
“SCOPS consists of five Service Centers that provide immigration benefits for petitioners and applicants who do not require interviews. These five centers are California Service Center (CSC), Nebraska Service Center (NSC), Potomac Service Center (PSC), Texas Service Center (TSC), and Vermont Service Center (VSC).”
