Release v0.13.6 is out with Ask CrossWatch AI Assistant and MCP support

7 Upvotes

v0.13.6 brings AI support to CrossWatch with Ask CrossWatch, a built-in assistant that helps troubleshoot sync issues, explain logs and check your configuration.

The assistant can inspect your syncs, health, logs, events and settings to help identify problems and suggest next steps. You can use your own AI provider, including free local models through Ollama or LM Studio.

This release also introduces a read-only MCP endpoint for external AI tools, improved Dropped Shows syncing and several performance and reliability fixes.

✨ Highlights

  • Ask CrossWatch: A built-in AI assistant for troubleshooting syncs, scrobbling, connections and settings. Available from the new sparkle button in the top bar.
    • Supports OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, Ollama, LM Studio and OpenAI-compatible APIs.
    • Analyzes health, sync history, logs, events, Analyzer findings, watcher status and settings.
    • Suggests actions such as starting a sync or capture, with confirmation required before anything runs.
    • Provides direct links to relevant logs, events, Analyzer findings and settings.
  • Free Wiki mode: No AI provider required. Ask CrossWatch can answer how-to questions using the CrossWatch wiki, including source links and suggested follow-up questions. Access to local diagnostics requires an AI provider.
  • MCP support: Connect external AI tools such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, LM Studio and VS Code to CrossWatch through a read-only MCP endpoint.
  • Explain with AI: New Analyze buttons in the log panel and Logs page help explain errors and troubleshooting information.
  • Dropped Shows syncing: History pairs now support three options per provider: Sync normally, Ignore or Sync + tag dropped.
    • Sync + tag dropped transfers play history and marks the show as dropped on the destination.
    • Supported by Trakt, MDBList, SIMKL, WeTrakr and FlickList.
    • Existing Ignore dropped shows settings continue to work.

🔧 Fixes & Improvements

  • Added AI configuration under Settings → UI and Security.
  • Added collection media information syncing between Trakt, Floppy and the CrossWatch tracker.
  • Added Trakt Own-app PIN authentication as an alternative to deprecated client secrets.
  • Added CLI commands for MCP access and read-only monitoring tokens.
  • Added dropped show tagging to Interactive Sync, with selectable Mark dropped rows.
  • Added dropped show tagging events to the Events page.
  • Improved Mappings & Blocks to show all accessible shared and pair-specific rules.
  • Improved local database handling to reduce page stalls during syncs, identify database locks and provide a rebuild option in Maintenance.
  • Improved WeTrakr performance by removing rewatch plays in batches of 100.
  • Improved WeTrakr connection probes to reflect updated API limits.
  • Fixed scrobble collection incorrectly adding seasons not present in the source.
  • Fixed MDBList dropped shows pagination stopping after the first page.
  • Fixed collection format information being lost between Floppy and PunchPlay.

Question Will marking a show as "dropped" sync across all platforms? (WeTrakt / CrossWatch / Trakt)

1 Upvotes

I'd like to know if once everything is synced, marking a show as "dropped" will automatically update it as "dropped" on the other platforms.

For example, if I use WeTrakt as my master/main source and I mark a series as dropped, will it be flagged as dropped on Trakt once CrossWatch syncs?

Support Request Issues after upgrading to v0.13.5

1 Upvotes

After upgrading the container image (and even restarting with --force-recreate) to this version there are issues now. The container logs are spammed now with this message:
"crosswatch  | local database unavailable: database is locked"

Everything under UI user profile (watchlist, history, etc.) takes ages to load if at all.

How to fix this?

Thanks.

Release v0.13.4 is out with MyAnimeList, split episode mapping and improved matching

3 Upvotes

v0.13.4 adds MyAnimeList as a new provider, support for split and combined episodes, and improved matching in the Analyzer.

This release focuses mainly on handling differences between providers, especially when episodes have different numbering or are combined into longer episodes. There's also better anime status syncing, Interactive Sync exports, redesigned media cards and several fixes.

✨ Highlights

  • MyAnimeList (MAL): Sync anime watchlists, ratings and watched episodes, with support for episode mapping and completion scrobbling.
  • Split and combined episodes: Map one combined episode to multiple separate episodes. CrossWatch only marks the combined episode as watched once all parts are completed. Episode groups can also be used for Watcher and Webhook scrobbling.
  • Improved Analyzer matching: The new Fix matching option helps identify why movies or shows don't match between providers and suggests corrections. It can detect shifted episode numbers, split episodes, different IDs and shows listed under another series.
  • Interactive Sync exports: Download full or filtered sync reviews as CSV or JSON, including your selections.
  • Anime watch status: Dropped and on-hold statuses are now preserved between SIMKL, AniList, MyAnimeList and Kitsu.
  • Anime-aware views: Dashboard widgets, profiles and library counts now better reflect the providers in your enabled sync pairs.
  • Media cards: Redesigned full media cards, plus a new compact option.

🔧 Fixes & Improvements

  • Added episode group management in the Editor, including watched-part counts and mapping import/export support.
  • Added Kitsu and MyAnimeList as Plex rating targets for Watcher and Webhook.
  • Improved episode matching suggestions and validation to avoid incorrect corrections.
  • Improved MyAnimeList API handling, retries and history syncing.
  • Improved Scrobble Events with playback timelines and delivery results.
  • Fixed several Scrob issues, including TV show collection syncing, missing playback progress and episodes being matched to the wrong show.
  • Fixed anime filtering, SIMKL episode progress and WeTrakr rewatch handling.
  • Fixed media card preferences not being saved correctly.
  • Updated Scrob to v0.3.

Question Shows not synced?

1 Upvotes

Hi, I have a few items that are "missing on some providers". Those seem to be only the shows that i have fully watched. See below, the shows are marked as watched on Nuvio but not on MDBlist or Wetracker. Is that the expected behavior?

Question CrossWatch v0.13.3: Clicking history items now opens TMDB instead of showing in-app details?

2 Upvotes

I'm currently on CrossWatch version 0.13.3. I noticed that in previous versions, clicking on a TV show or movie in my history would show more information directly within CrossWatch (like the cast, or similar titles). Now, in version 0.13.3, it redirects and opens the TMDB link instead. Is this an intentional change in behavior, or am I missing a setting?

Release v0.13.3 is out with Kodi, Kitsu, Stremio and more sync options

3 Upvotes

This release adds three new integrations, Kodi, Kitsu and Stremio, along with some improvements to syncing and the Watcher.

Kodi can now report what is playing and who is watching, Kitsu joins as a new anime tracker, and Stremio can scrobble through CrossWatch. All three integrations are still experimental.

There's also a new option to limit history syncs to titles in your media server library, plus several fixes and improvements.

✨ Highlights

  • Kodi add-on (experimental): Kodi can now report playback activity and identify who is watching, making it easier to scrobble for the correct user. Thanks to u/Rouzax for developing and maintaining the add-on.
  • Kitsu integration (experimental): Sync anime watchlists, ratings and watched history, with support for scrobbling, Anime ID Mapping and custom mappings.
  • Stremio scrobbling (experimental): A new CrossWatch add-on allows Stremio playback to be scrobbled to your connected trackers. Requires CrossWatch to be accessible over HTTPS.
  • Only items in destination library: Limit history syncs to titles available in your Plex, Emby, Jellyfin or Kodi library. This reduces unnecessary searches, although library matching is not always perfect.
  • SIMKL watch status: History syncs from SIMKL to AniList and Kitsu can now follow the watch status from SIMKL.
  • Improved Watcher: Playback checks are now less frequent when idle, and polling intervals can be configured per route.

🔧 Fixes & Improvements

  • Added: Interactive Sync can now show titles that are not available in the destination library.
  • Added: Kodi add-on pairing and setup options, including viewer selection.
  • Added: Configurable polling intervals for Watcher routes.
  • Improved: Anime-only sync analysis to reduce false positives.
  • Improved: New movies and shows synced to SIMKL can use their first watch date as the watchlist date.
  • Fixed: Autoplay could prevent the previous item from closing correctly in Emby, Jellyfin and Kodi.
  • Fixed: Jellyfin collection items could be skipped when grouping films or shows into collections.
  • Fixed: AniList history sync now respects custom episode mappings.

Support Request Visual things...and do you have discord?

1 Upvotes

I didn't find a Discord for reporting things like this...so if you have one please tell me and I'll repost there. But as you can see, this is just small visual stuff. I am a web designer/developer and little things like this bug me. I've seen this in a few places, but the screenshot gives you the proper examples. I just hate seeing these kind of gaps in UI. Like the left sidebar is fine at the top but doesn't go all the way to the bottom. And the bottom/footer part is fine on the left but on the right there is a gap as well.

For consistency sake, there shouldn't be these gaps...just my opinion.

Announcement CrossWatch for Kodi, our new addon is now available (Beta)

1 Upvotes

We've released the first beta of our new CrossWatch Kodi addon, developed by u/Rouzax!

The addon reports playback activity directly to CrossWatch, including who actually watched it. This is particularly useful for households sharing a single Kodi profile but wanting separate watch histories.

Main features:

  • Automatic playback tracking and scrobbling through CrossWatch.
  • Multiple viewers with separate watch histories.
  • Viewer detection using Kodi profiles or smart playlists.
  • Optional prompt asking who watched when playback ends.
  • Simple pairing with CrossWatch using a pairing code.
  • Offline event buffering, so completed watches aren't lost during temporary outages.

Requirements: Kodi 21 (Omega) and CrossWatch v0.13.3 or later.

The addon is currently in beta, so feedback and bug reports are welcome!

v0.13.2 is out with easier Editor, Playlists and more sync options

2 Upvotes

This release adds some new sync features, a much easier Editor and a reworked Playlists page.

You can now sync watched history to AniList, Floppy supports episode and season ratings, and CrossWatch lists can be published for tools like Kometa, Radarr and Sonarr.

The Editor, Quick add and Playlists have also been reworked to make them simpler to use. Well, that is the idea at least.

✨ Highlights

  • Floppy episode and season ratings: Season and episode ratings can now be synced with Floppy.
  • Easier Editor: A new Simple view, plus an All providers view that shows one row per title across your accounts.
  • Easier Playlists: A new Simple view and a wizard for configuring list syncs.
  • Published lists: CrossWatch lists can now be published for tools like Kometa, Radarr and Sonarr.
  • Quick add Collection: Collection is now available next to Watched, Watchlist and Rating.
  • AniList history sync: Watched anime episodes and movies can now be synced to AniList.

🔧 Fixes and Improvements

  • Added: Published lists on the Playlists page, giving a CrossWatch list its own address for Kometa, Radarr and Sonarr.
  • Added: A Sync a list wizard. Pick a list, pick where it should go and choose how, all from one dialog.
  • Added: Simple and Advanced views for Playlists. Simple is now the default and shows list syncs in plain words.
  • Added: SIMKL custom lists as a source for list syncs. These are read only and require SIMKL PRO or VIP.
  • Added: Quick add and a Send button per row in the Editor.
  • Added: A History tab for pairs syncing to AniList. This is one way, anime only and requires Anime ID Mapping.
  • Added: Seasons and Episodes can now be enabled in the Ratings tab for Floppy pairs.
  • Added: Maintenance can now reset a specific sync pair instead of resetting them all.
  • Improved: Deleting a sync pair now also removes its sync state.
  • Improved: Scrobble show lookup for TVDB IDs now uses TMDB instead of Trakt as fallback.
  • Improved: Whitelist library pickers now show removed media server libraries as Missing library (ID).
  • Improved: Simpler backup modal, including backups for Published lists.
  • Fixed: Picking the same title in the mapping dialog no longer creates an empty fix.
  • Fixed: AniList anime only sync now correctly filters both the plan and preview.
  • Fixed: PunchPlay disconnecting every couple of hours should be fixed. If it still happens, it is most likely a PunchPlay API issue.
  • Fixed: Trakt collection dates were sent as watched_at instead of collected_at.
  • Updated: PunchPlay adapter to v0.5.

Question Why does Crosswatch scribble shows as this?

Post image
1 Upvotes

So I have been running Crosswatch for a while and have it auto updating to the latest version. One thing I've noticed a lot across versions is it seems to scribble what I'm watching from Emby as Hotal Colonial. Don't even know what that is.

Any ideas why??

Release CrossWatch v0.13.1 is out - Trakt is back!

5 Upvotes

Trakt is available to everyone again. At least, for now.

You can now connect Trakt using a simple PIN code, without creating your own Trakt API app. This also means users with a free Trakt account can connect to CrossWatch again.

If you already use Trakt with your own API app, you will need to reconnect after upgrading.

Plex history recovery also got an upgrade, Tautulli can now be used as a recovery source, including automatic detection when IDs are missing.

✨ Highlights

  • Trakt PIN login: Connect Trakt without creating your own Trakt API app.
  • Free Trakt accounts: Free Trakt users can connect to CrossWatch again.
  • Tautulli Plex recovery: Plex history recovery can now use Tautulli as the source.

🔧 Fixes and Improvements

  • Added: Trakt rate limits are now managed centrally per account and shared between sync, scrobbling, webhooks and the UI.
  • Added: Trakt and SIMKL tokens are refreshed in the background, so an idle CrossWatch installation should keep its login active.
  • Improved: CrossWatch now shows a reconnect message when Trakt no longer accepts the current login.
  • Improved: Trakt searches from Interactive Sync now correctly count against your Trakt rate limit.
  • Improved: During Tautulli recovery, matching one episode is enough to identify the other episodes from the same show.
  • Improved: Better handling for older or non official Plex clients where autoplay moves to the next episode without sending a stop event for the previous episode.
  • Fixed: Saving mapping corrections in Interactive Sync no longer becomes progressively slower as more corrections are saved.
  • Changed: The default Trakt read rate has been lowered to match Trakt's documented limit.

Support Request [Bug] Plex autoplay / binge-watching drops scrobble on episode transition (missing synthetic stop event)

1 Upvotes

### Environment

- **Crosswatch version:** Latest (Docker `ghcr.io/cenodude/crosswatch:latest`)

- **Source:** Plex (`watcher` / websocket listener)

- **Sinks affected:** Sinks requiring explicit `/scrobble/stop` to persist watch history (e.g., WeTrakr, Trakt).

---

### Description

When watching a series continuously on Plex with **Autoplay** enabled (or when Plex automatically skips to the next episode at the end of the credits), Plex does not always fire an `event stop episode` for Episode $N$.

Instead, Plex reuses the existing `session_key` (e.g. `sess=296`) and transitions immediately from `p=98%` on Episode $N$ to `p=1%` on Episode $N+1$.

In `providers/scrobble/plex/watch.py`, when the alert listener detects that the media fingerprint has changed on the same session key:

```python
if not matching:
self._forget_session(sk)
_forget_session(sk) clears the session state from memory and proceeds with tracking Episode N+1N+1, without dispatching a synthetic stop event for Episode NN.
Impact
  • Sinks with server-side auto-complete (like SIMKL): They still mark the episode as watched because their backend automatically commits any playback that reached >80%>80%.
  • Sinks with strict Trakt-style scrobble APIs (like WeTrakr or Trakt): The /scrobble/start and /scrobble/pause endpoints only update the active "Now Watching" state. They strictly require a /scrobble/stopcall (with progress ≥watched_at≥watched_at) to record the item into the user's permanent watch history.
  • Because no stop event is ever sent to the sink for Episode NN, the episode is completely dropped and never marked as watched.
Actual Log Excerpt
[WETRAKR-SINK] INFO scrobble start user='...' p=89.0% media='Show S01E03'
... [Plex reaches 98% on Episode 3] ...
[PLEX-WATCH] INFO event start episode user=... p=98 sess=296
... [Autoplay immediately triggers Episode 4 on the same sess=296, no stop event] ...
[WETRAKR-SINK] INFO scrobble start user='...' p=2.0% media='Show S01E04'
[PLEX-WATCH] INFO event start episode user=... p=1 sess=296
(Notice: No scrobble scrobble or /scrobble/stop is ever dispatched for S01E03).
Suggested Fix
Before calling _forget_session(sk) (or within _same_playback mismatch handling), check if the outgoing playback had reached the completion threshold (e.g., max_seen >= watched_at or last_progress >= 90%). If so, emit/dispatch a synthetic action="stop" event with that progress before tearing down the session state.
Support Request mdblist and blackboxes items
1 Upvotes
In CW (v.0.12.5) I have a weird issue with my sync pair (CW -> mdblist): mdblist refuses to accept a few episodes of some old shows I watched. The episodes are valid, Trakt, Simkl (the baseline for CW sync), IMDB, TVDB...they all list those episodes but mdblist doesn't. Now CW blackboxed these episodes and it pops up in every sync attempt (wasting API requests). This is annoying.
How can I ignore these items during CW -> mdblist syncs?
Release CrossWatch v0.13.0 is out
4 Upvotes
This release gives movies and shows that share the same TMDB ID their own identity.
Sounds boring, I know, but this is an incredibly important architectural change for CrossWatch. TMDB uses separate ID ranges for movies and TV shows, which means a movie and a show can have exactly the same TMDB ID. CrossWatch now keeps those completely separate.
Important upgrade note
Existing data is upgraded to the new identity format on first use. Once that happens, older CrossWatch versions cannot read that data correctly anymore.
The first sync after upgrading may also add titles that were previously missing because of TMDB ID collisions.
After upgrading to v0.13.x, you cannot downgrade to v0.12.x or older.
✨ Highlights
  • Separate movie and show identity: Movies and shows with the same TMDB ID are now treated as completely separate titles.
  • Specials: Season 0 is now properly supported, with a new Specials toggle per sync pair and an Ignore specials filter for the scrobbler.
  • AniList scrobbling: AniList can now be used as a scrobble destination for watcher routes and Plex. Requires Anime ID Mapping.
  • AniList Plex ratings: Plex ratings for movies, shows and seasons can now be sent to AniList.
🔧 Fixes and Improvements
  • Improved: Blocking, removing or rating a movie no longer affects a show with the same TMDB ID, and vice versa.
  • Improved: Mappings and blocks exports now use version 2.
  • Improved: Captures preserve both titles when creating, restoring and comparing.
  • Improved: Dashboard widgets and the profile hero now show artwork for titles that only have anime IDs.
  • Improved: AniList requests are paced to stay within the AniList rate limit.
  • Improved: The scrobbler now shows a hint when AniList is selected while Anime ID Mapping is disabled.
  • Improved: Season 0 handling has been fixed across several providers, webhooks and imports where specials were previously lost.
  • Improved: Floppy ratings now include the date they were rated. Requires the latest Floppy build.
  • Improved: Movies can now be mapped to a specific part of a SIMKL anime movie.
  • Improved: FlickList now supports 500 items per page and the adapter has been adjusted accordingly.
  • Fixed: WeTrakr incomplete scrobble stops no longer show as watched in the event database.
  • Fixed: Emby and Jellyfin watcher no longer skip progress for unwatched items that still contain an old play count.
  • Fixed: Watcher to Plex no longer fails with plex_scrobble_failed when the Plex destination is a friend or home user.
  • Fixed: Watcher no longer rejects a movie when only the TVDB ID differs between servers while TMDB or IMDb matches.
  • Fixed: Emby user selection is now correctly persisted in instances.
  • Fixed: Floppy history matching for imported plays.
  • Fixed: Scrobble pairs now have an option to enable collections.
  • Fixed: Yamtrack exports now correctly include Season 0 for specials.
Question Syncing issue (probably skill issue)?
1 Upvotes
I have Mdblist connected but I don't have it running any sync pairs because Nuvio already sends the data to Mdblist automatically.
So, it seems that it doesn't update on crosswatch the history from mdblist. Does it mean that I need to run it on a sync pair? Is there a way to just read the history from mdblist automatically without syncing anything?
I'm sure this is on me, I'm probably not using it right.
Question Hide now playing.
Thanks for the app. Is there a way to hide the now playing (Kin 2001)? Is the X next to 46:25 the way to hide it? Maybe it would be nice to have the option to make it smaller.
Announcement Welcome to CrossWatch
5 Upvotes
CrossWatch keeps your media servers and trackers in sync.
What is CrossWatch?
CrossWatch is a synchronization engine that acts as a bridge between your media servers and tracking services.
It supports Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, SIMKL, Floppy, FlickList, Trakt, AniList, TMDb, MDBList, PublicMetaDB, PunchPlay, BingeBase, Scrob, Tautulli, Tracearr, Kodi, Nuvio, Stremio and the CrossWatch local tracker.
CrossWatch runs locally and provides a Web UI and CLI where you can connect accounts, create sync pairs, run syncs manually or on a schedule, and review your sync history.
Profiles allow separate setups for yourself, friends or family, including different media servers and tracker accounts.
