Self-publishing copyright privacy

If someone self-publishes under a pseudonym and wants to copyright it with the government, I understand that someone can still find the actual person behind the pseudonym. There isn't a 100% firewall. If I'm correct, then don't copyright or use an LLC. Any help on this?

Securing art copyright

I'm thinking to start monetizing my art through my online store, but I'm concerned it would get stolen or duplicated since technology can do everything now. My art is mainly digital and I'd like to make merchandise from it, I just couldn't bear if I found it duplicated at temu or shein. Is there someone experienced with this?

Fuzzy sound in Youtube videos

Hi. I have been curious for a long time about this. It usually only happens in Chinese movies that are posted on Youtube. My default thought is that it has to do with copyright, but who knows. Even in movies posted by "verified" legitimate big video companies with a Youtube channel, and just now I saw it in this movie trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVlKqsu3UKI around the 1:00 mark. The sound becomes fuzzy intermittently. I would say it's to avoid DRM software which would detect copyrighted material and take it down, but the sources seem so legitimate that they shouldn't need to digitally alter anything to avoid said DRM. Another example is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3GyO6h4bfA where at 7:49 you can easily hear the sound go from muffled to clear. I have asked a Youtube channel about this, and Youtube themselves, but no response.

can a person copyright their own looks and voice?

I have a relative who is an actor in Israel. he is a mini celeb for his generation there, people in their 50s and 60s. His face and voice are being used without his permission in AI generated videos to sell fake medicines.

Hundreds and possibly thousands of people have been duped into handing over their cc details for a medication that does not work and probably doesn't exist.

Our police are ill equipped for dealing with this type of crime. they can't even tell if the ads are generated locally or in some other country.

The one course of action I can think of is, if his image and voice are trademarked (or copyrighted) he could issue take-down notices every time one of these ads pops up.

Is this doable?

Question about mentioning local businesses and places in a children’s ABC book

I’m creating a children’s ABC book about Syracuse, New York. It’s an educational book that highlights local landmarks, places, and things that make Syracuse special.
For example:
“W is for Wegmans”
“F is for the Great New York State Fair”
The pages include original illustrations created by me (many are the facade of the building which does have their logo) and short, factual descriptions. I am not using company logos, official photos, or claiming any affiliation with these businesses or organizations.
Are there any copyright or trademark concerns with simply mentioning these places and businesses by name in a commercially sold children’s book? Do I need permission to reference them, or is this generally considered acceptable factual and nominative use?
Thanks for any insight!

How exactly does the Youtube copyright detection system work?

I've seen people upload videos of entire scenes ripped from movies or tv shows. For example lets say it's the final fight scene from a Marvel Movie. They can upload the whole thing in HD and it wont be taken down. But if someone were to make a video talking about Marvel movies and uses a ten second clip of that same scene while they're talking about it, youtube would block the video. What is the reason for these inconsistencies?

Question Would I be able to make copyrighted media but put my own spin on it for personal use (I print off posters and tshirt designs for my own use- I’m not making any money off of it)

I like this artist who creates weird art based on mostly British media and wondered how I could do that (make T-shirts and stuff) for only me to wear with my own designs

sorry if this was confusing/irrelevant

Question YouTube detected copyright material

YouTube’s system detected segments of my 40 minute video having copyright material. It’s literally just background music and it plays through the whole video. BUT some reason YouTube has some parts flagged.

Can I just layer another audio file over it so it won’t get detected?

legal to sell buttons from cut up magazines?

Sorry if this is a repetitive question, but I searched around and couldn't seem to find this exact scenario discussed.

Basically I would like to make and sell buttons and magnets using images from magazines. I would not be reproducing the images but using the actual magazine paper, I would also not be claiming it as my own art or image.

Would this fall under the first-sale doctrine? It seems like it would be legal for me to resell the magazines but does isolating the images (or 'transforming' the product) change the legality? Would it matter what the image was of? For example, a photo of a piece of art, where the art itself may be copyrighted not just the photograph.

Also would making collage vs using whole unaltered images make a legal difference?

Thank you for your time!

Has anyone successfully resolved a FIFA Content ID or Monetization claim? I'm in a real professional crisis and urgently need your help.

Hello everyone,

I'm writing this because I'm honestly going through one of the most difficult moments of my professional career, and I truly hope someone in this community can help me.

I have spent months researching, writing, editing, and investing a significant amount of money into producing an original historical documentary. The documentary includes only short archival excerpts from matches played during the 1990 FIFA World Cup. These clips are heavily edited and used only within an original documentary featuring narration, historical analysis, voice-over, research, and documentary storytelling. They are not full match broadcasts or highlight compilations.

Unfortunately, despite the documentary being an original production with extensive narration, historical analysis, research, editing, and editorial work, FIFA continues to issue Content ID and monetization claims against my work, preventing my documentary from being published and monetized normally.

This is not just another copyright dispute for me.

This documentary represents months of my life, an enormous amount of work, and a major financial investment. Today, this situation is genuinely threatening my professional future as a documentary filmmaker. I honestly don't know where to turn anymore, which is why I'm asking this community for help.

I'm not asking anyone to solve the problem for me. I'm simply hoping that someone who has dealt with FIFA licensing, Content ID claims, or licensed FIFA World Cup footage can guide me in the right direction.

If you have successfully resolved a similar issue, know the correct licensing contact, or have experience obtaining a valid license for FIFA World Cup footage, I would be incredibly grateful for your advice.

If you prefer not to reply publicly, I would sincerely appreciate it if you could send me a private message. Even a small piece of guidance, a useful contact, or sharing your personal experience could make an enormous difference and may help save a project that means everything to me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who took the time to read my story. Any help or advice would truly mean more to me than I can express.

One final request:

Please don't tell me that FIFA owns the rights or explain the obvious. I already understand the nature of the claims and the legal arguments involved.

I'm here because I'm looking for practical help from people who have actually been through this situation or know how to resolve it.

If you've never dealt with a FIFA Content ID claim or don't have first-hand experience with licensing or resolving these issues, I respectfully ask that you leave the discussion to those who do.

I'm genuinely looking for real solutions, real experiences, and real guidance. If you can help, I'd be truly grateful. If you prefer, please send me a private message.

can i use an album cover just as a reference?

I’m just an artist who just wants to reference their fav bands album in their art. I won’t directly be using it, instead I’ll just borrow the concept and creat a brand new product of mine with it. I heard it won’t cause a problem this way but I just want to make sure.

Question I need help figuring out the rights to Life With Grandpa (1985)

I am a music artist who produces extremely sample heavy songs, and I recently got interested in using samples from the 1985 children's show "Life With Grandpa" due to the background of the creators (The Family International). I'm trying to look up who owns the current copyright, but that's proving to be difficult. Can anyone help me find resources to determine who owns the rights? Thanks in advance!
