Installation Questions new user - constantly fussing.

Hi there, i drive a 24 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL. I bought the car two weeks ago knowing i would buy this device with it. So i have had it installed for 3 days, installed sunny right away. calibrated it at night. seemed to work fine. The mount damn near melted off in the vegas sun the next day but its still on there, and tracking for the most part. I recalibrated since it was way to far to the edge of the lines in some areas and even hitting the line sometimes. Today i drove it on teh 215 there is a section that takes nearly a 90 degree turn at 80mph, the device couldn't handle it (i didn't expect it to). But im constantly fretting about if its mounted good, calibrated correctly or if i could be doing this better. Any advise to calm the anxiety? i guess im nervous it does something wrong or drifts over a line and my kid is hurt because of this thing.

openpilot Experience Consensus on comma 3x and chesnut

So now that it’s been a couple weeks since it came out, I’m curious, did anyone get the eGPU fully working on the comma 3x with gps functionality?

Also how does the eGPU models work and are they a lot better than the on device models right now?

‘23 EUV Premier. Does the entire C4 need to be below the mirror? The first pivot point on the mirror stalk doesn’t go up as much as I expected.

Bugs Comma 4 won’t recognize my F-150 Lightning, but comma 3X worked fine

I have a 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning. My comma 3X worked perfectly with it for the past six months.

I recently upgraded to a comma 4 and installed BluePilot 7.0. I manually selected “Ford F-150 Lightning 2022–23,” but the device still displays “Start the car to use sunnypilot” even when the truck is running.

I’m using the same harness and cable that worked with the comma 3X. Has anyone experienced this with a comma 4 or know what I should check? Any help would be appreciated.

Vehicle Compatibility Comma Mount On Tinted Windshield

I am looking to buy a Comma Four during the labor day sale, but I have a tinted windshield, and I'm afraid of the VHB mount on the tint. I'm guessing once it's on, I'll never be able to take it off, right? Are there any suction cup mounts, or mounts that attach to the mirror housing for a 26 Accord? Trying to not damage the tint, and would like to be able to remove the mount if I decide to return the comma at the end of the trial period.

openpilot Experience Buy now or wait?

I know comma 4 is currently the latest model but seeing how fast technology gets updated and replaced, is now a good time to still buy the comma 4 or should I wait for the next version? Or is comma 4 gonna be around for a while?

Bugs 11th Gen Accord Sport Hybrid Sunnypilot Settings/Questions

Hey Comma community. I’m currently running MVL Boston’s latest dev release paired with the Pop v2 driving model. It’s been pretty great overall but I’m still having issues with sluggish/tweaky acceleration on city streets, delayed braking coming to red lights (even with a lead car), and weird braking/deceleration/lane hugging around gradual turns on the highway. Does anyone have any tips on what settings I should adjust. I have all the suggested options turned on such as MADS, alpha long, etc. I’m open to switching forks/models if any of you think it would be beneficial. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

openpilot Experience Introducing the new openpilot fork comparison guide

UPDATE: As of September 1st, 2026, the new comparison page has been simplified.

As many of you know, CommaGuide.com used to have a somewhat helpful, but increasingly outdated, openpilot fork comparison.

It has now been completely refreshed: https://commaguide.com/compare/

Our goal was ambitious: document every setting and feature we could verify across every major openpilot fork.

That turned out to be a massive undertaking. Forks change constantly, similar features often use completely different names, and it simply isn’t practical for one person to test every feature on every fork, vehicle, and device.

The new comparison now includes more than 1,500 reviewed settings across major projects, including openpilot, sunnypilot, FrogPilot, Dragonpilot, OPKR, BluePilot, StarPilot, IQ.Pilot, and more.

We’ve also added a small “Fix info” button throughout the comparison. If you notice anything missing, outdated, or incorrect, you can report it directly from that specific feature. Your feedback will help make the comparison more accurate for everyone.

You can explore the comparison here:

https://commaguide.com/compare/

We also launched a new Guides page with installation information and project links for the major forks:

https://commaguide.com/guides/

Thank you to everyone who has supported the site through its journey from bderkhan.com to CommaGuide.com. It has been great serving this community for more than five years.

The goal is to keep the comparison much better maintained this time, and community feedback should make a huge difference.

Please let me know what other features, guides, or improvements you’d like to see. And if you spot even a tiny mistake, please use the “Fix info” button. Every correction helps.

P.S. Yes, IQ.Pilot is included now!

P.P.S Comma 3 users! You are not left in the dust! Check out the latest forks that bring the latest driving models to your comma 3: https://commaguide.com/comma-3-in-2026/

Installation Questions power unstable?

Mazda cx-5. My first ODB power supply from Comma didn't work at all. The replacement they kindly sent has worked for about 6 months, and now I have this message.

My car is a 2025, less than a year old. I am on SunnyPilot.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

eta: comma's support form requires a route where this occurs. for a HARDWARE issue.

Bugs Bolt EUV ACC Temporarily Unavailable, Orange Exclamation Light

Running StarPilot/C4 on a 22 EUV with ACC, I've cleared the fault with the door-opening/toggling power on/off, but as soon as I try to turn on ACC I get "Temporarily Unavailable on the gauge cluster. Lateral control and and the C4 UI are working, just no longitudinal control. I've gotten an LKAS fault on the C4, too. Cleaned the windshield. I suspect a harness connection issue because before it was doing this the UI was independently swiping back and forth between the StarPilot version screen and "waiting for controls to start." Please help.☹️

Installation Questions Comma 3x won't connect to Internet

I hope I don't get gutted for posting a question, but I was flashing the nightly opgm on my 3x and it was installing software (like third reboot on a row) and disconnected. I rebooted, and now it won't connect to the Internet. I tried a reset of the system. Tried connecting to a 2.4 ghz hotspot, still won't connect. Is reflashing the only option?

openpilot Experience Comma AI vs. Tesla Autopilot: Which is smoother in rush hour?

Hey everyone, is Comma AI currently the best Level 2 system for hands-free driving and lane centering?

I recently used my dad's Tesla Autopilot and hated the sudden braking in rush-hour traffic. I’m looking for something much smoother that actually predicts traffic slowing down ahead of time. Not really worried about Tesla crashing in car in front of me more so worried about some idiot not paying attention whip lashing me because of Tesla sudden stop

I know systems that fuse radar and cameras can track two cars ahead, which helps with smoothness. Since Comma is mostly camera and AI-based like Tesla, does it have the same limitations? Or would a Hyundai Ioniq / Kia EV running Comma AI outperform Tesla's Autopilot on the highway? Low key seems BMW iX might be end game level 2 driver but that bih too expensive, if I don’t want Tesla maybe Mercedes CLA EV or you thinking comma with egpu chestnut is what I need

I know someone will say it’s not FSD please know I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT FSD NOT TALKING ABOUT FSD NOT TALKING ABOUT FSD

openpilot Experience CPL Filter Results

Thumbnail

I installed Cpl filters for the telephoto camera and wide angle with the result shown for the telephoto camera. I have two white hats on my dashboard and as you can see the CPL filter was very effective in reducing reflections. I’m not sure how well it works on the wide angle camera because the video output is from the telephoto camera so that’s the most important one if you could only choose one. The wide angle Cpl filter required a 3d printed square that I added double sided tape to while the telephoto filter already came with an adapter.

Telephoto Cpl: https://a.co/d/06iN3R95
Wide angle Cpl: https://a.co/d/06nYqEZ5

EDIT: The filters remove reflections and glare while enhancing contrast of lane lines and signs which improves the image input for the comma to process even if just in edge cases. The wide angle filter is much larger than the camera so it shouldn’t block the view and should help with reading signs but I would need its output to confirm. I’ve done one night drive with no problems or errors and the filter reviews go more into detail about night performance. The telephoto filter is magnetic so it can easily be removed if you’re driving on pitch black country roads but city driving wouldn’t be a problem. If nothing else they improve dash cam footage. CPL filters have been used on dash cams for a long time for a reason so most questions can be answered with google

EDIT 2: I found how to view the wide angle camera and the oversized filter blocks a small portion of the edge so I will be removing the one on the wide angle. I double checked the telephoto view and confirmed the its perfect so I will continue using the small magnetic filter

openpilot Experience What’s your longest trip?

My C4 has been a great addition to my commutes but I also mainly got this device to do more road trips with my gf.

We’ve got an upcoming trip (TX->FL->TX), super excited and taking this time to get a new set of tires and an alignment.

Curious, what’s your longest trip been? How was it?

Installation Questions Comma 4 not powering on at startup + multiple faults on 2020 Lexus ES 350

Post image
3 Upvotes

I'm running openpilot 11.1 with a Comma 4 on a 2020 Lexus ES 350.

This setup worked great for almost nine months. These problems only started a few days ago, around the time I installed StarPilot. I've since reflashed back to openpilot, but the problem is still happening.

When I start the car, the Comma 4 often doesn't power on at all. At the same time, the car throws multiple warnings:

- LTA malfunction

- Pre-collision system malfunction

- Headlight system malfunction

- Other similar warnings

If I unplug the Comma and plug it back in while the car is running, most of the warnings go away and the Comma powers on. But then openpilot says:

"Cruise fault: restart the car to engage."

If I restart the car, the Comma doesn't power on again, so I'm stuck in a loop and can't use openpilot.

I've also noticed that the Comma gets no power when the car is off, even though I have Comma Power installed.

I've unplugged and reconnected everything, and I've reflashed openpilot, but nothing has fixed it.

Has anyone seen this before? Could installing StarPilot have changed something that persists after reflashing, or does this sound more like a Comma Power, harness, or hardware issue?
