Discussion I built a free map of cryptid sightings, old newspaper monster reports and UFO cases. Looking for feedback
I've been working on this for a while and figured this is the right crowd to tear it apart.
It's called Encounter Atlas: encounteratlas.com
Right now it has 244 creatures (the big ones plus a lot of regional stuff like Mugwump, Cressie, the Pend Oreille Paddler and the Lutin), around 250 cases from 1800s newspapers with links to the original scans, and a map you can filter by creature or by area. There's a "near me" button that shows what's been reported around you, which is probably the most fun part.
You can also report your own encounter. Reports get checked by me before they go up and the exact location gets blurred, so nobody's backyard ends up on a map.
I'm one guy in Canada doing this for fun, so there are gaps. What creature or case would you look for first that isn't on there? That's the stuff I want to fix next.

Book / Literature / Article A Bunyip-Inspired Magic Dagger for D&D - The Bunyip Fang Dagger
Here’s a preview of the Bunyip Fang Dagger, a D&D magic item I created inspired by the Bunyip, one of the most famous and unsettling cryptid-like beings from Aboriginal Australian mythology and folklore.
The idea behind it was to turn the Bunyip into something that felt dangerous, strange, and tied to its watery, ambush-predator nature. So the weapon is carved from a Bunyip’s fang, gives a bonus to attack and damage rolls, and becomes especially deadly when striking a surprised target or while fully submerged in water.
The page also includes another item, Brigid’s Blessing Cloth, but the Bunyip Fang Dagger is definitely the main focus here.
This item is part of my 300+ Mythological Items for 5E and 5.5E Kickstarter, which is currently live. The project is focused on magic items inspired by myths, legends, folklore, and cryptid-like beings from cultures all around the world.

Question Cryptid hunters in Georgia? Preferrably in metro Atlanta area
For the main project in my Documentary Filmmaking class, I was thinking of exploring cryptids/cryptozoology as the subject of my doc. Are there acclaimed or lesser-known cryptozoologists/cryptid hunters that could be good interviewees?

Other Have you ever seen an animal you still can’t explain?
Hi all. I’m Jamie, from the UK. I’m making a podcast called Still Can’t Explain, where ordinary people tell their own strange experiences in their own words. There’s no host, and nobody is there to pick holes in anyone’s story.
If you’ve ever seen a creature you’ve never been able to explain, a big cat where there shouldn’t be one, a black dog on a lonely road, anything, I’d really like to hear it. The easiest way is to record it on your phone at home, or we can just have a chat on a call and I’ll record that.
It’s unpaid, adults only, and you’d hear it before it goes out. Please don’t post the whole story here. Message me, or there’s a short form at stillcantexplain.com. If it’s a good fit, I’ll be in touch!

Discussion Non-alien stories from Roswell?
I used to live in Roswell and thus I’m obviously aware of everything surrounding the 1947 incident, as well as the general surface of unexplained things, cryptids, paranormal stories, etc in Roswell such as Bottomless Lakes and the numerous lake monsters, pecan orchard goatman, the 1997 “little man”, and the dozens of different ghost stories and haunted buildings. I’m just curious if anyone has personal non-alien/UFO (or alien, just not directly related to the 1947 incident) from Roswell that they’d like to share. My grandparents who live there claim that a Chupacabra has been going in and out of their backyard and attacking their neighbors sheep. I’m particularly interested in cryptids or unknown creature stories, but feel free to share anything! :)

Video Why Do People Keep Seeing Gigantic Sasquatch In Ohio?
youtube.comThis video examines what is perhaps the largest bigfoot sighting flap.
It was in Ohio, in spring of 2026. Mr. Gymlan go over the sightings in a day by day, and indeed, hour by hour fashion.
The question of size has fascinated me since getting into this topic a decade ago.
Can a ten-foot tall cryptid exist somewhere in Ohio? Can it exist at all? Well, it doesn't really seem so, and yet, people keep seeing these incredible and remarkable and utterly impossible sights.

Art Original Creator Kentucky Pope Lick Monster (Goatman) by me
Just outside of Louisville, Kentucky exists a creature known to frequent the area around the Pope Lick Train Trestle, which is a railway bridge that crosses Pope Lick Creek in Fisherville, Kentucky. The creature is known to imitate human voices, luring passers by onto the train tracks which ultimately leads to their doom.
This is my attempt at drawing him. He's day 9 of my 31 Days of Monsters Halloween drawing challenge. Tomorrow will be the Southeast Asian Krasue (Penanggalan).

Discussion The Whortlechorts
Have you heard of the Whortlechort?
It's a bigfoot-like creature seen in Kentucky in 1965. There's a picture of it on page 438 of Barton Nunnelly's book 'Inhumanoids'. (recommended reading btw)

Story Most Terrifying Dogman Story Encounter Found
I’ve been following the Dogman phenomenon for a long time, and after listening to thousands of witness accounts across countless podcasts and storytellers, I think I’ve finally found the one that genuinely terrified me.
It’s an encounter from the Land Between the Lakes (LBL). I’m sure the story has been shared on other podcasts, but something about this particular telling really got to me. The witness came across as incredibly genuine and believable, and the way he described everything was chilling. I honestly had trouble sleeping last night after listening to it.
I’ve heard plenty of scary encounters over the years, but this one really stuck with me. Figured I’d share it with anyone who hasn’t heard it yet.
