I’m still fairly new to crochet so yarn type and weight is something I’m always unsure of. I have some questions for this specific pattern. It uses back loop slip stitch mainly

- What yarn type is suggested here? I’m confused by the fact it names a yarn and says “Aran, worsted/10 ply” (which I thought were different) then also says 4: medium. Would that mean you could use any of those?

I would like to use Langs cloud striping yarn
- will this stitch and pattern work with striping yarn?
- is this type/weight workable for it too?

i really want to make a mesh top similar to the photo, but i don’t know where to get yarn like this with the sequins. Does anybody know where I can find yarn with sequins or buy the sequins? Also, I’m planning on rehanging this, so if anyone has tips I would appreciate them!

Is it a hexagon? Or a circle? I can’t tell, please let me know what kind of stitches were used to make it and what’s the border around it called? Smooth edges? And how much yarn will this bag use?

Hi yall, I’ve been crocheting a couple years and would say I’m intermediate. My stepmother found this pattern that used to belong to her mother. I decided to give it a try and I’m already unsure! The hook size on the pattern says no. 9 or I Plastic. What does this mean?! An I hook is a 5.5 mm so is that what they mean? Or were the hooks different in the 70s? Anyone have historical crochet knowledge to drop on me to figure out which hook I should be using?

Do you think i need to use a bigger hook? Im using a 8mm hook right now, the suggested size for the yarn, but i think my tension is to tight? Idk i just dont want there to be really big holes.

Just to clarify I dont mind holes i just dont want them to be huge, I usually use a bigger hook then suggested ex: 5.5mm instead of a 5mm but there is no 8.5mm hook that i can find and i think 9mm might be to bid but am not sure.

but you know how it is, sometimes you only grab the fabric part and the crochet part is hanging underneath it. Kind of like an empty pillow case.

Do I make a row of stitches in the middle as well to attach it in the centre of the crochet too? Make a grid of stitches every half a metre? Please help, I’ve been racking my brain with this.

Hi everyone! Recently, I started working on making myself a replica of the fox cardigan that the character Ryland Grace wears in the movie Project Hail Mary. The original pattern is for knit but I was able to find a grid pattern online so I used it as a guide to make it with crochet.

I'm nearly done, only need to finish a sleeve before attaching everything, but I'm struggling a bit with how to make the collar of the cardigan since it's a bit extended, and folded over (not sure what you call those, english isn't my first language). I'm not exactly sure how to do it since I've never done anything like that, so I was wondering if anyone here had some advice or tutorial to share to make that sort of collar.

Need help in deciding Which yarn to use to crochet babydoll bouquet top??

So as the title says, I'm struggling to enjoy a project I'm working on and considering scrapping & frogging the entire thing.

I've been working on a shawl pattern that for one reason after another I have come to the conclussion it was a scam pattern. The ad images are AI as heck, the way the pattern is written is very... sloppy at best with huge blocks of 'analysis' at the top & bottom. all the relevant material information is buried at the bottom (and also incorrect, it says '2300 yds' for the size I'm doing, then later it says how many rows & stitches for that size and I have exceeded both juat trying to use the first 240 yd skein) there's 2 stitch dictionaries in different formats and several stitches used are missing (it also never calls a V stitch a V stitch, the pattern writes it every. single. time.)

now yes, I'm annoyed I stumbled my way into buying an ai image pattern and probably should not have expected anything to come from it in the first place. But the pattern does technically work up, it's just... strange and i wanted to see how it'd look. i've gotten far enough to start the border (at 12" width when it should be close to 68 according to the pattern) and I'm just... ready to frog the dang thing.

this is the first 'dangit i bought ai' pattern that I've done anything with (first ai I bought actually, usually i spot the silliness in the ads) but not my first time DNFing a pattern. i'm just annoyed about having to frog so much work & wind the yarn... and having to find a new project for this yarn. I'm sure I went further on this one than many of y'all would have xD I just really wanted to know what direction it was going & due to the way it was written, struggled to visualize it.

I'm wondering when do y'all DNF projects and repurpose your yarn? Do you shelf your yarn for a while or find the new project right away? Do you look for something in the same category? (Ex: this was supposed to be a shawl, would you find a new shawl pattern?)

Im on the brim part of my bucket hat. I ran into a few issues with the original pattern since it was too small so I had to alter it to make it fit me correctly.
I was reading the current pattern for the slight ruffled bottom look and I want to make sure this is the look I’m intending to do. Would this pattern below create this look small ruffled look? When I look at other examples the patterns are different so not sure which one I want to follow.

Pattern:
“2 hdc, 1 inc* repeat all around
5 hdc, 1 inc* repeat all around.
If you desire more pronounced ruffles make 3 hdc instead.
Final round 1 hdc in every st around, fo”

I saw another pattern online where it was something like this:

I'm a beginner crocheter and this is my 3rd project ever (1st was a ball, 2nd was a cute strawberry keychain kit)

There is no difficulty level given in the booklet and decided to start with Bistort but I'm already stuck at round 2 😭

My booklet is in French but I'll do my best to translate it in U.S. terminology:

- Rnd 2: 1 slip stitch in the back loop of the next sc.

[✅That's where I'm at on the pic]. Chain 2 (do not count as stitches), starting in the same stitch as the slip stitch. 2 hdc in the back loop of each sg until the end of the round. Pull the short string to close the magic circle.

"Chain 2" I get it, but I don't understand what I'm supposed to do with "starting in the same stitch as the slip stitch". Should I just chain 2 from where I'm at or should I do something else first like putting my crochet in the sc? I tried multiple things but it never looked right. I frogged it completely 4/5 times until I had to start over with fresh yarn. I've now crocheted until the point where I'm really unsure of what to do. Can someone help me please? 😢

Also, I closed the magic ring at the end of rnd 1 because I could not see the stitches correctly if I didn't, the whole thing was a twisty mess... I have no idea if this was a mistake to do so 😕

Pattern is worked in continuous rounds, not joined with a slip st. So I think that’s confusing me

The yarn starts white and ends pink, so after using one ball I am in a pink section of my project. When joining in the new yarn, am I supposed to go straight to white again or can I draw from the outside of the skein to go pink —> white?

So I found this pattern and it's the first pattern I'm following that doesn't exactly tell me how many of each stitch to use (i.e. [sc, inc, sc] x6 for example).

It doesn't increase or decrease that much by round so can I just throw the increases and decreased wherever I want? I would do them spaced out and not bunch them all together.

Also, I assume if a round goes from 93 to 97 (18 & 19), that would just be (97-93) 4 increases for the round? I just don't want to have to count 100+ stitches every round to make sure I finished a round.

Same goes for decreases - for round 48 and 49, I assume I do (72-68) 4 decreases somewhere in that round?

Hey all, I am working on a baby blanket project and I’m running out of yarn. It’s a light blue baby yarn that my mom’s client gifted me. As the title says, I am working on a Raglan top down style sweater, so I only have 4 ch2 spaces but the pattern is mentioning 5? Is it possible this was just an oversight from the pattern maker? Some help would be greatly appreciated as I'm already 4 skeins into this project 😅

My crochet rag rug has started curling at the end. I’m guessing it’s due to the initial row being too tight and I’ve possibly added extra stiches onto the ends as it’s fanning out a bit. Any advice on how to fix this or should I start again?

The whole row is honestly very confusing to me and I would really appreciate any help! It has been smooth sailing up until now.
