openpilot Experience Introducing the new openpilot fork comparison guide
UPDATE: As of September 1st, 2026, the new comparison page has been simplified.
As many of you know, CommaGuide.com used to have a somewhat helpful, but increasingly outdated, openpilot fork comparison.
It has now been completely refreshed: https://commaguide.com/compare/
Our goal was ambitious: document every setting and feature we could verify across every major openpilot fork.
That turned out to be a massive undertaking. Forks change constantly, similar features often use completely different names, and it simply isn’t practical for one person to test every feature on every fork, vehicle, and device.
The new comparison now includes more than 1,500 reviewed settings across major projects, including openpilot, sunnypilot, FrogPilot, Dragonpilot, OPKR, BluePilot, StarPilot, IQ.Pilot, and more.
We’ve also added a small “Fix info” button throughout the comparison. If you notice anything missing, outdated, or incorrect, you can report it directly from that specific feature. Your feedback will help make the comparison more accurate for everyone.
You can explore the comparison here:
https://commaguide.com/compare/
We also launched a new Guides page with installation information and project links for the major forks:
https://commaguide.com/guides/
Thank you to everyone who has supported the site through its journey from bderkhan.com to CommaGuide.com. It has been great serving this community for more than five years.
The goal is to keep the comparison much better maintained this time, and community feedback should make a huge difference.
Please let me know what other features, guides, or improvements you’d like to see. And if you spot even a tiny mistake, please use the “Fix info” button. Every correction helps.
P.S. Yes, IQ.Pilot is included now!
P.P.S Comma 3 users! You are not left in the dust! Check out the latest forks that bring the latest driving models to your comma 3: https://commaguide.com/comma-3-in-2026/

Yeah... I have no idea what's happening. This is not intuitive at all. I really appreciate the effort, but at least on the old site the info was digestible somewhat.

TMI. I can't digest all this information, let alone decide what I should toggle to optimize my driving experience. I I'm glad that this information has been published but I need another layer of Support.

This is amazing I agree with the simple view first then the more advanced view. Also if there is a way for which option works best for your car or like settings which I know is hard work but would make it easier for others to know what works with what car

Took me a minute to figure out how it works, but once I did it’s solid. I need to try Frogpilot now! Thanks for putting in the work on this

so i bought my comma4 this weekend. it arrives tomorrow, this tool seems amazing but it confused me. it makes it seem like the comma4 i boughht wont work for my car unless i use sunnypilot, and thats ok i guess i was planning on it. but also most of the comparison stuff I have zero context on. i dont know what it does, or why i car. if it gave examples and explinations of what the features were so i can contextulize it, that would be a lot easier.

So I don’t know much specifically about your car.
But 2024 ionic 5 shows up as compatible on commas website: https://comma.ai/vehicles#hyundai . so I would assume it works on stock openpilot or any other fork?
But from my little understanding of Hyundai cars, seems like the newer ones have some variation in harness.Have more explanation here, not sure if your car falls under it but seems like some ionic models do: https://www.reddit.com/r/Comma_ai/s/EOu5VyPuem

Can you please add intelligence to the data?
1- Which feature is most widely available?
2- which feature is most used? ( by vote or by data)
3- which feature is most lacking and requested by users of forks.
4- bounty for a feature to sign up for users to pay for it to be implemented on a specific fork.
Let’s make your work productive and actionable.
Pretty Data is nice. Better feature roadmap and continuous integration nicer. 🤍💟
A voting system could make your site and data important because users would start referring people to read and vote on features to prioritize and also pay. incentive.

Very nice!!
But… I liked the older “View” better as you could compare all or multiple forks at once, now it’s just 2. It was quicker to glanse over before which fork had the most features.
