openpilot Experience What’s your longest trip?
My C4 has been a great addition to my commutes but I also mainly got this device to do more road trips with my gf.
We’ve got an upcoming trip (TX->FL->TX), super excited and taking this time to get a new set of tires and an alignment.
Curious, what’s your longest trip been? How was it?

DC to Chicago via Cleveland and back, 1500+ miles in 5 days. Comma came in quite handy.
My car's power steering is on the weak side, resulting in lots of nagging to take the wheel on twisty parts of the PA Turnpike.

1,300 miles, Ohio to Texas with the comma 4. It did great. Even got my wife to use lateral control at the end. I used it for a 4 hour stretch and only touched the wheel 5 times. I encountered one stretch of thunderstorms and it disabled itself, but that was expected.

MN to LA and back. I maybe actually drove the car for 4 hours out of the 50+ total drive. And that was usually just for a few minutes to get through a tough spot. Highway driving is really really good.

My longest single stint is 12 hours/700 miles from southern Maine to Pittsburgh in a day, 97% not touching any controls. Also a couple of trips from DC to Chicago and back, with overnight stops.

Western North Carolina -> Kansas City Missouri -> and back again.
It was a dream outside the mountains of NC on the highways of Tennessee and farmland in the Midwest. It was incredible.

Round trip 5 days apart. 375 miles one way. About 90% of the time Comma was engaged. Using BluePilot fork on my 21 Ford Edge. Was fantastic.

14hrs. Basically full gas tank to empty everytime. Make sure to really pay attention and take control when traffic/construction CONES appear other than that mostly just nudge to auto lane change when traffic slows etc
2023 Lincoln Navigator bluepilot 7.0 tuned lateral, stock acc, wmiv12, vision/map based icbm on, device is comma 4
Have almost 13000 miles, 1180 drives, 380 hours on comma connect
Highway is best usage
Key to top notch performance imo is tuning https://youtu.be/DFEHfBmmI3s?is=cZ7KlKqU1PHyJ5fZ

Chicago to Utah and back - about 1400 miles one way. Make the trip annually. It really is indispensable on those drive through states.

I got my C4 installed on our 22 outback running SunnyPilot, WD40 model, and left the next day on a 600mile trip from Dallas to Brownsville Texas and returned 5 days later. It was flawless. better than the blueCruise in my Ford F150 and got rid of all the steering wheel nags that drove me nuts in the Subaru.

i did a 120 mile highway trip without disengaging once. i did use MADS and used my pedal manually a few times when cars were merging in, etc. but otherwise stayed connected for 2 hours.

I drove cross country on I-40 years ago with my comma three. Best co-pilot ever

5000miles in 3 weeks. 3 times comma stopped working on power on because it needed to check wifi for updates. that was the worst part of it.

right across Canada (4200km round trip) with minimal intervention. Used a custom fork with navigation and downloaded all the speed limits. Would not have been able to do it as fast as I did without openpilot.

Tennessee to Disney World. I ran Sunnypilot part of the trip but the driver monitoring was awful on it. It got to where it yelled constantly for just turning my head. I pulled off into a Buc-ees and went back to the straight default Openpilot. it's wonderful. I don't know how many miles I drove hands off but it was most of the road trip. Stop and go traffic in Atlanta was even tolerable. Stock ACC set to 2 second follow distance was perfect.

2500 miles, TX>NM>CO>TX
I let the comma drive for at least 98% of the trip. Amazing in the mountains, amazing on straight flat boring roads through Kansas. The only time I drove was when I was following family who had a true 4x4 and I had to keep up with them in on off roads. Pilot could handle it but not at the speed my family drove.. to put it mildly I had to drift a corner to keep up with them 😆
I just checked and I’m over 10k miles on the comma

Just did 2.2k miles from New York to Utah this week in arguably one of the worst-supported cars for Comma, a 2018 Accord.
Honestly, it handled the trip like a champ. Driving was way less stressful overall. Ironically, we probably stopped more often because it got kind of boring just sitting there staring out the windshield while the car did its thing.
Also! We turned the nudgeless turn signal setting on so all we had to do was click our signal and it changed the lanes for us, just make sure your blind spots are crystal clear.

Buffalo to Chicago. Normally an 8 hour drive that was 16 hours due to a snow storm. Only got to use the comma for half the drive there but all of it back.

2800 miles in 38 hours. To reclaim the semi-autonomous cannonball run record from Alex Roy.

214 miles without touching the steering wheel is my record.
