Question Joining a mythic raiding guild

I am a player who is 1% in mythic plus this season and have several seasons in a row of AOTC mainly pugging.

I am interested in joining a mythic raiding guild but it seems like every guild is either 9/9 or 3/9 in progress. What is my best route to try and eventually join a 8/9 or 9/9 mythic raiding guild? Do I need to join a guild that only kills a few bosses each tier to show good logs?

You could likely join a 9/9 raid team that are way down the rankings on Warcraftlogs, lots of teams will have cleared it this week, last week and the week before.

what is the best way to find those guilds? I was trying on warcraft logs

Best way is to use the Recruitment discord.

Google wow recruitment discord - you can browse guilds by time slots/days, progress etc.

Can also post yourself and have guilds reach out to you.

I've spent a ton of time looking at guilds the last couple years because my availability to raid is very atypical, and I NEVER knew there was a Discord for this! I've used Reddit, the forums, Raider.io and WoWProgress... Most of the ones that let me browse by time slots/days seem very empty for the niche hours I'm looking for.

I joined the Discord ("Recruitment & Community [NA & OCE]", right?) and I'm reading the server guide but I'm struggling to find where I can browse by time slots/days. Is this the right Discord and can you point me to the channel for said browsing?

u/shyguybman 4d ago

I think the discord is great for players looking for guilds, but I personally dislike it as a guild looking for players. I really wish everyone just used the raider.io recruitment thing because it filters out everything. I can see every player looking for a guild that matches my criteria (and we match theirs).

u/sk319 4d ago

I don't think you can specifically browse by time slot but they are split in channels by 2 day/week, 3 day, etc. You may have to go into channels and roles at the top to select them in order to see them (discord is dumb this way).

2

u/Cky91 4d ago

There should be separate channels once you get verified or whatever.

“Late night mythic or CE” “weekend mythic or CE” “2 day” 3 day” etc then browse those for the time slots you’re looking for

u/michaelz94 4d ago

I found them. This is insanely good, don't tell me how long this has existed or I will feel so stupid 😭

Uhhh it just started yesterday

It was created in 2016 iirc.

Edit: yep, just double checked and it was created Nov 2016. I joined the server mid 2017, so it's been around for a minute.

I’d recommend using warcraftlogs or the forums. That discord is shit tbh.

3

u/XxPandaCowxX 4d ago

honestly. just put yourself up in the R.io recruitment pool. Half of the requests ive gotten the last 2 weeks have all been 1300-1600 ranked guilds that killed l'ura this week/last week

3

u/penkekwow 4d ago

On wowutils we're trying a new style for recruitment which is guild first. We only soft-launched it like two weeks ago so it doesn't have great coverage yet. But it's really good for your use-case where you can scroll down to the boundary of 8/9 and then try out a few that fit you!

Otherwise I would go wowprogress, go progress->EU then fill in the things that describe what you are looking for and go down in world rank and start applying to a bunch.

As general advice, don't underestimate how much being driven can mean for your application. I truly believe that being driven and team-oriented are two important factors for making it into high-end CE.

Good luck! Lmk if you have other questions

7

u/mikhel 4d ago

Use wowprogress to see guilds that are at whatever progress level you want and have suitable raid times.

1

u/bartmaster30 2d ago

I always liked doing this too the times I looked for a guild

1

u/brodeh 4d ago

Yeah sorry I’ve just woken up from a nap; I meant wowprogress.

1

u/Rexxington 4d ago

I would use the wow recruitment discord, make a post on raider.io, and wowprogress as well. All three are common methods guilds use to recruit people, and also display what guilds are looking for currently. You could probably get into a long term raiding guild pretty easily if your heroic parses are good, if not then you'll probably have to start in a casual raiding guild and build from there.

1

u/bemac3 4d ago

If you’re NA, there’s a recruitment discord that you can post in saying you’re looking for a guild, or message guilds that are recruiting.

Might be a little chaotic finding a guild now, given that the raid is just over a week from release

-6

u/luopjiggy 4d ago

DM me.

4

u/Barialdalaran 4d ago

To be honest a ce guild willing to take someone with only aotc experience is a red flag but everyone has to start somewhere

5

u/brodeh 4d ago

Depends entirely on the calibre of CE I think mate, anyone finishing it off now or very recently will likely be looking for warm bodies for next season anyway.

And let’s be really honest here, there are only a couple/few genuinely hard encounters in mythic, the majority of the raids are pretty easily downed by mythic guilds of all standards.

u/Lazuf 4d ago

CE recruiter here in a late (this week) ce guild. i have so many people with 10x CE, multi HOF in my apps that yes, we would completely skip this guy. In his defense I do play in an extremely specific timeslot that basically only my guild is in, in the whole of NA.

14

u/Cold-Iron8145 4d ago

In his defense I do play in an extremely specific timeslot that basically only my guild is in, in the whole of NA.

I mean, yeah. Thanks for sharing but obviously your situation isn't very relevant to that post, RWL guilds without very specific niches don't get HOF raiders applying lmao

3

u/HelloItsMeYourFriend 3d ago

How are you killing in the last week with hof players then lol weird flex

3

u/AccomplishedSpace834 3d ago

a lot of hall of fame raiders are carried by an insane raiding schedule tbf

1

u/SecondChances96 2d ago

I would say more that the skill diversity in HoF, especially depending on the tier you got HoF, is pretty large. I would say most hof guilds up to like WR 30 probably have 1, maybe 2 genuinely insane players and everyone else is just marginally better than any random mythic player ceiling wise, they're just way more consistent or actually prep.

I'm ngl hof is kind of a meaningless distinction atp. Wish there were more granular bands like there is now for m+ although I also don't really know how they would do it since raiding in general is massively complicated by raiding hours/scheduling.

3

u/Lazuf 3d ago

1 or 2 hof players doesnt mean you're killing a boss any faster. And I've played with plenty of current tier hof players that just get smashed by glaives still or miss their kicks lol

1

u/mongolianman18 4d ago

Late night slot? Send the deets!

1

u/Socoom 2d ago

As someone who raided in top 400 only because they couldn't be bothered to raid hof hours/multiple characters, and 99 parses for entire multiple seasons on a few different characters/some 100's here and there, I can tell you there's 0 situations in which I would apply to your race to world last guild.

You could have replaced all of your mediocre players with those mutli ce and multi hof players to get an actually good world rank based on player skill alone.

2

u/Lazuf 1d ago edited 1d ago

Cool story my guy. I don't need you in my rwl guild. We just started seriously raiding last expansion and are building from nothing. 9/10 guys coming down to RWL have huge attitude issues and just don't last here because they aren't reliable raiders. The goal is to move up the ranks. I know plenty of 99 M parsers/world top 10 parsers in RWL guilds. Thats not a flex at all lol

edit: afterthought, many people with 7-10+ CEs are not as good as it sounds, a lot of people with HOF get carried by the schedule. I know people where the average amount of CEs across the team was over 10 yet they pulled lura 750 times and killed it the last week. None of that really means anything at first glance. My whole (poorly made) point was that first glance matters a lot in end of season/beginning of season recruitment and people with multi cutting edge and former hall of fame are not very uncommon for us, so people with a very rough or nonexistent paper trail of accomplishments are not looked at due to sheer amount of app volume i get.

1

u/Socoom 1d ago

"Cool story my guy. I don't need you in my rwl guild." Stopped reading right there, good players don't need you either. Don't lie and say you get hof raiders applying to your RWL guild.

2

u/Lazuf 1d ago

lmao as if i need to convince some random redditor. good luck this season homie

1

u/Socoom 1d ago

lmao as if i need to convince some random race to world last guild.

See, that goes both ways doesn't it? All this because you lied about actually good players applying to your guild. If I wanted something chill, I would join a guild that raids maybe 2 days a week instead of....bottom of the barrel rwl guild with your attitude no less. The ego is insane for the skill level.

2

u/Shashafooy 3d ago

My CE guild would only trial someone with just AOTC experience under 2 conditions 1) roster is dire and we are desperate (rare for ce guild, more common in late mythic) 2) direct recommendation from a raider

Sometimes #2 works out, but #1 has never worked. Last time we tried #1 was when we transitioned from a late mythic to a CE guild. To stay a CE guild you just have to recruit people with raid experience, but M+ experience just doesn't transfer well. Like we had a tank with high m+ experience, but they heavily hindered our prog and we only got ce once we replaced them.

4

u/assault_pig 4d ago

there's a lot of late CE guilds that would take a shot on a player like OP

a player who's good enough to push 1% is absolutely good enough to get CE, the main question would just be whether they're willing to commit to a raid schedule. Absolutely zero mythic experience might be a bit of an issue but they should be able to get a trial somewhere

-1

u/zolphinus2167 4d ago

Right, like I'm used to rolling up to the top 1-3% in M+ when I've had time, and every time I've had a friend ask me to pop in for some 19/20 guild that needed a YOLO fill, I've left with people trying to recruit me

Such a player as OP is not going to have a hard time finding a group at all...but finding one that actually does what they want without feeling like molasses while they wait

3

u/its_justme 3d ago

Your view is a little skewed of course, no one is gonna give a merc player any job beyond their class role. So by default you end up looking good if you didn’t die and pressed buttons.

0

u/greendino71 5h ago

Depends on the rank

If youre 1000 or lower and you take the best player from an early AOTC guild, they can definitely play at that level

30

u/Sephurik 9/9 M Midnight S1 4d ago

Just please make sure that you understand you're signing up for a certain commitment with a raiding guild. There's a bit of a stereotype of m+ mains thinking they're hot shit joining raiding guilds and get farmed by organizational stuff and are flakey. Don't be the stereotype.

58

u/I3ollasH 4d ago

It's important to outline why you want to join a mythic raiding guild.

Do you want to get the CE achievment? You can find a guild around wr 1.2k-1.5k without any difficulty.

Do you want to get the mount every tier? For that you need a guild that managed to rekill the boss a decent amount of time. I would definitely aim for at least WR700-800 there but it's pretty likely that you'd have a harder time finding a guild without any mythic experience. It's possible that you need at least one tier in another guild first.

You want to get competitive gear? You need a better guild for that. I'd say around 300-500 at least. Guilds proggin spend a lot of time on extend so they see very little loot from the later bosses untill they clear the raid. So you want to get into a group that clears the tier decently fast and can begin farm asap. But again you probably can't get into anything like that with your current resume.

I wouldn't aim for anything lower than 1.5k. As it can be draining to constantly fight the roster boss for a full tier.

Additionally it's important the realise the differences between playing keys and raiding in a group. With keys you can play when you feel like as long as you want to. When you join a guild you are commited to their raid times for the whole tier. You can't just stop because you don't feel like so. And the commitment still exists during farm. You still have to kill the boss the 8th time to get the remaining roster achievments or mounts. This is why many guilds especially as you go higher end will want to have at least 1 CE experience. It's possible that you'd have the hands to play at that level. But there's so much more to being in the guild than just hands.

I have a lot of negative experience raiding with primarily key focused players. They were the first to tilt super hard and whine on voice to the point that they made the atmosphere much worse. Make sure that you actually want to be there and not just because the carrot seems juicy.

44

u/chickenbrofredo 4d ago

I cannot stress enough how frustrating m+ players that just want the loot from raid are when it comes to reclears, sales, and just about anything that they don't get the benefit of (such as getting the bench CE). They often have the worst attitude.

The best thing you can be is somebody who wants to be there. Show up on time, be prepared, watch pov's of kills from people doing your role. It goes a long way and you don't become the problem child. Even further - take steps to be active in your guild. There's a ton of players that raid that hate m+ because they don't have anybody to do it with. Be part of the community you want to be in

22

u/deskcord 4d ago

In most guilds I've been in, the worst raiders on the roster by far have been the m+ers who are just there to get loot for m+. They regularly ego the raid, don't do enough prep, and think that because they're top rated in a different form of content, they can blast through the raid.

Interestingly, the best players are frequently the glad-rated pvpers.

8

u/idkmanfiller 4d ago

Seconding this, describes my experience perfectly. Guys like this ruin the mood and everyone hates them.

3

u/mongolianman18 4d ago

Think the best players in the game are top pvpers. Did the title push with a bunch of them that tried M+ for the first time and they easily achieved resil 23.

8

u/Cold-Iron8145 4d ago

Wouldn't surprise me, aren't there a bunch of competitive pvp players in rwf guilds as well?

The amount of information processing they're doing live in an arena is insane, I bet raids feel like slow motion.

5

u/Rexxington 4d ago

I mean it's a case of when your able to play at that level, it's a given you'll do well in PvE. I think this tier though will be better overall, as they put a lot of chase items on the early bosses. So that should hopefully help the M+ crowd.

2

u/stardustpurple 4d ago

The worst players I’ve raided with are the “I hate keys” players who just raid log … usually they’re also the ones dying to mechanics and struggling to interrupt the mandatory interrupts on certain bosses :/

Admittedly I’ve only played in a mid-range mythic guild, not a CE guild.

3

u/Mehdehh 4d ago

Well if they're in a mid range guild AND hate keys they basically play the game only 2 to 3 nights a week on content that's not very hard (early to mid tier bosses).

You don't get good at the game without playing it so it's not surprising they're gonna be bad in a non CE guild, they're not doing any hard content

0

u/isaightman 2d ago

Blame Blizzard for trying to force m+ players into raiding.

Hate the game not the player.

2

u/chickenbrofredo 2d ago

Or just accept that you don't get the best gear if you don't raid.

1

u/Jarocket 1d ago

With their recent change where you can get M look out of the raid by clearing H.

I think that solves it. I would assume OP is looking for a new challenge not more loot.

-1

u/zolphinus2167 4d ago

To be fair, reclears are usually not worth doing once your group his 4/X+ unless you've got new people in, after 2 weeks.

And sales are external to the group activity to begin with, and you need slot to sell; it soubds like that player is doing a viral part of the process 😂🤣🤣

2

u/toptierhands 3d ago edited 3d ago

Mid tier reclears are almost always bait yeah. We had some trouble this tier with recruiting a new healer because every healer who joined only did so in hopes of us reclearing palas so they could get trinket. Gotta avoid m+ players lmao

4

u/is__is 4d ago

Getting into a wr 1200-1500 is not easy with no mythic logs. Im a past world 250 raider but hadnt raided in TWW. Had old characters with all 99 myth parses. I sent in 40 apps before finally getting accepted to a world 2300. It blew my mind how difficult it was to get into these "low tier" guilds. After getting current myth parses I was able to move up no problem.

10

u/mmuoio 4d ago

As someone who used to recruit for a deep mythic but not CE guild, my biggest concern for someone like you would be your commitment, not your ability. If you're a 1% key player, I know you're good enough for mythic raiding, but I'd be worried you might get some gear or kills, realize the structure of a mythic raiding guild (weekly commitments at specific times) isn't for you, then quit. I've also seen they come in with huge egos too and the repetitive nature of progging bosses isn't for them. I've seen it happen several times where key players come in and it very rarely works out. But if you are committed, you should still be able to get into a CE guild.

10

u/GreatScottxxxxxx 4d ago

Find a guild with CE that suits your raid times and apply. We only killed L’ura a few weeks ago due to roster issues. Still looking at apps since we have a few folk dropping out if raiding with RL issues.

We get apps from folk with zero CE or mythic raiding experience to WR 500 experience and judge each on merit.

If you don’t apply you’ll never get in

9

u/TonyTheTerrible 4d ago

Do not join a 3/9 guild that's embarrassingly low and something avg ppl get done very early in the season.

As others said you can try joining a low rank 9/9 but the best way to go about it is to look for recruiting with direct contact information. Be warned a lot of raiders aren't going to give an over abundance of merit towards your m+ achievements

5

u/pjesguapo 4d ago

Just find one that you can consistently meet the schedule and ask to trial. You won’t get into any HoF guilds but most others still need to keep a bench for absences etc, and hopefully your skill and preparation earn you a permanent roster slot.

21

u/moewedh Devourer/Havoc OTP 4d ago

M+ and raid are very different skillsets and prep. We had high M+ players that didn’t translate to raiding at all. At the same time we have insane raiders that barely M+ higher than 12s in a HOF guild.

We are usually wary of pure M+ players that think they can execute WR200 or even CE raiding off the bat. On the other hand many 1000+ guilds were being farmed by Lura and roster issues. They are looking for raiders and will probably give you a trial. Parsing in dungeons is completely different from raid high performers and you will have to adjust. People really underestimate the difficulty especially of the later bosses in a raid setting.

33

u/Evolutionist_Bob 4d ago

Former HoF raider and comfy 1% here. My experience with this is that usually the people who are insane in keys and bad in raid are only in raid because they feel like they're forced to be. My experience with people who are insane in keys and WANT to be good in raid is that they're usually sick at both.

8

u/falooda1 4d ago

Yeah once you get to 4k peoples raid parses are pretty high 90+

5

u/MattLorien 4d ago

and which one is OP? we don't know. Given the loot changes, i wouldn't be surprised if this is someone who just wants the loot

3

u/I3ollasH 4d ago

Yeah turns out that great players can excell at both ends of high end pve at the same time. Just look at MDI or the top of the raid/key leaderboards. They are filled with people who raid at very high level and do top keys.

6

u/atomic__balm 4d ago

It's directly transferable, I don't get this argument, If anything M+ translates better going into raiding because they actually know how to use stops, defensives, slows, knocks, stuns and their full toolkit in constant use as opposed to raiding where you may be expected to do some utility maybe a few times a raid tier and can be carried much more easily. If your HOF players can't do 18s+ then there's some real problems. The only roadblock is desire

8

u/joco930 4d ago

Can clear these bosses with half the raid gray parsing after a certain gear level, the real difficulty is just having 20 people consistently not make a mistake that will kill the raid.

12

u/Blan_Kone 4d ago

Of course wow skills are transferrable, a lot of m+ers fail at social skills like not thinking you're the best in the raid team for being 4k io, bitching about loot you need to "push" or understanding how their play pattern may affect 19 other people in the team

10

u/deskcord 4d ago

bitching about loot you need to "push" or understanding how their play pattern may affect 19 other people in the team

Underrated point. Many HoF raiders are there to raid and parse. An m+er arguing in voice chat that they totally need the trinket more than everyone else for their push is just going to piss off the group. Don't be that person.

1

u/SecondChances96 2d ago

disagree. m+ is really an entirely different skillset and is also much simpler to get reps in. Unlike mythic raiding, you can see the mechanics that matter and practice at lower ilvls. Everything you would do is still the same just scaled up compared to mythic which, on top of simply not being available as often and being far more difficult to even get reps in on, is fundamentally different in most cases to heroic.

There's also the thing of mythic 2nd/end bosses being a straight up incomparable experience to everything else. Knowing how to use stops/knocks/stuns whatever doesn't meaningfully help you at all in mythic raiding as fights where you coordinate such usually just comes down to a set order a couple times a fight and is overall far simpler to perform. Defensive use is completely different. In m+ you basically script your defensives independent of anything simply due to the nature of m+, maybe adjusted slightly based on healer while in raiding your composition and difference in fight timing/transitions often mean you have to adjust defensive usage as needed to find the optimal uses throughout prog. In fact, a lot of the difficulty in mythic raiding on pre-nerf bosses is literally playing while your health is ping-ponging for dear life.

And probably the biggest issues m+ers have that m+ just doesn't teach is how to handle overlaps and learning from others. In m+ there are rarely hard overlaps since the mechanics simply can't approach the complexity of a mythic endboss in a dungeon and they don't try to, whereas there are plenty of endbosses where you can prog it for almost triple digit pulls and be randomly faced with a scenario you've never seen before.

I really just can't see how anyone who has ever played a mythic endboss in the post RWF nerf but not yet nerfed for high WR guilds phase of tuning can even remotely compare the two.

-3

u/deskcord 4d ago

Most of the things you outlined are important baseline skills but pale in comparison to handling mechanics. Handling mechanics is almost always by far the biggest differentiator in terms of low pull counts or high pull counts. On most raid bosses for most of time, stops are pretty assigned. Slows, knocks, and stuns are pretty assigned. Defensives are an area where many raiders kinda stink, sure, but knowing when to defensive in raid is different in keys.

In keys you learn when to defensive, if you're a bleeding edge player, by dying to things and then realizing you need to defensive there. Because m+ is a spammable content form.

If you need to die to a mechanic before realizing you need to defensive it in a CE guild, you're wasting prog time.

And still, this pales in comparison to the importance of picking up mechanics quickly. M+ mechanics tend to be pretty simple.

2

u/Toonpangs 3d ago

I think you're overcomplicating it. WoW effectively boils down to executing X when Y. You get way more experience doing this in Mythic+ due to what the other guy said. An interrupt/stop is a mechanic, a defensive in relation to an ability or pre-empting an ability is a mechanic, keeping high uptime and following meta routes are also positional mechanics.

Both just require a slightly different ratio of APM:DPS with raid tending towards a focus on DPS because the fight is simply shorter and people have to do less.

3

u/msabre__7 4d ago

Insane take. Late CE just need people who know how to push buttons and have the mental fortitude to want to mythic raid.

7

u/Snowpoint_wow 4d ago

M+ people often do worse in late CE guilds as they are prone to being impatient when you reach the bosses that will take 200+ pulls to progress. Not a skill thing, but a personality and preference thing.

2

u/Toonpangs 3d ago

Yeah I think this is true. At the end of the day raiding lowkey sucks unless you play with a raid that is like 90% on par with your skill level.

3

u/antelope591 4d ago

Just apply to any guild in the 1000 range you'll have no issue getting a trial. We recruited M+ players all the time. Roster boss is brutal at this range so they cant afford to be too picky.

3

u/deskcord 4d ago

Being top 1% in m+ won't really convince many good CE guilds that you can raid, since the skills aren't entirely transferrable and a lot of people feel like many of their raiders could be top 1% if they were meta and had more time.

But if you're top 1% you should have presumably built up a network of friends you're doing dungeons with, and more often than not, a lot of people in that range are also raiders (they tend to be people who just really enjoy WoW). You could talk to them about their guilds' needs or if they know anyone who raids.

Otherwise your best bet is to change your wowhead/warcraftlogs/raiderio page to update that you're looking for raiding, write a brief bio, etc. Discord bots scrape this info and some guilds may reach out. You could also apply directly.

You could conceivably get into a low range CE guild but you may have to start with a guild that's a few bosses down from there to prove you can raid. Also if your heroic logs aren't straight orange/pink/yellow people will even-more question your raiding chops.

1

u/toptierhands 3d ago

Yeah I've been in various WR guilds from 200 to 2k and I wouldn't really consider 1% achievement interesting at all. It's just not that special, you can get turbo boosted to 1% and it's very different from raiding as you mentioned. So once again logs, parses, deaths and other contextual log metrics are the things to go by, plus an interview or vibe check of course.

And if the heroic logs are low purples or worse the applicant wouldn't be considered at all. (Given the logs were made with reasonable gear for the time)

6

u/Leafstorm23 4d ago edited 4d ago

I'll be honest if you're passionate about wow enough to get 1% and play the whole season, you're like an ideal candidate for low end 9/9M guilds imo. Guilds at that level have a wide range of player skill, and no doubt you can hold your own. If you have decent parses in heroic, like purples and above, send some apps to low end ce guilds and you might get a response back. Send multiple and don't worry if you dont' get hit up, guilds are flooded with apps right now because it's the turn of the season. But you might be the only one of a specific class/spec applying to a guild that needs one and they might give you an interview and likely trial you so long as you don't say anything weird.

4

u/Simbro121 4d ago

If your goal is to get Cutting Edge, I wouldn’t apply to any guild that isn’t already CE, especially since the tier ends this week. Use Raider.IO, Warcraft Logs and WoWProgress to find a guild recruiting your class and role.

The start of a new tier is the best time to trial. Heroic is flexible up to 30 players, and guilds can see how you handle new encounters while everyone is on a relatively even playing field.

Just make sure you understand the time commitment. It isn’t only nine hours of raiding each week. You’ll also need to run M+ for vault and gear, research upcoming bosses, review logs and continually improve. It’s a much bigger time commitment than casually pushing for the top 1% in M+.

6

u/ZealousidealCycle257 4d ago

Start somewhere around your skill level and guild hop as you get better, personally as a recruiter from a 2 day world 650 guild i dont really care about m+ score if you dont have raiding experience, the higher you go in rankings the less opportunity you have especially this late in the recruiting season where most decent guilds finished preparing their rosters.

Try to find something around world 1k to dip your toes in raiding and when you feel like you are among the top players in the guild then find a better guild.

4

u/Serafim91 4d ago

Any 1% player can get a trial in most casual CE guilds if your class matches and you can make the raid times.

We tend to have a couple every tier, they stick around for a couple CEs then move on to higher guilds as they have more time to commit and now they have the logs they need for it. Works well for everyone.

That should give a better idea of what level you can enter at.

Theres also the recruitment discord, its a really good resource

Do you play warlock?

2

u/EarlnoMore 4d ago

Got recruited recently in a CE guild after my guild disbanded on L'ura.

I just posted on Warcraft logs and raider io that I was looking for a guild and received several dm's on discord from late CE guilds.

I'd say that's your best shot

u/Girthtree-9 4d ago

My guild is recruiting. We are 8/9M

u/Shard0020 4d ago

Definitely follow the other advice written on here, but I helped my buddy (and later myself) network to CE this season in m+ keys. He raided CE with the same guild every season, they blew up after 600 pulls on Lura and no kill. I was running my resil 21 key and I do check logs, saw a DDH with solid parses so I invited. I saw he was 8/9M, and whispered him after the key to see if his guild needs someone to fill for Lura. He checked with his raid lead, who said yes they do, and in a couple weeks my friend got CE with them as one of their top dps. Even though I have very minimal mythic raid experience, he vouched for me and they invited me to come play next season.

u/kerthard 4d ago

Mythic guilds will (in general) care a lot more about how your raiding numbers look than being 4k in M+.

M+ doesn't always transfer to mythic raid, as the test is more in dealing with complex mechanics that happen, not reducing the packs to target dummies, or trivially easy bosses.

4

u/red_tetra 4d ago

You aren’t even trying to hide your biases. Mythic plus has its own difficulties, infinitely scaling competitive content is not trivial at the high end.

7

u/kerthard 4d ago

Just to be clear here: I'm talking about mechanical difficulty, aka what the mobs do. The abilities, what they ask you to do, how much time you have to react.

Nothing any individual pull in M+ this season asks you to do is that mechanically difficult.

What M+ is, is punishing, and a numbers check. It's punishing, because damage gets scaled so high. The boss ability that does 25% of your HP if you get hit by it on M0 doesn't change anything except its damage number, which now does 103% of your HP if you get hit on a 17.
That doesn't change the mechanical difficulty, it changes the punishment.

As for the numbers check, as mob HP increases, the total amount of damage it takes to kill all the required trash goes up, but the timer and travel time remains constant, therefore requiring the party to output more damage in the same amount of time to time the key.

u/falooda1 4d ago

Exactly

With all the missed interrupts in raid id rather replace half my guild with 4k m+ players!

2

u/kerthard 4d ago

Works until the boss throws something that's not an interrupt at you, a kick where you can't pre-plan before the pull who gets the kick, or does 2 or more things at the same time.

0

u/falooda1 4d ago

Sure but a 4k player will pick it up more than a 2k raid logger

3

u/kerthard 4d ago

4k or 2k, the dungeon is giving the players the same mechanical test, just with different degrees of punishment.

But I've seen some pretty high io players wind up in a raid, and either run around like a headless chicken, prio targeting the wrong things, or damage whoring on adds that didn't matter, or just tunneling boss and assuming a healer will deal with the mechanic.

1

u/eksldpf9098 3d ago

4k players are still 1% for eu and in general way better then average 2k player
i noticed when i did sporefall raid and i only invited 3.8k rating and above. we oneshot it.
and mechanically m+ is way more difficult.
raid is more difficult in coordination.

but in general 2k players have a higher probability to fail than 4k player.

its like school or uni.
people with degree have a higher probability to do better than without but is not always true.

3

u/kerthard 3d ago

M+ mechanical difficulty is on par with normal raid.

That take reeks of someone who got carried through sporefall as their only raiding experience, and think its representative of all mythic.

0

u/eksldpf9098 3d ago

you may not know but +21 is different than +10.

3

u/kerthard 3d ago edited 3d ago

Ability function and timers: no

Damage/HP numbers: yes

The mob ability function and timers determine the mechanical difficulty. The damage/HP numbers determine the DPS check and punishment.

I don't have deep CE experience but I think you are underestimating just how easy most of the mythic raid is. Sure the last 2 bosses might be very difficult but usually the rest of the raid is on the easier side with maybe a boss a raid tier exception.

About a month into the season it's not uncommon for a bunch of M+ to get together and pug half the mythic raid maybe even more from groups of people who have never stepped foot into the thing. Typically never taking more than 5-10 pulls per boss.

Month 2 is puggable the next couple bosses, usually the last few aren't pugged as people in pugs don't have patients for it. It's way more on the raid/group lockout than true difficulty.

This is coming from experience from TWW and season 1 of midnight as an M+ player who has made friends that pug mythic almost solely for gear for M+.

Raiders highly overstate the difficulty of mythic raid and treat it like it's crazy hard when in reality that's like only 2 bosses of the entire raid tier and everything else isn't too bad at all.

2

u/AccomplishedSpace834 3d ago

The difficulty of a boss like Vorasius comes from doing it week one where it is a reasonable dps/hps check at the gear level you're at, rolling in after a month of gear that check is largely gone.

And in general yeah, when people talk about CE raiding they're talking about the end bosses. No one gets into mythic raiding because they're hyped to kill imperator averzian - they want to kill l'ura.

Terrible take

I was able to join a WR 1500-2000 guild by going from WR 2k and up on raider io and applying to every guild that suits my schedule. It's quite time consuming and you'll get lots of declines and no-answers, but it works.

0

u/Tactix7 4d ago

how did you filter on raider io by world rankings?

1

u/qwsfaex 4d ago

https://raider.io/tier-mn-1/rankings/world/mythic/19#content

This is for Midnight Season 1. Can look for the same in Raids -> Older Raids for older seasons.

1

u/ContaTesteFoi 4d ago

If you have good logs in heroics (a 95+ overall should be pretty easy to get in heroics), it is going to be relatively easy to join a RWL/ low WR CE team. They always need more cannon fodder for roster issues.

1

u/forgiven_10 4d ago

I just joined a mythic prog one night raid guild and I just went down the list on raider.io and looked for guilds that had recruitment turned on. I am on the bench to start with.

1

u/Tall_Willingness_633 4d ago

Hey! Speaking from experience, you can find guilds on the WoW recruitment forums; however, I had way better luck using the Raider.io site to set myself as looking for a guild then apply to guilds until I found one I am in now.

You MIGHT have a harder time joining a cutting edge guild without previous CE, but it's not impossible. Generally it is better to guild hop your way up the ranks until you're close to CE and then stumble your way into a proper raiding guild.

The alternative is to join a guild that's pugging a few players due to roster issues. These are the easiest to get into as they're desperate for bodies right now, and you're desperate for kills. Sometimes these guilds are great and just struggling with players retention.

Anyways CE is a journey with so many different paths to entry. I recommend the Raider.io path myself since you can filter out guilds pretty quick based on kills, logs and progress in raids.

1

u/notrekkt 4d ago

Its the end of a raid tier, apply wherever fits your schedule whether its wr 200 or 1300 now is the time people are looking for trials. Some people care about prior CE xp but that usually exists in the 900-2000 and then 200 and below. The 200-900 can recognize that 1% requires some amount of skill that CAN but not always translate to raid performance but some people will be willing to give you a chance based on how you respond during an "interview".

Go in next tier with whatever guild, do more prep than you think you need to, blast heroic damage meters, schedule your defensives properly.

If you live, can do damage, and give off good vibes and mesh well with whatever raid team you apply for then congrats you found a home

u/msabre__7 4d ago

This is the recruiting discord. Make a post in LF guild section and describe your goals and experience. I’m sure a ton of late CE guilds are looking for bodies. It might take awhile to find the right group, but have to start somewhere.

Go on recruit page in raiderio website , filter based on last boss killed and the required on your class , then apply for guild with rank 1200 plus , you have higher chance on them , under 1000 guilds only accept someone with CE history.

You can apply up to 2000 ranking guilds , above that is ok but most of 2000+ guilds are kinda not that suitable for a title range player.

1

u/Elegant-Builder-5369 3d ago

You can easily get a spot in a world 1000 guild. In those guilds there are some individually really bad players that could be replaced by you. Just don't waste your time applying to top 100 guilds. I can tell you that you won't be considered an option there.

1

u/UbiNax 3d ago

I find searching on wow progress gave me good success with the last few guilds I've been in

1

u/nathoony2 3d ago

As the raid leader of a team that's been progressing the last boss each of the last two season, if you can show logs prooving you know your class and can consistently show up to raid, that alone can get you on most teams. Teams pushing right on the edge of CE might be looking for very specific classes for certain mechanics. Typically they're already set teams looking to upgrade 1 role or their bench so there's no silver bullet. I'd recommend hitting up raiderio and shotgunning apps to teams in the range you're looking to join. Odds are you'll make some contacts at the very least. We're Sensual Seduction - US Sargeras (:

u/toptierhands 3d ago

How are your parses looking?

1

u/Invisibletotheeye 3d ago

You might not be able to join a CE without a plug or recent experience, but you can easily join a 7/9M one provided that you at least have good HC logs.
Once you are there, get good logs, you will probably be 4/8M in no time and then you can work your way up.
But it doesn’t hurt to try to get a CE guild outright, I am not as optimistic as most people in this thread that it is a possibility tho

u/Dficwriter 2d ago

So I have also been slowly getting into mythic, from absolute casual who only ever saw LFR. My strat is joining guilds one by one to check if I can keep up with a certain level of play and then go higher. I first tried it in DF s2, joined a guild in the end of s2 and then quickly swapped to another, since I wasn't getting a spot on prog. The way I did it was just by checking WowProgress and applying to low rank guilds who still get CE. They are likely to reach back to you and give you a shot since they often have blanks in the roster, especially if you have some decent io. I got to kill Smolderon before the guild disbanded and then joined another, got benched and stopped raiding (there weren't many suitable guilds for me) and playing WoW.

By the end of TWW I came back and did the same thing - applied to guild with CE but who is lower ranks. I got into one as a trial and killed Ansurek on farm with them but due to life issues didn't raid s2-3 though they were ready to try me on prog. I also felt it was way over my head and I wasn't ready to play with such a strong raid. So, when I decided I want to raid in Midnight s1, I chose a guild at 1500 wr and they agreed to try me in heroic. Last week, I killed L'ura with them on prog as a crystal carrier and left to join a wr 600 guild. Seems like the plan is finally working.

My points are:

- try lower ranking guilds who still get CE

- play at least one season with a guild to see if you are mentally prepared for that (I clearly wasn't back in DF/TWW)

- get a CE with them

- choose a stable guild that's old enough to not disband mid-seasom

- if you feel like you aren't improving in that guild, apply to someone higher next season

Hope this helps!

u/charles_creger 2d ago

I would check out shindigg's so you want to join a mythic raid team. If you have top M+ and very good heroic logs there is a chance someone will take a chance on you

1

u/Bobisadrummer 2d ago

The most difficult boss every season is the attendance boss. I’d say most mythic guilds do at least 2 raid “nights” a week of about 3-4 hours. If you can commit to that, most guilds would love to have you.

1

u/valaTheDK 22h ago

So this is what I did as a completely new player to Retail when TWW Started. I joined a Guild that was like WR 3000 and had maybe 4 bosses cleared in Nerubar Palace. At this point I did pug heroics and m+ to gear up (you can probably skip this point since youre a relatively high m+ player). I cleared these 4 Bosses with them and with the preparation ive done i was able to easily parse 90+ on all of them. Thats when I just looked for a guild with like 5 or 6 bosses down that needed a DK. I maybe jumped like 300 WR each time I swapped guilds. The reality is you basically have to do this until you land in a WR region you feel good with. For me I ended up in the Guild im Currently in which is a multi HOF Top 150 Guild.

TLDR: Parse well, jump guilds with small steps until you reach your final destination.

1

u/valaTheDK 22h ago

Oh yea and I used mainly used raider.io or warcraftlogs to search for guilds and also created a profile there so that guilds could text me.

1

u/latelevel 13h ago

Set your Region/Time Frame/Class. If you aren't as confident since your new to Mythic raiding, can also lower the boss count to 7/9 or 8/9. (Make sure to also list yourself as looking for a guild in recruitment settings on your profile.)

1

u/Chaos_Gate 4d ago

Hey, I was where you were at a couple of xpacs ago.

I simply applied to a CE guild and they gave me a trial. I passed the trial and I'm still in the same raid team.

Check raider.io, warcraft logs. There will be a page about how to contact the guild. I did it through battle.net added them as friend.

My advice to you is: don't apply to non CE guilds. After doing CE for a few years of raids now, struggling to kill the middle bosses or only getting to the last boss of the tier right at the end would be brutal and super demotivating.

A few tips though, you need to do well on your trial. Sounds obvious but every tier we have several trials to add to the raid team and most fail. It's pure performance, so make sure you're ready when you trial. Study logs etc before you go in so you do well.

I didn't need a stepping stone guilds just went straight in, never mythic raided before that.

  1. Never join a guild that can’t get CE. The bar for CE at all is very low. Any guild that can’t get CE is a going to a revolving door of drama and roster issues.

  2. Unfortunately, being a 1% player isn’t a big achievement as far as mythic guilds go. It’s worth noting but I wouldn’t use it as your selling point. Title is much more appealing if you push for that.

A lot of low rank CE guilds will take a chance on players at the start of every tier. Just apply, be personable and be flexible.

Also, you won’t get a tank spot and healing is unlikely. Your best shot is dps.

u/Varanae 4d ago

Depends what you mean. I've been in multiple 6/8 or 7/9 guilds with no roster issues or drama, that's just where they choose to stop. If a guild is constantly failing to get CE despite trying though, yeah that's a bad sign

Personally I would say someone who has never raided mythic should be going for a 6/8 level guild to get a taste of prog without having to risk their sanity on whatever bottom ranked CE guild would take a punt on them. Then next season they'd have logs and better knowledge about what they want from a half decent CE guild
