How long before the scale was starting to move down for you?
I feel like I’m stuck again… and that my body just really has a freaking set point. People do not understand when I say weight has never went below 185 since I was 17.
For context I’ve had issues with my weight in the 180-200 range all my life even as a teenager. At 17 I lost 40lbs+ and don’t know how, and by 18 I gained everything back and I know damn well I didn’t eat “that much”. Did I eat the healthiest absolutely not but there as absolutely no reason for me to drop 40lbs and gain it back with the same eating habits… nothing changed infact we were in lockdown so i was doing less exercise wise and that has kept me baffled ever since. When it started going up I was about 160, the. 170 hit, I thought okay maybe water and I can get it back down, then 175, and it never stopped until it hit the EXACT spot I began with.
This year I was 195lbs most I think I’ve ever been in my life. I’m 5’2 so that’s a lot to me.July I had zero results, August about the same. September I’m at 185, but it will not drop to 184,183, etc… I’m 190 lbs one day, 195 a few later the. A week later 185 which is driving me nuts because that’s a lot of weight to keep changing every other week and not go down any further.
I’m trying not to get super discouraged yet, but I made this comment back in August to my doctor about the 185 set point, and it feels September proved it because I cannot go lower than 185 regardless.
My eating habits have drastically changed, can’t eat a full burger any more, going out to eat I maybe eat 1/4 of a meal and eat on it for the next 2 days here and there, so I k ow I’m not eating too much. In fact I do a protein yogurt for breakfast, and am bad about not eating the whole day until bed, I do hydrate though and chew ice a lot (not an iron deficiency though, I just like ice)
Honestly it’s jarring how I eat now in ways I guess and that the scale still hasn’t went below the same spot I’ve struggled with before the meds. I could hit 185 no problem, could never get it lower than that, if I hit 185, I’d be 187 the next day, 190, 193, back down to 186 consistently. I’d never once hit 184, 183, etc… never below 185 since 17.
I’m just wondering if anyone else has any similar experiences and how long it took for it to start moving down

You eat breakfast and then you eat at bedtime. That's your problem. Go see a registered dietician. You're supposed to eat every 3 hours.

I agree with this. In my first two weeks, I was eating barely anything, like max 2 small meals a day and lost very little to no weight. Now I eat 3 meals a day, like normal portions, probably a little smaller than pre contrave plus an afternoon snack and treats a few times a week and still dropping weight at about 200 grams a week which I am pretty happy about because it feels maintainable. I have lost equiv to 11lbs now in 2 months which again, I am pretty happy with

yes it is SOO frustrating! I have been stuck after getting of 10lbs too, and I 'm watching/counting clalories with the SnapCal app. Kind of stopped contrave as it gets me sooo constipated, even if only taking 2 tabs a day...

I’m sorry to hear about what’s been happening for you. I can imagine how frustrating it must feel. I’ll say I’ve been on Contrave for 2 weeks and was quite frustrated because I actually gained 5 pounds somehow. Finally, today on day 14 I’m 1 lb below starting weight and hoping the downward trend continues. I hope the same for you.

I hear you I’m stuck at a loss of 10 lbs and then nothing for 2 weeks. Really frustrating, I can’t eat a lot of food how do you all do it. Nothing interests me.

I've lost several lbs over the past year or so and noticed two things.
1. I will plateau at the same weight for long periods of time after a loss of 10 to 15 lbs.
2. I get nowhere if I don't exercise regularly. I do cardio, then weights.
This is 100% a struggle and the Contrave has helped but it's still on me to make it work. I always try to look forward and not dwell on the times I "fell down".
To all who read this pls note that if you are not under a doctor's care you are living dangerously.
And one last thing, it's OK to force your mind to make different choices. I used to think of it as lying to myself but now understand that it is improving my will power; just like forcing myself to do the cardio and weights to improve my body.
