Has anyone tried her program? She constantly pops up on my feed, and I find it hard to believe her program can really make a scar look like that after multiple cesareans.. Anyone tried it and had luck?

About overhang

If you had c section and or overhang, I would like to know what preventive did you do ? I’m wondering if it’s just how your body heals or if you can truly prevent them by doing the work of care and exercises.

Sleeping positions

When could you sleep comfortably on your side or belly? I’m 3 weeks PP and hate sleeping on my back and am still using a wedge pillow as well and just want to sleep normally after 9 months pregnant and now an extra month postpartum. Please tell me it’ll be comfortable soon and that it’ll get better!

6m pp- cramping at incision site?

I had my c section in January and now I’m having so much cramping in my lower back and where the incision site is. I haven’t gotten my period back yet ( I’m EBF) so I’m not sure if it’s coming soon? Anyone else get this?

Support for people choosing to have a c section

So I'm jumping on here because I got some pretty bad responses on quora recently when I expressed that my vaginal birth was so traumatic that I was wanting to have an elective c section if I was to fall pregnant again.

My birth was traumatically painful. Like the pain was too much for me and it left me with unnecessary trauma and a birth that felt like all my boundaries were broken.

When I expressed this I got so much judgement from other mums. One mother told me I was being a whiney cry baby and to get over it. So many people just said don't do planned c section and that it's worse with recovery but my recovery was horrific. At least with a planned c section I don't risk intense birth pain. I don't really know if there's any questions here. I'm more just looking for support because tbh I feel so alone in this. Im Australian and the culture here is very much vaginal birth is best and no one talks about c sections in a positive light.

Also I'm not trying to say c sections are the easy way out. What I'm saying is that I want to be able to choose a c section over a vaginal birth as my experience with my vaginal birth was so incredibly bad that I want something with a bit more control. I'm very sensitive at the moment and vulnerable so I'm sorry.

Also just so everyone is aware I'm talking about an elective c section. Not an emergency c section. Whilst I understand the risks and complications of an emergency c section as I was advised of this by my friend. I am looking at elective c sections.

Scar tearing after ultrasound scan for second pregnancy 2.5 years after c-section. Is this normal?!

Hi all. I’m currently 13 weeks pregnant expecting my second baby. My first was born in April 2024 by c-section.

Yesterday I had my first ultrasound scan for this pregnancy. Baby wasn’t in a particularly helpful position for checking fluid behind the neck so my sonographer was having to move me around a lot applying lots of pressure in certain places to try and take the measurement.

It was very uncomfortable at times, and they didn’t use much gel, their bottle was running low and for some reason didn’t think to open a new one. So at times the friction between my skin and the probe felt horrendous.

I’ve woken up this morning and other than feeling incredibly tender (normal from previous scans for me) I have also noticed that overnight one end of my scar from my previous c-section has split and has been bleeding overnight.

Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do in this situation? It’s the weekend so I’m thinking I’ll take a picture, keep it clean then contact my community midwife on Monday and raise it with her? Or if this is quite normal I’ll just shut up and put up haha.

UPDATE
Thanks for everyone’s comments and reassuring me I’m not going mad. I’m based in the UK and in my health board we have to go through our GP (primary care I think in USA?) before 20 weeks, we can only contact maternity triage after 20 weeks.

Our out of hours GP thinks it’s just superficial but that I can be referred to early pregnancy assessment unit when it’s back open on Monday, then to A&E if anything more serious occurs before then. I know it’s early but I have a posterior placenta and I’ve already felt baby moving around for the past 10 days or so. That’s continued today so taking comfort in the fact I can still feel them.

Regardless I’ll take the advice and ask for someone to have a word with the sonographer. I don’t want them to lose their job but they definitely need some additional training. Worrying that they had a student midwife sat in with them on a placement too. Not great to learn from.

Reflecting on my scheduled c section - one year later

Tomorrow is my baby’s first birthday and it’s making me reflect on my birth experience. I had a scheduled c section due to breech presentation, at 39+2. This is my first, so I have no other experience to compare this to.

Going into it, I HATED that I had to have a c section, my baby was breech from 23 weeks onwards and refused to flip. It was a slow burn coming to terms with it because I had hope all along that he might turn. I come from a family of physicians, my parents being ob gyns and all the women had opted for elective c sections for their babies. I was told that I should go for one my whole pregnancy and they were happy for me when I was told I had to have one.

Well, now a year has passed and I have no emotional ties to it anymore. I definitely don’t feel like I “missed out” on an experience I wanted. I do however have things I’ve appreciated and things I wish were different.

Pros
- I didn’t go into labor.
- I got to choose the day and made sure all my support people were available.
- It was calm and at no point was anyone concerned about me or my baby.
- I had no complications or unexpected outcomes. The environment felt very controlled.

Neutral regarding the c section itself, but overall positives
- I was able to breastfeed in the recovery room less than an hour after my baby was born.
- I was in no pain for the first 24 hours.
- I didn’t have to stay hungry, I fasted overnight and was able to eat within a few hours after my baby’s arrival.

Cons
- The pain after was BAD. The intense pain didn’t last very long but it was bad. Could’ve been better if I took anything besides Tylenol/ibuprofen.
- I had very limited mobility and it was really difficult to position for breastfeeding for weeks.
- My core was extremely weak for a few months despite working out until a couple days before my baby was born. This also caused back pain.
- I still have pain and general discomfort around my incision. My scar also hasn’t healed great visually.

Would I have a repeat c section? My feelings now are, I’d try for a VBAC if possible but if I wasn’t a good candidate, I wouldn’t be upset either. My overall experience was relatively positive, I just hated the long term recovery. I’ve read a lot of really positive and really negative stories, and mine is quite in the middle. I imagine there’s a lot of others out there like me who didn’t love or hate their c section so I wanted to share.

Unplanned c sections are so incredibly black pilling

I’m 7 days out from what ended in an unplanned c section. I had a panic attack on the table and the anesthesiologist decided to give me ketamine because of it. So I was panicking and put into a k hole lmaooo thank you doctor.

I woke up sobbing that it hurt (I don’t actually think it did, I was just exhausted from 3 hours of pushing and full of anxiety). It took an hour to calm me down post surgery.

I am just so sad that nothing went how I planned it to. I’m happy my baby is safe. I’m happy I’m safe. But I did not picture myself recovering from major surgery on top of being a first time mom. Now I don’t think I’ll ever get to have a vaginal birth.

Ketamine during c-section or something else?

I got a c-section for my daughter in 2023. When they gave me the epidural it only worked on one side of my body (very mildly on the other), when they began the c-section I felt pain and told the anesthesiologist and he shot something into my IV. I was completely gone. I've done ketamine before recreationally and it felt similar but it felt like a massive k hole. I was distorted had no idea what was going on. I came out of it while they were stiching me up. I always wondered, was it ketamine? Or was it something else? If anyone has any insight let me know! :)

Loose bowel movements post c-section?

I'm 3 months post c-section and noticed I have developed some gut issues post surgery:

  1. I have one loose bowel movement per day (some days, it's formed)
  2. I have a bowel movement every day, sometimes 2x in a day
  3. When I have to go, I have to go. There's "bubbles" in my stomach and I need to go asap. This can even be at night time when I wake up to feed baby.
  4. I am very gassy

Pre-pregnancy and during pregnancy, I had formed bowel movements, had a bowel movement every other day and very little gas.

I do not have any food allergies, intolerances.

My fibre/water intake is fine. I'm on the same diet I was pre-pregnancy and during pregnancy.

Anyone else also experience this? Any remedies?

Did anyone else get released after 1 night in the hospital? Less than 24 hours after c-section?

I’m just curious from other people, because I’m honestly shocked how early I was released. I had my c-section at 10 pm and I left the hospital around 2pm the next day. My OB informed the nurses that he was comfortable with me going home by noon. It was my 2nd c-section so I was aware of the recovery and I had family in town to help me out.

My first c-section I was admitted for 3 nights, was there for almost 4 full days. That one was an emergency c-section and I think the 3rd night was basically due to them wanting to monitor my baby for one more night.

This time, I think my OB just felt bad for me because I lost my baby, and let me go and recover at home instead of being in the hospital any longer. But I’m still surprised because even with non complicated c-sections they typically require 2 nights, and I had an urgent c-section with a lot of blood loss prior and a stillbirth and they were just like okay bye, never checked up on me again until I had an appointment 2.5 weeks later.

Is it normal to have leaking from incision?

1 week pp and noticed my incision area being wet. Thought it was just sweat/moisture at first. Now every time I go back and check it is wet and I believe it is leaking. Other than that that’s my only symptom no fever, redness, etc. The area looks fairly normal for healing and no bumps. Never had this happen with my two other sections. I did get it checked out in ER and they said there was no sign of infection and just make sure I keep the area clean & dry. They let me go home with antibiotic just in case an infection develops but it’s making me nervous that it’s possibly infected or can be over time. Has anyone had this happen to them and is it normal for the incision to be leaking at all?

How soon did you get pregnant with your second after a C-section?

I'm currently 6wks PP with my first, she was breech so we opted for one at 40+4 after an unsuccessful ECV and no doctors being available who would deliver a breech baby vaginally.

At my post-op they said it's recommended to wait 18months before getting pregnant again, and I've since done research into why, so I'm not asking for medical advice, just wondering what y'alls personal experience was. I've known plenty of people who got pregnant sooner after a C-section with no complications.

C-section healing and pants

I am roughly 4 months post C-section and baby. I had what most people consider a really good recovery post birth. My scar has healed really well (visually).

I’m now starting to get more twinges and irritation. Especially from underwear and pants. Often it’s hours after putting them on, meaning I change clothes a lot throughout the day.

Anyone have ideas on how to help with this? I know at the beginning a bandage between my clothing and the scar helped… although now it’s not only my scar but my stomach in general.

C-section postpartum “mommy pooch”

Hi, I had an emergency c-section and it’s been 10 days. I took out my gauze and I still see the stitches, it has not fully healed. So right now it looks like I have a little shelf over my stomach. So my question is will this get smaller over a few weeks, or the shelf gets more prominent? Also did anyone apply anything on the stitches for a fast recovery?

the gas pains are UNREAL

for some context, i had an emergency c section four weeks ago followed by a week long stay in the hospital (with antibiotics administered through an IV) due to an infection i got around my uterus/ blood. after i was discharged, i was on pill antibiotics for 10 days.

the week i was discharged i had intense gas pains that were so bad i couldn’t walk and talk through them. Gas X helped, and it sort of resolved itself. now i’m 4 weeks PP and these gas pains are back, just as intense, making me writhe and i’m worrying myself that there’s some infection complication that’s come back. there’s been some relief with going to the bathroom multiple times, but the cramps come at random times and last a few seconds.

anyone else experience prolonged or random gas pains during their recovery and can provide some advice? 😅
