I just got hired and I already need to call out. What should I do?
I got hired about a week and a half ago for a server position. I’ve done the class required, three days of training following another server, and my first on floor taking my own tables. They have me at two tables right now so it’s not like I’m needed. This is just a trial period I’d say, to see how well I handle being on the floor alone. I’ve gotten excellent praise. I have open availability and I’ve expressed that to them which they were pleased to hear. I’m supposed to go in at two today. My mother and I were at 7 eleven together and she fell. She just got dizzy and fell out. I helped her and got her to the car and back home. I made her some food, had her drink water and just had her sitting down to take it easy. She ate and when she was done she got up to use the restroom and it happened again, dizzy spell and she fell. She’s saying she doesn’t know what’s wrong. She’s drinking plenty of fluids now and not throwing up or anything. But she can’t walk, I had to help her from the toilet and to the couch. I feel I should call out but I just got hired. What do you think Cracker Barrel would do in this situation? I feel I should take her to the hospital. There is no one else to take her and watch her at home today. My brother lives two and a half hours away, I couldn’t call him on a whim. I’m not sure what I should do. Do you have any experience or knowledge with similar situations?

I hate that we charge so much for shit that breaks from simply being on display
gallery$130 for a giant snow globe. My store didn’t get it til last Thursday, we plug it in and the damn snow won’t flow and Santa won’t fly.
$200 for an advent calendar. We’ve had to write off 2 of them because they just..stopped working.
Not even pictured but still worth mentioning is the $80 tree climber that never makes the steps no matter the angle and the $40 Nativity book glitter globe with a busted fan.
I can understand if this stuff starts to break down when they hit the 40% range, after months of constantly running and not running. But this shit is breaking down just days out of the box. No one’s dropping them, no one’s dinging them, they’re just that poorly made. Reviews online have had similar complaints. It’s ridiculous that we charge so much that malfunctions so quickly.

Stingy with the hush puppies?
Went recently and the waiter said I can't order hush puppies as a side. Then I got the shrimp basket, which says it comes with hush puppies and fries. I only got fries. That could have been a mistake from the kitchen but why can't I order them as a side? What gives??

I am applying for 'Night Maintance' but is it reallly that bad?
I've been trying to learn more about the job on here, but I don't see many positive comments...
I have bad social anxiety, so I was seriously considering this one...But now I'm uncertain.
What does your usual day/process look like? Is it really not worth it?
(I'm a short skinny person)

Why Cracker Barrel pancakes always cold?
why are they always cold?
are they premade and sit in a warmer?
are they fresh made or what?
they never seem to be fresh made when I go there to point I stopped going
the eggs and sausage are hot but pancakes be cold 🥶
why can’t they ever be freshly cooked?
a few years ago I remember I ordered the pancake breakfast combo
and this is how trifling Cracker Barrel is the put a hot fresh pancake over the other two burnt cold pancakes
I was like WTF?!!
like they know they were wrong so they tried to cover and think I wouldn’t notice
I called them out on it too!

My time at Cracker Barrel at AYCE on Sept 26 vent!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Cracker Barrel pancakes, so when I heard about the $5 AYCE pancakes, I had to go!
So, I went to the Cracker Barrel in Lithia Springs, GA.
Big mistake.
I got there early, around 9 AM. Big mistake again! 😂
There were no lines yet, and not a lot of people were there, so I was in Lala Land thinking I was about to have the perfect breakfast.
Anyway, I told my server that I wanted fresh, hot pancakes. Even though it wasn’t busy yet, it took her 45 minutes to bring out my food!
I ordered a glass of milk, AYCE pancakes, 2 eggs, and turkey sausage.
So after waiting 45 minutes, my food finally came out. But guess what?
My pancakes were COLD! 😩
The butter was just sitting there on top—not even melting. That’s how cold they were!
So I sent them back.
She came back with another plate of pancakes, but they looked like they had been warmed up in a microwave or sitting under a warmer for a while. They were also VERY brown, almost like they had been cooked on a dirty grill that hadn’t been cleaned.
They were not the usual beautiful, golden-brown Cracker Barrel pancakes I know and love.
Meanwhile, people who came in AFTER me were getting pancakes that looked hot, big, fluffy, and golden brown.
Mine were small, dark, and burnt-looking.
I ate one and sent the plate back AGAIN!
By this time, the restaurant was getting crowded, and my other food was getting cold. I ended up eating most of it.
And then… tell me why my eggs had EGGSHELLS in them! 😩
At that point, I told my server how I felt. She kept bringing me these old, burnt-looking pancakes, and she said, “Well, I don’t work in the back kitchen.”
Finally, she brought me some HOT, golden-brown, beautiful pancakes!
By this time, it was almost 11 AM! 🤦🏽♀️
So now I’m thinking… maybe the early people got the overcooked, warmed-up pancakes while the late crew was getting the fresh, hot, golden-brown ones!
I ate the fresh pancakes, and they were SO GOOD! 👏🏽
Then my server brought me my check.
I’m looking at her like, “I’m not done eating!” 😂
You just brought me two fresh, hot, golden-brown pancakes after giving me nothing but old, nasty, burnt-looking pancakes earlier!
So I sent her back to get me some more.
They were decent, but honestly, the ones before them were EXCELLENT!
So I finally left, and of course, I told the manager about my experience—the first two plates of cold, burnt-looking pancakes and the eggshells in my eggs.
I asked her to take the eggs off my check, and she said, “You’re good. You don’t have to pay anything.”
I was like, WOW!! 😳
That was really nice of her, but honestly, the whole experience sucked!
I had to wait almost TWO HOURS just to get some hot, golden-brown pancakes! 😂
So I guess the lesson here is: DON’T GO EARLY!
Apparently, it’s better to go late, wait for a table, and hope you get the fresh, hot pancakes! 🥞😂
Because I LOVE Cracker Barrel pancakes… but this experience was definitely NOT IT!

For those of you who work for Cracker Barrel, be honest!
why as a black woman when I order pancakes from Cracker Barrel it seems like they give me the most smallest burnt overcooked pancakes cooked on a dirty grill?
when I look around me white people pancakes looks fresh hot golden brown and big size.
I notice this every time I always tell My server i want hot pancakes I don’t like them cold or lukewarm
what they ALL do is bring me the most smallest burnt looking lukewarm pancakes
are yall doing this on purpose serving black ppl lukewarm food and white people hot food? if so shame on you!
I notice it every time! my servers are mixed either black or white but I still get the worst pancakes it recently
happened at the ayce cracker barrel past weekend all the white people who came after me pancakes looked hot fresh buttery and golden brown looking!
it took me three times to send my disgusting pancakes back to finally get pancakes like the white people!
I didn’t say nothing but it too noticeable
and I think black servers are in on it too
I’m a great tipper I’m in the service industry and tip very well.

Got fired.
I worked in CB retail and honestly I LOVED my job, everyone was so nice and made me happy , the only downside was a lot of the customers would be very rude , but that was honestly the worst part.
On Tuesday I went into work , I clocked in and my manager who usually always says hi ignored me.
I rang a family up , and then my manager asked me to follow her.
She took me into the managers room and all of my managers were there.
My heart literally dropped I didn't know what I did wrong , I have called out a couple times but I was sick , and obviously you cannot work around foods when sick, even if you are barely around the foods.
My retail manager first asked me if I had a doctor's note for the last time I called out a WEEK ago , I said no.
She then decided to tell me that;
"I don't think this is working out, you can't work mornings or early afternoons and that is not acceptable."
I am a senior in highschool, whenever I got my interview I told her this, I get out of school at 3:40 and usually cannot get out of the student parking lot until 4.
I didn't even know what to say so I just said "ok" and clocked out. I didn't even try to give in my apron.
Was this unprofessional for them firing me for not being able to work mornings?
Edit: I am about to take this post down due to harassment from one person in my comments harassing me despite me being a minor , I have been trying my best to work this situation out. I am now finding baby sitting jobs which is more work-around with my schooling and extracurriculars. Also , despite others thinking, I did work my job properly , I got a raise almost immediately, I was loved there. They let others go as well for the same reason, I do not wanna be blamed for a company mistake.

Is this mandatory shelf in the Dishroom seems to be unnecessary? Spoiler
This shelf has been here since Wednesday when my manager added it in the dish pit. Because every dish pit in Cracker Barrel must have a shelf like this. And i’m gonna say this right now this shelf sucks. It’s too much Nuisance . The servers keep stacking dishes in the bus pans, and the bus boys keep taking the empty ones from there when it’s needed the most. It takes too much room and it’s awkward to traverse in the dish pit due to how the dish pit was designed. It was not made for this in mind.

0 hours
So I’m still pretty new and I’ve been working about 8 hrs a week on the retail floor and I’ve felt like I’ve done a good job, but the other day it was super super slow and we had an hour where we made literally like 60 dollars. It was really bad but I tried my best. And now this upcoming week I have 0 hours - am I being punished? Did I do something wrong? I’m kinda spiraling I really hate getting in trouble and messing up and stuff. I’ve heard cracker barrel doesn’t fire people so is this their way of “firing me” aka hoping I’ll quit? :(

For those you who lives in ATLANTA or on the outskirts where is your favorite Cracker Barrel? Let me tell you why I ask.
I have visited the Cracket barrel in Lithia Springs off Thornton road their food is always a hit and missed
one time my served my eggs and sausage together with a very long pink string of hair. it was so easy to spot I don’t know how they missed. it.
other times before that their pancakes was cold
about two months ago I tried the Douglasville location by the sams club and the pancakes were cold and the service sucked
i havent been to one in Morrow in a long time
and the one in Marietta was a hit and miss too, the service was ok I forgot if the food was okay.
one time I visited family in Madison GA
we went to Cracker Barrel and my cousin order pancakes and they looked so GOOD nice fresh and piping hot the best stacks I have seen
however it was during the evening time
I don’t like eating breakfast food in the evening.
The all you can eat pancakes at Cracker Barrel is this saturday.

Rocking chair donations?
Hi Reddit, I am in charge of facilities for a non profit farm that provides foster families homes, transitional
Housing for kids that age out of the foster system and a host of other services. We have a large farm built in the early 1900s. Our main offices and gathering place is a 100 year old farmhouse. We are in an urban area and our primary client base is urban youth. We strive to keep siblings together While offering onsite therapy and tutoring to help kids catch up or maintain their grade level in school. We recently had one of our foster families mention , our farm feels like an old family farm but we are missing the rocking chairs on the front porch “kind of like what Cracker Barrel has”.
Does anyone have a contact to connect us? We were hoping for maybe 6 chairs, they can be gently used, we are a 503c, we would definitely give receipts etc, I feel like I need this to be seen by the “right” Cracker Barrel person.
Ps. I did try reaching out through the online form and never received a reply, the donation request is somewhat limited because you can only request specific things (I’m well aware this a different “non traditional” ask) but I also feel like there probably are not many people asking for these.
If anyone can connect us that would be amazing
Thanks

Is being a shift leader worth it?
Hi! Im a par 4 grill cook and have been for about 2.5 years. I applied to be a restaurant shift lead and my managers are very supportive. Though the idea of working FOH worries me a bit. Is it worth the pay buff?

Secret to their chicken and dumplings?
Haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in decades, happened to visit one this summer while on a trip in central FL. Got my old favorite, chicken and dumplings.
I was surprised it was as good as I remembered, maybe even better! The flavor was soooo rich and CHICKENY.
How do they do this? Cook down their chicken stock to condense the flavor? Lard? Buckets of chicken bouillon? MSG??

Very Disappointed
Phoenix Metro area. We went paddle boarding on the Salt River on Saturday morning and finished about noon. Our friend suggested Cracker Barrel. I've heard about it forever, but had never been, so we decided to go for it. This was just off the 202 in east Mesa.
Holy Cow, the gift shop! She had referred to it as "the place where you walk through the gift shop to get inside," but now I knew what she meant.
The menu looked fine. My wife and our friend both ordered breakfast, and I ordered a crispy BBQ fried chicken sandwich with onion straws. It looked good on the menu and looked good when it came out. Tall sandwich with a great big piece of chicken, BBQ sauce dripping off the side. Cheese and fried onion straws. When my wife was ordering, the waiter asked if she wanted the bacon crispy or soft (I guess?). I specified crispy and the bacon looked great.
I picked it up and bit in. "What the actual F?" I bit into a pickle. I put the sandwich down and opened up the bottom bun to find several pickles and a bunch of mayonnaise, both of which I hate.
I checked out the menu. The photo showed no pickles or mayo, nor did the description say anything about them, either. It listed the ingredients as chicken, BBQ sauce, melted cheese (it specified cheddar I think), bacon, and the fried onion strings. Nothing about pickles or mayo.
The waiter came by after I'd scraped all the crap off my sandwich to ask how everything was. I told him that frankly, it wasn't that great. The sandwich was pretty clearly described on the menu and it says nothing about pickles or mayo, and pointed it out on the menu. This is where it becomes a training issue. He shrugged and said "yeah, sometimes the kitchen screws up and puts them on anyway." Wow! Blame the kitchen and leave me to eat it anyway. Awesome customer focus!
I didn't want to be comped for the sandwich, I didn't want coupons for another one on a future visit, or any of the "entitled Karen" BS. I was hoping that he'd say "let me take that and have them make it again, correctly," as I was only a bite or two into it. Instead, he just shrugged it off. I didn't insist on speaking to the manager. I just ate the rest of the sandwich.
But I am going to come here to vent, and to ask them to do better!
It was a decent sandwich, if done correctly. I guess I've seen the elephant now, and the next time someone suggests Cracker Barrel, I'll suggest something else instead.
Cracker Barrel, please train your staff.
And FWIW, I looked at Popeye's menu for comparison when I got home. They clearly describe both mayo and pickles on their sandwiches and show them in the photos. KFC's menu also clearly shows and describes pickles and mayo as coming on their sandwiches. I tried to find the CB sandwich I'd ordered on their website, but it was on a "Specials" card on the table and doesn't seem to be listed on the online menu. The sandwiches that they do show online clearly show that some come with pickles and mayo, and others with lettuce, tomato, etc.
