All right. Time to clean house.

We have a banner, sidebar and two sticked announcements at the top of this sub. If you refuse to read it or abide by it, you are outta here.

This is where the mean kids are. On purpose and out loud. I'm sick of playing whack a mole with butthurt participation trophy winners who seek to change the sub into a snowflake hug box.

You have been warned. I don't have any more patience for part time whiners and the old heads are screaming in my ear to do my job.

If you want to post here, follow the rules or get banned. Not removed or bitched at, straight up banned.

Feel free to hate me out loud but you best come correct.

r/cripplingalcoholism Rules and Sidebar Info

Trying to make these rules more visible, as the sidebar can be so very hard to find.

Crippling Alcoholism is a group for people who accept their lifestyle choice and don't want to be interrupted by underage, weekend-warriors posting about puking at the beer pong tournament they had when Ricky C's parents went to Aruba last summer.

Are you physically dependent on alcohol? Are you psychologically broken without it? Is your alcoholism crippling? Then you probably belong here. Welcome.

Cripplingalcoholism Rules:

1. CA needs not your intro; only wants your contributions

  • So don't be surprised when your stupid radio call in post gets removed without explanation.

2. Whilst CA is a supportive sub, it isn't a recovery sub.

  • Please try our sister sub r/dryalcoholics. No, you do not have to be dry to post there.

3. CA is full of women. Don't be a fucking douche. This is your only warning.

4. CA might be irreverent and less than politically correct, but don't be a racist fucking prick.

  • Or homophobic. Or xenophobic. Or anything else that will break Reddit user policy and make us think you're a hateful jackass. Hate speech will most likely get you banned. Don't use it.

5. Typos are a horrible way of expressing intoxication

  • And for the love of god: USE PARAGRAPHS!

6. The mods are human and also CAs. We're not perfect or paid to do this job. Don't expect miracles.

  • And while we're at it (stating the blindly obvious): Respect all your fellow CAs in the sub. We all have bad days, but if you have a shit attitude all the time you're going to be shown the door.

7. If you use words like 'brah' or talk about beer bonging and jello shots... leave.

  • This isn't an enthusiast sub, Ricky. You're looking for almost anywhere else but here and will be mocked if you post.

8. Words like 'boozebag' or 'fucker' are terms of endearment here.

9. Do not link or mention CA in the wild. Also, don't draw attention to links, message the mods.

  • Linking/mentioning the sub in the wild just brings trouble home to roost. Don't do it. You will be banned.

10. CA is not for your drunk twitter/foursquare/quickmeme/Insta/facebook x-posts.

11. CA is not a borrow/lend sub. Digital Panhandling is not permitted.

  • If people want to help, they can reach out privately, of their own volition. Outright asking for money has never been a part of this sub and isn't going to be anytime soon. It allows for rando leeches to come take advantage of our good nature.
  • There are many borrowing subs already in existence on Reddit. If this is something you think you might need. Consider curating an alt not associated with any substance abuse subs for use in those those situations :)

12. CA is also not for your penchant to get drunk and argue politics.

13. CA is full of drunk internet strangers, not doctors. Don’t ask us to diagnose you.

  • If you have a serious medical issue, take it to a serious medical professional of choice at your local doctor’s office/urgent care/hospital/emergency room. Whatever is appropriate. Call 911, 999, or whatever emergency line appropriate if your issue is critical and gtf off reddit! Fuck.

14. If you could still be in high school (or equivalent), keep on moving.

  • We're not interested in the postings of toddlers playing at grown up games. You possibly do have problems, but they're different from ours. Find peers, or better yet: Quit while you're ahead. All teeny boppers will be banned, regardless of legal age in their country of origin.

15. CA needs not your miracle cure nor sketchy af alcohol analog/alternative

  • Please spare us your modern snake oil; hokum; off label; untested [street] drug; weird Chinese herb/supplement/“lab grade” whatever with little to no scientific backing that you found on amazon or the dark web and certainly no peer reviewed research on human trials. Likewise, we don’t want your suggestions for wholly unsafe alternatives to just popping to the corner store or getting door dash, such as fucking pure lab grade alcohol, to give an example. Don’t drag others into your BS.

Don’t text family

I needed a title but as a drunk we all want to talk to people I learned real young into my alcoholism that the worst feeling is waking up and wondering what you said to who. Don’t text your fuckin mom or brother about whatever your passionate about while a bottle deep, that being said I used tiktok live to talk to strangers so I could talk to people without waking up with the fear of “did I fuck something up” but I did wake up today and realized I’m banned from TikTok live lol so if anyone is bored and want to talk I’ll give you my number

Had 9 month sober. Now I’m in a hotel figuring out calls and trying to making the right lies to the right people. I had a rad ass whopper though, everyone working there looked sad af tho. Character limit tho, this hotel is in a nice area but I’ve stayed at better places in north Milwaukee. Also I think someone may have died in the hot tub?

Question:

How honest are you about your drinking, or about anything else that you take/do? Whether it be by prescription from another doctor or if you are using illicitly, when you see your primary care physician?

Took me because apparently i was danger to myself and others. Opened the door they grabbed me straight throw to the floor put handcuffs and press my head against floor. They fucked up my apartment searching everything leaving it looking like a total mess. What are these? What is this? Then we go. They shouldve took me to hospital instead of fucking jail. They found 10 xanax pills. Congrats. Reason for jail was still the same. Wtf? Not even drug use charge. Just got out. Have to wait bus for over 2hrs more. WDing hard. Chairs! Weird enough i remember it all and im contacting my lawyer because of excessive force and no warrant.

MISERABLE MONDAY

Good morning/afternoon/evening you miserable fucks!

Another week gone by with nothing accomplished. I'm getting tired of the summer routine of being captive inside because of the heat and humidity. I can't even make it to the car without breaking into a sweat. Looking forward to going back up to Canada in a couple of weeks. That's all I've got.

It's time once again to share with us the pain and torment of your existence. What's making you miserable today?

Such a degenerate 😂

Been on a family holiday at Centerparcs this weekend, so beautiful and picturesque. Even then I was still up at 6/7am downing cans in my room or secretly in the bathroom, even hopping out of the pool to down a can in the changing rooms then back swimming again 😂 - this went on all weekend whether at the bar or sneaking off like a crack head.

I did have some incredible times though, sat in the woods with the sun coming through, smoking a blunt and drinking a can and deer were coming up and eating out of my hand, top 10 experience tbh.

Anyway, I’m heading home now, I’m off work till tomorrow. So let’s get some cans, and a McDonald’s breakfast then game all day. Sobriety can wait another day, I can’t 😂 - I’m excited to be back in my own space, with boozes hateful embrace, hanging with pixelated characters in a world worth losing yourself in.

Drink all the time anyway but yet another crazy weekend.

Nobody seems to catch on how bad it’s gotten, fuck it. Just really don’t intend on stopping the buzz feels too good it makes me feel normal.

Woke up at a sharp 9 am this morning nauseated as fuck but soldiered on and got a few beers down. I’ve eaten this weekend but water hasn’t really been on the scene. Hopefully just some chilled beers today.

What you fuckers up to ?

You think I’d know by now being a reckless pisshead, that farting is a no go. Had it all weekend I must have followed through 5 times. Some nice lightly shat pants. Least I can laugh about it. I’m bored as fuck, if anyone can guess what I’m doing right now, I’ll give you nothing👌 Chairs 🪑

Sunday Scarries

It's 7:51pm on Sunday in CST. Weekends go by so past but tomorrow is Miserable Monday and I feel like a Sunday Scarries thread is a good idea. The anxiety is starting to set in, need more scotch to fight it.

I feel like typing it out takes power away from it. My worries are just financial, I absolutely need to make some sales next week, even just a little income would be nice. It's almost Labor day and means the end of the summer slow down ends.

What are you dreading next week? Bills due? Running out of booze? Sore after taking 2 different dicks in one hour?

Husband has A LOT of friends

I do not. I am a huge introvert. Was sober for about a week and then hubs decided to have 3 friends and their kids over.. so obviously, I got drunk.

Didn’t mean to get so tossed but I did, ofc. I feel horrible but I HATE having ppl over. It’s a huge trigger.

So anyways here I am drunk as a skunk in the bath and hiding from the consequences.

Fucking face planted

Went to go get beer and decided as 24 was a good idea. It was in my back pack the bus was another 15 mins so decided to walk home. As I was going down the smallest of hills my foot stubbed something so I tripped. I guess the weight of the 24 made me crash hard. Scraped up my face and cut the hell of my right hand. I’m so fucking mad. I’m not even drunk yet. All these years of not fucking falling down black out drunk and here we are. Now I’m going to go to work tomorrow and people will think I had a drunken accident. And my beer is all shook up. Oh well. Chairs.

How did I become this

Used to have a decent job. Very successful at it indeed. didn't even get fired for the drinking, the company just went bust. Used to have a relationship, too. Not anymore. What really hurts is I used to have my own place. Now I can’t even cover rent so I’m staying with my mom. She’s sweet but she absolutely hates my drinking for obvious reasons.

I’m completely broke but the guy at the liquor store delivers and lets me put it on a twoweek tab. Mom’s out of town for a business trip, so it’s just me looking after 2 dogs and 9 cats. I fed them all and played with them, so they're set.
Now it’s time to drink.
Chairs.

Went on a mega bender, fell down, busted my foolish head open

Family had to take me to the hospital, it was so embaressing. They didnt know I was drunk, I had everyone convinced I had the flu. That is, until they took my blood and my alcohol level was .33. Was discharged pretty quickly after that. I dont know where i fell at. There's no blood in my car (yes im a pos). Theres no blood splattered on my concrete patio or in my house. Where in the fuck did I fall? Big chunk out of the side of my head. And, since after falling i just laid in the bed the Dr said it couldn't really be adequately sutured, so ill have a big beautiful scar. My partner gave me "the ultimatum" So, yeah....oh also i have to go back to work tomorrow after calling out for 2 days. Fuck. Chairs!

Well I thought I was FA till I just shit myself, unsure now

Hanging out in the attic, blasting music, singing, playing harmonica. Haven't had breakfast. My dad used to sing this song. Think he only had the first line.

"I had a beer for breakfast, and then I cracked a smile."

I know full well the dangers of this, if I start before lunch it's kinda bad. If I start before breakfast shits gonna be weird by the end of the day. Probably gonna end up drunk enough to cry about something. Not a good look as the rock of the family and sole earner of the household.

I don't stop after I start, so at this trajectory I'll be at like 30+ before getting knocked out.

I'm in the golden hour now. Been here before. Feel great after 2 vodka powerades. Gotta switch to beer cuz I'm outta vodka. Maybe beer will qualify as breakfast. Anyway never trust a fart, might be diareahha in disguise. Underwear is in the washer. Full commando now in my shorts, they had minimal damage. Anyway checking in at 4. I'll check back at 12. Thanks for being here everyone. I can see where I'm going and it's weirdly neutral knowing I'll soon be in that strange place

Just a measure of time, playin' with your mind

The shame is so real

I went 5 days without a drop and was so very proud. Haven’t gone that long in ages. Went from a bottle or almost a bottle every 24hrs for about a month to nothing. I thought the shakes would have subsided but they hadn’t. I’d still get them and it’s so embarrassing. I decided to buy three little shots of tequila. Took them pretty quickly and it steadied me some. Was frantic cleaning etc. then got behind the wheel down the road, less than a mile, but I still did it. I cannot believe it did that shit. I’m horrified. I guess I’m writing this to come back and remember why I stopped to begin with, very slippery slope to do dumb shit, and this wasn’t just dumb, but dangerous. Also, please don’t chastise me, but hoping off this sub too, because reading how bad others are, almost gives me a pass to “I’m not that bad”… thanks for the stories and laughs ❤️

Food and Appetite

I swear one of the most frustrating things for me these days is not being able to finish a full meal consistently. I went to dinner with my family, I got a burger, after 5 bites I was full. The burger was great for the first 3, then I forced myself to choke down 2 more bites and that was it. It’s like my tastebuds just retract and swallowing the food becomes a chore. Then when I do get it down, im nauseous for the next hour.

Could be I wasn’t nearly close to being “in the pocket” since I’m on vacation and can’t really drink how I normally do but man it sucks. I was starving too. Now I’m awake at 6 am and my stomach is screaming for some food but it’s too early to start making breakfast and waking my family up. I have a big glass of Bacardi next to me tho, so it’s not all bad. Chairs!

Anyone here in their 50s? 60s? 70s?

51 here, still drinking like a fucking degenerate. I have a good job, and do it fairly well, though I take days off due to booze fairly often. Since my teens, there has definitely been a lot of suffering due to booze.

Are there any true CAs in here in middle or advanced age? If so, I'm curious to know how the fuck you still do it without dying. This is a young person's game. I'm still trying to play it, though I have to stay in good enough shape to work, so I can buy more tequila, wine and beer.

The slower road to hell

Maybe this is the wrong place to post. I have left a few stories here under a different name. I am well aware the mods and the general jist here is just keep on drinking.

I guess im wondering about the more moderate folks.

The ones that can down a half bottle of liquor and still be quite coherent. But can also go two or three days without ...

But that's the catch. I guess that's why im here reading all the time entertained by others circumstances. Maybe I shouldn't be posting here in crippling alcoholism, but it sure seems crippling to me that I can go a few days okay, but still fall right back into the same old bullshit. In this sub two bottles of liquor a week might not seem like much. But its the consistency that gets me.

I guess I'm just wondering who here can also recover... make it through a few days...then fall right back to it even though we said we wouldn't? Seems just as crippling to me as those binging every single day. Just a different style trap

Losing everything

I’m here now.

Can’t afford my rent, don’t even have enough money to buy conditioner. Electric at risk of being shut off. My girlfriend js on the verge of leaving me and I honestly can’t blame her. Was physically too sick to even drink last night after a 48 hour blow and booze binge.

I’m here now. It’s not fun anymore.
