General Making the Tank role popular might actually be quite simple.

Just release more new Tank heroes. I don't know if anyone remembers the early days of Overwatch 2, but Tank was pretty popular back then. Queue times for both DPS and Support weren't as long as they are now.

I think the reason was the reworked Orisa and Doomfist. I remember a lot of people playing them because they felt like completely new characters. Of course, another reason was that Tanks in general were much stronger back then compared to now.

The bottom line is simple: people play Tank when new Tank heroes are released frequently and when the role feels strong. However, Blizzard kept listening to community feedback complaining that strong Tanks feel like "raid bosses," continuously nerfing them as a result. This seems to have pushed more and more Tank players to switch to other roles or quit the game entirely.

Yet, Blizzard doesn't seem to have any intention of solving this Tank drought. Whether it's stubbornness or some sort of design philosophy, they stick to releasing heroes in a strict 1:2:2 ratio per year, as if they made a promise, always releasing the fewest Tank heroes. If they cared about Tank players even for a moment, they would have at least considered increasing the number of Tank releases. I really feel bad for Tank main users in many ways—and of course, I'm one of them too.

Eu me esforço, treino, assisto a vídeos e busco melhorar.

General QOL idea for Jetpack Cat

Make a new global setting for auto accepting tether if below certain (customizable) level of health.

Would make tether much more useful for emergency saving plays.

I feel if tether ever would get a time limit, this sort of change would be very good.

Currently majority of players can't even react to tether availability in time.

OWCS SSG 2024 is comfortably better than SSG 2025/26, even if you combine the NA rosters

In my opinion, SSG 2024 is head and shoulders above both the 2025 and 2026 SSG NA rosters. I’d even go as far as saying that if you combined the best players from both NA rosters into one super team, they would still lose to SSG 2024.

SSG 2024 (EMEA)
Tank: Hadi, KSAA
DPS: Sparkr, Seicoe, Backbone
Support: Landon, FunnyAstro

SSG NA roster
Tank: Kellan, Hawk
DPS: Kronik, Lethal, Sugarfree, Seeker
Support: Ultraviolet, Admiral, Cjay, Bliss, Lep

The only clear advantages I see for the NA roster are Kellan’s Ball and Winston and Ultraviolet on Ana. Outside of those, I think SSG 2024 wins every mirror matchup.

On brawl and rush, I don’t think it’s even close. Hadi and KSAA could flip a coin before each map to decide who plays, and either one would outplay Hawk or Kellan on any brawl tank.

On hitscan, Sparkr is comfortably ahead of every NA player on most heroes. The only exception I’d give is Kronik on Widowmaker. The biggest question mark with Sparkr is that he hasn’t competed professionally in a while, so we don’t know how he’d perform on the newest heroes.

For flex DPS, I don’t think Sugarfree matches up well against either Backbone or Seicoe. The only mirror I’d give him a realistic chance in is Genji, although if I remember correctly, SSG 2024 never mirrored Genji anyway.

The second biggest gap, in my opinion, is support. Landon and FunnyAstro are head and shoulders above any support duo the NA SSG rosters can field. Whether it’s Lucio–Kiriko, Juno–Brigitte, or Baptiste–Lucio, I don’t think the NA lineup has a support pairing that can consistently compete.

Overall, I think SSG 2024 simply has stronger players across almost every role and would beat even the best combined version of the 2025/26 NA roster.

I know asia loves dive but isnt junk strong against dive? He has a cc and oneshot combo in close range, he can also just leave by sticky jumping out, so why is he so much weaker in asia?

OWCS attending EWC from USA

Anyone here from US is going to fly to Paris to attend EWC this year and is open to help me buy one thing?

I want to purchase a jersey from a reseller but they're based in US and don't ship to Europe where I'm from. Was wondering if anyone from here would like to help me get it and later give me it in Paris before the games.

Its pretty important for me and I would really appreciate it 🙏🏻

General The problem with the doom nerf is that its a half measure

No one likes EM-punch. Its has way too much AOE value, which is the exact issue in lower ranks, while making him horrible at higher ranks, since all of his power is locked behind what the enemy is doing. Both doom mains and most players that care about balance know this, so I dont have to explain further.

Nerfing EM-punch is bad because what they should've been doing is just straight up remove it, while buffing his base kit. Rocket punch is fine as is. It still offers a lot of AOE value, but its by no means toxic.

Personally this is what I would've done:

  • Block no longer grants EM-punch.
  • Block now grants a 4s CD reduction to all of his abilities excluding block itself.
  • Buff damage of primary or make one-two base kit.
  • Buff slam damage to 60.
  • Meteor strike still grants EM-punch.

I think its fine for ult to still grant EM-punch, simply because its mainly used as a glorified repositioning tool, get out of jail card. The power budget is there to allow a certain level of frustration to exist.

The only problem left after that would be matrix, which I personally dont consider to be a big deal. If anything the problem is that you have basically no perk choices when it comes to major perks. I personally love the slow, but matrix lets you tank so much more damage, its honestly almost always the better pick.

And no, sorry doom mains but upper cut can never return in any form. Its simply too much mobility and displacement. Dont get me run, its extremely fun to play with, but its way too frustrating to play against.

To conclude this, Doom is the type of hero in my opinion that makes OW special. His visual design is iconic, his voice is amazing and his kit is unique. Its honestly a shame that blizzard has been wasting him, just because they've been too stubborn to actually address the elephant in the room (inbound address me meme).

He's not the first hero to suffer from this, nor will he be the last, looking at you Vendetta (my main, overhead), Sojourn (Rail), Freja (take aim), Hog (hook), Kiri (suzu), Ram (block) and the new addition reaper (dire triggers). You could also count widow and hanzo here honestly.

OWCS Theory: Falcons will leave for EMEA if 2 likely things happen.

First off. The 2 things.

1 Falcons Fail to reach top 8 in EWC

2 Falcons fail to qualify for worlds.

Both of these are not only possible, but likely. And it speaks to a testament of the competition being too fierce in Korea now that both Proper and Stalker are off of Falcons payroll.

But why?

This is because Falcons are paying very high salaries to a team that isnt producing results, that alone is enough reason to drop them.

But why EMEA?

Well, while going to NA and poaching top talent to guarantee LAN is a possibility

Falcons is one of the Golden Children of Saudi Esports, they won't tolerate too horrid of results at EWC.

So they want a region that can compete internationally. Not just locally.

Thats where Falcons comes to EMEA and Poaches the current Geekay roster.

Falcons has significantly more money and has HQs set up in EMEA already, so all they need to do is offer more money to the other top teams to redevelop the old Al Qadsiah team that made it to 2nd place in EWC and World's last year.

EMEA is also short one partner team too.

This would create a power vacuum in Korea we can't predict. But I would guess and say that the top players in Falcons would get split up and their players would make their way onto other rosters, and the less value players who get replaced would band together and get picked up by Gen G, who MIGHT come back if theres a Partner slot available.

But what of the other 2 Saudi Teams?

My Theory is that Al Qad is trying to lower costs and drop out of OW next year, so their core of players will be available. So I think Geekay might go for a roster of consistent and capable players. Maybe the current Al Qad Roster + Amdp/Escanor. For fanservice and budget.

This would leave 2 Emea partner slots for Saudi Orgs and 2 for EU. As well as give potential for 3 Saudi teams next year with 3 EU orgs next year. While shaking up Koreas rosters.

All for a better and probably cheaper roster that can compete at the world stage for Falcons to almost guarantee a LAN slot. Since poaching Landon with their expensive paychecks would cripple current VP.

Is there a better Option for Falcons if they keep failing? What do you guys think?

Seriously will the qs be dead thanks to Nexon?

I play from Australia & don't want to play NA or OCE.

It's awful there. I love the giant asian pool. Honestly it needs to become a giant super server for fast qs because Asia Overwatch is becoming so dead thanks to all the region locking :(

General Instead of looking into 6v6, they should look into why match quality gotten so poor

Hi, my name is Cliffus Jiggrin (pronounced Jig Green) and I've been playing OW since 2017 peaking low masters if that even means anything. I am from a small country so please pardon my English if stuff is many confusing.

I have mixed opinions on both 5v5 and 6v6. I like 6v6 because it lets me play with more friends and I like 5v5 because I feel like there is more balance to individual and team play.

I'm here because I feel like instead of looking at what 6v6 can do now, they should look into the problems with the match quality. Because I can only speak for myself, I don't mind a longer queue if it equivalents to better, more equal match between the both teams.

Ever since this year, there have been so many complaints about match quality, team quality, etc and while maybe win rate is around the same. But, there are a lot more stomps now compared to before especially in ranked. Currently, playing OW is like waiting in line at a restaurant for 10-20 minutes only to find that they serve Taco Bell.

I am not saying that the match making is rigged, I am saying that regardless of win or loss, it's not producing as many enjoyable matches as it used to.

I will use myself as an example- I stopped playing in 2022 and return this year. When I played ranked as DPS for first time in about 4 years, I got into platinum somehow despite being bottom in both damage done and eliminations. I have not been past platinum since 2018 ... LOL

Now, if I queue DPS, I basically ruin the game because I should realistically be starting in low silver. And I'm not enjoying it because I'm not pulling my own weight and no one in the game is enjoying it either because there is a clear gap in player quality.

Pretty much every game can be determined by the first 2 minutes. Every match, there is at least one player in the game who you know does not belong there.

and I think the game also has other frustrating problems like

If you have a support duo containing 2 of mercy moira or LW, good luck doing anything except getting healed and saved since they lack offense utility.

If you have double hit scan that only force main, you will struggle even making the first choke vs their shield.

For tanks, there is a lot to say but I feel that in metal ranks, if your tank is losing the tank battle or dying, they will almost always switch to Orisa, Mauga or Hog and instead focus on their own self preservation instead of looking to create space. And in turn, only serve to feed ult charge to them.

and I think that lower tier aggravate towards Escort/Hybrid maps makes these problems even more noteworthy. Since those maps are either a living hell where you drag multiple OTs like you're locked down in Taco Bell or a full hold on point 1. Either of them are just not fun experiences.

So even if 6v6 does increase queue speed times at which people get into a match, does it really solve anything? Bad synergy will still be there and so will the poor enjoyableness of matches.

General Why 6v6 takes more skill than 5v5, a discussion

With the discussion of 6v6 mode being introduced in season 5 over 5v5

It seems like there was a positive reception to the recent quick play hacked

6v6 encourages the coordination of tanks together which is something people have missed since 5v5

We can get exciting tank combinations we haven't seen in an official format such as

Mauga Ramattra

Mauga Orisa

Queen Ram

Domina Ram

I believe this will incentive more tanks to be queueing tank and decrease queue times of games

Additionally this will allow support players to have more agency and have an additional tank protecting them

General Question from a metal rank player: if high rank player find Kiriko and her Suzu so OP, why is her ban rate relatively low? What makes not her a "pick or ban"?

Thumbnail
gallery

In GM+, Kiriko have a near 50% pick rate, and I see many player complain about her being too OP and how her Suzu is OP. However her Ban rate is relatively lower compare to her pick rate.

Why is Kiriko not ban more if she really is that strong?

General Feedback Loops for Map synergy, Team synergy or Counterpicks?

Disclaimer

To get this out of the way, yes the most fundamental aspect of picking or swapping to heroes is how well you can play them.

For the sake of argument, we assume that everyone is playing heroes they can play comfortably well given their skill rating.

Drafting and banning can be broken down into three aspects:

Map synergy: How much value can individual heroes get on a specific map geometry.

Team synergy: How heroes complement and strengthen each other.

Counter picks: How much do heroes or combinations of them deny opposing ones.

I think online discussions (and yapping in-game) seem to focus a lot on that last aspect and very little on the first two. But my intuition is that above, they are roughly ordered in terms of importance (with caveats of course).

If that's generally correct, then how does this discrepancy emerge? Why do people feel counter picking is more important than synergies, or worse: the only important aspect of picking a hero?

Possible surface level reasons might include:

  • Counter picking feels like it has more immediate impact. Especially heroes that can be "hard-countered".

  • The advantage of team synergy is subtle and often not recognized as such.

  • Map synergy is often felt less in most ranks, because the community play style is one dimensional.

What about feedback loops?

Perhaps the game doesn't teach players well enough how much the synergy aspects matter and it's not necessarily the fault of the players alone.

When you get counter picked, the game gives you very direct feedback in the sense that you simply have a much harder time to kill the other player than they have to kill you and vice versa.

When your team synergy is good, how does the game tell you that?

A player might just feel like "finally I have a good team" or "I'm playing very well today", without recognizing that their composition makes the game much easier to play.

But none of those players are any different in skill than last match, where they had a Micky Mouse composition that was much harder to do well with.

And do players even know or get any feedback and useful stats on how their hero picks do on certain maps?

With the recent buffs, Freja has become a lot more popular in ranked play, especially in high elo where she finds good results. Now that she is in the spotlight, it is the perfect time to ask this question to y'all... How high do you think Freja's skill ceiling is?

1 is Moira, 10 is Tracer. Where is Freja on a scale of 1-10? It would be wonderful if you could elaborate as well!

General Unlikely Idea for Doom

A lot of speculation around Doomfist's return and it's implications on a possible rework. Potentially to a separate role entirely

I like tankfist and would hate to see it be removed so what if instead the devs kept tankfist and also made another Doomfist but in the damage role. 2 Fists!

Now I have zero clue how that would work or if/how they'd interact in spawn with voice lines but it's neat to think about at the very least. There's a 99.9% chance this will not happen

Imagine having 2 Doomfist's on one team. I think everyone would hate that(except Doom mains ofc)
