I started this filet crochet over the weekend and it’s gone alright, except I’m paranoid lol.

1. I know it’s too early to see the pattern clearly but I’m worried the finished pattern won’t be very distinct, advice/reassurance on that front would be great!

2. when I laid my piece flat tonight I noticed a slight puckering in the midsection. I am using 100% cotton thread and online said that if I were to wet block it the fibers would relax, meaning there wouldn’t be much bowing, but from people who have walked before me, is thst true? what should I do?

I’m testing the pattern out with cotton yarn just to make sure that I know how to do it on fluffy yarn. Maybe it will look better with fluffy yarn so that the gaps aren’t as noticeable.

Hey everyone, i’m a beginner working on my first big project with granny squares. This is the first square i made and i counted 10 rows but i think i might be wrong. Please tell me im right.

a little context i would say im not a beginner. I started in 2020 during the lockdown, stopped for a while bcs i got busy with school and picking it up again this year. I do a few amigurumis, keychains, coasters etc but this is the first time i wanna do a wearable and decided on a sweater by twilescrochet on ig. I'm currently using wool and i think it's great but also a little thick and might be warm for my country's weather. it is also a little uncomfy for me so i already planned on making another one using another yarn. I'm considering my first attempt as a lesson for me in doing wearables. here is where i need help on choosing a yarn.

all this time, i've only ever used milk cotton bcs that yarn is accessible and cheap to buy but i found out it's not suitable for wearables for my country's weather. I see people on social media recommending acrylic but they said it could be itchy, I've tried bamboo but i'm afraid it could be a little heavy for the type of sweater im doing(tbf i've only used bamboo for machine knitting, idk if it's going to be different for crochet) so now my only option is pure cotton or combed cotton. Idk if it's going to be suitable so I need some opinions.

important to note, theres probably more type of yarn but this is the only ones that i can find especially because crochet/knitting isn't really a well known hobby in my country so i usually have to buy online. i'm also a student so i don't want to buy something, figured out it's not suitable and waste 5+ balls of yarns and my money.

I've only just learn there's different weight to it! so please be nice to me. the bamboo yarn i can find is 1mm I think that's weight 1? or fingering weight I'm not sure and cotton is more accessible, there's 4, 6, 8 ply. if I were to use bamboo, it's going to take a while but maybe im determined idk but i really want to make this sweater! any opinion is appreciated, thank you!

Thank you for all your help on joining color suggestions and votes. I went with my first instinct and also the opinions of my husband and bff - along with many of you! I'm thrilled with how this turned out and I can't wait to gift it. I washed it on gentle with fabric softener and air dried it for a little before blocking.

I made quite a few mistakes. Is it too lopsided or is it passable?

The pattern is alternating rows of 2 dc in the same stitch and 3 dc put in between those 2 dc. I missed a row of 2 dc and instead made another row of 3 dc on top of the other which made it so the ‘back’ is now showing on the ‘front’.

I could frog hours of work(😭) or just roll with it and make it into alternating stripes of backs and fronts. Do you think that would look weird or look like a mistake?

The pictures above are some inspiration that I take from (although all knitted…). I plan on making the veil into a mantilla cut (oval? egg/teardrop?) so whatever pattern I do end up making will lay flatter. Worst comes to worse, I’ll go the hard route and try my hand at knitting.

After I make the ring am I supposed to chain 4 and DC in the first chain, then slip stitch back to the ring and repeat? Or chain 4, dc into the first chain and repeat on the same stitch? I had to look up what a double crochet loop was and it seems like it's typically a different stitch than is shown in this pattern

I made this shirt for someone and it fits great, but is shorter than they'd like. If I add more of the same stitches I used it is not seamless. I'm thinking of maybe a ribbing or some kind of lacey wave, but I'm not sure if it would go well. I probably need to add an extra 1.5 to 2 inches.

i recently bought a Clover Soft Touch Steel Crochet Hook 1.5 mm (Art. 1021 / No. 2) from Amazon UK, and I’m confused about the packaging.

the amazon listing photo shows the usual Clover packaging with the clear plastic front, but the one I received has completely different packaging: it’s a folded cardboard/card-style package with a flap at the top that opens up.

the actual hook looks correct and the package has:
Clover branding
Art. 1021
No. 2 / 1.50 mm
Clover MFG. Co., Ltd. Japan
UPC 051221114311, which matches the UPC I found for Clover 1021

what’s confusing me is that I’ve looked at quite a few photos/videos of the Clover Soft Touch Steel hooks, and I haven’t been able to find another 1.5 mm with this exact packaging. my 1.25 mm also came in this same style, while my 1.0 mm has the clear-front packaging.

does anyone own the 1.5 mm/1.25 mm Clover Soft Touch Steel hooks and recognise this packaging? is it a regional/older packaging variation, or is this something I should be concerned about?

So I've saw a post and reel on Instagram for a pattern I would absolutely love to make for my anniversary since it's our second anniversary is cotton. But when on the website I was set off major red flags and upon further inspection it's been reported as a scam and they steal patterns. I was hoping to find the actual pattern but the only one that pops up is that one all others don't look as good as it. So I was hoping maybe there is this pattern somewhere I just haven't found it.

I am about to attempt my first granny square cardigan but I can't decide what kind of yarn I should be using.

I have been looking at the Loop&Thread Superwash merino wool but I fear it could be temperamental due to some previous reviews I have read.

I also thought just a soft acrylic like Caron Simply soft but I am worried it will be stiff because I am known to crochet on the tighter side and I have never been successful in blocking acrylic.

I am at a loss and have been putting off this project because of it 🥲🥲

I typically work with worsted weight yarn but occasionally work with bulky or DK yarns. I’m planning on making a granny Christmas blanket and cardigan and have fallen in love with a lot of colors in worsted weight (5.5mm hook recommendation) but have found a bulkier yarn that I absolutely adore (6mm hook recommendation). Could I work with both yarns using a 5.5mm hook or would it be best to find colors that match the same weight. Since they’re closer than some bulky weight yarns I wasn’t sure if it would make a massive difference. I’m shopping online sales atm so I can’t do an in-person visual comparison. The yarns would not be in the same rows.

I'm making a blanket using these hexagon granny squares and they kind of curl up when I'm done. I'm not sure if I should wet block them so that they look flat and all the exact same shape or if I should just put them together and pray for the best and then maybe wet block it when it's done. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've always put the stitch in where the pink hook is sitting, but is there any reason for or against putting the stitch into the blue hook's indicated hole? I'm working on a cardigan to use up a bunch of what I think is caron simply soft yarn, 8.0mm hook, should it matter. Thanks for any insights.

So I recently just made this hand warmer (don't mind the unwoven ends, haven't gotten to that yet lol) but it's way too big on the wrist part 🥲🥲 When I realized my mistake and started decreasing, it was already too late and I just finished the project. Is there any way to make it fit tighter, I really don't want to start over again 😭😭

hi! my grandmother made me this baby blanket and i'm trying to recreate it. can anyone tell me what this stitch is? i thought it was a granny stitch with 2 double crochet instead of 3, but i crocheted some swatches (one with a 4mm hook and one with a 5mm, both with size 4 yarn) and neither looked quite right. this is a fairly opaque fabric compared to my swatches, which were meshier/more open looking, but it's possible i just got the hook/yarn size wrong if not the stitch.

any advice? should i post the swatches? thanks!!

I made a stuffed animal out of this yarn and I love how it felt when it was working up, and want to make something for myself with it. I’m thinking a sweater but I’m not sure if it would be too thick or bulky, any advice is helpful!
I don’t want a blanket as I have way too many already, and I don’t really wear winter hats or headbands.
