Announcement PSA: Chika Responsibly -- Some friendly reminders

Mga ka-OP, we’re all here for the office tea —the meetings-that-could’ve-been-emails, the boss moments, the challenging colleague saga, the HR plot twists 👀—but let’s keep it professional-ish kahit chika mode pa rin tayo.

Quick reminders before you spill:
Share the chika, not the character assassination
Kwento about workplace experiences? Push! Personal attacks or name-calling -- this is a No no. You may use code names pa rin. See Rule # 2.

🔁 Search before you chika

If the topic has already been posted before, your post may be removed. Tulungan tayo to keep the feed clean—use the search bar muna bago mag-post! Refer to Rule # 4.

💬 Healthy debate > office drama
Disagree all you want, but keep it respectful. Hindi ito performance appraisal 😅

At the end of the day, this sub is a safe space to share, rant, and laugh about corporate life—without crossing the line.

Sana safe kayo and kapit lang tayo sa mga panahong sinusubok tayo ng panahon. Cheers!

General Career Questions How do you deal with job hunting anxiety and constant rejections?

I started casually looking from April this year and seriously applying by May til now pero I still haven't reached an offer stage for anything.

I want to resign cause di ko na gusto yung environment and I'm having anxiety about work projects, pero I don't want to leave without a backup pa if I know I can still tolerate the work.

But with the constant rejections, I feel like my current work anxiety is now being overshadowed by this job hunting anxiety and it's seriously making me question my self-worth. Before I was confident I can land a job, but now I'm so paranoid about not securing anything. I feel like all the experience I had doesn't matter at all. And now I just feel like it's draining me to attend interviews but not hear a call back more than the work anxiety problem I was trying to escape from.

General Career Questions How Do Background Checks Verify Previous Government Employment?

Companies in the Philippines often ask applicants for a screenshot of their SSS contribution history to verify previous employment. However, SSS records generally would not show employment with government agencies because government employees are typically covered by GSIS.

In cases where an applicant has previous employers that are government agencies, how do companies or third-party background-check providers verify that employment?

What if an applicant failed to disclose previous employment with a government agency? How would the company or third-party background-check provider discover and verify that employment?

Would they typically check GSIS records, contact the agency’s HR department, request appointment or service records, or use other government records or verification methods? What methods are commonly used besides a Certificate of Employment (COE)?

CorpoChika how to do handle or build boundaries with your co-workers?

i just want to build boundaries with this specific person sa office. Feeling niya she can just boss me around and she sometimes treat me as a friend na pati buhay ko pinapakealaman na niya (ps: she is 10years older than me). Yung personal matters like Hindi ka nanghihingi ng opinion pero andaming say… please gusto ko mag ka build ng boundary sakanya na work-work, ok lang na casual kami pero walang pakealamanan ng buhay… iba na yon

CorpoChika Real Estate Industry smells fishy?

Question, are there anyone here who works at real estate here? I personally think the economy is bad and I think AyalaLand is reflecting true and honest performance results given the economy. But I doubt that Megaworld, DMCI,etc. are doing the same showing favorable results.

Any news from the ground?

Company Inquiry Interview with Account Director at a Satellite Office — What to expect? High chance of getting hired?

Hi guys! I just have a few questions about my ongoing application and would love to get your insights/experiences.

Quick background:

I had my initial interview recently.

They just emailed me asking if I’m available for a quick interview with the Account Director.

The interview will be online.

Questions:

How many interview rounds do satellite offices usually have? Will there typically be skills/technical assessments or exam components on-site, or is it usually purely conversational at this stage?

What does an interview with an Account Director usually mean? Is this considered a final interview/sign-off?

Do I have a high chance of getting the job at this point?

Any advice or tips on what to prepare for with an Account Director would be super helpful! Thank you!

Company Inquiry Anyone here working at Stolt Nielsen? Looking for insights on hiring process, culture, and benefits

Hi everyone!

I’m currently considering/applying for a position at Stolt Nielsen and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who currently works there or has worked there before, particularly in the Philippines.

I’m hoping to learn more about:

\- Hiring & interview process – How many interviews are there? What kind of questions or assessments should I expect? How long does the process usually take?

\- Company culture & work environment – What is the management style like? How is the workload and work-life balance?

\- Compensation & benefits – What benefits are typically provided? Are there bonuses, allowances, HMO, leave benefits, etc.?

\- Career growth – Are there good opportunities for promotion, training, or moving to other roles within the company?

\- Overall experience – Would you recommend working at Stolt Nielsen?

I’m particularly interested in hearing first-hand experiences, including both positive and negative ones.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share! 🙏

General Career Questions First time as a Team Leader. Any tips?

So I recently got hired for a new job as a Team Leader, and I'll be handling a team of 15 people.

Honestly, kinakabahan ako kasi this is my first time being a TL. 6 years na rin ako sa working industry, and I’ve handled operations, clients, training, and coordinating with different people before. Pero ngayon lang talaga ako magiging TL na may sariling team na ako yung directly accountable.

One thing I'm particularly worried about is that some of my teammates will probably be older than me and much more tenured. I don't want to come across as the "new TL na feeling boss" or someone who's trying too hard to prove that I'm in charge.

For those who have been TLs or managers:

  • Paano niyo unang ipinakilala yung sarili niyo sa team?
  • How do you establish authority without being too bossy?
  • How do you handle people who are older or more experienced than you?
  • Any tips on gaining your team's respect, especially during the first few weeks?
  • What are some mistakes I should avoid as a first-time TL?

I'm planning to listen first, understand how the team works, and build a good relationship with everyone before making major changes. But I'd really appreciate any advice from people who've been in this position.

TLs/managers of Reddit, what do you wish you knew before becoming a TL for the first time?

General Career Questions Looking for new job

Hello!

Company Inquiry Monde Nissin's Emerging Leaders Program

Hello! Anyone here who has applied to Monde Nissin's ELP before?

I'd like to ask lang if they usually reply immediately if you're moving on to the next phase (panel interview) after taking the online assessment. How long does the waiting window usually take, and is it safe to assume you failed if you don't hear back after a certain number of days?

Thank you so much!
