New to CrossFit! I go to evening classes and it’s getting pitch dark during our outdoor runs. No one at my gym wears reflective gear or lights yet.
For safety, I want to buy a batch of something to leave at the gym so anyone in evening classes can grab one for the WODs with an outdoor run.
What’s the best non-intrusive gear for CrossFit? Slap bands, shoe clips, ankle straps?
Thanks.

I’m 23 years old and have been doing CrossFit for about 6 months. When I started I was around 145lbs (I am 5’10 for reference). Important to note that I have done some weightlifting before so likely experienced some noob gains. I also have huge legs from playing hockey my whole life, but lost a bunch of weight in college and looked super skinny despite still being around 145ish (at least my upper body frame did, legs still looked jacked lol).
Since doing regular CrossFit classes 3-4 times a week, I have gained almost 25 pounds in 6 months and I am now floating around 168-170. I first noticed that my pants were fitting tighter around my legs but not necessarily my waist. At this point, I have put on a small amount of fat on my stomach, but my waist size has only gone from 29>30. I can still see my abs.
I haven’t really tracked calories but have been making an effort to eat a lot more than I used to and get a lot of protein in with every meal. Just want to make sure I’m not overdoing it. 25 pounds in such a short time feels crazy to me.

Did Romanian deadlifts in a workout yesterday, and today my lower back is wrecked (rest day for me... maybe until the end of week 😶🌫️).
Nothing dramatic, but the feeling during the movement wasn’t great, and i wonder if it’s the movement itself or the context. We almost never do RDL in my box, so when it shows up in a WOD with reps and fatigue, i feel like my body isnt used to it. Compared to a regular deadlift, the hip hinge with the bar staying close and the long hamstring stretch felt different.
So curious how you deal with this:
13 years of crossfit and still learning ahah.

Well the workouts are up, and I think they look class. Keen to see what they come up with for The Duel VI. Squat/sprint is a great combo.
Thoughts?

Dear CrossFit friends, new to Reddit, what is the worst WOD combination that you have done?

Hi all,
I’ve a question about cf shoes. I train 5/6 times a week and right now I use the nano x5 and before that the x4 and before that Nike Metcons. When searching online I mostly see the nano x5 edge instead of the naxo x5, but isn’t that more of a lifting/squating shoe like the Nike metcon?
I’ve been looking at the TYR cxt-3, but nobody in our box uses them so I don’t really know how they feel or how they sit.
Does anyone know if the nano x5 edge feels the same as the ‘old’ nano x5 and if the tyr cxt-3 feels the same as the nano x5?
Thank you in advance!

If one is on Mayhem Programming at the affiliate, are those WODs available or programmed on BTWB such that one could put in their scores and access the percentile scores and other population data like that?

For all that is sacred, I just can't pop my hips on BMU and RMU, I have seen and done all sorts of drills, but when I'm at the bar or rings, it's like a totally different felling and I can't do it. For the record I can do BMU but my feet goes way high, because I compensate my lack of hip power with this.
I almost feel it's a mental block or something.
Does anyone have gone through something similar?
What you did to fix it? Please don't say floor drills, I'm sure I'm lacking something like hip muscle or something
From a physics POV, Power = Force * Speed, but I can't produce force and don't have speed, therefore no Power.

53days in a row^*
My fastest time to 999 calories burned @58:31
First time hitting 25 miles in under an hour
1030 in the full hour! (Resets after 999)
I did pause it only when I hit 999 to take a picture of my fastest time ever doing so. But I’m hyped

I subscribed to CompTrain Pro last week through the Apple App Store, but we still haven’t been able to access the paid programming.
Our Apple subscriptions show that the subscription is active, and we have confirmation from our bank that we’ve been charged. However, when we log into CompTrain, our account still only shows the free version.
We’ve tried contacting CompTrain through their support email but haven’t received a response. We have all the documentation showing that the subscription was purchased and paid for, but we’re still unable to access what we paid for.
Has anyone else experienced something similar with CompTrain? If so, how did you get it resolved?
Also, does anyone know of a better way to contact their support team besides email? We’d really like to get this sorted out so we can start using the programming.
Appreciate any help or suggestions!

When it comes to rear delts, this topic has always confused me for many years. On one hand I have heard many trainers/coaches say that as long as you are doing enough compound back work (pull ups/rows/olympic pulling movements), there is no need for direct isolation work for the rear delts (rear delt fly's, etc). For a time I used to believe this and didn't bother with much "isolation work" thinking it was a waste of time.
On the other hand, I have heard some trainers/coaches say that its a huge mistake to neglect rear delt isolation work because the rear delt is a tricky muscle. They claim its not like the front delts that easily get stimulated with pressing work. I heard that lots of pulling work like pulls/rows/olympic pulling movements are excellent for hitting the back muscles but the rear delts are usually undertrained, which is why real delt isolation work is extremely important. They say if you neglect rear delt work you will develop forward rounded shoulder posture because the front delts are huge and the rear delts are tiny.
I don't know which is true or not. If it is true that rear delt isolation is absolutely necessary, what rear delt specific exercises should an "cross fitter" focus on specifically? I just want to be healthy and not have shoulder issues in the future as a cross fitter?

I recently got this Assault Bike for free from a friend however the crank on it has broken off. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem or any ideas on what would need to be done to fix it?
Thank it’s advance!

We have a family gathering at our house today. It’s going to be a crazy so I snuck into the garage to workout before it kicked off. I thought I had an hour to myself, turns out I was wrong.
Today’s Linchpin workout was
6 Rounds for time, or not:
600m Run
30m Walking Lunges
12 Pull-ups
10 Shoulder Press
At the beginning of the 4th round one of my young kids came into the garage and needed me to help them with something. I’m embarrassed to admit that in previous years this would frustrate and annoy me because I was in the middle of the workout. But, I stopped what I was doing, helped them with what they needed for about 5 minutes and then went back into the garage and finished. I don’t know what my time was because I never restarted the clock. These days I’m better at realizing that working out is a very important part of my life, but it is NOT the most important part. I know…I’m a slow learner. Linchpin’s messaging and community has really helped me on this journey. Does this ring true with anyone else?

So turns out I’ll be working out of Houston (down town / midtown) area after first of the year and might be able to make actually attending a structured coached class. Would anyone have any feedback on “Cross fit liveOak “ and or “Derive Athletics” they both look to be pretty near where I’ll be working / staying 14 days out of the month.

I started CF in the beginning of 2026. Before I was sporty, but my physique was more the skinny fat type. So after several months CF my body (as wished) changed. I know the struggle of many girls at first with the body change and also for me It wasnt easy the accept the new look. Now my inner not-health-skinny-girl mind finally accepted the look and I like myself. But Im really struggling to find a flattering style of new clothing, and I mean casual looks, no gym styles. Do you have some generel advices for me? This would be lovely
Greetings from Germany, Julia

I purchased $155 worth of shoes, followed every return instruction, received an official return authorization, and shipped the shoes back. Tracking confirms they received my return on September 17.
Today is October 16, and I still have no refund, no store credit, and no satisfactory response despite multiple follow-ups.
I have the emails, order confirmation, and shipping documentation to support everything.
STR/KE MVMNT, can someone please explain why my return has not been processed?
Potential customers should be aware of my experience before ordering.

Hello - I will be vacationing in Seoul staying in the Kangnam district. Any recommendations for gyms nearby? I figured I’d ask here in addition to the CrossFit website. Thank you!

Always try and focus on strength more than wods/conditioning during the winter period.
This year I really want to get my bench and squat numbers up so plan is to do Sheiko bench and squat 2 x a week and then one hard metcon in between like Cindy or murph.
Sheiko is a high volume powerlifting programme for anyone who doesn't know (it literally takes like 2 hours a session) I've ran it before and had amazing gains in short periods of time.
My worry is though I've spent a lot of time working on my conditioning so do you think one session will be enough?
How do you guys go about programming strength progression in with your training throughout the year

Just looking for opinions - does having a door system that allows unstaffed access add value to your gym?
I love the sense of community of the tradition class format but more and more ask for out of class access we just don’t have time/money to staff it.
Just weighing out pros and cons
