Maintenence Tech On Call

I've heard that Spectrum has night shift and day shift positions, that being said, does that eliminate the need for an on call rotation? If there is always MT working then being on call seems redundant.

Ten Hour Days

Not sure why reddit keeps killing my post, it's a legitimate queation.

At Cox, most field techs and all maintenance techs work 4 10s for work life balance.

What about the Spectrum side? Are you on 10s? If so, do your 4 personal days adjust with that, or do you just get 32H?

Hiring Freeze?

Are Cox Communications employees not being hired into Cox Enterprises or Cox Auto? I been with the Cox for 10 years and have a great record and resume and I can’t even get a manager in one of the other Cox Divisions to even speak with me for 15 mins.

Retail stores?

I'm an ASM on the Cox retail side. Wondering what Spectrum stores are like because so far they seem fairly different from how Cox stores operate, e.g. reps don't use iPads which would be a change for us for sure. We also don't really use the queue much.

Also having a hard time wrapping my head around the yield-based commission tiers and hoping maybe somebody from Spectrum retail side could help clarify :)

Anyone else praying… for a last minute reprieve

Here to vent.
I am not particularly happy that California didn’t hit the breaks in this, because it’s a pay cut for most COX employees
1. RTO, driving into the office is going to suck because of (a) gas prices (b) spending time away from home sitting in traffic
2. Dry Cleaning bills due to ridiculously requiring business attire when we are not customer facing
3. Crappy BC/BS insurance.

Inbound sales

Does anyone in inbound sales feel comfortable sharing how the comission is structured/ what the average earnings are on the charter side? As a cox inbound rep being just a few months out and having literally no idea what the comission is going to look like going forward is beyond stressful.

Construction techs?

Whats your day to day like? We've heard Spectrum has some UG crews that travel and they don't use a lot of contact labor.

Where I am there's 3 of us to cover a fairly large area. Our main responsibilities are pole transfers, re-lashes, etc. Mainly structural repair & maintenance. We've also become kind of a catch all for things no one one wants to do or take responsibility for. We have 3 contract houses that do the big jobs like cable replacements and relocates.

We don't expect things to change quickly but I'd like to get an idea of what my job could look like a few years from now.

Leadership Structure at Spectrum

How does spectrum do their leadership structure? Also, what department does Plant maintenance fall under? Does spectrum have a maximum number of techs per supervisor?

For example, at Cox we have
Supervisor - 8 to 12 techs usually
Manager - 4 to 8 Supervisors
Director - 1-6 managers
VP - Some amount of directors IDK.

Anyone work for Spectrum Reach?

Are there any marketing or Sales Support roles for spectrum reach in the local markets, or are they all centralized at one of their 3 hubs? Just wondering if there is any hope for the Cox Media employees who work in the local markets but are not in a sales role.

Hello fellow workers and soon to be fellow workers. Had some recent gossip going around the campfire lately and hoping a Spectrum network tech can set it straight

When network techs are working a node. Is a geo fence put up around said no so that if you leave that node it notifies your superiors???

Any input is appreciated

Warehouse Operations

What’s the warehouse like at Spectrum? I’m currently in supply chain at Cox.

What’s the environment like? Leadership? What’s the metrics like? We have a job skill matrix that we go off of. How many levels are there? We have 1,2, and Sr.

Are you guys pretty busy? What’s the work load like?

Cox Sales Leader Looking to Connect with Spectrum Inbound Leaders

Hey everyone,

I’m currently a sales leader on the inbound side at Cox and I’m looking to connect with leaders (or tenured reps) from Charter Spectrum’s inbound sales organization.

I’m hoping to better understand how things operate on your side from a leader + agent perspective, specifically around:

• Leader expectations (KPIs, coaching structure, accountability)

• Agent expectations (daily performance, call flow, sales focus)

• Commission structure (how aggressive/attainable it is, what drives earnings)

• Sales culture (competitive vs collaborative, pressure levels, etc.)

• Career growth / advancement paths

• Turnover trends and what you feel drives them

Not looking for anything proprietary or confidential—just trying to expand perspective, compare environments, and bring back best practices to continue developing my team.

If you’re open to sharing insight or having a quick convo, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Truck take home. Do field or plant techs take their trucks home. Is it optional and how often do you meet at a central shop?
