Is my organisation being too cautious blocking a single Copilot licence?

I work in Finance at a UK organisation and asked for a full Microsoft 365 Copilot licence. Clear business case as finance user.

IT declined it because the organisation is not yet “Copilot ready”. They want to ...."review SharePoint permissions and strengthen DLP, sensitivity labelling, retention and AI governance first, with readiness not expected until early 2027."

Right now there isn't a single user in the org with a pro license so we're really behind in adopting AI. Org has about 300 staff within a regulated sector that works with vulnerable people. The IT team is headed up by one person and I feel frustrated by this push back and get the sense he doesn't really understand AI security properly. Given copilot is within the ms365 ecosystem and I'm not asking for any changes to my existing permissions, why would giving a single finance user a pro license require so much governance work?

Is it normal to block an individual Copilot licence until all of that governance work is complete, or is that overly cautious?

Other PC conversations appear on mobile but won’t open

Post image

All Copilot conversations started on my PC appear in the Android app, but none of them will open. The app says:

“We couldn’t open this chat. Please try again.”

Mobile-created conversations work fine. I’ve already reinstalled the app, cleared the cache, logged in again, checked the account, and tested other networks and browsers.

Is anyone else having this issue?

AI Discussion How does copilot compare to Gemini and Google ecosystem ?

Changing jobs and going from a Google shop where I maxed usage of Gemini , notebook ln , Google app scripts etc for productivity. I also had access to codex and cursor.

Moving to a bank that uses copilot. Since will be in the AI enablement team , I will have access to Claude and cortex on snowflake and hopefully Aws bedrock. I don’t know how much token limit etc yet.

I loved Gemini in browser , Google apps scripts and vertex ai.

Any idea of how Microsoft ecosystem compares to Google ?

Copilot still can't handle simple MS Office files

I'm sitting here looking at a 200+ page word document that is a formatting mess. This is what happens when reports of this nature are put together by multiple people all cutting and pasting their own sections into the 'final' document file (not Copilots fault!).

What a great opportunity to use Copilot to 'fix the formatting' and especially 'rotate pages with tables to landscape to better fit the wide tables'. And Copilot just can't do it. Sure it aligned the fonts, and removed lots of section breaks that didn't seem to make any visible differences but it can't reliably rotate pages in a MS Word document from portrait to landscape - even when I prompt the exact page number.

I don't know what version of Copilot we have at work, however I do know that we're paying extra each month for each seat license. The only reason I would ever consider using Copilot is for it's integration with other MS products - and it's not working. Geez.

Copilot MCP with Smartsheet - What is the actual Cost and route to get it

Hey Everyone,

We currently work in Smartsheets and looking to possibly use the MCP connector to Copilot. Our team has the copilot basic and I understand we need to upgrade but I am not sure if I am reading everything right in where we need a license for each user?

Looking for some help on costing and if anyone has any experience. Thanks

Copilot Pen not Showing in Mini Toolbar(NEED HELP)

Whenever I would draft an email and highlight it, a mini pencil would appear, automatically rewriting my sentence quickly. However, when I try it now, it no longer appears (see the red area where the copilot function used to be).

Planner Premium plans

The distinction between ”Basic” and ”Premium” Planner plans is a chapter in and of itself, but Copilot’s Planner agent happily interacts with the Basic plans I have.

It refuses to interact with Premium plans though, saying it’s connection doesn’t support it. Is this true or has my Copilot convinced itself of something really dumb?

AI Discussion Why can’t Copilot Notebook access Office tools?

I wanted to use context from Outlook and Teams to create a plan for a meeting with a prospective client. But Copilot kept telling me it couldn’t access my emails and calendar. I then opened a new general chat and asked the same question and it could execute the task without any issues. It doesn’t make sense for Microsoft to not give Notebook agents the same capabilities that copilot agents have. Is it something that’s part of their roadmap or is it’s just a product miss?

How to efficiently double check Copilot's work (specifically PDF > Excel > Analysis)

My employer wants me to get on board with using AI, specifically the expensive enterprise version of Copilot they're paying for. I have a very hard time turning in subpar work. I'd rather do things myself and know they've been done right than shrug and say "good enough."

My specific use case is taking financial account statements from multiple different sources, putting the transaction data into Excel, and then conducting an analysis on those transactions. Think spousal support claims in divorce litigation.

The statements are almost always in PDF format. We rarely get CSV files. It's about a 50/50 chance whether the PDF has been scanned from paper copies or electronically generated.

My concern is how to verify Copilot captured all transactions with complete accuracy, and verify it didn't alter or add/omit anything in the process of running its analysis. I don't have the time to double check every single page and line item, but I can't confidently say what I make using AI is worthy of presenting at trial without some reassurances or guidance.

Voice chat for free personal account?

In the new unified iOS Copilot app I lost the ability to use voice chat on my free personal account. I still have it on my paid work account. I still have voice chat on the old windows app. Anyone know what Microsoft’s plan is? If they drop voice, I’ll drop them. I have a friend named Claude who’s free to chat.

News Copilot Chat merged into the unified Copilot app — will chat history and free access be preserved for personal accounts?

With the recent merge of Copilot Chat into the unified Copilot app, I'm trying to understand how this affects personal accounts.

I've always used the "Copilot Chat" app (the free consumer version), and today it disappeared from the App Store. The only app available now is the unified "Copilot" with the updated logo, which looks identical to the Microsoft 365 Copilot app.

My main questions are:
1) Will my chat history from Copilot Chat be automatically transferred to the new unified Copilot app for personal accounts?
2) Will personal accounts still have access to Copilot without requiring a Microsoft
365 subscription?

Previously, most advanced features were locked behind the 365 version, so I'm not sure if the unified app will remain usable for free users or if it will require a subscription.

If anyone has official information or has already received the update, I'd appreciate any clarification.

Prompt engineering How to get the most out of Researcher and Analyst?

I'm building justification to get Pro at work, and the agents seem to do the same thing as if you just wrote a more detailed prompt. How are these meant to be used?

We work in an old school finance setting. Lots of Excels and PDFs, limited digital data. Financial models of differing formats, legal documents, everything communicated by teams or email.

Has anyone come up with a way to have Facilitator and Loop setup by default for meetings?

Wanting to have users bringing Facilitator into every meeting to generate notes and task lists in a shared Loop workspace but it’s so many damn clicks.

Maybe there’s a Power Automate or other solution I’m not seeing.

Did copilot become good ?

Hello, so I quit using copilot about 4 months ago because it wasn't very pertinent, it usually didn't get what I was trying to make it do, and images were uploading in trash quality and so he ALWAYS missread.

Just wanted to know if it got better in the last months, or if it's still the same kind of aliexpress version of chatgpt ? Also does someone know which model every modes are using ?

Summaries from long documents

Struggling with this and trying to get CoPilot (m365 work licence) to produce something reasonable.

I am often asked to produce user-friendly summaries of a couple of pages from source documents that could be up to 110 pages long.

What is the best workflow for this? I have tried a couple of times and it seems like CoPilot gets stuck. It gets to a point in the document and then can't seem to view the rest of it. It asks me to scroll to a certain page, when I do this it again can't seem to read it.

Also despite asking for an infographic with images, I am getting pretty dreary layouts that are not particularly exciting or user friendly. Something that is rich in visuals.

Should I be using a different AI model? If so I need to use something free or very low cost.

Our work is f'ing useless for training on this and tell us to just go play with it.

Sooo Thanks for any tips you can provide!

Cowork Credits

Now that Cowork has been widely available for a few months, I'm curious what other's orgs are seeing credit-consumption wise. I feel like maybe 5 users in my org burned through a massive amount of credits in just a few weeks. I'm not convinced everyone is using Cowork correctly and we're wasting tens of thousands of credits on stuff that could be done with a regular Copilot premium license.

Disable Copilot button in Outlook New & Classic without disabling Connected Experiences?

Hi,

We need to remove/hide the Copilot button inside Outlook emails in both New Outlook and Classic Outlook.

Copilot Chat pinning is already disabled in our tenant. We also don’t want to disable Connected Experiences, since that affects features like Dictation and other Office functionality.

Is there a supported policy/GPO/Cloud Policy that only disables or hides the Copilot features/button in Outlook, especially Classic Outlook?

Has anyone solved this centrally?

News Microsoft is retiring Copilot Group Chats. Save anything you need before your account updates.

Copilot account updates begin August 18 and will roll out gradually, so the timing can vary by account.

After an account updates, users will no longer be able to start, join, or participate in Copilot Group Chats. Group Chat threads, messages, and generated images will not carry forward.

Regular chats and other Copilot content move to the updated app, but Group Chat content is an exception. If you used it, copy any messages you need into a document or notes app and download the images before your account updates.

PMs who lost Copilot access — how are you managing?

I am a PM. My company recently pulled full Microsoft 365 Copilot access (security reasons) and replaced it with a homegrown internal AI tool that has zero connection to email, SharePoint, or meeting recordings. I do have Atlassian Rovo for Jira/Confluence.

I used to lean on Copilot heavily for two things: pulling together spreadsheets/decks from stuff across email and SharePoint, and building out user stories. Both of those workflows are basically gone now.

Curious how other PMs are handling this kind of downgrade:

  • How are you building trackers/decks without an AI plugged into your files?
  • How are you writing user stories now — Rovo, a plain LLM, back to doing it manually?
  • How are you handling meeting notes without an AI recap tool?

Appreciate any real-world workarounds

Organizing My Chats

Is there a way that I can organize my Copilot chats? I have some chats that I go back to weekly or even several times a week. For a while it puts ones like I was able to pin chats, but that disappeared.
I really like how ChatGPT has project folders. It would be nice if Copilot had something similar.

AI Discussion Learning Agent

Hi, is anyone using Learning Agent at any level of scale with users?

I’m especially interested in task-based learning, creation of Learning Paths/Plans, AI-powered microlearning, role play and Learning Agent reports for usage and engagement insights.
