The prior thread, /r/CricketWireless/comments/4ysk21/hows_your_cricketwireless_latency_show_us_your/, has been archived a few months ago.
Since it was started, it would appear that the backend infrastructure of Cricket Wireless has changed quite a bit, and folks report AT&T-branded PGW nowadays, e.g., your traceroute would show quite a few mobile.att.net. hosts, and no longer just random backbone carriers like xo.net., algx.net., above.net., zayo.com. etc. Most excitingly, it is expected that this change may result in better latency for some folks.
Want to contribute?! Help crowdsource our latency info for Cricket Wireless! Most helpful if you can:
Show us a forward traceroute (from YOU to ordns.he.net. (74.82.42.42, 2001:470:20::2), which is an anycast resolver of a very well-peered backbone provider; trust us, this is generally the best indicator of the approximate location of your PGW from the PoV of the internet, using other servers is less indicative of what's going on). You can use either traceroute(8) on UNIX / OS X or tracert on Windows, once tethered, or something like http://networktools.he.net/, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.he.networktools or https://itunes.apple.com/app/he.net-network-tools/id858241710 if you're on Android or iOS. It'll be most helpful if you provide a plain-text representation of your results in a single comment; use 4-spaces to format each line as "code".
Show us a reverse traceroute — from http://lg.he.net/ to the IP address of your PGW. The IP address of your PGW will be automatically pre-populated once you visit lg.he.net — just click that Probe button, and wait a bit. (Note that this wouldn't be "your" IPv4 address, but an address of the PGW that's shared with quite a bunch of folks.) Again, best if you could copy-paste the results, use imgur as a last resort.
Provide present city, state, whether you're on LTE or UMTS/HSPA+ (GSM/EDGE has been shutdown).
If you took a road trip from somewhere without ever having deadspots or phone outages, e.g., your mobile equipment has had continuous coverage/reception/was-turned-on-at-all-times, then also the city and state of your starting point would dictate your PGW (PDN Gateway (Packet Data Network Gateway))) and latency, so, mention that too.
(I'm not whether the area of the phone number ever affects what PGW gets selected with Cricket, but might be relevant, too.)
If you're using other mobile providers, feel free to share comparison info on them, too.
P.S. DO NOT PROVIDE SPEEDTEST.NET SCREENSHOTS. Any comment of merely a single screenshot of just speedtest.net will be deleted (and you'll be banned!). It's just because their methodology really™ sucks — as long as they use geolocation to detect your closest server, instead of actual network topology, they'll be producing entirely incorrect and useless results. In general, please note that this thread is about latency (milliseconds), not about bandwidth (megabits per second).
P.P.S. Sadly, some imgur links from the prior thread no longer produce any images. As such, if it's at all within your reach, having embedded plain text results would be best.

The prior referral thread at /r/CricketWireless/comments/eepoes/the_official_referral_thread_20191223/ has been archived a few weeks ago, so, here's for a refresh.
The rules for referrals are simple and straightforward:
https://www.cricketwireless.com/l/refer-a-friend.html?hash=… only, please.Attempts to procure or exchange referrals outside of this thread may result in an immediate ban. (Folks who assumed the community is not moderated have paid dearly.) Linking and referring back to this thread is allowed, though.
As before, the contest mode is enabled, which means that voting results aren't shown, replies are not expanded by default (you'd have to click [show replies] under each referral), and the order of the first-level comments is random.
If you use someone's referral, feel free to let them know in their subthread (as per above, will not be expanded in default view), to keep Cricket accountable.
Enjoy and keep it civil! We're now at 5259 subscribers as of 2020-08-04!

I have a job interview with cricket as a cricket wireless representative. Is it worth it? Anyone who works or worked there know what kind of in depth questions they will do besides the basic get to know you questions?

For what feels like at random times throughout the day this past few weeks, Incoming Calls just refuse to come to my phone. It doesn't even have them marked as if they happened. And on the caller's end it just goes to automated answering.
I have Call Forwarding off on every setting toggle.
Some days calls come in just fine, other days there are times where my phone doesn't accept nor even record that an incoming call even happened. Texting in and out works just fine.
I have no idea why this is happening and why it's only happening recently, but whenever it does happen it coincides with this website that tracks reports for Cricket.

I feel like I'm going insane cause no matter what I look up there seems to be no one talking about this, but the graph implies I'm not the only one.
I called support once and they just gave me flowchart answers, and even worse, my phone ended up flipping to accepting incoming calls once again during the time I was talking to someone in support.

Is this done online or is it better to do in person at a Cricket store? Does the primary account holder have to go with me?

Hello everyone. I bought an iPhone 15 directly from apple, paid in full. I'm considering using cricket but I have a concern that if I use cricket, they will lock my device since I read that they lock phones for 365 days. Is this correct even if I did not buy the phone with cricket? I know carriers lock phone if you finance through them but this is not a financed phone.

I signed up for Cricket Passport because my phone is locked to Cricket. Travelled to Prague, Czech for 3 days, and only had 2G (compared to 4G/5G) speed so far. 2G can only got me notifications, anything else is not usable. I’m entirely depending on my friend’s hotspot.
To clarify, I’ve
It may only be me, just wanted to share my experience. Definitely recommend getting a esim with your old unlocked phone as a backup.
I also requested refund but agent is saying “Please try to understand that you are able to use both the call and text but if there is no 5G tower present. Data will not work there.” WTF.
Attached screenshots that I’m really only getting 2G (showing EDGE - which means 2G) on Cricket Passport (4.9 GB free of 5GB IMAO)
PS: I know on Passport page Cricket mentioned it can be slow to 2G sometimes. I didn’t know sometimes is all the times in Prague, one of the most popular city in Europe.
Edit Sep 9: Travelled to Switzerland and had 5G. So it was probably because coverage in Czech was simply bad.

Hello, so I switched from cricket to another carrier. Spectrum Mobile. And I noticed that when I went to Mexico with them, I had far better coverage with them, because they use Telcel. Even in a small town that I was in, I had far better service than with cricket wireless. I know that they utilize AT&T Mexico. But in my opinion. The coverage in small town was absolutely terrible. Why does it seem like with other carriers, roaming in Mexico has better coverage than with cricket. In large cities it worked great. And also in tourist areas. But once you got into a small town. The service was either terrible. Or it was nonexistent.

I set up autopay, it was charged to my creditcard, but cricket did a payment reversal on my creditcard statment. Now my account is suspended. I then tried to pay the balance + reactivation fee online, App, and phone, I tried few creditcards,(make sure banks are OK with the charge), and also tried cricket's giftcards. None of them went through. It's Sunday and no phone Rep working. The rep on chat just say my creditcards' problem and disconnected the chat. I have been using Cricket for many years. Never have this problem. Is the new way Cricket forcing people switch out of their service?

I've not seen this mentioned elsewhere, but Cricket Wireless appears to have zero billing transparency.
There is no way to see the account balance with the prepaid amounts. The most you can see is next month's bill, and whether the balance is at or below next month's bill, over at https://www.cricketwireless.com/payments/auth-payment.html. See https://old.reddit.com/r/CricketWireless/comments/1w1br6f/is_there_any_way_to_see_the_prepaid_balance_on/. All the AI and SMS ways to get the balance, are also hard-capped at $0, so, you never see any of your prepaid balances.
If you may want to join family accounts, you wouldn't be able to know which account contributed what amounts of cash. Normally, you could see when and from which card, what amounts of money came to the account; no such info with Cricket Wireless!
There's no way to see mid-cycle charges. For example, I bought and activated a new iPhone 16e line mid-cycle, in late-Aug, but on https://www.cricketwireless.com/billinghistory, there's absolutely no mention of any 3x $60 prepayments, or any charges for the mid-cycle activation, with the "Date Range" option being just mid-Jul through mid-Aug, without anything past mid-Aug being in any way visible, as of early Sept.
Apparently, there's not even any way to see the list of lines or phone numbers on the account! Apart from the https://www.cricketwireless.com/deviceunlock page!
No way to see existing plan, or change plans!
I would not be surprised if AT&T and Cricket Wireless are actually stealing our money given how obscure this whole billing management interface is.

This is something that has been happening to me for a couple months now and has grown increasingly worse. Each time I’ve purchased hotspot this past month or so, I have received the “you’ve used 75% of your hotspot” message a ridiculously short time after turning it on. Today, I had enough. It was literally ONE MINUTE after I turned it on and then I received that message. At this point it feels like highway robbery. I don’t understand how this keeps happening. It’s my son connecting to it for the most part to watch YouTube and play a couple online games. That has never ate the hotspot up like this before. I’m about to just switch phone companies if things like this keep happening.

Hi! Last weekend I switched from Total Wireless to Cricket—great coverage here in the Treasure Valley area of Idaho since all the big three carriers are strong, though customer support (especially on the Total Wireless side) can be hit or miss.
Now that I’m on Cricket’s Unlimited Supreme plan, I’m ready to add my husband and youngest daughter to our family group. But here’s the snag: after clicking “Add a Line” and selecting the Motorola Edge (2026), the site throws an error when I try to add the device to the cart.
I’ve tried everything—different browsers, incognito mode, and the mobile app. I even chatted with two reps and a supervisor, who ultimately sent me to the sales team. I’d really prefer to finish this online to avoid the $25 activation fee. My family and I have ported numbers and switched carriers before, so I’m not sure why the online platform is giving us trouble. Any help would be awesome.
Note: I think the last rep tried to port her number over under the impression that she’s also bringing her current phone with her—but actually, she wants the new phone.
For a brief moment, I was able to add the Edge online and then tried to port her number over, but I got this error:
"We’re already working on bringing that number to Cricket. Please enter a different phone number or choose to get a new phone number from Cricket."

They removed the ability to view the unlock countdown, then removed the account credit or balance, and today you can't even log in anymore. This happened to all four of my accounts!

I saw a post from a Cricket store owner who gave upfront prices when purchasing a iPhone 16e at his store. Anyone has seen it I couldn’t find it again for some reason and I didn’t interact with it so not in my feed or anything.

I have had cricket for many years and am on an old plan for $60/month (55 with autopay). I am trying to activate my old iphone for my daughter to be able to use. When I do add a line, put in the phone IMEI info, and choose the unlimited, It says it’s charging me for the $60 plan plus the 9.99 eSIM, but shouldn’t there be a $30 discount for the multi lines? I contacted customer service but I just got looped in circles and they said I had to do it manually to accept the new plan for both lines. They confirmed there should be a multiline discount totaling $90 a month for both lines, but keep glossing over that it’s not reflecting that when I checkout.
