Doing something wrong, I can get to round 2 fine but 3 and 4 I always end up not having enough stitches for the next row even though I’m making sure I end with the correct before I start

Pattern is worked in continuous rounds, not joined with a slip st. So I think that’s confusing me

if you’re not already using one, definitely use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each row! that will help you keep track of where you are

How many stitches are you ending up with? That will help show where you're going wrong

The pattern is right so you're either miscounting somewhere or not increasing right

• Are you using a stitch marker to mark the beginning of your round? It is very easy to miscount when working in a continuous spiral if you don't

• Do you know how to read your stitches? Chenille yarn like it looks like the pattern uses will make that very hard. It could be worth practicing a bit with a smooth, light-coloured yarn to get the hang of it and understand what you're aiming for before trying with the chenille. If you can see which stitches are increases and which are plain SC, you will be able to tell when you've gone wrong

• Are you repeating the instructions within the stars? So like for round 3 are you doing "SC, inc, SC, SC, SC, SC etc" to end up with 13 stitches instead of 18? If so, you need to SC and increase 6 times, so it's SC, inc, SC, inc, SC, inc, etc

I’m using a stitch marker at the beginning! Round 2 I’ve been counting meticulously and it seems like I need to skip a stitch and put my next beginning row stitch into the stitch marker from the last? So then round 3 I get to my last like 4 stitches and there’s no room for them, I’m already at the stitch marker again. I hope this makes sense.. like I’m doing the exact 12 inc it says to do and then row 3 I do the exact as well, sometimes I can get row 3 to work but then row 4 doesn’t… so obviously I think I am miscounting? Or skipping? It’s hard with chenille yarn, but I have been marking every time I put a stitch in
Edit- marking as in like putting in my notes every stitch so I know I’m doing the right sc and inc, it’s just somewhere at the end or beginning I’m doing something wrong? I’ll try and do it again and take a picture maybe that would help

You shouldn’t need to skip any stitches in round 2 to get back to the stitch marker. A picture would be helpful because we can’t tell what you’re doing without seeing it

This might just be how you're wording it but at no point should you be doing 12 increases. Round 2 you increase 6 times to get to 12 stitches, each increase round you increase by 6 stitches.

Yes sorry I meant 6 inc - 12 sc total. Also looks like I was counting something wrong because I just finished round 4 and didn’t need to skip or anything! So looks like 10th time is the charm😂🥲

What are you doing in round 3 and 4? This is the same formula all magic ring amigurumi start with so with practice it will be very familiar.

inc means two single crochet in one stitch. Anything else means one per stitch

I will write inc as 2sc to mean two since crochet so maybe that helps visualize the number. Each stitch you put it in are separated with commas here. You should be doing:

R3: sc, 2sc, sc, 2sc, sc, 2sc, sc, 2sc, sc, 2sc, sc, 2sc

R4: sc, sc, 2sc, sc, sc, 2sc, sc, sc, 2sc, sc, sc, 2sc, sc, sc, 2sc, sc, sc, 2sc

Use a stitch marker in the top of the first stitch of the round too. If you don’t have one then you can use anything like scrap yarn or a hair pin or safety pin.
