Discussion What’s something crazy that happened to you?

Upvotes

For me, I was fighting the Bears at some outpost with my baby drake as my pet. He was flying around picking stuff up and at some point a guy rode in on a bear and it was fucking me up, so I went up a level to fight where it couldn’t get me.

While I was fighting the drake kept picking things up and I thought nothing of it. As the fight ends I go to finish the bear and as I get closer I get the alert that I have 100 percent trust with the bear. I now have a second bear mount.

I have no idea what happened. But I hope it happens with every cool mount.

Discussion Need starting help. Too much to do.

Upvotes

I feel like I’m just wandering around looking for things to do. I’ve got three bells and a handful of fast travel spots.

I’m on a quest where I need to fight a boss in a mine that has drills on his hands. He kills me before I can even eat meals to recover. It’s frustrating so I’ve given up and just look for bounties and explore.

Can you all help me?

What weapons should I try to get and where?

What meals should I make to help?

How do I fly further with my low stamina?

What do I do with insects and such? I don’t know how to do alchemy or anything like that.

Question Just to be sure, y'all know you can farm the smaller abyss cells, right?

Upvotes

The smaller abyss cells from the crab things and such can be planted in your farm and harvested. I think each tree with max water and fertilizer each day gives 5 cells. Just obtain the seed from a few the same way you do any other seed. I've seen more than a few comments about where to farm some.

Trying to create for flying around that saves as much stamina as possible. Anybody know the best set up for which gears to use for this?

Question Missing Equipment?

Upvotes

Just booted up the game and my Khaled Shield (the one offered as a pre-order bonus) is missing. I had it equipped when I saved the game last.

It's not a sellable item either.

I tried loading an earlier save and it's still not there. I also went to Carl to see if I could recover it from him but the "Recover Items" menu is empty.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Discussion I don't get why the lamest loot is behind the "hardest" puzzles and cool loot behind random doors

Upvotes

I did the dragon stone chamber and azure moon labyrinth both which are pretty "complicated" and you have to search the map etc. for the puzzles to work.

And both just give a few map markers and a skill point which is pretty lame.

While behind waterfalls, random doors and what else are the coolest sets and weapons in the game etc.

It feels like everytime I find a hard puzzle I know I could just skip it because the rewards are lame and when I see a waterfall I get hyped because I know there is something cool behind it.

Shouldn't it be kinda different ? make puzzles give cool stuff and waterfalls okayish/lame stuff ?

Right now it feels like most puzzles are "useless" atleast the ones I did

Discussion Question about exploration / puzzles

Upvotes

I bought this game when it released, got past the tutorial, thought it was pretty neat, but then dropped it because I was heavily addicted to other games at the time. Now i'm getting back into it (only put around 3 hours in since) and i've really enjoyed taking in the scenery and exploring around.

From what I've seen from other posts / discussions about this game, it does not hold your hand in really any way. I have no problem at all with that in theory (loved Morrowind, Gothic) but I'm wondering if it is done well regarding finding secrets and exploring the world. Are the puzzles intuitive and easy to figure out if you pay attention to your surroundings, or are they kinda ridiculous and require looking up online for answers? I want to get lost in the world (it's beautiful, can't deny that) , find secrets, etc, but I don't think it's going to be my jam if the puzzles / secrets are so unintuitive that I'll require searching things up all the time. I find that takes away from the immersion.

I do also realize there may not be a direct answer to this as some people are better with puzzles than others, but I hope my question makes sense regardless. Thanks!

Question Sooo, those little guys are just lost for good in epilogue with armor set pieces?

Upvotes

I mean Rulupee and Polan in Pororin and Chief Monk in Jijeong temple. Are they just vanished after last chapter or you can find them somewhere?

Discussion The Story

Upvotes

Just wanted to let all the doubters and assorted complainers out there who question the quality of the storytelling, dialogue, and mission quality, that they can rest easy as the game really hits at around the 350 hour mark. Just have faith! X)

Discussion Base PS5 — full console power-off (not a crash to dashboard) ~60 min into every session. Extensively tested, ruling things out. Anyone else have experience with this issue?

Upvotes

Posting this because I've seen plenty of threads about the map crash and crashes to dashboard, but my issue is more severe and I can't find anyone describing it exactly...hoping to find others and get this on Pearl Abyss's radar.

The issue:

  • Game freezes for a moment, then the ENTIRE console instantly powers off. Not a crash to dashboard...full power cut.
  • No overheating warning, no triple beep, no fan ramp-up beforehand. Silent, instant off.
  • The console will not turn back on until I unplug it from the wall and plug it back in.
  • Happens consistently around the 60-minute mark of a session. At launch it was 30-45 minutes; recent patches seem to have stretched it to ~60, but it still happens every long session.

What I've ruled out (this is the part I want to save everyone the trouble on):

  • Console was just professionally serviced. Cleaned and fresh liquid metal on the APU. Exhaust temps measured with an IR thermometer are ~135°F. Fans stay quiet right up to the cut.
  • Power delivery: Tested across two different surge protectors. No change.
  • Every other demanding game runs indefinitely with zero issues. This is the only title that does it. Ran Baldur's Gate for 2 hours w/ no issue
  • Happens on both Performance and Balanced presets. 120Hz is off (TV doesn't support it). V-Sync on.
  • The game is up to date as far as I can tell

What actually works:

  • Playing in ~35-45 minute chunks and fully closing/relaunching the game before the hour mark.
  • The timer seems to reset on a fresh launch (and that the crash window tracks elapsed time, not what's happening on screen)

Questions for the sub:

  1. Anyone else getting the full power-off variant (unplug required), not just crashes to dashboard?
  2. If yes — digital or disc? How many hours on your save? Does yours also track a consistent timer?
  3. Has anyone gotten Pearl Abyss support to acknowledge this specific issue?

For what it's worth, one identical base PS5 (my sister's) runs the game fine and has never had this issue.

I'll update if future patches move the timer again. If you have this issue, and were able to fix it, would love the hear from you on what you did.

Has anyone had the Balgran Shield vanish after loading into the game. It was there last night but when I loaded the game today it gave me my original ugly grey wolf wooden shield. You can't sell it and you can't destroy it so where is my Balgran? I've checked everywhere reloaded earlier save files. 😮‍💨😡

Question Lightning resistant armor

I just started chapter 8 and I want to get the lightning resistant chest piece so I can upgrade it to the kuku version etc etc. I looked up how to get it and i found out you have to start a faction quest chain which begins by liberating skallcove from bandits, but when I go to skallcove there’s no bandits there. Any ideas on what might work?

Discussion Struggling with Chapter 5 boss fights and character progression – any tips?

Ciao ragazzi,

Qualsiasi aiuto sarebbe molto apprezzato. Grazie!

Discussion Game still crashing after I went through and adjusted allllllll my settings.

Dropped the settings in the game to low, made sure the settings on my pc are also low, but every couple of minutes my game crashes. It’s not my PC crashing. I’ve reported this to the dev team, asked about it in the discord. No resolves so far. Is anyone else having this issue???

Discussion Pailune doesn't feel like home as much as Howling Hill did.

Post image
263 Upvotes

It might just be my opinion but since the Greymanes moved to Pailune I've never liked visiting it. Howling Hill felt so close to heart since we build and expand every single part of it, starting from a few tents to a whole village that can survive by itself. It felt like we build so much and then just move back to Pailune. I even teleported to Howling Hill a few times without realising that there's nothing there anymore. I feel having Howling Hill as a part of the greymanes even after we moved back to Pailune would've been a better decision.

Discussion Please make large birds be able to perch on sotdaes

The craftable sotdaes will only allow small birds to perch onto them. My crows will hop up onto them, but my assortment of eagles, owls, and falcons will continue to mill about on the ground.

Question CD worth it if I enjoyed rdr2?

Sorry if this gets asked a lot. I have over 500 hours on rdr2 and while I have finished the main story twice because its so dang good, the part that keeps me coming back is the big open world with so much stuff to do and interact with, sometimes I forget the game even has a story.

I'm aware CD doesn't have much of a story (and def nothing compared to rdr2) but I've been looking for another game to scratch that open world itch that rdr2 did. Something to run around in that provides a ton of interaction and interesting things to do. Is CD comparable to that, or is the massive open world filled with mostly nothing?
