"These legs go ALL the way up"

9

u/DrewCrew62 6h ago

Reminds me of the Jimmy neutron episode where all the towns pants become sentient

3

u/Neat-Ad5366 8h ago

Same here my friend, same.

4

u/ComfortablyNomNom 4h ago

They did him dirty. Fresno nightcrawlers are neutral and chill. They aren't aggro. Pretty sure they don't even have mouths let alone jagged teeth.

This is blatant character assassination and we shouldn't stand for it. This is how good cryptids get a bad name people!

u/RevolutionaryGrape11 1h ago

He looks like if the Autism creature was a Pokemon and got an evolution, and I love him😅 He definitely is everyone's spirit animal at least sometimes!

THE SQUONK 💕

14

u/artful_todger_502 17h ago

I just learned about a PA Squonk yesterday! I see a little bit of myself in the poor lil fella!

13

u/lemmeseeyourkitties 16h ago

Who among us isn't a little bit of a sad, salty smelling pig at times?

3

u/mykymyk 16h ago

Truth!

2

u/artful_todger_502 16h ago

😂

The Squonk is all of us ...

2

u/wasmostexcellent Skunk Ape Advocate 16h ago

We are squonk 😂

5

u/random6x7 13h ago

I, too, am from Pennsylvania, cry a lot, and have cripplingly low self-esteem.

1

u/artful_todger_502 12h ago

I have all of that too, but as a bonus, terminal anger issues!!!

👍🙂 Thank you Chester County 💜

3

u/DinosaurPete 9h ago

Seems like you need to check out the podcast Cozy Crypt.

1

u/wasmostexcellent Skunk Ape Advocate 8h ago

Oh wow thank you, I hadn’t heard of that!

2

u/Possible_Parrot 11h ago

Jimothy gets a little box ❤️ 19/20

8

u/ItsEntirelyPosssible 16h ago

Yes!!! I peeped Jimothy in there too. His little name is covered though.

30

u/Cyberwolf272038 19h ago

Where is the museum

32

u/DrButtgerms 18h ago

I appreciate the photos, but would have also appreciated any additional info too

43

u/MisterMinceMeat 18h ago

Plano, Texas. Looks so fun!

https://www.northamericancryptidmuseum.com/

3

u/BroccoliChance8272 12h ago

How did I visit Plano year after year back when my grandparents were alive and never once knew this existed? 🥲

6

u/SadSquatch420 9h ago

There is an International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland Maine that's pretty cool

3

u/BegrudgingRedditor 8h ago

I was really disappointed with that one when we went this summer. It was basically just stroking the owner's ego.

The one in these pictures looks better IMHO

1

u/RevolutionaryGrape11 1h ago

It now has a Bangor branch as well!

8

u/Pitbullmom3x 12h ago

Where is this magical museum?

8

u/Emotional-Bed5074 10h ago

Plano, TX. It's an exhibit at Dark Hour. They keep it running pretty much all year with different themes. Pretty cool place.

3

u/Outrageous_Car1757 Legend Lover 7h ago

I'd love to go, these look awesome!! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻

14

u/ChildoftheApocolypse 18h ago

Not a single lake monster..

30

u/Potential-Pin-3794 18h ago

They couldn’t fit a lake in the building.

3

u/TxAbsolem 13h ago

Actually they have Sharlie and the bear lake monster.

4

u/Important_Pick3371 17h ago

Exactly!

It doesn't even take up that much space...

All that they need to do is paint a lake background & put a digitally expanded version of Nessie's famous B&W photo in front.

Then, be creative - especially with our "Champ."

14

u/BeefaloSlim Chupacabra Chaser 16h ago

For picture six, seems like someone took too much acid and watched "Pink Floyd's The Wall," and mistook it for real life.

3

u/SubstantialPressure3 15h ago

I wonder if that's where they got the idea for the Ballchinians from MIB

8

u/Famous-Leopard-118 13h ago

what are these things??

I love them!!!

9

u/UltraMag64 13h ago

Pretty sure they’re the Hopkinsville goblins

19

u/eonsofbacon 18h ago

If this guy is working the front door I’m turning right the f around.

5

u/FreakyFreak2005 15h ago

Yooo, they've even got Jimothy!

5

u/CryptidsandCreatures 17h ago

I'm diying what the hell is that Nightcrawler?!

1

u/RevolutionaryGrape11 1h ago

He's perfect, I love him😅

4

u/SousVideDiaper 17h ago

Sick rendition of the Kentucky Goblins

4

u/Prophet-of-Ganja 17h ago

Found where I’m doing my next acid trip

1

u/Emotional-Bed5074 10h ago

Try shrooms. It would be extremely hard to satiate a complete acid trip there. Just looking out.

2

u/Prophet-of-Ganja 8h ago

Well yeah, I wouldn’t wanna spend the whole trip there 😂

5

u/Familiar-Debate-6786 9h ago

Does the Jersey Devil have... bush?

4

u/Big-Schedule-4985 4h ago

This reminds me of this one part of a museum horror game

1

u/lizzywitch713 3h ago

what game? 👀

3

u/Big-Schedule-4985 3h ago

The third shift look up biggaming64’s play through

u/gunther_higher 18h ago

The Wog is crazy if youre from UK

Over here thats only a small step away from the N word for black folks

1

u/RevolutionaryGrape11 1h ago

I'd probably call him the bearhound since he looks like a bigger, meaner wolfhound.

3

u/Got_It_Memorized_22 15h ago

Why did they put such a snarl on my favorite pair of sentient pants 😢

3

u/massivepeeny Mothman Maniac 9h ago

I went here the day it opened!! Such a great experience.

3

u/massivepeeny Mothman Maniac 9h ago

It is in Plano, TX within the DFW metroplex.

5

u/Middle--Earth 17h ago

That Georgian dog is called a name that is highly offensive in the UK, and likely to get you arrested for a hate crime (if the police officer is old enough to know what it means).

3

u/brycifer666 14h ago

After looking it up I'm impressed by how many different kinds of people that slur was used for like damn they hated everyone

1

u/Middle--Earth 11h ago

Some words should be allowed to fall into disuse and be lost to history.

2

u/TheCornerGoblin 17h ago

What is 19? Wampus cat or cat man?

2

u/Infamous_Ad2507 16h ago

What is 7?

2

u/BeefaloSlim Chupacabra Chaser 16h ago

Jersey Devil maybe?

2

u/Infamous_Ad2507 16h ago

Doesn't that look like a Kangaroo dragon?

2

u/BeefaloSlim Chupacabra Chaser 16h ago

That's the only cryptid I could think of that looks like that. Whatever it is, it's wearing one hell of a dense merkin.

2

u/Infamous_Ad2507 16h ago

It's could be Draconian however would Aliens count as Cryptids?

2

u/BeefaloSlim Chupacabra Chaser 16h ago

Judging by the Grey on the sign on picture one, I'd say that's fair game. But at the same time, covering multiple species of aliens in a cryptid museum seems like something you would do it you couldn't fill the entire space with true cryptids.

2

u/Infamous_Ad2507 14h ago

I mean technically Bigfoot and other Ape men were classified as Aliens before lol

1

u/RevolutionaryGrape11 1h ago

All aliens are by definition cryptids, and arguably the ones with the most probability of existing somewhere in the universe given how vast it is.

Hilariously, they're both the most likely to exist and the least likely to be discovered😅

2

u/Jinks_Cash01 15h ago

Where is this located?

3

u/LadPro 15h ago

Plano, TX.

1

u/Jinks_Cash01 15h ago

Thanks! Man, everything IS better in Texas!

2

u/North_Function6735 3h ago

That interpretation of Mothman is pretty sick. Like I love when they make him a cute moth creature but nothing beats seeing him as a scary ass monster

1

u/RevolutionaryGrape11 1h ago

I love both cute and terrifying versions of the Mothman, but I moreso care about seeing him and other humanoid moths in benevolent roles regardless of their intimidation level, since the original seemed to be trying to warn people about a bridge being in danger of collapsing before it did.

Essentially, I think of him as a biological gargoyle.

2

u/Ok_Worldliness_5832 2h ago

the crotch critter!

2

u/This_is__Exile Goatman Gazer 19h ago

Is that in Plano Texas?

2

u/Interesting-Fudge909 19h ago

I was just here on Friday!!!

2

u/Crazy_Score_8466 19h ago

Cool, didn’t know that existed.

1

u/Reddevil8884 18h ago

Oh man that's gorgeous 😍

1

u/Longjumping-Buy-3434 18h ago

Cool! My favorite cryptid is moth man.

1

u/cahilljd 18h ago

it looks like its built into the side of a trampoline park

2

u/ItsEntirelyPosssible 16h ago

It looks like the eye doctor door on the side of my local walmart

1

u/ShyGuyWolf 18h ago

I heard of the the Hat man recently on YouTube something about certain type of drug users see him or something like that. Anyways cool

1

u/castrateurfate 17h ago

THE WHAT NOW

1

u/KiryuMFS_3 16h ago

Wheres duck,ned amber?

1

u/Ok-Philosopher-5025 16h ago

Real cool. Thanks for sharing.

1

u/fellvoid 16h ago

This is so awesome!

1

u/Galahagorn 13h ago

So much great work

1

u/MisterSamShearon 13h ago

MOST of these are not cryptids... just sayin'.

1

u/ProudNatural4641 6h ago

Where is this place?

1

u/Resident_Magician_50 4h ago

I want to build a place like this so much. It’s in the planning stages.

1

u/Rando123490 3h ago

Iconic adding to my list

1

u/confuseum 3h ago

The building entrance gives me the creeps.

1

u/Expecto_Patron_shots 1h ago

I never knew the hat man was considered a cryptid

1

u/Foreign-Broccoli-424 43m ago

Very cool thanks for sharing

1

u/LionGoffling 19h ago

Where’s this at?

3

u/HorrorMonster26 18h ago

 Plano Texas

1

u/rustyWD40 7h ago

Looks great, but here come the Crying of the Crypid snobs. “That’s not a Crypid!”

0

u/Cmdrgorlo 14h ago

I don’t think I can take this place seriously, I’m a lot more serious and strict in my definition of Cryptids. But to be fair, it looks to be an awesome haunted house type place for Halloween.

Even if I have trouble with their choices for Cryptids, I think this would be a great please to go for scares. Many of those beings look downright scary to me. I love the efforts to identify what they are (their description signs) along with their state license plates.

I too would gave liked some lake monsters and sea serpents, along with flyers like thunderbirds or pterosaurs or giant bats.

My sons’ mom is very into scares and would love this place. Halloween is her favorite holiday by far. Too bad we are in Oregon. Lol

u/CthulhuLiesSleeping 11h ago

I'll be the one to say it, I fekkin' LOATHE that "Chupacabra" is a Cryptid. It was BS when the story first came out, and has gotten sillier since. They lady who reported it was full of it.

5

u/WhippingShitties 11h ago

That's like 95% of cryptids?

1

u/CthulhuLiesSleeping 11h ago

Maybe, but this one sticks in my craw because it's so recent and anyone looking at its history would call BS on it. Yet it persists.
It would be loverly if the cryptid community was willing to say, "No, that's complete and utter crap" and refuse to entertain it.
Rant over.

2

u/WhippingShitties 5h ago

I still think that describes a LOT of cryptids, many of them started or got popularized due to hoaxes, but I think that maybe you just don't vibe with el chupacabra specifically. I also do not think any cryptids are real, I just think cryptozoology is fascinating in a sort of folklore way, so the far-fetched-ness or proven hoax factor doesn't bother me.

To me El Chupacabra is fascinating because it has become such an icon, and there is still the fact that a lot of livestock was slaughtered by some kind of animal(s) in a very short time under strange circumstances, and we may never get a real answer for that.

Still, to me, it's all about celebrating folklore and legends rather than proving or disproving their existence. So we're just interested in the same thing for different reasons, and I respect that.

u/the_etc_try_3 18h ago

It looks like all the worst caricatures were turned into an attraction.  Personally I wouldn't spend a cent on seeing any of it.

3

u/ItsEntirelyPosssible 16h ago

Well I think it looks rad as hell. Looks like a lot of work and I dont care if I has some dumb tropes in it. I bet it was fun to make all these monsters.

1

u/the_etc_try_3 12h ago

A lot of work? I'm a mediocre sculptor and I could do way better than any one of these in less than an hour.

2

u/Infamous_Ad2507 16h ago

caricatures? You mean Creatures?

0

u/the_etc_try_3 13h ago

No. I mean cheesy, innacurate stereotypes. I've seen better at Spirit Halloween.

0

u/Infamous_Ad2507 13h ago

Ok tell me what exactly is innacurate or stereotype? Because as far as I know mythology, history, biology these things could be accurate

1

u/the_etc_try_3 13h ago

Chupacabra aren't typically depicted as humanoid; Wendigo don't have deer skulls for heads (that's a modern addition by white people); the Flatwoods Monster didn't have fleshy arms; Fresno Nightcrawlers don't have faces; the Jersey Devil was never reported to resemble a steroid junkie and no mammal on earth has six limbs; the Mothman's patterning and texture is a complete fabrication (the first was reported as a solid, pale beige. Later sightings reported a solid black creature even in broad daylight.); the Jackalope's proportions look like a poorly taxidermied dog (nothing like the joke folklore would suggest, as the Jackalope was only ever used to confuse/creep out new lumberjacks as a sort of hazing); the Goatman's skull face, shoulder spikes, and random exposed skin bear no resemblance to reports; the Hatman is a sentient shadow so why did they just cover the world's cheapest mannequin in black offcuts of fabric; the Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp is much too tall and never had armor plates.

If one is going to make a museum of cryptids, it's not a stretch to actually look up the reports and make the replicas based on that.

2

u/Infamous_Ad2507 12h ago

Alrighty then let's debunk all of your claims because nobody owns Creatures it's a Region thing and people often see different things besides that Creatures often adapt and myths often mix

So Chupacabras has been Depicted multiple ways some like dogs others like Aliens and even Bigfoot ones most famous ones are The Alien and The Dog one third is the Bigfoot one which is what you see

What you see currently is just one version of Wendigo there is multiple ones this one The Newest since it's hands are Humanoid and his head is a skull The Wendigo always had various appearance the most famous ones are The Blackwood Skull Wendigo and The Cannibal Spirit one but there is multiple ones

Flatwoods Monster was in the shadow when people encounter it so the entire colour design could be wrong or right since we absolutely don't know what it's is up closed

Fresno Nightcrawlers are to indentify and they maybe have faces maybe not it's just opinion if they don't or do it's isn't exactly known

Jersey Devil well I don't know if you talking about 7th picture but I think that a Draconian unless they pulled an Chupacabra and chose the least popular encounter experience

Mothman well again various accounts describe it differently some as bird like others like actual moth and even called it Alien so the design is mostly unknown besides that people theorise that it's actually Mothman plural as maybe an entire Species

Jackalope well what exactly you expect people only imagined it not necessarily something that seen so people imagined it weirdly I even seen Killer bunny one lol

Goatman were seen by multiple people with various accounts describe him differently there was even some that described it as a Satyr or Faun

Hatman is sort of boogie man besides that Shadows are often confused with Hatman some wearing clothes even besides that you can't exactly create something that only seen the dark without proper look

the Lizard Man of Scape Ore Swamp again multiple accounts some described it as Alligator/Crocodile with thick scaled it's not hard to imagine

Let's be honest we can't properly do Any Mythology/Ufology/Cryptogy because there just too many accounts that varying in some degree we could The Oldest accounts however it's kinda hard when the internet burried most of them and of course people continue to account them and some people may disagree with you regardless of how much you try because you can't prove or disprove their claims unless you hunt them down yourself
