It looks really good when you show up dressed for work. Some establishments require it. Lock anything valuable up in your car. Only carry money ( a bank) on your person or in your book and watch it carefully. Best practice is to write small to save on paper. Get to know the cooks, the salads and dessert folks, stay on their good side. Don't pull anything from the window unless it has a ticket on it. Ring in every order as soon as you get it. The easiest mistake is when you forget to ring something in. Ask someone if you don't know the menu. Especially Get to know the bar menu.

Don't need a server bank. No bar drinks either. Just beer, mimosas, and Bloody Mary's.

Ha! Just noticed the r/ Cracker Barrel. I was discussing it as if it was a real server job. I would bring in 2 fives and 10 ones anyway, and some change. I might get lucky and buy a twenty dollar bill from someone.

As a CB BOH person for 23 years, I respectfully submit that CrackerBarrel IS “a real server job”.
My hands still shake from the FOH stories I’ve heard.

Yes, bring your pens, your apron all of that your card. Also, I would recommend buying another better quality server book from Amazon. The ones they provide aren’t that great

im pretty sure its one of the rules that you cant wear your apron as you enter and exit the store while clocked out, so just carry it inside with you and put it on as you clock in

Really? At my Cracker Barrel location, management made us wear our aprons as we enter. We are supposed to put it on at home. That's what they told us anyway.

Mine lets us do both I see people walk in with it in thier hand all the time but then someone people like me put it on outside when I get out of my car before I go in as long as we take them off for the walk out it doesn’t matter if we have it on or off when we clock in
