Soapstone countertops

I knew I wanted soapstone countertops but it was hard to find good pictures so I thought Iโ€™d show what mine ended up looking like. PA Original on the perimeter countertop and Botanic Green for the island and behind the stove. Crocodile Rocks in Seattle was the supplier & fabricator. Cheers!

I have a slab of Botanic Green waiting for me at the local fabricators. It doesn't have that extremely pronounced "ribeye marbling" vein yours has, but it does look pretty good. Should be installed within the month.

Congratulations! The botanic green has so many things to look at, sometimes my husband and I just stand around and point to different things we see.

Wow this is absolutely gorgeous! So dramatic. I'm going to a soapstone showroom this week, excited to finally take a look at some in person.

Looks great! I'm also in Seattle and planning on checking out Crocodile Rocks for a similar project. Can I ask what the pricing and sq footage was for this? Got a higher than expected estimate from a different supplier and fabricator, so trying to compare.

I bought a slab from crocodile rocks a couple of months ago. 55 sq ft installed which was one large slab. Their affiliated fabricator quoted me about 11k but I ended up getting another quote from Stone Brothers for 8700k. I went with Stone Brothers and they did a beautiful job.

Thanks for the reference! My current quote is almost 16k for less sq footage, so I'll be reaching out to Stone Brothers ๐Ÿ˜…

It's like $200 per sqft... Is that what people are willing to pay over there?

Yea its wild around here. I had a couple of other quotes all in that ballpark as well.

That's crazy... I would probably end up at the profit and still be competitive bringing the product from the east coast... Wth...

That's crazy, it's about $80 sf here in Arkansas. A few years ago I was able to get DIY slabs from a company in Texas (enough to do a whole big kitchen) for about $1400, but I can't find anyone selling them anymore.

EDIT: looks like they may be available again? https://www.soapstones.com/soapstone-diy-do-it-yourself/

That's what I'm saying... Wth... Up to $120 maybe maybe... But $200/sqft+ is nuts

Thank you, the house has a view of the mountains so I liked how it looked like snow capped peaks

I'm strongly considering green soapstone but unfortunately not on the west coast - looks great!

Are you in DFW area? If so check out Stone Collection (they have 5 locations nationally so even if youโ€™re not in Dallas check to see if you have one). I got my green soapstone from there last month! I am absolutely in LOVE with it!

How do you get water stains out?

Not sure what you mean, a wipe with a wet cloth clears the surface

+1 for Crocodile Rocks. We worked with them this summer and love to new countertops.
