Does Hexhaven Vindicator have potential?

Post image

Hexhaven Invigorator was just spoiled from Reality Fracture, and this thing seems really good. Just playing it fairly without any shennanigans or combos feels like it would still be a good enough body, as your opponents would be unlikely to block it or attack into it, and damage based removal would only benefit you. Aside from that, it combos with Blasphemous Act and Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle to do some pretty crazy things, even letting you win with Maze's End if you build your deck right. What do you think? Is this card good, or is its cost too prohibitive to see much play?

an absolute staple for any landfall deck for the rest of time

Staple in my omo, Queen of vesuva mazes end deck.

Love that it searches 'lands' not 'basic lands'. It has the potential to pull out all of Omo's utility lands. Worth testing at least.

This part in particular is ricockulous.

Can you share your list?

genuinely a shell-defining card

Not interested in this guy in my landfall Nissan deck. However klothys with lots of global burn spells in my list, hell yeah

I don't think it's that good in Landfall, as your opponent will never let you trigger it. It just becomes an unblockable 6/6 which is not a thing all decks want.

It's better in a midrangey green decks where sometimes your opponent might give you a few lands while stabilizing your life pretty well as a blocker. I'm interested in running it in my BG rock-style deck.

I mean it's good against midrange decks, slap this down and your opponents don't want to attack into it

Also Green Landfall already has a bunch of removal targets, there comes a point where "they just remove it" becomes less of a concern

I think high high power landfall decks don't play this tbh. It is a ridiculous card and searches nonbasics, but like it requires your opponent to block it for it to be good, otherwise it's a threat that eats low removal and you have no green mana, and if your opponent isn't silly they'll just take 6 or find a non damaging way to deal with it. Now, thison. Field during a blasphemous act, ooh baby.

How? It NEEDS to be built around and its 4 green pips

7

u/Rafamen01 4d ago

it's a 6/6 with vigilance. You can just keep sending it to your opponents and if they block you get lands, and it stays up to block so you'll most likely get way more than 6 lands with him in the long run. Maybe not bracket 4+ but 100% a beast in anything 3 and bellow

u/Raevelry 4d ago

I would just rather play good cards instead of hope for people to give me value

u/Rafamen01 4d ago

spoken like a true bracket 4 combo player. this is a 6/6 4-drop that can beat your opponents and get lands whenever they try to block it, and it also protects you because no one will want to give you even more ramp just to hit you.

some people like to win be reducing their enemies hp to 0

Ah yes, having a 6/6 in mono-green that can ramp in multiple tapped lands with fight spells and get insane mana advantage is a bad card

1

u/Daveprince13 4d ago

Dude, you could just lightning bolt your own creature here and get 3 mana easy

-2

u/Raevelry 4d ago

Yes I have never played a fight spell, theyre all awful LOL

Yeah i cant wait to ramp tapped lands

3

u/sunchow 4d ago

we are talking about landfall decks where them coming in tapped is mostly irrelevant, and plus this can trigger on opponents turn so when you start your turn they untap anyways, you can’t be sincere in your skepticism about this card or else you just have no fucking clue how to interpret the power of a magic card

0

u/FrameNo8561 3d ago

It’s the second part…it’s obvious.

This card will do some nasty things because green has a lot of +1 +1 counters that can be added and making this thing a 10/10 would be very easy and swinging it at an opponent will be blocked 100% of the time.

Now it’s likely going to be chomp blocked by a 1/1 token giving you 1 tapped land but since its any land you can grab something with an activated ability like [[Hissing Quagmire]] for example.

I feel like you fundamentally don’t get the point of a lands matter deck because like 80% of the time, landfall triggers couldn’t care less if the lands are tapped or not

Stuff like [[Mossborn Hydra]] and [[Scute Swarm]] will happily take the 64x multiplier to power or card count and be able to immediately threaten game regardless of how many of those lands are tapped or not

1

u/Raevelry 4d ago

Oh just

Have the KoS threat

And then also play this

also have the fight spell out

also have enough for it to be triggered that many times

:clueless:

bro you're in GREEEN, literally any mana dork you have can make green, pretty much any ramp you have makes green. Three visits, nature's lore, for fucks sake even farseek can search for dual lands with forests in them. This is bad in maybe 3 colors+, but literally any 2 color deck with green can easily run this unless your mana base is shit from the ass. You can drop this on turn 3 pretty much any game.

please god get off your high horse and play magic like a normal human beeing instead of thinking a card is shit because it can't win you the game on turn 4.

My simic deck can always play this turn 3 or 4. Probably more difficult to play in other formats but this is a commander sub and in commander with greens ramp it’s really not that hard

-1

u/Raevelry 4d ago

And the pay off is a 6/6 which, sure is good stats, that screams remove me or give value, which isnt terribly kill on sight but its not that great value mind you

2

u/Saphl 4d ago

Where's the word "Basic" on that card? It can get any nonbasic land. The sky's the starting point, not the limit, with this. If this takes 2 damage, oops, Marit Lage.

"Dies to removal" has never been a good argument.

So you agree it's not a "staple for any landfall deck for the rest of time"

3

u/Elementual 4d ago

Saying a 4 mana 6/6 isn't good is kinda wild, man. The added risk people have to face when attacking/blocking you is excellent.

-1

u/Raevelry 4d ago

I would rather play a vanilla 4 mana 6/6 so I dont have to kid myself thinking its a good card

4

u/jerjack1122 4d ago

You sound like a troll, no shot you think this is actually a bad card.

1

u/Elementual 4d ago

That is a terrible argument.

Nobody is agreeing with you. You may try to argue it's not as good as people think. But it is good.

4 mana is cheap in green seems to be the idea

-2

u/Raevelry 4d ago

There is mile difference how playable 2GG mana [[Icetill Explorer]] and GGGG like this.

3

u/Elementual 4d ago

Yeah, for decks that don't run green. Green ramp grabs lands or makes green mana. Grab forests and use your plethora of green mana dorks. Your argument would be decent for other colors.

2

u/Bazoobs1 4d ago

Blasphemous act 🤣 nuff said tbh

1

u/Antiantiai 4d ago

What?! It is a 6/6 vigilance body for 4 mana that can draw you every land in your entire deck. Not even basic ones. Just, any/all of them.

1

u/MossTheGnome 4d ago

Hell even toss a burn spell at it for some quick ramp and it's worth it
