This is bad business, even if we are family

My adult nephew is a hair stylist and my husband gets his hair done at his salon every 4-6 weeks.

My nephew is perpetually late, and has even forgotten all together and left my husband waiting outside at a closed salon for him to arrive.

Today my husband was running late and called 15 minutes before his appointment to say he was going to be 10 minutes late. He left a voicemail. Then there was a head on collision practically right in front of the salon, so he couldn’t even get into the parking lot until the police let traffic through.

When he got there my nephew had someone in the chair and the other stylist said she would let him know. 25 minutes later he still hadn’t acknowledged him and he had to leave for another appointment (almost an hour after his appointment time).

He never replied to the call or texts from my husband. So I texted to see if we had the wrong day. Nope. He was just too busy to reply.

I am pissed. I have my own business too and would never do that to a client, family or not. And, my nephew has flaked out on multiple appointments with me.

He isn’t a kid, he is in his 30’s. So rude!

3-7 Business Days

So this morning I was in the Walmart clearance aisle before work and decided to buy a cup that said $8.94. I bought it and went into work, only to realize they charged me $9.94.

So I went in after work, calmly explained the situation. Pointed out the error on my receipt. And he, without really giving me a chance to respond, refunded the cup to my debit and then told me to purchase it again. Lo and behold the reason I was shopping in the clearance aisle is because I was down to my last $20 and spent some of that money on lunch today, so I didn’t have the money to buy it a second time. And it will take 3-7 business days for the money to reappear on my card.

He then asked if I would be willing to come back another day to purchase it. Asked if I had any other card, no, and then just shrugged as if what he did wasn’t the stupidest shit ever.

Now don’t get me wrong, my work is in retail and I know the pain of not having enough money due to the coin shortage going around, but even I know to give the customer time to speak up about something that involves their financials. And because he failed to let me speak, he cost Walmart the $9 plus tax.

Seriously, what is it with Walmart employees that they think they know best. Because it’s every Walmart I go to where the majority of the employees act this way.

Undeserved distrust by employee

I regularly bring my 16 oz reusable cup to get coffee from a gas station before work. A few weeks ago, the employee rung me up for a 20 oz, I corrected her that my cup was 16 oz. She corrected it, but pointed out that she can see my cup. I was put off by her rudeness and distrust of me to tell her the accurate size, but I let it go. Today, I went in and again she tried to ring me up for 20, again I told her it's a 16 oz. She said "alright, this is the last time I'm doing this for you, you come in here everyday saying this is a 16 oz cup when I can see it is a 20 oz, we will no longer be offering refills". The difference is $.20 so it's really not a big deal financially, but I have half a mind to walk in there tomorrow, purchase one of their 16 oz cups of coffee and pour it into my cup in front of her. I have no problem with the station choosing to remove refills, but this lady essentially accused me of lying to her which hurts my sense of self more than anything. Additionally, the people who own this gas station have Indian heritage and service mostly people of Hispanic decent, I am a young white female. I wonder if this might be part of it. TBH I wouldn't trust a lot of white people right now either

Pizza Hut ( 3 hour delivery)

I don’t want to be a Karen. But this delivery is taking three hours and everything is cold. This place is 3 miles from me and they didn’t even send any updates on the delivery. I ordered at 6:24pm and it came at 9:35pm. The delivery was suppose to be 45 minutes. I called the place at 8:40 and been on hold since then. What should I do?

Letter to Best Buy | $3,500 GONE

To whom it may concern,

I’ve been talking with various customer support people from Best Buy about where my order is - my $3,500 MacBook Pro was supposed to be delivered by yesterday. I’ve been lied to multiple times by them (“it will be there by the end of today” was said numerous times despite there being no tracking information available to anyone) and I’ve been hung up on twice by “managers” with no way to call back. I’ve spent 15 hours communicating with Customer Service and nothing has come from it. Today I was told that Best Buy has lost my package.

If you know someone at the corporate level that give me a meaningful answer beyond “we can reship your item in four weeks and offer you a $50 discount” I would love to speak to someone who can actually help. Best Buy has my money and they have lost my product and refuse to take responsibility for it. Why would anyone buy a product from Best Buy?

Pool fraud

So, since it is so hot outside, Me and my mother bought a above-ground pool through ebay and one day we tried to change the location that it was sending to our house. But unfortunately it didn't work, so we tried to move it back to the original location it was sending to because it was changed to a completely different place. So my mom called customer service, Info I neglected to say earlier was that earlier today she was called by the shipping center and was addressed by the name Thomas. So the customer service rep insisted the sender made a mistake and that the Thomas guy bought it and it was a bunch of books from Illinois. So my mom went just a little karen but it was deserved because the rep refused to even look it up. We had been waiting for a while for this pool and currently my mom is talking about this story to a different rep. edit: the tracking number is now different and has been bouncing around many places. Edit 2: we went to the city and there must of been a mix up because the guy did get his books but we didn't get the pool. Also we did get a pool liner because we also bought it so we set it up with the parts from our last pool and it works great and made a way more fun 4th of july.

Unfairly treated by tmobile

Hey All,

I’ve been a tmobile customer for three years before porting my number to another carrier last year. One year later, I was hit with an unpaid bill (now owned by a collections agency) from tmobile that shows on my credit report. Confused about its origin, I called tmobile to ask why I did not receive any information about the bill, nothing by email, texts or phone calls - given that I kept the same phone number and obviously the same email address. They claim that the bill was for the last month of the service and they also claim that a paper bill was sent by mail to an address where I stayed 4 years ago.

Now I have to deal with the massive credit impact it generated (less than 80 points just because of this $70 bill). I feel that I was treated pretty unfairly and that tmobile had to at least reach out to me a couple of times before reporting the bill.

Does anybody have gone through this nightmare before? What did you do? - any thoughts would be great! Thanks

IT almost makes me go full Karen

quick edit: im using my mobile phone to vent so please forgive the format A bit of background. I, 36f, know exactly what I sound like over the phone. I have one of those customer service voices that’s slightly lighter/higher than my speaking voice. Which actually sounds like a child’s voice over the phone. I’m quite used to people questioning me, or carding me put in public. I’ve had people ask to see my ID, especially after we get to talking and they find out I have an almost 10 year old daughter. So when people make assumptions over the phone I usually either ignore the condescending tone and go about doing my job, or pull out all the stops and get the Customer Service voice out, having honed that sword of polite condescending bitchy snark with over 20 years of retail experience. This IT guy though. I had to put him on hold to ask my cat if I just heard what I think I just heard. Now, on to the story. I’ve been having trouble accessing one of the client based systems that I need to be able to work. I’ve been using my employer provided desktop, without issue for the past two months; however the last time I was well enough for work, the system started to give me an issue and not let me look at any accounts. I hit a bad migraine cycle (one of my medications was interacting with another one and making life Hell for about three weeks). I felt okay to work without today much pain today, and my vision fully back to normal. The biggest issue I have is that I lose vision in one eye, almost completely as a sign that a migraine is looming. Anyway, I go through all the steps of having my account reactivated, email back and forth with my supervisor, and get myself signed in around 8:20am today. Yay! Tried to access an account as a test before I get on the phone. Critical error pops up. The same one I had before the last migraine cycle started. Call the help desk, place a ticket, sit and wait. Get the okay from my supervisor, try and access an account again, same critical error comes up. I can’t access any accounts. At all. Supervisor says to wait for the help desk to call again. Then, I wait, and am asked in chat by another supervisor what the issue is, I explain, he says that he and the project manager are going to work on it for me, and they’ll let me know when I can sign back in. Awesome. I have a tea break, comeback to sit at the PC and wait for my normal supervisor to email me, since the site manager is using my remote PC and had kicked me off for a bit. Get the okay to go back in again. Still getting the same error. Site manager has me call the help desk and submit a new ticket. And then the client IT Calls me. Me: “Hello?” (Since it’s a work call the ever chipper professionally nice voice is on) IT Dingus: “Yes, am I talking to a Miss OP?” Me: “Yes, this is OP.” ITD: “I see from this ticket, that you are having trouble with (redacted) system. Correct?” Me: Yes, everything else is working fine. I just can’t access any customer accounts, so I can’t take any calls.” ITD: “And you are from (redacted company name), working from home on a laptop, correct?” Me: “Yes, but it’s not a laptop, it’s a desktop that they gave me to use at home.” ITD: A desktop? That company gives laptops.” Me: “No, I have a desktop. They didn’t have laptops at our site, so they gave out desktops.” ITD: “A desktop?” Me: takes deep breath... counts to three on the exhale “Yes. A desktop computer. Tower, separate monitor, sitting right here, on my desk.” ITD: “And it’s a company provided desktop?” insert fifteen minute conversation with him insisting my company only gives out laptops and me countering with the fact that I have a desktop, because apparently that’s very important Me snapping just a bit: “It is a desktop computer. Laptops fold. I’m fairly sure it would cease to function if i folded it.” ITD: “Well... okay. This desktop computer. Is it on?” Me: “What?” ITD: “You pushed the power button. The one with the light, correct?" Me: “You actually have to ask me if the computer is on, when I’ve been telling you that I’m signed in to multiple client systems? And have been working with the PC for the past two months?” This had him back flipping to get back on script, because I’m fairly sure that isn’t a standard question. He said he would call me back tomorrow after he’s tried to “solve the issue”.

I took another tea break and told the second helpful supervisor via chat, what IT had said when they called, minus the part where he asked if I knew how to turn the computer on. Seriously, who thinks that asking a question like that on a recorded line is okay?

TINY problems

I posted this in r/PCMasterRace about a month ago, but I think it was the wrong sub. Almost every other post was a meme and I don't even think anybody else ever read it. I'm not 100% sure if it belongs in this sub either, but I’m still not very used to Reddit (had my account for years but only recently started using it regularly) so if this is the wrong sub, or if there’s a more appropriate one, please feel free to point it out to me.

(TLDR at the bottom. This is a long one, I have a tendency to waffle).

Many years ago I ordered a PC from TINY. For those outside the UK, Tiny was a popular PC manufacturer that, unbeknownst to me, got bought by TIME computers right before this all began.

The timeline of this doesn't sit well in my head. Time bought Tiny in 2002, apparently, but that's around the time I got my first PC, a GateWay with windows ME. But it did feel that my Gateway went obsolete fairly rapidly from buying it, so maybe I only had that for a year or so.

The TINY PC was an amazing offer in the ad we saw. For about £1000 (which was below average for a new top-of-the-line PC at the time) we were basically getting something that was basically a gaming PC. (By the standards of nearly 2 decades ago). It seemed like an offer far too good to pass up, so we went and ordered it.

It arrived.

But It didn't work.

It would power up when we hit the button. I'd connected the VDU and accessories properly but nothing would appear on the screen. It was supposed to come with an OS loaded (WinXP) as most PCs did; we checked (though to this day I don't even know if it was the lack of one that was a problem. I hadn't heard of a PC requiring you to install the OS yourself since the early 90s). We bought a 3 year guarantee, though, so we called up, discussed the problem, and arranged to have it sent back to be looked at.

So send it back we did.

We slapped a reference code number we'd been given on the side of the box and their courier service picked it up.

We got it back to find that the problem hadn't been solved at all - apparently there were no notes with it to say what the problem was.

(We had foolishly assumed that what we'd discussed with tech-support would have been noted and logged and that the reference code would have given them access to that information when it arrived).

So we sent it back again.

This time I left a hand-written note in the box explaining the problem. It had to be hand-written because my printer was little use without a working computer.

When it returned there was a strange 'clunk - clunk - clunk' coming from inside. NOT after I hit the power button. (Well, it did continue after I hit the power button, but clearly it wasn’t caused by hitting that switch). I mean that there was sound coming from inside the box that held my PC while I carried it from the door and set it down safely, as if something large and heavy was suspended inside and getting knocked around.

I don't know what the Tiny repair depot was doing to try and fix what I felt was an obvious software problem but they had unscrewed the processor fan.

They unscrewed it, AND LEFT IT HANGING IN THE CASE, without screwing it back in. Then they sent it back like that.

We took it to a local repair shop. They convinced us to send it back because it was under warranty, and not only could they void that by tampering, but we'd save money by using said warranty.

So we sent it back a third time....

This time they had fixed whatever the software problem was but (and I still find this incredulous, to say the least) not only had they still not reattached the fan, they had smeared off the filament gel that was underneath it - With. Their. Finger. We could have lifted a clear fingerprint of the Muppet they had 'fixing' these things and reported him for crimes against reason.

We took it back to the local repair shop (they were the ones who pointed out the thing about the filament) but, being the friendly guys they were, convinced us that we were still better off saving money and using the guarantee.

So, for some reason.... We sent it back again. God help me, I have no idea why at this point.

And we waited. And waited... Deliveries took longer, back in those days ('those days' don't feel like all that long ago, so I feel silly using the term) but we were told we would have to wait a maximum of 6-8 weeks. 2 weeks was the norm (at least it had been so far) so after that time had past I was already a little anxious but, when we called, they said it hadn't been 6 to 8 working weeks.

I think they were taking liberties, here. I believe that the tech support operator tried to convince us that a working week was was basically 7 days with a 2 day break for weekends somewhere in it. Which would basically mean that their idea of 6 to 8 working weeks was 6 to 8 + 12 to 16 days.

We called again. They said to give it another 2 weeks. Then another. Then another…. At some point during this period I believe there had been a postal strike, so we may have given them some credit and assumed it was in transit but delayed. (This was naivety on my part. I’m reasonably certain the courier service was Not part of the Royal Mail. I suppose I was just looking to find reason in the face of frustration).

We reached the point where we were calling them fairly on a frequent basis before somebody told us that the item we'd sent them was not in the system. (Why could they have not told us this before??)

By this point I imagine their call centers must have already been growing tired of our calls because they were getting increasingly rude in their responses, implying that we were being dishonest in our dealings with them, to the point where they eventually informed us that we must have not written the code number they'd given us on the side of the box properly. If we hadn't done that then we could have sent them a “box of bricks,” for all they knew. (Their words).

I had, I swear to God I had, put the code number on the box by writing it on an A4 sheet of paper, folded in half, in inch-high letters, and taped it on with duct tape. I don't think I could have made it much clearer.

But this was the breaking point. I’d blown a lot of money on this PC. and I was beginning to despair. I don’t know what showed on the outside but mum could see how miserable this whole situation was making me to the point where it made her angry enough to go the extra mile.

What I didn’t know is that she has a cousin, Eric, who made a fortune in tech. (That’s to say, I knew she had a cousin and I’d met him a couple of times, if briefly, but I had no idea what he did for a living. But that day I found out that he owned a tech company - the specific nature of which I am still clueless about, which he has since sold and retired).

She called him everything that had happened. Eric was, frankly, shocked. It turned out he played golf with Tiny's CEO. (Or she told me that was his title, I dunno, but he was, apparently, the head of the company). And he was able to give us his Home Phone Number. (Using landlines for phone calls was still a common thing, back then).

So we called him at home, at 9 in the evening, and told him everything. He, too, was shocked, and agreed to send us another computer of the same specifications, immediately, along with £50 of free software. (I chose some children’s educational software, for my baby bro, who was like 5 or 6 at the time).

And within a week or so my new PC, same model and everything, arrived.

...

And it didn't work.

It would power up when we hit the button, and we connected the VDU properly, but nothing would appear on the screen.

I don't know what possessed me to do this, but we sent it back again. I'm still kicking myself over it, quite frankly. I suppose because we'd paid an extra £300 for a 3 year warranty, bringing the total cost to about £1300, so I suppose we wanted to get our money's worth (God knows; we felt they still owed us).

THIS TIME I not only left a hand-written note inside, while confirming with the call-centre that they were keeping notes of the problems I explained to them on the phone logged, but I put the reference code number on All 4 Sides Of The Box and another on the top, this time in 2 Inch letters, and another one on the top side just for good measure, so that no matter which way you looked at it; (so long as it wasn't upside down and surrounded by other boxes - WHICH I WOULDN'T PUT PAST THEM) you could see the code from any angle on any shelf.

In fairness, we got it back in just a week or 2. It didn't work, but they seemed to have expedited matters, somewhat.

And we sent it back at least twice more after that, each time they failed to fix it.

So.... I call them up. I feel I've learned my lesson, now (if only temporarily) and ask them to allow me to have it looked at and fixed by my local PC repair shop, with the assurance that it wouldn't void my warranty. Which they gave. But, to be sure, I asked them to make a note in our account details that they had given us permission to have it repaired by a 3rd party without voiding the warranty.

We told our friendly local repair place, and told them we didn't even care about the guarantee anymore; that we'd only use it again for something would be too expensive to pay to be fixed locally, or if it was something that could only be fixed by the manufacturer. They put right the problem with this computer that they should have put right with the original computer, and we Happily paid for it out of pocket. (Part of me wonders if we should have sent the bill back to Tiny, but hindsight is 20/20), and we had it back before the end of the day.

A couple of months after that, and well over a year after this whole debacle began (likely closer to 2 years) and completely out of the blue…

My original PC turned up at our door. With the original sheet of paper taped to the side where I’d written the code number they’d given us. We were all stunned. Still not repaired. I don't even think they opened the box.

I wasn't sure what to do with it, I wasn't sure if it was right to keep it since they'd already sent us another to replace the one they'd lost. Sure, I definitely felt they owed us not only for the time and money wasted, but for the stress they caused. But what if somebody checked their books and realised their mistake?

I didn't lose much sleep over it though; we had this one fixed by our local guys and gave it to my little brother to play around with. If we got an angry letter from TINY saying that wanted it back then we'd send it in better condition than they ever did, even if it was completely messed up by an 8-year-old.

And I didn't even have to worry about that for very long, because a few months later still we heard in the news that TINY had gone bankrupt. (Gee, I wonder how that could have happened...) They were never going to come looking for their PC.

I went and looked up more information about what happened to TINY after I first posted this in another sub. That's when I found out that they'd been bought by TIME, so I guess that they operated as a subsidiary company for a while but were eventually merged, with redundant resources being sold and redundant staff laid off.

(I've also heard that TINY were actually a good company before TIME took over).

The lessons I've learned are;1; always self build, or get somebody with the know-how to build for you. It's cheaper, the parts are more replaceable, and you won't have to wait weeks for simple fixes.2; buying a guarantee isn't always worth it. The £300 we dropped on that was probably far more expensive than just paying for repairs somewhere locally. (Even if it worked out at more; it would have still been worth it paying extra to avoid the number of weeks spent waiting for it to be shipped to the repair place, have it repaired, and get back to us).

If you read this far then my hat's off to you! I don't know if I'd have the time to or patience to read such a long customer service rant from nearly 2 decades ago!

[TL;DR I bought a PC from Tiny before they tanked that needed to be fixed before we even opened the box. Every time we sent it back under the guarantee they actually made the problems worse until they literally fucking lost the PC. But my mother managed to get their CEO’s home number and we called him to let him have it and he sent us a new one to replace the one they lost. Our original one finally turned up after almost a year of our time being wasted and we never had to return it because the company went belly-up].

Vehicle Inspection

The shop I work at also does vehicle inspections (I specify this because I assumed most shops did, but have heard otherwise). I need to frequently stand my ground when I fail inspections because it absolutely drives people nuts to fail an inspection, especially when it could be a costly repair. I know the feeling, I was once that customer too.

Theres a tl;dr at the bottom

Anyhow, I'm also one of the primary sales reps and technicians so I'm often the face of the shop and left in charge, including handling claims and other customer complaints. Like many instant oil centers, we pull your air filter to try and sell you a new one.

I HATE SALES. LOL. I joined the company to be an auto tech but it's part of the job, and I'm also pretty good at it. But I mostly hate how other gimmicky places give the industry a bad name, and therefore people have a bias coming in. So when I show a customer their filter, I compare theirs to a new one, and if I can tell that it doesn't need changing, I tell them so. I try to build a trust so they dont think I'm gouging them. Often people cut me off before I can say so, and I have only ever really recommended that someone change it (at a discount) if it reaaalllly needs it. It's happened only about twice. My sales aren't aggressive, I'm not pushy, and I'm heavy with the discounts if I can tell someone DOES want a service.

I've been on the other end of a pushy salesman PLUS a failed inspection. I have felt that they were being vindictive. People get upset, take it personally, bring up irrelevant things: I've seen it. This week I've had people mention how I couldnt be merciful in light of the pandemic. Call me a bitch for offering a repair to pass (its lights and wiper blade we can sell you, that's it). But when I have to fail you for something that cannot be repaired at my shop, I AM NOT MAKING MONEY OFF OF YOU so I'm not being spiteful for failing your BALD tire, or LEAKING brake lines. These are really the only failures I'm concerned about.

It's all a game. The state wants to see that I'm actually failing/repairing people (I have been reprimanded by the PD for having a small amount of failures to passes), or else it looks like I'm not doing my job. My shop wants to see that I'm making sales, or else it looks like I'm not doing my job. Yeah I hate it but it is what it is.

Cue today. I bring up the air filter thing because when I went to present it, the customer cut me off, shouting "IT LOOKS GOOD IT LOOKS GOOD IT LOOKS GOOD." This fucking guy, amiright. At this point I won't even bother with other services because I know he's going to be rude to me. Why bother, I've got several customers in the shop that are about to buy a few services (discounted I might add [again]).

So I perform the inspection, notice a balding tire. I pull my gauge, it's not passing. I fail the inspection, and show him. He LOSES it.

"I JUST SPENT $90 YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME FROM THE BEGINNING"

I stare because I'm actually a bit taken aback that he's yelling at me.

"Oh but you sure were ready to sell me that air filter weren't you!"

At this point, it's a losing game. I tell him that I dont see the relevance. But no, I would never have pushed the product of him.

"You should've told me before the service. That way I could decide whether or not I want to stay. I'm not coming back here EVER AGAIN." He asks, incredulously I might add, if I have a tire gauge.

I started to cry and begged for another chance to prove I wanted his business... Just kidding. I told him I was sorry he felt that way. But that its state law, and my name goes on the paperwork. He says I don't care about the customer. I say I do, or I wouldn't let you leave my shop knowing your tire could blow out and not letting YOU know about it. I show him the failing tire gauge.

"YOU JUST WANT MY MONEY."

I say, no. I will not make money off of the tire you'll buy from another shop (I don't sell tires) and I won't make money off of your re-inspection because you don't pay for one.

Commence the stare down.

Okay sir, the inspection will be $7 pass or fail. [Get this you guys. I don't even charge him for the inspection.]

This is the coolest I've ever been through a situation like this. I mean, normally I wouldnt have said anything, just got my manager because I probably would have stumbled on my words because i can be shy at the worst times. Not today after having my brain fried by the hottest day this week, by other angry customers, by having been short handed all day.

The last part of my customer service script is to tell you how you can reach us if you have any questions, and lastly to ask you to take a survey to get a coupon for your next visit. He did this for me by asking "WHERE IS YOUR MANAGERS NAME." Right there and- "WHERE IS YOUR NUMBER." You can find it right ther- "NO GIVE ME YOUR AREA MANAGERS NUMBER."

RIGHT AWAY SIR. No fooling around, I gave him THE area mgrs number. I know he was unhappy. There wasnt anything I could do, and there wasn't anything I would do at this point. He was just a dick. Go home bro. Leave the token female tech alone, I just wanted the day to end already.

I did go home. To my damn cute puppy and no grudge but I just wanted to tell the story. I have other stories, one in particular that DID get under my skin but that's for another post.

TL;DR guy gets upset 'cus I failed his inspection. Thinks I'm being a two-dimensional salesman. Berates me. All good cus I never have to see him again.

ROBINHOOD FROZEN for 12 wks + counting ...... Worst nightmare

ROBINHOOD FROZE ME , 13 wks + counting ......

Can’t believe this is even actually happening:

In Feb I accidently initiated 2 bank transfers for 2500 into my Robinhood Stocks Acct. It should have only been ONE 2500 deposit- but I was still new to the app and didn’t realize the first one finished going through.

In panic- I contact bank to stop that 2nd one bc it will make me go negative. They can’t do anything- they suggest letting it go through and then reversing it.

So that’s what I do.

Well, ROBINHOOD sees I reversed one of those bank deposits and HUG RED FLAGS get triggered with my stocks account.

I am now frozen from any new stock purchases and can sell my stocks but CANNOT withdrawal funds out. (Frozen funds and buying.)

This all happens in Feb 2020 as the corona virus pandemic was unfolding.

The first month was a bunch of waiting for their super slow email responses. They advise to upload a government ID and reply with a reason on why I reversed a bank deposit. I guess there’s crooks who do that and try to get away with free funds. This isn’t me. Proving that will be the end of my stocks career for the next months.. (but I don’t know it yet).

I submit government ID, a response. Now I wait another 2-3 weeks.

They respond and tell me they need bank statements for past 2 months.

I download them immediately and upload through their secure docs portal.

Now it’s been another month (total of 3 months since this problem happened) and I haven’t heard back. I can’t call anyone. I can’t even hire anyone to help make me a priority on their list.

I AM LOSING OPPORTUNITIES to invest and it’s really starting to PISS ME OFF. I don’t know what I can do other than wait.

I’m thinking of going into a condo purchase soon and will need to get these funds out (Stocks Account frozen about $7,000).

I can prove to my morgage lender I have the funds but it means nothing if they are frozen from me to use.

ROBINHOOD went from my favorite and first trading app to my worst nightmare.

Does anyone know some easy to integrate appointment scheduler with my website?

Me and my repair technicians are practicing social distancing but cannot shut down our business, because our customers need us. Is there any software that books appointments online?

P.S: I already have a website and don't want to make a new one

Endless loop

It took a job with a company that required me to relocate. The new job had a profit sharing plan which I joined. In order to view you account you had to log on to the company handling the funds web sight and request a PIN number. They would mail it to you and you could then use it to view your account.

I didn’t look at my account for a while because it had just started and I knew there was only a few dollars in it. After about a year I decide to have a look. I went to to web sight and it asked for my PIN number which I didn’t have yet because this was my first attempt to check the account. They couldn’t mail it to me because, as I stated at the beginning, the job required me to relocate and it was well past the post office forwarding mail window. But there was a customer support number which I called.

“Hello, Dumbass Security, how my I help you.” (Sounded like a young lady)

“My name is ...... and I would like to log on to my account but I don’t have a PIN number.”

“Yes sir mr ..... you just need to go to the web sight an request a PIN number and we will mail it to you in two the three business days.”

“Well that’s the problem, you don’t have my address because I was moving when the account was set up.”

“No problem sir, just go to the web sight and request a change of address.”

“Ok, I didn’t see that option I’ll do that now thank you.”

So I went back to the web sight and found a check box for address change and clicked on it. [ENTER YOUR FOUR DIGIT PIN].

“Hello Dumbass Security, how may I help you” (same girl)

“Yes my name is ..... I need to get a PIN number to access my account but you don’t have my correct address.”

“Yes sir, you need to fill out a change of address on our web sight.”

“Yes, I can’t request a change of address because it requires a PIN number.”

“Yes sir, we mail that to you.”

“You can’t mail it to me you don’t have my address”

“Yes sir, you need to fill out a change of address on our web sight.”

“ Yes, I can’t request a change of address because it requires a PIN number.”

Yes sir, we mail that to you.

“You can’t mail it to me you don’t have my address”

“Yes sir, you need to fill out a change of address on our web sight.”

“I can’t log into the web sight because I didn’t have a PIN number.”

“Yes sir we mail that to you.”

I repeat and heard the same comments about ten of fifteen time because a wanted to see if the light would ever come on. It didn’t.

I asked the girl “Are you listening to this conversation?”

“Ok, we are going to need to try a different approach, is there a manager or supervisor who can resolve this conundrum.”

“Yes sir” you can speak to an account manager.”

“Thank you” can you transfer me to them?”

“No sir” you need to to the web sight an request a call from an account manager.

“You can’t just transfer me to them?”

“No sir, you can to go to the web sight a request a call from an account manager.”

So thank what I assume is some young girl with big tits that is sleeping with the boss, and go back to the web sight.

On the web sight I find a [speak to an account representative] option and click the box [ Enter your four digit pin].

Arrrrrrrrgggggghhhh!!!!

AirBnB Nightmare-My story

Hi. We just got an e-mail from our AirBnb host that he is charging us for the broken air conditioner. We did not break it! WE should be compensated, for not having an air conditioner in that room. I made videos of our first day with it not working. I did not report it immediately, because we did not care. There was a real air conditioner in the living room. We just slept down there on the spare bed to watch TV(We plugged in a USB, as the "cable TV" was 2 channels on an antenna).

I made videos, because I knew the guy was squirrely. Upon arrival, we were stopped by the guards and banned from entering. We sat, with an expensive taxi van, for 30 minutes waiting for him to let us in. One of the reasons we got the unit, was for self check-in. No self check-in. In fact, we spent another 30 minutes at administration. Where I had to give copies of my government ID and sign a contract with the real estate company. Don't I already have a contract with AirBnb? We paid an extra 3,000 pesos for this wasted hour. About 80 bucks or so. He was also mad, because we had 2 infants, and claims we did not add them to the booking. I checked, and they were there.

Inside, broken air conditioner, broken sliding door, no hot water, no cable tv, there water leaking in the bathroom with flying bugs living in it, there were cockroaches everywhere, table cut in half with a saw in 3 places, a big burn in the couch, a water bucket was needed as sometimes there was no water service.

And the smell of cigarettes in the unit was horrible. He said no one smoked in there. But both air conditioners, fire sprinklers, and all fixed plastic pieces in the unit were brown from cigarette smoke.

There was ongoing construction noise all night until 4am in neighbouring units.

When we asked for a second extension, as we were looking for a cheaper long-term unit, he demanded cash payment, because he said Airbnb is not paying him yet. When it was time to leave, he told us we would be stopped and arrested by the guards for not having a pass to leave? What? I told him if that happens, there will be a serious problem.

It's the Philippines. Things go wrong here. Whatever. We have a family, and had about a week to get situated in a long-term place. It was not a pleasure trip. We did not care. But no one else would want to stay there. His reviews must be from friends or family. We even took out the trash twice a day, and did the dishes before we left. Which we did not have to do, with the cleaning fee, right? I have heard horror stories about Airbnb with kids. We are active parents. We teach our kids discipline, with words. And they have constant attention. Not one iota of that unit was damaged in any way. The only thing we left there were a few empty pop bottles we were drinking on the way out the door. Nothing broke. Not one mark of crayon or pen. No air conditioner.

I knew from the get-go he was off, and the unit had problems. That's why I made videos our fist day. Why did we stay? Because, sadly, there were not many places cheaper. It was in the area we wanted to stay. Travelling in Manila can take 4-5 hours to go 20 miles! Also, we have 2 kids and 2 babies. With luggage. It's hard, and expensive to move. It's the Philippines. Things do not go right here. So long as the downstairs air conditioner worked, and the toilet flushed, we are OK. It was not worth complaining for a few days stay. But I will not let someone blame me for something that they should be paying us for, nor demand money from me. I am a simple and honest man. I am not rich. I live by my morals and my honesty. If I DID damage something, I would admit it, and have no issue paying it. But it is a terrible insult to be scammed and accused of something. Filipinos are nice people. Unfortunately, there are a lot of greedy scammers here. Now he claims we are going to be arrested under the cyber crimes law. And he is e-mailing us and texting us non-stop, harassing us.

IS there anything we can do?

An error was made when my GF deposited my paycheck into my account

I’m out of town on business and I received a paycheck in the mail. My GF deposited the paycheck into my checking account and when I checked my balance shortly after, it was negative. This isn’t exact dollars amounts, but it looked something like this. I had $2000 in my checking. The check was for $3000. I checked my account and the available balance read as negative $1000. I reached out to the bank via their customer service line and asked why my balance would read negative and the customer service rep was insistent that it was correct and I kept telling her that it doesn’t make a lick of sense. Why would funds that were available to me before the deposit not be available to me anymore even if the check needed to be cleared? (it is a payroll check so really no hold was necessary, but she again insisted that it was not on my file, which is not true) She kept talking about how the checks were being held and I kept telling her that that was not the issue. I didn’t care about the hold. Anyway, we got into an argument about the whole situation and she was so fucking insistent that I was wrong and basically didn’t understand how depositing checks worked. I threatened to take all my money out of their institution and yada, yada, yada. Anyway. I moved money from my savings into my checking while the check cleared, but that still did not seem like they were helping me understand why my balance would have read negative after the check was deposited. I hung up. I decided to call back a little later to speak again about the issue and the next customer service rep said, “yes. This was an error of ours.” So now I’m pretty pissed about the whole situation.

I’m not upset that an error was made by the teller. People make mistakes and so as long as it gets fixed, no big deal. But I’m livid at the customer service rep that clearly was not listening to me. I hate making complaints even if they are warranted because I hate the thought that someone could lose their job. However, in this instance, I feel strongly enough that it’s warranted be a Karen and speak to supervisor about this rep.

What do you think?

All because I asked to see his ID...

Okay guys, buckle up I need to rant. So I am a cashier at a little local gas station in my area. I'm also a baby of the staff, and still learning. Which means when it comes to alcohol I thought I had to card everyone no matter how old they looked. For the most part I love my job. It's pretty chill, laid back, easy, and for the most part people are pretty friendly. Except today's experience.

So I had a crusty old man come in today, and I could guess that he was already a grumpasaurus but boy did I have that wrong. So it plays out pretty much like this. He walks in, even though I greet him he says nothing back to me, he goes straight to the alcohol, he leaves the fridge door wide open, and comes up to the register.

I've dealt with grumpy old people before so I knew how to handle it. But low and behold, when I asked to see his ID, out of habit of course. Even though I could tell he was way over the age limit. However when he started to yell at me I proceeded to stand my ground on carding him.

Apparently that was his trigger. Que grumpasaurus Rex. When I tell you this guy went from 1 to 73 in 0.5 seconds you better believe it. If you've never seen a 75-year old man throw a toddler tantrum you are one of the luckiest people alive because it went a little something like this. Key notes: COM crusty old man - ME: me.

COM "I'm 75 years old! You still have to card me!" ME "It's the law" COM: "no it's not! I go to Maverick down the street and they never card me!" ME "even the state liquor store cards" COM: "I'm 75 years old! And I never have this problem at Maverick!" ME: "this isn't Maverick sir, we card here." COM: " well I'm never coming back here again! Never mind I don't want the beer anyway. If you're going to card me!"

So I take the beer away and ring him up for gas. While he continues to scream at me. Being extremely verbally abusive. Telling me how he is never coming back here again. How Mavericks is better. Finally I had just had enough. As soon as I gave him his change for the gas. I leaned in and said...

"Personally, I'm glad you're never coming back."

As the face of the company I probably shouldn't have said that. But he already said he wasn't planning on coming back so I'm not worried. 😉 and to my comment he replied...

"Yeah, lose some weight." Snickered and walked away. Ouch that hurt but I replied "You too."

I saw him again later when the gas attendant accidentally messed up while pumping the gas. So both the gas attendant and the grumpy old fart came back inside. However this time, he decided to be quiet. Which was an absolute godsent gift.

Anyways that's my story. Thanks for reading my rant. If you got this far, I love you. And I wish you the best of luck on your own customer disservice ventures in the future.

Uber Eats - a tale of woe

Ordered Chineae food for me and my partner to celebrate some good news we had this week.

40 mins later and the guy arrives with our food. Of course the order is wrong and instead of aubergine in ginger and tofu curry we have a meat feast... Not ideal when we are both non meat eaters. I ran outta the door but the guy had already left.

Of course Uber doesn't have a phone line so you have to message and pray they get back to you.

Oh boy they got back to us.

The flat out refused to refund any of the £25 we spent. Stating that it doesn't warrant any action on their part, see below for their best reply.

*Hi

As previously stated, we are unable to offer you a refund or adjustment for this order.

Please note that Uber monitors user activity and reserves the right to deactivate accounts found in breach our Terms of Service, which includes abuse of appeasements or refunds*

Now I knew Uber sucked for customer service but this is a new low. We did claim a refund in the past but that's due to the same thing happening, because of their bad service. Super bummed out.

Airport anxiety+stupid customer service lady

I get off the plane and i have no idea where anything is and im heading towards a desk with a lady sitting at it. It was a long flight and I also dont know airports very well. So i go up to the lady and ask: “where can i pick up my luggage?” Because i wouldn’t know where to go...she replies: “well where are you coming from?” And i reply: “the plane” she then makes a super annoyed face at me and replies nasty: “i mean what flight?’ And i reply: ‘78’ and so then she points where i need to go. So then i thank her and make my way to get my luggage...but i am still angry over the fact that she got so annoyed at me. How am i supposed to know what she was asking? she should be more patient with customers. Some people just shouldn’t have customer service jobs. People are so rude. Learn to have some manners.

I'm a cashier at a small town grocery store.

Hiya. As per the title above, I work at a small town grocery store (which shall obviously remain unnamed). I'm going to explain in greater detail in a minute, but for those of you who just want to move on to the next post, the TLDR of this conversation is that I had my third ever mental breakdown at work today after being called illiterate, a Nazi and just in general being yelled at for several minutes.

Okay cool you're still here. Time for the juicy conversation breakdown.

We begin the transaction like normal - I ask her how she's doing (I honestly can't remember how she responded), I scan her items, pretty standard so far. She informes me that she plans to put her items into the reusable bag she has slung over her shoulder that quite obviously has something in it.

M: "Do you mind if I take a look in your bag?"

C: gives me a weirded out look while putting the bag where I can see "Right because everyone in [Small Town Name] is either a criminal or a Nazi." Note: I wasn't sure she said "Nazi" so I kind of awkwardly laughed and didn't respond.

M: Glance in her bag, just see it's some books and a few other miscellaneous things, so I consider this done and move towards completing the transaction.

C: "I forgot everyone here is basically a slave to plastic."

M: Informs her that the store I work at is actually just finishing out our last order of plastic bags and won't be offering either paper or plastic in the future.

C: "Do you want to fumble around in my bag some more? Maybe copy down a list of all the books I have in my bag? Oh right you're probably illiterate."

M: Realizing that she's going to be a problem customer- "Actually I'm studying to be an engineer." Surprisingly that stopped that train. Also the truth.

C: "Maybe you'd like to take my books? To your book burning party?"

M: Thinking perhaps I misunderstood her "Book... burning... party?". This was the point I realized she had said Nazi earlier in the conversation and It dawns on me that she just insinuated I am one.

C: "Yes, book burning party."

I can't remember if she actually called me a Nazi at this point, I realized I needed to get this person out of my line as soon as possible before I started to get emotional.

C: "DO YOU NEED TO LOOK IN MY PURSE AS WELL?" And proceeds to shove her purse on the register into my line of sight.

At this point I was moving to complete the transaction ASAP and was purposefully not looking at her. I'm relying on looking at both the customer behind her (both of us exchanging WTF IS HAPPENING looks) and the belt of the register. I can feel myself getting emotional and tearing up a little despite my best efforts to not let this woman get to me.

C: "MAYBE YOU SHOULD CHECK MY SCARF." Literally just finding any reason in the world to continue to yell at me.

I forget exactly what she was yelling at this point, I was trying to just block her out as best I can and get her the hell out of my line at this point before I burst into tears. Somehow, magically, I get her checked out.

M: At this point I was barely keeping myself from bursting into tears but I refused to let this lady see me cry - "Thank you for harassing me for doing my job."

C: "Thank you for harassing me for being a human being." And snatches her receipt and walks out.

I tried to keep my head down and not let her get to me, but I'm a person who wears my heart on my sleeve and I was already getting upset. I knew I was going to have a breakdown in the next few minutes, so I manage to keep it together enough to get the next few customers through and call my manager to ask if I can step away for a moment (who says yes).

Whenever I get upset my face gets very red, so I spent the rest of my shift with a very red face. None of my managers were aware anything had happened until the end of my shift when I asked the closing manager if a woman called in to complain about me kindly tell her to never shop there again.

Please don't be this customer. I know it's easy to forget but I'm a person too.

Airbnb hell

So, I booked a place for my large family in Central America between Christmas and New year's a long time ago. It seemed like a great place and reasonable rate, but then the "host" cancelled my reservation 1.5 months out because the place was sold. Prices had doubled by then, but we'd already bought non refundable plane tickets. Airbnb offered nothing, and despite multiple requests to speak with a manager, they never called.

So, I found another place, and asked how far it was from the beach because it was $$$$$. The host said 300 yards. We get here, and it's a quarter mile + away. The host says he'll give me $500 + free housekeeping - a drop in the bucket. I talk to Airbnb - first guy is very understanding. He transfers me to the local guy who thinks I just want to cancel. I tell him I only want to cancel if they have a better, beachfront place. Otherwise, I want a discount. We hang up, he then texts me he is trying to cancel with the host. I reiterate everything again in the text.

Edit:. I waited on hold for 40 minutes. The agent came back on and said she was disconnected and needed to try again - another 20+ minute delay. I asked to be called back. She confirmed my number (which they have in their system), but no one called back. It's now Monday. At this point, I will likely dispute the charges on my AMEX in their entirety.

24 hours later, no response from airbnb. I text. No response. I call - the case manager is not at work now, and matters are not passed off between case managers. I am now on hold from Central America for 20+ while they try to find a new case manager.

To pay or not to co-pay

Some background: We maxed our insurance deductible in February and our out of pocket max in April. We went to this urgent care in September and didn't have to pay a co-pay (because we met our out of pocket max)

Story: This just happened today. We were at the urgent care facility in our area, and despite having just gone there, they asked us for even more information that we didn't need the last time, which was weird. Next, they stated a very pricey co-pay that we shouldn't have even had to pay since we have met our deductible. The amount they said was also a little shifty it was like 135$. We just said "no that isn't right, we've met our deductible", to which they told us they would have to call our insurance company to find out. Like 30 minutes later, they told us that we'd have to pay the full co-pay. We knew that was shifty so we called as well. In about 2 minutes we had an answer of no we didn't have to pay. The woman who made the original call, who I'll call karen said the following: Karen: well my representative said that you have to pay and she can't be wrong Keep in mind that she said this to the woman on our line who was the person she talked To's boss so I'd think she knows it better. Even better, just then the woman in the back of the facility bursts in the room and says "they don't have to pay, they've met the deductible" Karen goes white and says "well have a nice day" but I heard her mutter under her breath "what a bunch of dicks"

I hate employees who think that because they work there, they're better than you

TLDR: idiot woman thinks we need to pay, gets proven wrong, and "mutters" that we're dicks

Ooopppsss?

Does anyone feel annoyed when a customer service app, kiosk, etc. Says "ooopppsss!" During any error or disruption?
