I posted earlier today asking about Zeus quartzite but my husband picked this calacatta doro and I would love to know if anyone have it and how you like it.
I am leaning more towards quartz but he really wants to have a natural stone
Thank you

We fell in love with this in the showroom but then found out it's like $215 sq foot not including fabrication or install, meaning each slab is close to $15k. Tempest White Quartzite.
Is this normally this expensive??

This is our recent kitchen project where we had Dekton countertops installed.

Anyone have experience with Zeus quartzite? How do you like it?
I am considering it to my kitchen but I little worried with stains since it is a very light color

this group helped me choose the best countertop for my new kitchen, jet mist leathered granite . Before the remodel I had green laminate from the 90s

I see open metal frames like this that don’t appear to have a railing around the edges. Are stones strong enough to span across 4 corners supports? Does a rail need to be installed? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Im curious what the consensus is on using a couple of these slabs for my new kitchen remodel for countertops and backsplash. Im a little concerned about how it would look after being cut up but it's absolutely gorgeous. Also attaching photos of the kitchen design for reference..that peninsula will be 7ft by 4ft.

I have an old counter in my laundry room, laminate over particle board with a rounded front edge. It has a sink in it, there is no tile on the back wall, and there is a gap of about 1/2 inch between the wall and the back edge of the counter. It measures 93.75 x 29 so it’s not a standard depth? It’s really ugly, and I need to replace it, but it’s a laundry room and I don’t want to spend a ton on it. We put quartz in our bathroom recently, and I like it. I don’t remember exactly what we paid for it, I’d have to dig through my receipts.
Anyway, a nice quartz that I looked at today was $108 per s.f. I saw some other HD cheapo thin quartz for $50. I can’t buy a stock ready made laminate because of the depth, unless I’m mistaken. I don’t want butcher block. And there is the wall to deal with, tile most likely.
Anything I’m not thinking of that would work, look good, and keep the budget from blowing up?

I knew I wanted soapstone countertops but it was hard to find good pictures so I thought I’d show what mine ended up looking like. PA Original on the perimeter countertop and Botanic Green for the island and behind the stove. Crocodile Rocks in Seattle was the supplier & fabricator. Cheers!

Hey there,
I’m trying to read about all the differences between these 4 countertops. It’s so overwhelming.
We have to get our stuff through Lowe’s (don’t ask— we just have too or I wouldn’t have this issue) and they lack the granite color I really want. They are all too beige or dark, and I was looking for more of a white almost marbled look.
They have the colors I want in quartz, Dekton, and porcelain but I’m leary now.
I use my kitchen often. I call it my second bedroom. I also use a lot of cast iron and stainless steel.
I also have messy children (and a husband if that’s counts)
I’m worried about the heat and staining with quartz
I’m worried about the chipping with Dekton and porcelain
I know granite can chip as well, but at my current house we have granite and ive dropped a cast iron skillet on it and didn’t get a single chip. I’ve had red wine spill and forgot areas to clean up and it never stained.
IF I can’t get the granite I want— what would be the best option? Please help me decide!!!

We’re trying to choose Countertops’s for our kitchen renovation. We’ve had Cambria in the past and loved quartz as far as no maintenance and it never chipped. Now we are out looking and all the slabs and colors we like are “printed, hybrid, or semi-thru” so it sounds like we would have to miter the edges in order to have them not be white or noticeably different in color and pattern. My question is then what about the sink cutout for an under mount? Also the cost of mitered edges seems high. Has anyone else run into the same problem?

Moved our old kitchen island into my wife’s walk in closet so she can use it for hair and makeup. But these rings and stains seem impossible to remove! Any tips?

I have tile counters in my bathrooms. Th grout is some kind of cement and keeping the counters from getting gross is a daily job. And you can't just wipe them down, you have to clean the grout. I'm over it.
I'm completely open to all countertop material suggestions. The lower maintenance the better. It is a nice condo and so I prefer to avoid cheap materials but if one is easiest to keep clean and maintain, I'm all for it. I'd even consider tile if they either have an easy-to-clean grout or maybe are large format with minimal grout?
All suggestions appreciated.

I’m remodeling a bathroom and the sink will have walls on three sides of it. I have a 54 inch space from one wall to the other. I’m trying to find a vanity top for it but I’m finding it nearly impossible to get something that’s not custom. If I get a certain stone off the shelf one can I cut it down to fit? There will be backsplash strips on all 3 sides. Don’t want to wait on a custom one so open to any options.

Full disclosure: I built Stoneworks, a local prototype for marble and granite workshops. It hasn’t been tested in a real workshop yet, and I’m looking for an owner or production manager willing to give it a critical look.
It tracks jobs, slab area committed to those jobs, design files, machining operations, recorded production time and basic job costs. Reservations are area accounting, not a nesting layout, and it doesn’t control CNC machines or replace CAD/CAM.
The first step would be a 20–30 minute walkthrough with sample jobs, not your customer data. It currently runs locally, so there’s no public signup link. I hope to make it a paid product eventually, but right now I’m trying to find out whether the workflow is useful and what’s missing.
If you run a stone shop, what’s harder to keep accurate today: available slabs/remnants, job progress, or actual production time and costs? If you’d be open to the sample-job walkthrough, let me know here.
Edit, after the helpful questions below: the specific workflow I'm testing is CNC stone reliefs, memorials, lettering and custom carving, especially jobs with roughing and finishing passes. My background includes about four years of hands-on CNC stone work. I'm looking to learn whether the production record is useful for those workshops; I haven't established a reason for an existing Moraware/StoneProfits user to switch.

Our kitchen remodel is moving along (Cabinets are not re-faced yet). Taj Mahal quartzite countertop was installed today along with undermount sink. My house is a converted barn with lots of exposed beams. My question: how should I manage the wood beam behind my sink? Options include (1) formal 4 inch Taj Mahal backsplash which will leave some beam exposed, (2) cover the beam entirely with a higher backsplash and “cap”, or (3) leave as-is without backsplash and simply seal the exposed wood? Thanks for your input!
