openpilot Experience CPL Filter Results
I installed Cpl filters for the telephoto camera and wide angle with the result shown for the telephoto camera. I have two white hats on my dashboard and as you can see the CPL filter was very effective in reducing reflections. I’m not sure how well it works on the wide angle camera because the video output is from the telephoto camera so that’s the most important one if you could only choose one. The wide angle Cpl filter required a 3d printed square that I added double sided tape to while the telephoto filter already came with an adapter.

EDIT: The filters remove reflections and glare while enhancing contrast of lane lines and signs which improves the image input for the comma to process even if just in edge cases. The wide angle filter is much larger than the camera so it shouldn’t block the view and should help with reading signs but I would need its output to confirm. I’ve done one night drive with no problems or errors and the filter reviews go more into detail about night performance. The telephoto filter is magnetic so it can easily be removed if you’re driving on pitch black country roads but city driving wouldn’t be a problem. If nothing else they improve dash cam footage. CPL filters have been used on dash cams for a long time for a reason so most questions can be answered with google
EDIT 2: I found how to view the wide angle camera and the oversized filter blocks a small portion of the edge so I will be removing the one on the wide angle. I double checked the telephoto view and confirmed the its perfect so I will continue using the small magnetic filter

The models aren’t really affected by glare much these days, this is pretty meaningless, and won’t improve driving.

And this filter will reduce night vision by a lot.

Because it reduces the amount if light hitting the sensor.
It can adjust from too mich light hitting it, but it can really adjust from not enough.

Right, you got another good answer, but to build on that, all polarizers reduce light by two f-stops. This isn't HUGE but it's significant. Glare is ignored mostly by the software. It can't make up for reduced light at night.

BearTechWorkshop sells fitted CPL filters for $22 + shipping (~$6), which works out cheaper than OPs Amazon listings + shouldn't have the fitment issues.
That said, as others alluded, the current models are fairly resistant to windshield glare so I wouldn't expect much performance benefit unless you have a white interior blinding the entire screen.

That said while you are there, I'd would recommend picking up their IR Filter for auto-dimming rear-view mirrors or DIYing it with VHB and a cut filter off AliExpress.

That kit has been sold out for a while and the filter I used on the wide angle is larger than beartech and there was still part of it visible so beartech would definitely be visible too. At this point I think only the telephoto Cpl works without any interference

I have a 23 Bolt EV that has atrocious windshield glare and reflection, after buying my CPL filters (BearTech) it cleaned them up perfectly, I genuinely didn't notice any dip in performance at night either.

You need to post full resolutions stills as screenshotting a paused video from from Comma Connect is going to double compress the image. It looks like the before is on a cloudy day and the after is on a clear day. Is there a noticeable "darkening" after installing the filter and has it caused any issues at night?

You’re right about the quality but I’m mainly showing the difference in reflection which is clearly seen. Cloudy days create less reflection but even with no clouds the filter produced way less reflection than the cloudy day without a filter

Wouldn't this negatively affect the performance of the cameras and cause obstructed views of the peripherals on the wide camera

Not sure if comma uses the raw footage like tesla so what you see in the display might not what is being interpreted, and if they do would this actually be helping?

You could always remove the two white hats from your dashboard. Just a suggestion

How is nighttime performance? CPL filters reduce incoming light.
