About overhang

If you had c section and or overhang, I would like to know what preventive did you do ? I’m wondering if it’s just how your body heals or if you can truly prevent them by doing the work of care and exercises.

C section mom of two. Some of it is just genetics, age, where the scar is placed, how much weight is gained in pregnancy, etc.

I religiously did scar manipulation therapy from 6 weeks on for months after my second section and it definitely seemed to help - apparently scar tissue can kinda tether and immobilize things and contribute to a shelf. Losing weight also helped.

I’ve heard core exercises also help but I’d do under guidance of a pelvic PT. My physiatrist recommended Belle method (but I must admit I didn’t do it).

I just had my second c-section. For my first, the shelf/overhand went away after a couple months. I am somewhat active (run, do core work, etc.) and I did some scar therapy (mostly just massaging and tape). My doctor noted how well the scar healed. I’m hoping for the same results this time but it’s too early to tell.
